A Fresh Start

Chapter Fourteen

Jeffry finishes packing about five minutes after they decide to go to the loft, but Sam is still putting things in her suitcase, so he goes to help her. Smiling, she looks over at him.

"What?"

"I was just thinking about all the times that you would finish packing before me and would have to help me."

"For a federal agent, you never learned how to pack light."

"You told Ava about Rebeca." Sam says, folding up the last of her t-shirts.

"No, not really. She heard me call out your name in my sleep. And in the morning she asked me who Rebeca was. And I told her that you were someone I used to know. I didn't give her any details about what happened." Jeffrey replies, looking around the room. "Is that everything?" he asks

"Yeah, I think so." Sam says, looking around.

"Okay, we need to go before Ava and Olivia get back." Jeffrey says, picking up the suitcases as she grabs her backpack and purse.

Opening the door, Jeffrey checks the hall before they walk out. Leaving the Beacon a couple minutes later, it takes about ten minutes for Jeffrey to drive to the loft. Taking her suitcases; they walk up three flights of stairs before he stops at the door to the loft. Pulling the key out of his pocket, he slips it in and opens the door. Picking up the suitcases he walks in followed by Sam.

"Well, this is it." Jeffrey says, closing the door behind them.

The loft is fairly large, about 1000 square feet. In the southern corner, Jeffrey has all his guitars, amps and mic's sit up along with Beau's bass and Mike's drums and a keyboard, behind them is a mixing board and next to it a computer. The western wall is a wall of glass that looks out over downtown Springfield, and you can barely see the lake in the distance. In the center of the room are a couch, coffee table and two overstuffed chairs, all of them mixed and matched and centered around the fireplace on the eastern wall. To the right of the couch along the northern wall are a small kitchen and the bathroom. Sectioned off by a staircase that leads upstairs. Jeffrey watches as Sam explores.

"So what do you think?" He asks, after she comes back into the front room from the kitchen.

"It's perfect." Sam says, looking around. "Where does the staircase go?" She asks, pointing to the staircase.

"Ah, there's a bedroom upstairs. But I never use it. I never stay more than a couple of nights." Jeffrey replies, as Sam starts to walk upstairs with him following her.

"This is huge." Sam says, looking around the room. "It covers nearly half the loft."

"I know, but I never use it."

"Why not?"

"I told you I use this place to rehearse mostly and if I stay here it's only a couple of nights."

"But you have all this space." Sam says, looking over at him

Jeffrey catches the gleam in her eyes. "Alright, what are you thinking?" He asks, walking over to her and putting his arms around her.

"I was just thinking that with all this space, you don't need to stay at the Beacon. You can stay here."

"Stay here; I don't even have furniture for here."

"I know, but we can get some and probably fairly cheap, depending on where you buy it." Sam says, turning in his arms

"You really don't like me staying in my ex's hotel."

"Well…. Okay, so maybe I don't." Sam says, looking away.

Turning her back to him, he kisses her softly before he replies. "I like it when you're jealous. Alright, we'll go get some furniture for the bedroom and I'll move my stuff in here."

"Great." Sam says, giving him a dazzling smile, before she hugs him. When she steps back, she looks up and asks. "You're not mad are you?"

"No, of course not, it's better this way. We won't have to deal with Olivia." Jeffrey says, leaning over and kissing her softly before he takes her hand and leads her down the stairs "Let's go get some furniture."

A few minutes later, she and Jeffrey are walking into one of the furniture stores on Main Street. An hour later, Jeffrey has bought a complete bedroom suite, including bed, dresser, chest of drawers, two night tables, lamps, armoire, and an over stuffed chair and ottoman for Sam to put by the window.

Before they leave he also buys a new couch and matching chairs with a floor rug to go underneath, along with a dinette and chairs. "I didn't mean for you to buy the whole store." Sam says, as they walk out.

