A Fresh Start

Chapter Sixty Two

Walking into their bedroom, they get ready for bed without talking. Sam is lying on her side of the bed when Jeffrey comes back upstairs from checking to see if everything is locked up. Lying down beside her, she moves over to him. Laying her head on his shoulder as she snuggles in closer to him, lightly kissing the side of his neck, she says. "I love you."

"I love you too, both of you."

"You're really not mad that I hit her."

"No."

"But." Sam says, moving to sit up. Looking down at him, she watches him for a few seconds. "Say it?"

"What if something happened? What if Harley hadn't've been there to break you two up? You're pregnant. What if she knocked you down? Or kicked you instead of slapping you?"

"I would have…." She looks over at him. "Okay, I shouldn't've reacted to her. But you weren't there. You didn't hear what she said or how she said it." Sam says, lying down again.

"Don't get mad." Jeffrey says, rolling to his side and watching her.

"I'm not mad, not at you." Sam says, turning to him. "I'm tired of her implying that I stole you from her. I'm tired of listening to her whine about… everything." Sam says in frustration.

"Calm down." Jeffrey says, reaching for her.

"I am calm." Sam says, as he puts his arm across her waist and pulling her to him.

"You're calm! Is this the pregnancy hormones talking?" Jeffrey asks, teasing her.

"Funny." Sam says, moving closer to him.

"Please try not to let Olivia get to you. Let me worry about her." He says, softly kissing the side of her neck.

"Umm, okay." Sam says, moving over to her side and facing him. "I did get something for us today." She says, looking up. "From Marsha's."

"You did."

"Yes, do you want to see it?"

"Umm, sure." Jeffrey says, as Sam sits up and pushes the covers back.

Jeffrey watches her walk over to the dresser, picking up a pink bag, she goes into the closet. Taking the pink negligee from the bag, she puts it away along with the robe, she pulls out another negligee. The same style as the first one only this one is black and shorter. Falling just above her knees and showing off her legs. Laying it on the bag, she pulls her t-shirt and boxers off before she reaches for it and slips it over her head. She smiles as the cool satin slips down her body, lightly caressing her.

Before she returns to the bedroom, she looks in the bag to make sure there is nothing left in it. She's surprised to find something else. Pulling it out, she quickly realizes that it's the teddy that Olivia was trying to give her. She stands there for several minutes until Jeffrey calls, "Sam."

She continues stands there for a few more seconds, before she lays the teddy on the dresser. Turning the light out, she walks over to the door as Jeffrey's getting out of bed. Looking up, he stares at her for a few moments before he swallows and asks. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." She says, trying to sound cheerful as she stands in the doorway.

He realizes what she's doing and asks. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, do you approve?" She asks, as she walks towards him.

He watches her as she walks towards him and he stands up. Putting his arms around her waist, he pulls her to him. "Do I approve?" He asks, looking down at the negligee. "Umm, I would have to say yes."

"Good, I'm glad." Sam says, looking up at him and smiling.

Leaning over, he kisses her softly as she moves closer to him. Slowly running her hands up his arms and wrapping her arms around his neck as he deepens the kiss, trying to draw her closer to him. After a few moments, he leans back and looks down at her, slowly moving his eyes over her face before he says. "You're beautiful Beca."

Smiling, she leans up and kisses him again. This time she breaks the kiss. Taking a step back, she slowly moves her eyes down his body. Listening to him breath and feeling the heat building inside of her. She knows how much he wants her. When she reaches his hips, she stops her survey for a few moments. Watching his body responding to her, slowly she licks her lips as he takes a deep breath and she looks up.

Taking a step closer to her, she lays her hands at his waist as he places his hands on either cheek and she winces slightly. "I'm sorry." He says, leaning over and lightly kissing her right cheek as she moves closer to him.

Slowly he moves up to her ear, nibbling and kissing her softly as he feels her holding onto him tightly. "I love you." He whispers in her ear before he moves back to her mouth, kissing her as she moves her hands from his waist. Slipping her hands between his thighs, she holds him as he gasps, closing his eyes as he tries to fight the need to loose control. "Sam." He whispers, laying his forehead against hers.

