I meant to update earlier but I just finished a book that...well, it kind of killed me. Keep in mind, I love books. I have read a LOT. I own more than my bookshelf can hold. But not one book has hurt me as much as this has. I don't wanna spoil anything but I shall give you a hint. Three words. The first word has three letters. Second has seven. And third, has four letters. And I am writing two on-going fanfics on a series related to this book. I know I'm being cryptic and no one is probably reading this author note but let me say that I stared at my computer for TWO HOURS and could not write. That is how much that book broke me. But now I have kind of, sort of, not really gotten over it so here is an update! (Sorry this was so long.)

Cupid had a problem. One she didn't really know how to fix. For hundreds upon hundreds of years, she had made people fall in love. Sure, mortals tended to mistake her gender but she adored love.

That's why she watched them so carefully before she shot her arrow. Occasionally Cupid realized she made a mistake and couples didn't always work out. But more often than not, she succeeded. Because Cupid was a good listener and a good observer. So she was good at what she did.

But contrary to popular belief, Cupid had never been good in the love department, at least not when it came to her. Advice about love was one thing, something she did a decent job at. Cupid, though, could not be the suave charming woman others thought she could be.

Which leads us back to her problem. Cupid, the queen of love and matchmaking, was hopelessly in love. And not with just anyone, mind you. No, Cupid couldn't have fallen for a nice spirit or a dryad or even some mortal. Nope, Cupid had fallen for Pitch Black, the Nightmare King.

It hadn't been intentional. But as she watched the world from her own little cloud palace Cupid couldn't help but notice Pitch. At first, she had been disgusted. It was definitely not love at first sight.

Then she kept watching him. She saw how cocky he could get, especially when he fought against the Guardians. She saw how he used words to attack others. She also saw how scared he was, even though no one else noticed. How lonely he seemed.

At first, she just pitied him. But then Cupid saw through his confident facade and began to fall. And when Cupid falls, she falls hard.

Now you might be wondering what the problem is? Why can't Cupid just shoot an arrow and make Pitch fall in love with her? You see, her powers don't work on anyone except mortals. Sad but true. Though she might not have known, she wouldn't have needed to.

Because unbeknownst to her, Pitch had been paying attention too. He saw how she didn't get involved, instead, she decided to remain neutral. Something Pitch was glad of as she seemed like a worthy opponent with that state-of-art golden bow and arrows. He noticed the intelligence in her eyes, the grace with which she holds herself, and how beautiful she was.

Unfortunately, the one thing that escaped Cupid's observing eyes was the looks of yearning that Pitch would flash her or the way he lingered whenever he spotted Cupid watching him. (Not in a stalker-y way. She would be flying and would stop whenever she spotted the Boogeyman).

That is, she never noticed until she received a note via a Nightmare.

I've seen you from afar

And I've come to realize that,

Though I may not be what

You deserve,

I liked to know you

And I hope you want

To know me too.

Cupid smiled fondly as looked over at the Nightmare, who was still waiting for a reply to bring back to his master. Instead of writing back, Cupid flew with the dark creature back to Pitch's lair.

AN: I am no poet so I just wrote what I thought best fit this story. And I'll let you, readers, what happened next. I didn't say Pitch loved her because the two of them hadn't met. But Cupid is a sucker for romance and she can read people pretty well. Plus in order to do her job, she has to be able to sense what kind of a person you are to decide who your perfect match is.

Kitkat Out!