"Well, if I'm going to be living there. I might as well have stuff that looks right." Jeffrey replies, leaning over and giving her a quick kiss. "Are you hungry?" he asks

"Umm, yes." She purrs softly in his ear.

"I meant for food." Jeffrey says, pointing at Co2. "But I like your idea too." He says, pulling her to him and kissing her.

After a couple seconds she steps back, "Now that you mentioned it, I am hungry but I want more than a muffin and coffee." She says, smiling up at him.

"We can go to Company…."

"Isn't that where Olivia and Ava are at?"

"Probably, but they may have left by now." Jeffrey replies, glancing at his watch.

"Is there someplace else we can go?"

"Sure, there's Towers or the 5th street pizza parlor." Jeffrey says, knowing that the mention of pizza would get her attention and it did.

"Pizza." She says, smiling as her eyes light up."

"Pizza it is." He says, leading her over to the truck, opening the driver's side door and helping her in before he gets in and starts the truck, putting his arm across her shoulders as he pulls out of the parking lot and heads down Main Street, towards the pizza parlor. "This place has had a couple different businesses in it. A few years ago, it was a dance club called Millennium that had a Casino downstairs. When I came to Springfield it was a 'social' club for gentlemen." Jeffrey says, as they turn onto Fifth Street.

About halfway down the street on the left is the pizza parlor. Pulling in, he parks. Turning the truck off, he opens the door and helps Sam out before they walk across the parking lot. Holding the door open for her, he asks "Do you want to eat here or would you rather take it back to the loft?"

"What time are they delivering the furniture?"

"The salesman said around four."

"It's just after one now. Why don't we eat here?"

"Alright." Jeffrey replies, as the hostess comes up to them. "Can we have a table for two?" Jeffrey asks

"Right this way, Mr. Mayor." The lady replies, taking two menus and walking through the restaurant.

"Wow." Sam whispers as they follow her through the restaurant. Jeffrey smiles as they sit down at the table.

"What would you like to drink?" The hostess asks

"I'll have a Coke." Jeffrey says, looking over at Sam.

"Do you have sweet tea?"

"No ma'am, just unsweetened." The hostess replies.

"I'll have a Coke too."

"I'll be right back with those." She replies, leaving the table as they glance over the menu.

"What's good?" Sam asks, looking up.

"It's all good, but do you still like thin crust?"

"Yes." Sam says with a smile remembering the fights they used to have about pizza.

"Their thin crust is pretty good, but they give you garlic butter if you order the deep dish pan."

"Really, garlic butter."

"Yes, it's absolutely awesome."

"We can order the deep dish."

"Really with everything but the mushrooms." He says, remembering that she is allergic to them.

"Yes, with everything but the mushrooms."

"I love you." Jeffrey says, leaning over and kissing her as the hostess walks up, clearing her throat. "Sorry." Jeffrey says, sitting back and smiling at Sam. "We'll have the deep dish pan with everything on it but mushrooms, she's allergic to them." Jeffrey says, looking up at the hostess.

"Yes Sir, would you like any breadsticks or a salad?" She asks

"I'd like a small salad." Sam says.

"Yes ma'am, what kind of dressing."

"What do you have?"

"We've got Ranch, French, Italian, and our house vinaigrette."

"I'll take the Ranch."

"Yes ma'am, and you Sir."

"No thank you."

"Yes sir. I'll get this turned in and I'll bring your salad out shortly."

"Thank you." They both reply, handing her their menus.

About twenty minutes later, they bring the pizza. It is huge as Sam stares and then looks over at Jeffrey. "If we don't finish it, we'll take back to the loft for later." He says, serving her a piece and then himself one. Fifteen minutes later and half a pizza later, most of which Jeffrey ate, he raises his hand for the hostess.

"Yes Sir."

"Could you put this in a box and the check?"

"Yes, right away." She says, taking the pizza and leaving the table. She returns a few minutes later, putting the pizza box on the table with the check on top "Have a good day."