"Let me love you." Sam whispers, as she moves her hand and begins to tug on his boxers.

Laying gentle kisses on his chest as she moves down his body until she's on her knees and his boxers are at his feet. Laying a hand on her shoulder, he steps out of the boxers as she leans forward and licks him softly.

"Sam!" He groans as he feels deep waves of desire rush through him.

She continues to lick him until he presses against her mouth, silently asking her to take him inside. Taking him in, she takes as much as she can before she reaches for him. Wrapping her hand around him and caressing him with her tongue, mouth and hand.

Burying one hand in her hair, he has the other clinched at his side as he lets his head fall back and let's go. Gently thrusting as she caresses him with her mouth. He feels the rush of hot desire flow through him and he tries to pull away but she holds on, giving him one final caress before his release rushes through him. When the last wave of desire washes over him, he pulls away.

Looking down as she sits back and looks up at him, he reaches for her hand, and helps her up before he pulls her to him. Kissing her as he slowly begins to work the negligee up her body. Moving to her neck, lying soft kisses and light nibbles along her jaw to her ear. He begins to suck lightly on her earlobe as she lifts her arms. After a few seconds, he releases her. Taking a step back, he watches as her body is revealed to him, before tossing the negligee to the floor.

Taking a deep breath, he slowly moves his gaze down her body, resting on her breasts, watching as they rise and fall while she tries to control her breathing and her desire. After a few seconds he moves on to her stomach. Reaching for her, he lays his hand on her stomach as he leans over and kisses her softly. Wrapping her arms around him, she tries to hang onto him but he takes a step back and again slowly moving his gaze back up until he reaches her eyes, and he sees the fire burning deep inside her.

Taking a step closer to her, he kisses her softly as he bends down and sweeps her up into his arms. Turning, he kneels on one knee as he lays her across the bed. Kneeling over her, she watches him for a few moments before she reaches up and lightly runs her finger tips over his face. When she reaches his mouth, he kisses the tips of her fingers before he takes one in, lightly sucking on it, He feels her breath catch.

Releasing her finger, he leans over her. Lightly kissing her, before he moves down to her neck, nibbling as he moves down to the hollow at the base of her throat. He kisses the pulse pounding there. Moving on, he lays little kisses along her upper chest until he reaches the valley between her breasts, he leans back, looking up at her, watching her.

"J." She sighs softly, arching her back.

Leaning over her, he doesn't touch her but lets the warmth of his breath caress her until he feels that she's about to loose control. Moving closer to her, he lightly kisses her nipple before closing his mouth around it, taking it inside, caressing her as she moans loudly, arching her back as she reaches for the sheet below her, clinging to it. Lying down beside her, he continues to caress her breast until he has her completely focused on what he's doing with his mouth then and only then does he begin to caress her other breast with his free hand.
"J!" She cries, arching her back.

He holds onto her tightly, caressing both her breasts as she reaches up and buries her fingers in his hair, holding him against her. For several minutes, he continues to caress her, until he feels her begin to shake as she arches her back and holds him tightly against her. Trying to catch her breath, she slowly releases him. Leaning back, he looks down at her, watching her try to get control again. After few moments, she whispers. "I didn't know I could do that."

Smiling, he leans down and kisses her before he leans back and asks. "Do you want more?"

"Umm." She sighs, reaching for him and pulling him down to her.

"I'll take that as a yes." Jeffrey whispers, lightly kissing her stomach as she lays back.

Closing her eyes, she gives her body over to him. Reveling in every caress, kiss, nip and touch he delivers. When he reaches her hips, she slowly opens them, offering her body to him.

"Sam." He whispers and she slowly opens her eyes.

Looking up, she watches his face as he reaches for her, slipping his fingers between her thighs and lightly caressing her. "What do you feel?" Sam asks softly

"You're warm and slick, but you're hard too." He says, touching her desire.

"J." She cries, arching her hips as she reaches for his hand, holding it against her.

After a few moments, he leans over and whispers in her ear. "Let go."

