This will be a little longer than the last chapter, but not by too much, and it is 3 out of 4 in this Bonding Arc!
North was very tired. He had been up late doing last-minute Christmas stuff. He and the yetis were four months ahead of schedule, but North wanted to get it over with so he could work on his ice sculptures. Unfortunately, that looked like it would have to wait until morning because of how exhausted the large Russian was feeling.
But good ol' Jack had other ideas. He'd visited Old Man Winter and the Snow Queen (I will dedicate a chapter to them later) and had just learned how to do a new ice trick. As all the Burgess kids were asleep, Sandy was enjoying his pickles, and Tooth was busy going about teeth across the eras. And Bunny….well, Bunny was not in the mood after Jack dyed his fur pink for a week. It had been an accident, but the Pooka had banned him for the week from the Warren.
"Dad."
"Dad."
"Dad."
"Dad."
"DAD!"
North groaned before turning over on his bed to face his wonderful yet annoying son. He was so very, very, close to kicking the teen out of his room and locking the door. Very close. But he figured he might as well hear Jack out.
"Yes, Jack?"
"Watch me for one minute. Okay? Okay. Watch." Jack said as he closed his eyes and made it start snowing right where he stood, Jack being careful not to get any on North or his bed. Now, North had seen Jack making snow. He'd seen him make ice. Heck, he'd seen the boy freeze nightmares in just one blow. But he had NEVER seen Jack do it without his staff. "Old Man Winter said he wanted to 'wean' me off the staff or something like that. Cool, huh?"
"Is very good. How did you do that?" North asked. Jack shrugged. North, not feeling tired anymore, sat up and clapped Jack on the back, not noticing Jack stumble from the weight of it. "Why don't we go practice?"
"I don't wanna bother you. You can go back to bed," Jack said. North shook his head and the duo walked outside. North wore his thick coat, and thanks to Jack and the Wind, he didn't feel the cold.
Later, North was glad he hadn't just ignored Jack. Because he got to spend hours with his son, having fun, and watching the boy grow and get stronger. And that was worth more than sleep.
AN: Well, we just have one more left.
Jack: How many of these are left?
Me: I literally just said there was one more.
North: I did not hear you.
Tooth: Nor did I.
Bunny: Nope.
Me: I'm done with you guys. Kitkat Out!
