Chapter Twenty-Four
I walk into our new school and it sends a shiver down my spine being back in here. Jasper has his arm over my shoulder with a calm look while Emmett and Matthew joke about what they can do here. We walk into the front office to see there is a nice elderly woman standing there with her ear to the phone. I wait patiently while looking around to see we have the attention of the student population staring at us.
"This is normal, sweetie," Jasper whispers to me. Matthew and Alice remain near the entrance of the office while canoodling a little.
"How can I help you all?" the lady says once she hangs up the phone. I step forward with a wide smile and explain that we are here to get our schedules. She stares in awe at us as she listens and then goes to get our files. Emmett laughs at something and we turn to see he is looking at the high school girls staring, practically drooling over him.
"Really?" I ask, throwing my water bottle at him. He catches it and throws it back at me with a wider smile. "Don't or I will kill you."
"Bring it, little sister," Emmett taunts. As of today, I am a Cullen but I go by Marinna Black just like Matthew is Matthew Black. The packs were upset at me leaving for awhile, but they understand that I want to go where Jasper goes and that I have to leave for the sake of the pack. The lady comes back with all of our schedules and smiles as we walk away. I hand out the schedules, maps, and then look at Jasper with sad eyes.
"It is going to be okay," Jasper says softly. He kisses my forehead softly before leaving with Alice, Edward, and Rosalie. I look over to Bella and see she too is not sure about us being split up. I follow Emmett and Matthew to our class to see they have not started class yet, but they all stop to look at us. I see the eyes of the guys staring at me and Bella while the girls drool over the boys. We find our seats at the back of the room and remain close.
"So, I was thinking of finding a trail to let lose around here once we get out of school," Emmett soft enough that only we can hear.
"We are on the outskirts of Boston and you want to find a hiking trail?" Bella asks with a brow raised.
"I want to race Marinna again," Emmett chuckles.
"Ha, you wish you could beat me," I scoff. Emmett holds up his hand with his elbow on the table and wiggles his fingers. "No, we will get in trouble."
"Scared, Black?" Emmett taunts. At that moment, the teacher walks in at the bell and we focus on the lesson. I am writing out notes while the teacher drones on about the lesson when I feel eyes on me. It makes me feel small and I turn to see a large football player staring me with a wide smile on his face and his eyes are full of lust. His eyes remain on me the entire lesson and he saunters over once we are dismissed from the class.
"Hey there," the guy says.
"Umm, hi," I say.
"So, I was wondering if you are free tonight," the guy says.
"Sorry, we are unpacking the house today with my family," I say with a smile and then go around him to catch up to Bella. I can feel him following me to my next class, but he stops dead when he sees Jasper pull me close to give me a small kiss. According to our records, Carlisle and Esme are family friends that took Matthew and I in like Billy did when we were kids. I feel Jasper pull me closer to him as we walk down the hallway to our next class together.
"Someone is catching the eyes of the football team," Jasper whispers in my ear.
"Be nice," I giggle. "So, what are we doing this afternoon?"
"Not sure yet," Jasper says.
"Emmett wants to find a hiking trail so he can race me again," I say. Jasper pulls out my seat for me and takes my bag to hang it off the back.
"He will not win," Jasper chuckles. The rest of the family joins us and we begin to talk about our plans after our charade is up.
Esme is waiting for us outside the new house as we pull up and smiles when we all jump out of the car. I give her a small hug before following Rosalie and Bella inside. Matthew and Alice go upstairs to spend some alone time while Jasper, Emmett, and Edward head into the living to do guy stuff. I open the fridge to see Esme got me tons of food and has even prepared some meals for me to heat up some nights. It still makes me feel awkward to be the only one to eat real food.
"How was school?" Esme asks.
"Same as usual," Rosalie sighs. I smile at her as I hop onto the counter next to her with a plate of bacon.
"Well, at least it was boring," Esme says sweetly. "Carlisle and I are thinking of going hunting some time soon. Do any of you need to go?"
"I could use some fresh air and to stretch my legs," Bella says.
"I second that," I grumble with bacon in my mouth. Carlisle walks in happily, kisses Esme's cheek, and then looks over to us.
"We can actually go tonight," Carlisle says.
"Oh yes, please," I say.
"Then it is settled, we will go out tonight," Esme says. I put the plate down to run upstairs to pack a small bag for Jasper to carry for me. I find Matthew and Alice making out in their room when I reach the top of the stairs and I scurry past them to get my stuff to find Jasper already packing me something.
"Hey, what are doing?" I say, pointing at the clothes he is grabbing.
"Packing your bag for our run today," Jasper chuckles.
"No, you are putting the wrong stuff and grabbed the wrong back," I taunt.
"Really? Well then you need to show me what you want in it," Jasper purrs, as I walk over to him. I jump on the bed with my arms out to the side to capture him, but he grabs me to pin me to the bed. He kisses my neck sweetly with gentle purrs while I wrap my legs around his waist.
"I want you inside me, growling my name," I moan.
"I like that idea, but we need to hunt," Jasper groans. We share a passionate kiss before Emmett barrels in to knock us off the bed.
"Come on, I want to race Marinna!" Emmett says with a large smile. Jasper growls at him and I cannot help but laugh at his childlike attitude in this moment. Emmett leaves the room as quickly as he came in and Jasper flops himself on top of me.
"Why must we live in the same house as him?" Jasper groans. I caress his head softly and kiss his beautiful curls.
"Because we have to live with our family," I say softly. "Don't worry, we can find a place to go and have alone time."
"Soon, right?" Jasper asks.
"Yes, love," I giggle. Jasper gets off of me and then helps me to my feet. We finish packing my little bag and meet everyone downstairs. I jump onto Matthew's back with a smile and he tries to shake me off. "Onward!"
"Finally," Emmett exclaims.