Looking up at him, she releases his hand. She gasps slightly as she feels his fingers slipping inside her. "Oh, J!" She cries, as he caresses her, slowly rubbing his thumb against her desire with one hand as he pulls his fingers out. After a couple of minutes, she feels her body building up to release. Reaching for his hand, she holds him tightly as he looks up. "I want to feel you, please." She asks.

Releasing her, he moves into position, leaning over her as he slips inside her. Feeling her body closing around him, holding him tightly, that first touch almost pushes him past his control. Reaching for him, she pulls him to her, reminding him that she's apart of this as well. Looking down, he leans down to kiss her as he begins to thrust. "Jeffrey!" she cries, holding onto him.

"Sam." He groans, thrusting deeper.

He feels the moment her body releases control. She begins to roll her hips along with his thrusts. Clinging to him, as he continues to thrust, bringing them both closer to release. Thrusting a few more times, he leans down and swallows her cry as he feels her release fill her, caressing him.

When the last wave washes over her, he thrust again and then a powerful wave of passion burst inside him. Thrusting again for the final time, he fills hers with all the desire and passion burning inside him. "Sam." He groans, collapsing in her arms.

After a few moments, he realizes that he's mostly lying on top of her. Moving to her side, he lays a light kiss on her neck as she snuggles closer to him. After a few more moments, he releases her and rolling to his side he brushes back a piece of hair that is clinging to her cheek. "You're beautiful." He says, leaning over to kiss her cheek.

They lay there for several moments, listening to the silence in the apartment and outside, before he says. "Did she actually call you a whore?" Jeffrey asks, turning to look at her. For a few seconds, Sam doesn't answer, until he says. "Sam."

"Yes, she called me a whore and that's when I slapped her." Sam says, laying her head on his shoulder.

"It's alright." He says, running his finger through her hair. "I'll take care of it." He says, as he feels her sigh softly and knows she's fallen asleep.

He lays there for a few while holding her and thinking about her standing in front of Olivia, defending him and their relationship and a part of him feels intensely proud, but another part of him is afraid. Afraid for Sam and the baby and afraid of what Olivia will do to them. He knew that she was desperate, but he hadn't realized how desperate she was. He couldn't understand why she refused to let this go. Sighing softly as he closes his eyes, he pulls Sam against him as he falls asleep.

Olivia is standing in the bathroom, staring at her reflection. Her whole right cheek is bruised. She had a hard time explaining to Emma what had happened when she had put her to bed earlier. Turning, she flips the light off as she walks out of the bathroom. Reaching for her cell phone laying on the table by the bathroom door, she walks out to the balcony as she dials the number for Simmons. After a couple rings, he picks up.

"Hello."

"Are you ready yet?" Olivia asks without identifying herself.

"I'm working on it."

"They are getting closer, we have to move."

"This takes time, especially with who we're working with. We have to be careful and we have to plan."

"I'm tired of waiting. They are getting closer. Something is about to happen, I can feel it. How close are we to getting what we need?"

"I've spoke with my contacts, and he's supposes to call me back tomorrow with information on what we need."

"Alright, what happens then?"

"As soon as we receive the item we can move."

"And how long will that take?"

"It shouldn't be more than a few days. As soon as they receive the money, we'll receive the merchandise. You've got to be patient."

"I am being patient. She's still alive."

"Don't do…."

"I'm not going to do anything, but I'm getting tired of waiting. He's getting closer to her everyday. I can't afford that. I have to have him. He is mine." Olivia says, completely oblivious to the fact that she sounds completely crazy.

"I'll be in contact in a few days, as soon as I hear from my contact. Until then, sit still and keep doing what you are doing." Simmons's says.

"Fine, but hurry up." Olivia says, hanging up without his reply.

Josh is sitting at his desk at Lewis going over contracts for a new project Lewis is taking on when someone knocks on his door. "Come in." he calls, still looking over the contracts when the door opens and one of Lewis's lawyers come in.

"Mr. Lewis." He says, stopping in front of Josh's desk.

"What is it Mark?" Josh asks slightly distracted.