"Thank you." Jeffrey says, picking up the check as Sam reaches for the pizza, following Jeffrey up to the register. They leave a couple minutes later.

When they arrive back at the loft, Sam collapses on the couch as Jeffrey carries the pizza into the kitchen, putting the box in the refrigerator before he walks back into the living room, sitting down beside her.

"God, I'm stuffed." Sam groans, as she looks over at him.

"You barely ate a couple of slices." Jeffrey says, picking her feet up.

"I know, but I'm not used to eating that much." Sam says, sitting up and moving around until her head is lying on his lap.

"I know how we can work some of that off." Jeffrey says, looking down at her and brushing her bangs off her forehead.

"Umm, you do." She says, sitting up and turning towards him.

"Yes, I do." Jeffrey replies, as he leans over to kiss her

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kisses him back, sighing softly as he pulls her to him.

"Sam." He sighs, wrapping his arms around her and holding her tightly as he moves over to her ear, nibbling softly as she lays her head over to give him more room.

His lips feel warm on her skin as the heat of his breath washes over her. Sucking her earlobe into his mouth, he nibbles as he starts to pull her t-shirt up. Smiling, as she sighs when his hands touched her back, gently caressing her as she moves away from him, kissing him as she raises her arms.

"Sam." He groans, tugging on her shirt until they have to break the kiss.

Leaning back, he pulls the shirt up and tosses it to the floor as she wraps her arms around him again, lying against him again as she starts to tug on his shirt. Lifting his arms, they kiss until she reaches his arms and then he leans back, staring at her as she tugs the shirt up and over his head, tossing it to the floor next to hers.

Her hands settle at his waist, as she leans over and starts nibbling on his neck and ear, laying gentle kisses across his chest, she softly licks his nipple as he buries his fingers in her hair, holding her against him as he sighs softly. She feels his breathing deepen, moving down to his navel. Dipping her tongue inside, he feels sparks of desire burn through him.

"Sam!" He groans as she looks up at him through her lashes.

"You like that." Sam says, the warmth of her breath feels cool against his skin where she kissed him as he shifts his hips.

Reaching for the button on his jeans, she pops it open as he sighs. His head is thrown back as he tries to catch his breath, tugging on the jeans until she had them completely unbuttoned. Leaning up, she kisses him as her hand reaches for him through his boxers.

"Please, Sam." He groans, shifting his hips and pressing his body against her hand

Breaking the kiss, she sits back. Reaching behind her as she catches his gaze she holds it, unfastening her bra and then shrugging it off, freeing her breast for his heated gaze. Reaching up, he gently caresses her as she moans softly, squeezing her nipples, as he leans up to kiss her. Groaning as she reaches down and closes her hand around him, caressing him through his boxers.

Breaking the kiss, Sam scoots back until she is off his lap. Reaching for the waist band of his jeans, she starts to tug on them as he arches his hips, pulling his jeans and boxers off at the same time. He kicks them off when she gets them down to his feet. Leaning over him, he feels the warmth of her breath caressing him.

"Sam." He groans, as she takes him in, gently caressing him and licking as he begins to thrust slowly. "Sam! You make me feel so good." He sighs, burying his hands in her hair.

She takes him as deep as she can, sucking as she reaches down and opens her jeans, she feels him shiver as she pulls the zipper down. Looking up at him through her lashes, she continues to caress him. For a couple minutes, her attention is centered solely on him.

"Sam." He groans, as he feels himself loosing control. Reaching for her, he tries to pull her up but she refuses, taking him deeper. "Ahhh, honey." He groans, thrusting as his head falls back and he surrenders to the desire burning inside him. She takes all of him.

Leaning up, he pulls her up off her knees. Kissing her, he starts to tug on her jeans, kicking them off as she moves to straddle him, holding and guiding him inside her "Jeffrey, oh darlin." She sighs, as he holds her against his hips, filling her completely.

