Chapter 41

Emmett POV

Rosalie had something going on in that pretty little head of hers, I just couldn't figure out what it was yet.

And there was another problem brewing in my own mind as well, and even though Rose had said that she didn't want to meet her mother, I was still searching for her in secret.

I just had in inkling in my mind that she had been denying her true want to meeting her biological mother…and father as well. She had been adopted by a bad couple, losing the one mother she thought she had, and had been abused by the only father figure that she had ever known.

Rose got along great with my family, her glowing personality slowly shimmering to the surface as her harsh past got pressed behind her. Alice and her were stuck together at the hips lately, making it much easier to continue searching of the whereabouts of her biological family.

"Are you sure you should be doing this?" Edward asked gently, looking through the window that reflected Bella, Alice, and Rosalie sitting with my parents inside the house.

I nodded, "I think Rose really does want to see them…but she feels as though she should say no for some reason."

"But what if she's right, Emmett? What if she was really right about the woman who gave birth to her really didn't want her in the first place?"

"I have to at least try to find out the truth, instead of going on just a hunch, Jazz—you know how hard this is! You would have done the same thing for Alice—"

"But what if Alice's parents didn't want to see her, and she didn't want to see them, Emmett? Yeah, say I found them and hoped to find out the truth; but it seems like it would be more for myself than for Alice. I just wouldn't be able to comprehend someone throwing their child away, especially someone as good natured as Alice. You might have to accept that things might end badly, Emmett; because this isn't just about you anymore, it's about Rosalie and your baby!"

"Goddammit I know it's not just about me! I hasn't been about just me since I've met her damn you! I want to find out the truth instead of leaving it shrouded!"

"Stop fighting, you idiots—you're going to make them come out here!" Edward hissed.

Jasper and I broke apart to look inside guiltily, flinching when we saw all four of the women and my father staring at us with concerned looks through the window.

Rosalie was staring at me with a piecing gaze, her brows drawn down in suspicion as her hands lay protectively on her swollen, still growing belly. She could see through me like no one else could, she had gotten under my skin that keep. She arched a brow, her lips pressed into a lip as she nodded at me—gesturing to what had just happened, and ended just as quickly.

I smiled gently, shrugging nonchalantly at her probing gaze; she wasn't buying it, no way in hell.

"I'm fucked, she sees right through me." I whispered, breaking eye contact with her.

Jasper and Edward both laughed uneasily, "They always know, Emmett—welcome to being with intuitive women." Jasper said as he broke his gaze with Alice, who was tapping her fingers on her hip.

"How exactly are you finding information about Rosalie's family? You obviously haven't been doing anything except for going to the hospital and straight back home." Edwards inquired.

"Dad had already dug up some information about Rose's family, apparently they had been sighted in Seattle, we just need an exact address to set up a meeting." I said, scratching the back of my head uncomfortably. I could feel Rosalie's gaze burning into me from behind, but I had no answers to offer her, not right now.

"Are you planning an impromptu trip to Seattle when you get the address?" Jasper asked gently.

I sighed and nodded, "Yeah that was the plan I came up with. I'm expecting a call from the PI Dad hired in the next couple of days, I'll go from there."

Edward spared a glance up at Rose, who was still glaring at all three of us as if she wanted to interrogate us. I swallowed thickly.

"Godspeed to you brother, you're going to need it. She's an angry pregnant momma with hormones raging. They go from wanting to have sex, to full on murder mode," Jasper whispered with mock horror, but he kept his back from the prying eyes to avoid more trouble.

"You're gonna get me into trouble!" I playfully shoved him, roaring with laughter when he almost fell back against the moist grass surrounding us.

"Ha! You can do that yourself! Good luck with her later, she's gonna stay calm until you get home, then she's gonna blow like a volcano." Edward chuckled.

"Watch yourself man, or I'll make sure Bella gets mad you man." I said playfully.

"Go ahead and try!"

Their words proved to be true—ever so slightly.

Rosalie was eerily calm through the rest of our visit, and on our way home. She kept my right hand clasped in hers, holding it tightly. She was shaking slightly, and when I asked her if she was okay, she told me to keep driving.

I did as she said, but I obviously knew that something was wrong with her, she never acted this way.

I pulled into my driveway, pulling into the garage. Rosalie released my hand and got out of the car before I even had my seatbelt off. I followed after her, not knowing how to ask her what was wrong as she rushed to the bedroom with hurried footsteps.

"Rose, what's wrong honey?" I asked, closing the door behind me, sealing us in the room. I turned on the lights, shocked to see her on her knees before me.

"Baby, what are you doing?" I asked, my voice quivering.

Tears leaked down her face, her lower lip quivered, and she floored me with her next sentence.