"I need to discuss something with you." He says, sitting down in front of Josh, even though Josh didn't offer him a seat.

"Okay." Josh says, putting the contract down and look over at the lawyer.

"I've run across some documents in my predecessor's files. Documents I believe you have prior knowledge to, judging from the note in the file." He says, holding out a file

Taking the file, Josh opens it and then looks up at the lawyer. "Where did you find this?"

"It was in my predecessor's files. As you can see it's an amendment to your father's will."

"I know what it is. Has anyone else seen this?"

"No, not that I know of."

"I want this file destroyed."

"Do we know who this third son is?"

"No, it doesn't matter."

"The file says that the other son was in the Chicago area."

"I know what the file says. I've read it before. It doesn't matter. Destroy the file."

"Yes sir, but mentions a woman's name, A Delores Margaret O'Neill." Mark says, reading from the file.

"I know what it says, destroy it, completely, all of it."

"Yes Sir." Mark says, getting up and walk towards the door.

He's about to walk out of the office, when Josh asks. "You haven't spoken to anyone else about this, have you?"

"No."

"I'm ordering you not to say a word about this to anyone, especially my brother Billy or my wife Reva, nothing to either of them."

"Yes Sir." He replies, before he walks out and closes the door behind him.

Jeffrey and Sam spent Sunday lying around the apartment. He played her some of the stuff he and boys had been working on while she was out. They had just finished dinner when Jeffrey remembers that Sam had said that she had a couple things happen Saturday. He is sitting in living room when she walks in from kitchen. "You said a couple of things happened yesterday, what was the other one?" He asks, as she sits down beside him.

"Ah, I don't… Oh I remember. I ran into Jacob." Sam says, sitting back

"Jacob?"

"Yes, Jacob, Dr. Westbrook, from the…."

"Where did you see him?" Jeffrey says, his voice changing.

"Over in Oakdale."

"Oakdale, you went all the way to Oakdale. Was that before or after Olivia?"

"Afterwards, I had something to take care of over there and he as at the shop that I went to. Actually his family owns the shop and he's on family leave from the agency." Sam says, glancing over at him. "You're not still…."

"No, no. I'm just surprised. I thought…."

"You thought that you wouldn't have to see him again. He's no threat to you or us."

"He…."

"No matter what he wants, it doesn't matter." Sam says, reaching for his hand. "I was as surprised as you when he walked out of that back room. But I was there for… what I had to take care of and it didn't matter that he was there."

"What are you not telling me?"

"Nothing, I saw him, we chatted, I took care of the business I needed to take care of and then I came home."

"This was after Olivia. Did he see your cheek?" Sam looks away. "Sam." Jeffrey says, turning her face back to him.

"Yes. He saw my cheek."

"And what did he say?"

"He asked me what happened and I told him I had an accident."

"And?" Jeffrey asks, still watching her.

"He thought that maybe you were the one that caused the accident." Sam says softly.

"Me, he doesn't even know me and he thought that I was the one that hit you. He's got some…."

"I set him straight and you're right. He doesn't know you, or he never would have jumped to that conclusion."

"Why are you defending him?"

"I'm not. I'm trying to make you realize that it doesn't matter and to keep you from over-reacting."

"He thought I hit you."

"Yes, so what, he thought you hit me, did you, no. So does it really matter what he thought, no. He's in Oakdale."

"And you're never going to see him again."

"I didn't say that? He's family is doing some work for me."

"I don't what you around him."

"Would you relax? He thought it was you that hit me. He knows that it wasn't you because I told him it wasn't. He's no threat to you or to us." Sam says, as Jeffrey gets up. "Are you reacting this way, because it's him? Because I think if it was anyone else you wouldn't care."

Jeffrey turns to look at her and then sits back down. "Alright, so maybe I am reacting this way because it's him."

"Well, you can relax. What he thinks doesn't matter?" Sam says, moving to sit across his lap.

Looking up, she smiles at him until he begins to relax and she leans over to kiss him, changing the direction of their conversation.

It's about two am, when Jeffrey rolls to his side. Reaching out, he wakes up when he doesn't find Sam in the bed. He's about to get up when she walks in the room with a bowl in her hand.