Slowly she begins to rock as he wraps his arms around her, his mouth closing around the nipple of one breast. "Yes, darlin, kiss me." She sighs. "Take me deeper." He growls as he begins to thrust against her sliding hips.

"Oh! yes!." She screams, her head falling back as he moves to her other breast. She feels her desire climbing inside her, pushing her higher.

"Oh baby." He sighs, feeling her loosing control. "That's it!" He whispers, reaching between them, burying his fingers between her thighs as she starts to moan.

"Oh! Jeffrey." She cries, her desire rushing over her.

He feels her surrender, wrapping his arms around her. He pulls her to him, kissing her as he thrusts one more time, feeling the passion inside him flow out as she collapses in his arms.

"Baby, that was… I love you." Jeffrey sighs, kissing her softly

"I love you too." Sam says, smiling as she lays her head on his shoulder. They are still in that position when someone knocks on the door. "Oh, god! The furniture."

Scrambling to grab her clothes as Jeffrey reaches for his boxers and his jeans as the delivery man knocks again and Sam runs for the bathroom as Jeffrey gets dressed.

Opening the door, Jeffrey steps back as one of the delivery men carries in a piece of the bedroom suite. "Upstairs." Jeffrey says, as Sam comes out of the bathroom.

"Yes Sir." The man says, nodding to Sam as he walks up the stairs.

"Come on, let's move this stuff." Jeffrey says, winking and smiling at her as he begins to move the chairs in front of the couch to the southeast corner of the loft.

"Okay." Sam says, walking over. "You're bad." She whispers as she carries the coffee table over.

By the time the other man has arrived with another piece of the bedroom furniture, Jeffrey and Sam has the chairs, couch and coffee table moved away from the fireplace.

For the next couple hours, they bring up boxes; mattress and rails, couches, chairs, a Parisian rug that Sam absolutely fell in love with along with several other decorating items. Jeffrey helps set the bedroom and the living room up with the other guys, under Sam direction.

And three hours later, the loft, which had looked like and un-used open space feels like a home. Shaking the gentlemen's hands, Jeffrey and Sam both thank them as they leave, closing the door behind them.

"So, what do you think?" Sam asks, looking around the loft.

"I think I need to jump in the shower because we have an hour and a half to get to Jon's Bar."

"Is it that late?" Sam asks looking at the clock that now hung over the fireplace.

"Yes, it is." Jeffrey says, walking upstairs for the first time since they finished the room. Stopping for a couple seconds, he looks around. A little shocked at the transformation he is used to the space being empty. Shaking his head, he pulls out his duffle bag as Sam walks up behind him.

"I know, it's a shock. " She says, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Yes, it is. But I like it. You know what I like the most." Jeffrey says, turning to face her.

"What?"

"That you're here." He says, leaning over and kissing her. They both feel the sparks of passion start to kindle a deep burning desire. Taking a step back, she breaks the kiss.

"We don't have time for this."

"Okay." He sighs, kissing her quickly as he grabs his clothes and starts downstairs. A few minutes later, she hears the water start to run in the bathroom.

While Jeffrey is taking a shower, Sam is changing and when he comes into the bedroom, he stops for a couple seconds, staring at her. Turning from the mirror, she smiles as she watches him cross the bedroom.

"You look amazing." He says, wrapping his arms around her. "I had forgotten how beautiful you are."

"Thank you, but it's only jeans and a tank top." Sam replies, laying her head on his chest.

"But you look incredibly sexy in jeans and a tank top." Jeffrey says, wrapping his arms around her.

"You need to get dressed." She says, releasing him and stepping back as she reaches for a brush, bending over she starts to brush her hair while he watches her for a few seconds before he walks over to the chest of drawers and pulls out a pair of boxers, jeans, and a t-shirt.

Putting the brush down, she reaches for her makeup and quickly puts it on before she reaches for the brush again, running it through her hair. She was beginning pull it up into a ponytail when Jeffrey notices what she is about to do.

