Chapter Twenty
I stare at Bella while she talks to me about the message from Aro, but I am not hearing her words. Jacob is enraged at their decision and is arguing with Edward and Carlisle about other options that we could take. Jasper has been with Manny since the news, but my poor boy has not said a word to anyone since we told him. Someone touches my shoulder and I turn to see Rosalie there with a sad smile on her face. She pulls me into a hug, of which I accept willingly because I am frozen in my seat, and she says something. My eyes whip over to Felix and Jane with smiles on their faces. I know that they are not alone and are to remain until the deed is finished. Anger boils under my skin and it fuels my wolf side as each second passes staring at their smug smiles. Before I can even think, I am on my four feet snarling at Jane to cause terror and leaping at her. She looks at me in fear for a brief second, but I do not get her scrawny blond head in my teeth because Emmett has me pinned to the floor. Jasper runs over to help me calm down, but I am beyond becoming calm. Emmett struggles to keep from escaping his grasp, until Jacob walks over to stand in my view of sight with an angry look on his face.
"Killing them will not solve a thing and you know that. Get outside," Jacob commands. I huff at him in defiance, but Emmett and Jasper drag me outside.
"Marinna, you know you cannot kill them," Jasper says once we are outside. I snarl softly while sitting on my butt to look at them in frustration.
"Look, we know you don't want this and I am sure no one does. We have no choice in this right now," Jacob says. "One of you have to do this or they will not let his live in peace."
"I believe that neither of us will be killing Embry," Jasper snaps. I hear a howl from the woods and catch Sam's scent along with a few members of his pack. Jacob and I look at one another in confusion, but run over to the creek to see Sam is standing in human form on the other side.
"Embry has accepted the terms and has asked for Marinna to do it," Sam says with sad eyes. I look to see Embry in wolf form and he has his head up high.
'No, I will not do it!' I snarl.
'Yes, you will do it or I kill your leech of a husband,' Embry says. I snarl at his threat and see that he means it.
"Sam, we cannot let this-," Jacob begins, but Embry bolts to the house. I spin around to see Jasper standing where I left him like a statue. My mind becomes blank when I realise he is accepting his death and I attack Embry without thinking about it. Everyone is outside when they hear the snarls, but only come out to see me stark naked standing in front of Jasper with Embry in front of me.
"Don't touch him!" I snap. Embry moves to get around me, but I use my foot to kick him in the muzzle. "I said don't!"
'I will kill him! He took everything from me and now I am going to die because of him!' Embry snarls. He jumps to get over me, but I jump underneath him and we land in the grass. 'You were mine first!'
"You lost that a long time ago!" I scream with tears running down my face. "Don't make me do this, Embry! Please, I beg of you!"
"Do it, mama," I hear Manny whisper. I turn to see he is standing next to Jasper with a hard face with Nessie in his arms. "I forgive you for killing my dad, mama."
"Manny, no," I sniffle. Embry takes the moment to attack me, getting my shoulder in his mouth and I scream out. Jasper comes out of his haze and runs over to save me from Embry. He holds me in his arms and hisses at Embry.
"She is mine now, mutt," Jasper growls. I look at Embry to see he is not liking what he sees before him and I push Jasper away to shift back into my wolf form to finish what we started. Embry meets me head on, causing us to snap at each other's throats literally. I stand on my hind legs to stomp on Embry with my front paws, but he moves out of the way. We look at each other for moment and I see that he is going to give me an opening to finish it. I bolt at him and see him smile a moment before leaving himself open for me to bite his neck hard enough to shred it completely. I taste his blood in my mouth the moment I realise what I have done. I drop his body from my mouth to let out a howl from the pain while shifting back to human form. My howl turns to screams as I stare at the man that was my first everything and the father for my first born son. Jasper's cool arms wrap around me to comfort me and I curl up in a ball in those arms to hide from the world at what I had done.