"What are you doing?" He asks, leaning up on one arm.

"I woke up and I wanted some ice cream and cake. So I went downstairs and got some." She says taking a bite of the gooey cake she fixed for Ava and ice cream.

"Is there any left?" Jeffrey asks, looking at the bowl in her hand.

"Yes, and I'll share if you're nice to me." She says, sitting the bowl down between them and then laying down.

"You'll share you're chocolate, who are you and where did you put my fiancé?"

Sam reaches over to slap him. "Just for that I won't sha…." Jeffrey leans over and kisses her. "Okay, I'll share." She says, feeding him a bite of the cake and ice cream.

For the next several minutes, they take turns eating the cake and ice cream and when they are done, Sam puts the bowl on the table beside their bed before she turns back to Jeffrey

"That was good." He says, leaning over. "Thank you." He says, as he kisses her.

He intended it to only be a soft quick kiss but when he tastes the chocolate on her lips, he moves closer to her, deepening the kiss. After a few moments, she moves closer to him. Laying one arms across his waist as he pulls her closer to him. After a few more moments, he leans back and says. "You taste good."

"Is it me or the chocolate?" Sam asks, looking up at him.

"Both." Jeffrey replies, leaning back over and kissing her again.

He holds her close as he moves to his back. She can feel him pressing against her and his desire makes her need burn hotter. Deepening the kiss, she moves to kneel over him as he reaches up to hold her in place, burying his fingers in her hair as it falls around them, acting like a veil, hiding them while lightly caressing his arms and body. He feels his desire burn hotter inside him.

After a few more moments, she breaks the kiss. Taking as deep a breath as she can, she begins to move down his body, kissing and nibbling across his chest and stomach. Releasing her, he lets his hand fall to his side as he closes his eyes, letting her do as she pleases. Looking up, she slowly runs her hand down his chest, lightly scratching him as she moves down. When she reaches his waist, she stops.

Looking up, she reads the hunger burning inside him. "I love to watch you when you want me." She says, idly moving her hand across his stomach.

"What do you see?"

"Desire and passion, but I also see respect and love." Sam replies, as she leans over and lightly kisses his lower abdomen.

"I do." Jeffrey replies, slowly running his fingers through her hair.

"And I know that you're not like other guys."

"How do you mean?"

"Well, if for some reason we didn't do anything, or I decided that I didn't want to do anything right now, you would be okay with it. You might have to excuse yourself for a minute or so, but you would be okay."

"I hope it would take more than a minute." Jeffrey says, teasing her.

"You know what I mean?" Sam says, looking up at him.

"Yes, I do. And we'll do whatever you want to do, but please…."

She leans over and kisses him, shutting off his request and assuring him that she has every intention of finishing what he started. Laying her hand on his inner thigh, she leans over and kisses him again.

Reaching for her and laying his hand on her side, he slowly moves it up to her breast, holding it in one hand with the other buried in her hair and responding to her kiss, he's wrapped up in her until she reaches for him.

Closing her hand around him, she remains there for several seconds, holding him while they kiss. Slowly she begins to caress him, lightly moving her hand along his body, slightly squeezing him as he caresses her breast, playing with her nipple until she breaks the kiss. "J" she whispers, laying her forehead against his chest for a few seconds.

Looking up at him, she watches him as he continues to caress her, keeping rhythm with him. After a few moments, he moves one hand to her side, slowly moving it down her body until he reaches her lower abdomen. Stopping, he leans up to kiss her for a few seconds before he moves his hand again. Moving it down, between her thighs, lightly he caresses her. It's not enough to bring her release, but it's enough to distract her

Looking up, she holds him tightly as she begins to rock her hips against his fingers. "Do you want more?" he asks softly, she looks up as he caresses her. Slowly she begins to nod. "I didn't hear you." Jeffrey says, watching her as she moves her hips, reaching for his hand.

"J, please!" She whispers.

"You know what to do." He whispers, lightly kissing the side of her neck as she moves away from him.