"Leave it down." He says, walking over to her and putting his arms around her waist. "I like it down."

Turning in his arms, she looks up at him and smiles. "You always did like it down." She says, as she leans up to kiss him.

"It's so soft, and I like the feel of the ends tickling my arm when I put my arms around you."

"Are you going to be able to control yourself, if I leave it down?" Sam asks, smiling

"Umm, I think I can." He replies, flashing back to a time when they were in London at a government party and he had dragged her off to a linen closet. "You know, you really are bad to remind me of that, especially when I can't do anything about it." Jeffrey whispers, leaning over and kissing her.

"Umm, but think about what we can do afterwards." Sam says softly, kissing him again.

"You're going to kill me." He replies, releasing her and sitting down on the bed to pull his boots on. "Did you bring the hat?" he asks

She turns to look at him and smiles. "Actually, that is the one thing I left at home." She says. "But I'm sure we can improvise." Sam replies with a smile, remembering another time when they had been on an assignment in Texas.

"Oh, you're bad." Jeffrey says, standing up and holding out his hand to her.

"That's not you were saying this afternoon." Sam replies, putting her hand in his as they start downstairs. "And you're the one that brought it up." She says, as he grabs his guitar case and amp.

They leave a few minutes later. Putting everything in the back of the truck except the guitar, he opens the door for her, helping her in before he climbs in and starts the truck as she scoots over beside him. About five minutes later, they are pulling up to Jon's Bar. Lizzie meets him at the door.

"Do you realize what time it is?" She asks, as she looks between Jeffrey and Sam.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. We got busy with some stuff." Jeffrey says, walking into the bar. "It'll only take a couple of minutes for me to set up. I'll be right back." He says, turning to Sam, while Lizzie watches before he walks up to the stage leaving the girls alone.

"So, how do you know Jeffrey?" Lizzie asks.

"We've known each other for years." Sam says

Lizzie waits for her to say more, but when Sam doesn't she sort of looks at her and then says, "I've got to go take care of the bar."

"Okay." Sam replies, as Lizzie turns to walk away and Sam starts to walk around the room.

Most of the room was filled with very young girls, probably between the ages of 21-25, mostly college kids from Springfield U and other universities near by. As Sam walks through the room, she caught snatches of conversation, one thing is certain nearly every one of the girls are there to see if they could get Jeffrey to take her home at the end of the night.

She is leaning against the bar, sipping a drink when Ava walks up to the bar. "Hey Sam." She says.

"Ava, how are you?" Sam says, putting her drink down.

"I'm good."

"Is everything okay with Olivia?"

"She's fine. She was surprised when one of the bell boys told her about you and Jeffrey leaving."

"Did she cause you any problems?" Sam asks, turning to look at her with concern."

"No." Ava says, as Jeffrey walks up

"Are you okay?" Jeffrey asks

"I'm fine."

"Olivia?"

"She's fine too, surprised you left."

"She knows we left."

"Yes."

"Did she figure out your part in us…?"

"No, she was suspicious when I first went down but I don't think she knows that I know where you went."

"I don't want you in the middle of this. If she starts…."

"She's not going to do anything to me." Ava says, as Lizzie comes over. "Can I have a beer?" Jeffrey asks, turning back to Ava.

"Sure." Lizzie replies, pulling out a bottle of Budweiser and popping the top off before she sits it on the bar.

"You will tell me if she starts pressuring you?"

"Yes." Ava replies, as he turns to Sam.

"Are you okay?" Jeffrey asks, after taking a drink.

"I'm fine, but do you realize that half these girls are here to see if they can get you take them home tonight?" Sam asks, sipping her drink.

"Yeah, I know." Jeffrey replies, sounding bored.

"I didn't realize you were so popular."

"It's a curse really." Jeffrey replies, still looking bored as Sam starts laughing.

"Oh please, you're enjoying every minute of it." Ava says.

