Okay I know it's been a few weeks (maybe a month) BUT I've had school. Some if not all of you probably know what it's like, beginning of a new year with new classes, new teachers, and new homework. I'm gonna try to get as many chapters done this week. Promise.
*And I couldn't remember what these flashbacks were about so I'm just gonna do the original Guardians and their memories about them being "cooped up in some hideout thinking of new ways to bribe kids." Jack's words, not mine.*
Tooth - 440 years (give or take)
Tooth could not remember the last time she had been so stressed out. Every other fairy needed her help with this tooth or this memory or something like that.
And it was all just too much. Tooth hadn't gotten a good night sleep in...well, in so long she can't remember when.
The second there was a pause in the onslaught of mini fairies coming up to her, Tooth made a run for it. Or a fly for it, I suppose. She raced towards her bedroom and locked the door.
Her room was an absolute mess. Blueprints for a beautiful mosaic overlooking the pond were strewn about her bedcovers. Little sticky notes covered the frame of her pink canopy bed and her oak wood dresser, for even the Guardian of Memories couldn't remember everything.
'If only I had someone to help out,' Tooth thought glumly. The fairies were wonderful, yes, but they needed so much guidance. And there were so many children who needed gifts to replace their precious teeth.
After all, the world is half night, half day then vice versa. She never could just stop and rest. Unless…..
"No. No, I can't. I don't want," Tooth whispered. She opened the door and took a quick peek. No one was in the hall. She could spare a few minutes to think.
Seeing the children was her favorite part of the job. The one thing that made all the stress and business worth it.
But she could help them a lot more by staying at the Palace. By taking charge at her main headquarters, so to speak. After all the fairies could do it by themselves. There was no real reason why she had to go out into the field.
The children would be fine. Tooth kept repeating that in her head as she flew back towards the fairies eagerly awaiting her and her guidance. Besides, it would only be for a little while.
Little did the Fairy Queen know that "a little while" would be 440 years, give or take. Until a certain Winter Spirit was chosen by Manny.
North - Paint it red!
North loved his job. He really did. He loved delivering presents to children all over the globe (the Nice ones, that is) and staying a little while longer to sneak a look at the children's faces when they opened their gifts.
Their eyes would lit up in wonder and it made the older Guardian's heart warm to see them like that.
But he couldn't do that anymore. The population of believers had grown so large North was barely able to deliver to all the children before sunrise. It wasn't anything to be too concerned with. However, it's always a good idea to nip any problem in the bud.
The time wasn't the only problem though. North always had a knack for knowing what children wanted before they did. After all, he did check in with them throughout the year, secretly of course. Which meant he could start production far sooner than anyone knew.
"I don't like it. Paint it red!" North shouted to Steve, one of his newer yetis. North loved making it toys. Each one was handmade, either by him or one of the yetis. "If only I had someone to check on the children for me."
It pained North to admit it, but he had to focus on production. He couldn't go out of his way to check on every boy and girl in the world. He may lose his advantage but he'd just have Sandy tell him what each child dreamed of. Besides, it would only be for a little while.
Little did the Russian know that "a little while" would be 300 years, after the death and rebirth of a certain Winter Spirit.
Bunny - Googies and Time
'I'm not gonna make it.'
That was the only thing going through Bunny's mind as the deadline to Easter got closer and closer. He only had a third of the eggs he needed to be painted so far. It was March 30th….and Easter was on the fifteenth of April.
'If only there was someone to help me prepare,' Bunny thought as he raced around his Warren. The stone golems did what they could, but giant eggs made of stone could only do so much.
"Ya googies need to go faster, ya hear?!" Bunny hated shouting at the eggs but they were on a major time crunch. 'How am I gonna pull this off?'
As he thought that, he suddenly remembered what North had told him a few years back. North had said that he no longer wasted time (though the Russian winced when he said it) visiting the children throughout the year or watching them open their gifts.
Every year the Pooka stuck around here and there just to see the ankle biters look for his googies. He even gave a helping paw when Bunny spotted a child having a difficult time finding the eggs.
And the look on their faces when they found one. They acted like they were holding a diamond. It made his old heart proud. But now that he thought about it, it did mean he took longer than he should've.
"Just for a little while," Bunny whispered. It pained him to say it but there just wasn't enough time. Especially since Father Time didn't let him mess with time anymore. Besides, it would only be for a little while.
Little did the Easter Bunny know that "a little while" would be for several decades. Up until the year 1968 when a certain Winter Spirit "supposedly" ruined Easter.
Sandy -
Dreams were amazing. They really were. Sandy put so much time and effort into creating the perfect dream for each and every child. Was it hard? Of course. Tailoring something unique every night for millions- no, billions of children was a lot of work.
But it was getting to be too much work. He had no possible way of achieving this without help. He and his fellow Guardians didn't speak as much as they used to, Toothiana never even leaving her palace. Bunny and North shut themselves up every year, only leaving for one day a year.
So Sandy was alone. And he got, with much shame, lazy. He didn't do it often, just when he ran out of time. He made backup dreams, so to speak, that were just generic things like dolphins, dinosaurs, unicorns, and manta rays. Dolphins were his personal favorite.
It went from something he only did when absolutely necessary to being something that occurred once a month. Then twice a month. Then once a week.
Eventually, Sandy got to the point where he only created a special dream when he felt the children needed one. Like after a bad dream that had somehow snuck past the Creator of Dreams.
'This is just until I can find a helper,' Sandy thought silently. Besides, it would only be for a little while.
Little did the Sandman know that "a little while" would be until a certain Winter Spirit came along and inspired new dreams and ways to make them.
AN: Please, please, PLEASE comment any questions you have aimed at any ROTG character or any of my OCs. It'd mean a lot and will play a MAJOR part in my hundredth chapter.
Kitkat Out!