Kneeling over him, she reaches for him again. She feels hot waves of desire wash over her as he enters her. Settling his hands at her waist, he holds her tightly. That is the only indication he gives of how desperately he needs her.

After a couple seconds, she begins to move, slowly rocking her hips as he reaches for her, laying his hands at her hips, he begins to move with her, thrusting against her sliding hips while she begins to move a little faster and he holds on to her a little tighter.

"Beca!" He whispers, thrusting a little harder as she begins to rise and fall.

Taking him deep inside her, she feels her release break. One last thrust and she collapses in his arms, her body shivering as he wraps his arms around her.

Rolling to her back, he leans up and begins to thrust with intense determination and desire, after a few moments, he feels his release rush through him, filling them both with intense waves of release. When the last wave fills them, Jeffrey lays down beside her. Laying his arm across her waist, he lightly kisses the side of her neck before he whispers. "You can wake me up with gooey cake and ice cream anytime."

Snuggling closer to him, Sam doesn't answer. Looking down, he smiles when he realizes she's fallen asleep. Lightly kissing her forehead, he whispers. "Sleep, my Beca." Closing his eyes, he's asleep again within a matter of moments.

The next morning, Jeffrey is up early. Even though he spent about an hour or so awake the night before, he wakes up refreshed. Pushing the covers back, he slips out of bed, being careful not wake Sam. Turning he watches her sleep, for a few moments before he reaches for his boxers and heads downstairs.

Walking into the kitchen he puts a pot of coffee on, only making enough for himself, since Sam hasn't been able to stand the smell of it since a few mornings earlier. Walking into the bathroom, he quickly shaves and then jumps into the shower. Ten minutes later, he turns the water off and wrapping a towel around him, he heads upstairs.

Glancing at the bed, he sees that Sam is still asleep. He walks quietly into the closet. Flipping the light on, he glances at the dresser and he notices a piece of lingerie laying on it. Walking over to it, he picks it up thinking that Sam had bought something else for them, until he realizes what he's holding. He feels anger rush through him. Laying the teddy, back on the dresser, he gets ready quickly.

Walking into the bedroom, he sits down on the bed being careful not to wake Sam. Putting his shoes on, he gets up. Reaching for his phone and his change he glances at Sam. Stopping he watches her for a few moments, before he whispers. "I'll take care of it." Turning he walks quietly from the room.

When he gets downstairs, he grabs a piece of paper and writes "Beca, I'll be home tonight a little later than normal, so don't worry. I love both of you. J." Slipping the note under a magnet, he makes himself a cup of coffee, pouring the rest out and cleaning up the pot and kitchen before he opens the window to let the smell out. Leaving the kitchen he flips the light off as he walks over to the door. Grabbing his keys, he walks out, locking the door behind him.

Walking downstairs, he glances at Sam's car as he walks to his truck and he remembers the teddy, lying on the dresser and he feels anger fill him again. A few minutes later he leaves, followed by Ralph. Pulling up to city hall, he gets out of his truck and locking the door he heads for the police station instead of his office.

Frank and Mallet are sitting at their desks when Jeffrey walks in. "Good morning." Jeffrey says

"Mr. Mayor." They both reply.

"Is something wrong?" Frank asks.

"I need one of you to take care of something for me. I need a restraining order filed against Olivia." Jeffrey says, leaning against Mallet's desk.

"Is this because of Saturday outside of Marsha's?" Frank asks.

"What happened outside of Marsha's?" Mallet asks, looking back and forth between Frank and Jeffrey.

"Olivia and Sam had an altercation outside of Marsha's Saturday afternoon." Frank says, watching Jeffrey.

"Why wasn't there any report made?" Mallet asks.

"Harley witnessed it and broke them up. From what Harley explained nothing really happened."

"Nothing happened, Sam's got a bruise on her cheek from where Olivia slapped her and… Look I know it's a difficult situation for Olivia, but she's got no right to insult my fiancé and then physically attack her…." Jeffrey says.

"Harley said that Sam was the first to…." Frank points out

"She was, but only after Olivia harassed her. Look all I want is a restraining order against her."