"Okay, so maybe I am." Jeffrey replies. "But I'd still rather take you home at the end of the night." He says, as Lizzie clears her thought. "Yes, Lizzie." Jeffrey says, turning and smiling at her.

"Don't you think you should get started, they're getting restless?" She says, looking at her customers.

"Okay." Jeffrey says, sitting his beer on the bar, he leans over and gives Sam a quick kiss before he walks towards the stage. "Good evening ladies and… well ladies." Jeffrey says, looking out at the audience. "I'm sorry we're getting started a little bit late tonight, but I hope you'll stick around for a great evening."

Jeffrey starts to play one of his older songs and then he does a couple of covers of old Beatles songs. One of the ladies in the audience requests a song and he does that one. He does a couple of country and western songs, giving them a rock flavor before he goes back to his original material.

A couple of hours later, he decides to take a break for about ten minutes before he goes back. Around midnight when he decides to end the show. He does a couple more covers before he turns and takes a drink of beer.

Stepping up to the mic after putting the beer down, he says. "I'm going to end tonight with a song that I started to write several years ago, and it helped me deal with a lot of pain in my life, until a week ago I didn't have the words to finish it. I would like to dedicate it to a very special lady." Jeffrey says, sitting down on the stool Lizzie had provided he looks over at the bar and smiles at Sam. Some of the girls turn to see who he is looking at as he starts to play. "This song is titled, One of These Days.

Verse One:

For months I dreamed, for years I waited, to see you again. I would lay awake at night and pray that in the morning, I would open my eyes and see your smile, your eyes again. Each sun rose, each season past and I didn't see your smile, I couldn't hear your voice in my head anymore as the years past. The road looked dark, and I felt deserted. The years ahead looked gray and bleak.

Chorus:

One of these days, I'm gonna wake up in your arms again. One of these days, you're gonna know this is where you belong, beside me, holding me, loving me. One of theses days the memories will be happy again, and I'll hold you again. One of these days, you'll know my life is yours, and that you hold everything for me.

Verse Two:

Days pass and my mind is fill with heart broke memories, of our moments together. Circumstance change, people come and go, our lives move on but the memories never fade. Then a miracle happened you came back to me. I see your smile and the memories aren't filled with pain, but filled with the reality of knowing that I can have more.

Verse Three:

So much time has passed, so many years we've been apart, but you're as beautiful today as the day you walked into my life. You understand me better than anyone I know. I see us again, I see the future we were building back then and I hope and I pray that I will never know what it feels like to not have you beside me again.

When Jeffrey finishes singing he continues to play a few more chords before he takes the guitar and puts it on the stand, turning to the audience he bows as Sam walks towards him. Stepping off the stage, he wraps his arms around her as she holds him tightly and he feels her shaking. Leaning back, he realizes she is crying. "What's wrong?" He whispers.

"I'm so sorry." She says, laying her head on his chest.

"Shhh baby." He says, holding her tightly. "It's alright."

After Sam is back in control of her emotions, he greets a few of his fans before he goes to the bar. Lizzie is waiting for him. "That was great Jeffrey." She says, looking over at Sam. "Hang on to her, if she's that important to you."

"I will." Jeffrey replies, looking over his shoulder at Sam.

"If you want to, you can play here anytime."

"Thanks, but I think I'm going to be a little busy for the next few months." Jeffrey replies. "If I have the time, I'll come back."

"Whenever you want to play, let me know."

"I will."

"I'm going to go lock up." Lizzie says, walking towards the doors.

"I'll go get my stuff."

Sam is sitting on the stage as Jeffrey walks up to her. Looking up, she smiles at him. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"I didn't mean to upset you with the song." He says, reaching for her.

"No, it's okay. It just made me realize how much pain you were in back then." Sam says, taking his hand and standing up

"It wasn't your fault." Jeffrey says, pulling her to him.