"Jeffrey, we can't issue a restraining order because your fiancé had a scuffle with your ex. If anything Olivia has grounds for a restraining order since…."

"She's pregnant, Mallet." Jeffrey says. "What if something else happened? What if Olivia had pushed her down, or kicked her instead of just slapping her. I know Sam. She wouldn't have slapped Olivia if she didn't have cause."

"I understand your concern, but legally there's nothing we can do. In the eyes of the law, there's no reason to issue a restraining order against Olivia. No one's heard her make any threats against Sam. This altercation, Sam made the…."

"She only did that because Olivia…."

"Maybe Olivia did instigate this incident that happened Saturday, but Mallet's right Jeffrey, we can't issue a restraining order simply because Olivia and Sam slapped each other and Sam's got a bruised cheek."

"Mallet, you said yourself that we needed to watch Olivia, after the Spaulding fund raiser."

"Yes, I did, so I suggest that you watch her. But we can't issue a restraining order. You should know that Jeffrey." Mallet says.

"Fine." Jeffrey says, standing up.

"And we don't need you to get arrested because you took matters into your own hands. If you're arrested, who would be…?"

"I'm not going to be arrested, but I will protect my fiancé and baby." Jeffrey says, turning and walking out of the station as Mallet turns to Frank.

"Did you know he…?"

"No." Frank says, getting up from his desk.

Mallet watches him for a couple seconds, before he goes back to the report he was working on before Frank had come in. When Jeffrey left the station, he goes to his office, Stacey is there.

"Stacey, I'm going to be out of the office for the next couple hours." He says before he turns around and walks out of the office.

Driving back to the loft, he had to figure out a way to keep Sam safe. He knew she would never leave him and he couldn't let her go, not yet, even if it would protect her. Pulling up to the loft, he notices that Sam's car is gone. Opening the truck door, he gets out and walks up to the building and then inside. Walking upstairs, he pulls his keys from his pocket before he reaches his floor. Walking up to the door, he unlocks it. Opening it, he walks in and then closing it behind him. He heads towards the stairs.

When he reaches their bedroom, he glances at the bed, even though he knows that Sam's car wasn't downstairs. Walking into the closet, he looks at the dresser and finds the teddy still sitting there. Walking over to it, he picks it up. He walks out of the closet as Sam comes in the room. "Hi." She says when she looks up and sees him.

"Hi." He replies, as she looks down and sees what he's holding.

"What are you doing?" She asks, pointing to the teddy.

"I'm taking care of business." Jeffrey says, as Sam walks over to him.

"Taking care of business, I was going…."

"I'll take care of it." Jeffrey says, reaching for her.

"Are you sure? I was going to take it back to Marsha's that's why I came back…."

"No, I'll take care of it. How did you get it anyway?"

"I don't know."

"Did she force you to…?"

"No, maybe Harley mixed it up with my stuff when she picked up the bags. I don't know."

"This is what had you upset last night."

"I wasn't really up…."

"Sam."

"Alright yes, it upset me."

"Well, don't worry about it. I'll take care of it." Jeffrey says, walking towards the door.

"What are you going to do?" Sam asks, following behind him.

"I don't know, but I'll think of something." Jeffrey says when they reached the living room.

"Whatever you do, remember that this is Ava's mother."

"Ava's mother or not, I'll protect you first."

"You have to think about that."

"I will." Jeffrey says, walking towards the door.

"And also remember that you're no longer a federal agent, you're not..."

"I'm not going to physically hurt her, but she'll get the message." Jeffrey says, turning in the doorway.

"Alright, I'll see you tonight." She asks, holding the door.

"Yes, and don't worry about this." Jeffrey says, leaning over to kiss her.

"I'm going to worry until I see you tonight." Sam says, looking up at him.

"Well, don't."

"That's like tell a prisoner not to think about water when he hasn't had any for days. I'm going to worry."

Sighing softly, Jeffrey takes her in his arms. "I know you are." He says lightly kissing the top of her head. "I'll call you afterwards, will that make you feel better."

"Yes." Sam replies, nodding as she holds him

After a few more moments, they release each other and Jeffrey turns to leave.