"Some of it was. I should have come to you, instead of going to that house. I should have told you what Sasha told me, instead of trusting her."

"She lied to you Sam."

"But I should have known. I am a Federal agent. I should be able to tell when I'm being lied too."

"She played on the one thing she knew would make you vulnerable, me."

"She counted on me wanting to protect you at all costs."

"Yes, and I don't blame you for that. We were partners, we were more than partners and we promised to protect each other no matter what. You filled your promise."

"Above and beyond that call of duty, I would say." Sam says, reaching up to wipe away a tear.

"Shhh, it's alright. We're here, we're together and nothing or no one will come between us again." Jeffrey says, holding her tightly

"We're good." Sam whispers into his neck

"We're more than good." Jeffrey replies, leaning back to kiss her. When he steps back, he looks down and smiles at her. "You want to help me break this stuff down so Lizzie can close up."

"Yeah sure." Sam says, reaching up and wiping the tears away as Jeffrey steps on stage.

A few minutes later, they have everything packed up and loaded into the back of Jeffrey's truck and after telling Lizzie goodnight, they head back to the loft. Sam is sitting on the bed when he comes upstairs from checking the locks and turning the lights off. Sitting down on the bed beside her, he reaches over and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I was just thinking that I have to go back tomorrow." She says, looking over at him.

"I know, but it's not till tomorrow evening so we'll have all day together."

"I don't want to go at all." She says, moving to lay her head on his shoulder.

"I know, I don't want you to either, but you have to take care of Richard and your other patients."

"Richard is pretty much healed. There's not a lot I can do for him, it's up his therapists and him. The other patients, Dr. Frost can take over. I don't want to leave you."

"I know you don't but you also don't want to leave them until your positive they'll be okay."

"Jeffrey."

"I know you Sam, once you start something you won't leave it until it's finished. How long are those other three agents going to be in the hospital?"

"I really only have two of them. The one with the head injury was turned over to neurology." Sam says, pulling her boots off

"So, you have the one that lost the baby." Jeffrey says, pulling his t-shirt over his head

"Yes, and I can't do anything about that, only time will heal that. And now that they are stabilized it's just a matter of their bodies healing from the surgery and the blasts."

"How long will that take?"

"They'll be in the hospital for about a week and then if no complications arise, they'll finish recovery at home, so I'd say a week two at the most. If Agent Mallory slips into deep depression from the lost of the baby, psych. will have to take over her case. That will leave her partner."

"Is there anything you can do to help her?"

"Beside what's already been done, no. We've started her on anti-depression meds, and she's been assigned to a psychiatrist. All we can do is wait." Sam says, reaching to pull her tank top off before she stands up, unsnapping and unzipping her jeans, she pulls them off until she is standing beside him in her underwear.

Standing up, he unbuttons his jeans before he sits back down and pulls his boots off and then stands up again, pushing his jeans down, he kicks them off before he turns to her and realizes she is about to put on a t-shirt and shorts to sleep in. Reaching out, he stops her.

"Don't, I want to feel you touching me like we did last night." He says, leaning over and kissing her.

"Okay." She whispers, after he takes a step back. Reaching back, she unsnaps her bra and then pulls her panties off before she turns and climbs into bed, with him behind her after he takes the rest of his clothes off.

Lying behind her, he pulls her back against him, softly kissing her shoulder as he drapes his arm across her waist. "So, in a matter of weeks you could leave the agency."

"Yes, at the most. I don't want to only have you on the weekends." Sam says, turning over so she can look at him.

"I know you don't but it's only a couple weeks, at the most." Jeffrey replies "I won't like it either but it's certainly better than not having you here at all.

"I'll never leave you like that again, I promise J." She says, looking him in the eye before he leans over and kisses her for a few seconds before she puts her head on his shoulder and the he pulls her to him.

"I know you won't. Close your eyes." Jeffrey whispers, gently rubbing his hand up and down her back until she falls asleep and then he falls asleep after her.
