A Fresh Start

Chapter One Hundred Sixty Nine

He puts his arm around her waist, pulling her to him as he lies back against the rock, reaching up with his other hand, burying his fingers in the hair at the nape of her neck, opening his mouth to play with hers as she lies against him.

Pulling away, Cassie leans back and smiles at him. She watches him for a few minutes before she moves away. Shrugging out of the hoodie, she reaches for the waist of her sweatshirt and pulls it up, never moving her eyes from his. Slowly he sits up, watching her intently as she pulls the sweatshirt up.

He shrugs out of the flannel shirt and then reaches for his waist, pulling the t-shirt out of his jeans and up. For a couple second, Cassie stops, staring at him. Leaning over, she reaches for his mouth and kisses him again before she sits up. He crosses his arm and pulls his shirt over his head and tosses it down on the rock.

He sits up as Cassie reaches for his waist. Her fingers shaking slightly and he notices. Reaching for her hands, he stops her and she looks up. He leans in, kissing her. Reaching for his waist again, she unfastens his belt before pulling the button open. She reaches for his zipper as he reaches for the button on her jeans. He opens it and reaches for the zipper. They both slowly pull them down before she moves back.

Standing up, she slips her fingers inside the waist band of her jeans she tugs them and her panties down until they are at her feet, kicking them off, she pushes them over to where her t-shirt lays. He watches, amazed at the woman being revealed to him. Bending over, he pulls his shoes off before he stands up. Pulling his jeans and boxers down until they are at his feet, he steps out of them before pushing them over to his shirt.

Lifting her chin, he leans over. Kissing her, his tongue slipping inside to play with her as he feels her breast against his chest, slowly his arms come around her, as he kneels and she follows before he lays back. Looking up at him, she moves over him as he leans in to kiss her. Putting his arm around her waist, he pulls her closer as she deepens the kiss and he holds her tightly.

She buries her fingers in his hair as he slowly moves his hands down her back, pulling her against him. They remain there for several seconds, giving and taking until she leans back and looks down. After a few seconds, she moves away from him and he reaches to hold on. "Let me." She whispers, as he lays back and looks up.

Moving to straddle him, he watches as she slowly moves her eyes over his face and down his chest. Placing each hand at his shoulders, she leans over him. Rising up, he tries to kiss her, but she pulls back. After a couple seconds, he tries again and she pulls away again. "Cassie." He whispers and she smiles softly. "Don't tease me, I want…."

"I know what you want." She whispers, leaning over to kiss the side of his neck, nibbling softly.

She works her way up his neck, caressing him, nibbling and running her tongue along his ear before moving down his neck. She feels him responding to her, his erection growing beneath her, pressing against her thigh as she moves down his neck to his upper chest.

Sitting back, she smiles when he groans softly. He reaches out, cupping her breast as she closes her eyes and moans softly. He plays with her nipples, caressing them until they become harden nubs pressing against his hands.

Reaching for her, he pulls her to him. Taking her breast into his mouth, he gently caresses her as she lets her head fall down, laying it against him for a few seconds before she reaches for him. Laying her hand on his chest, she moves down, lightly caressing him until she reaches his nipples. She caresses him as he continues to love her with his hands, playing with her nipples. "Richard." She moans, pulling away from him.

Reaching for her hips, he holds her against him, pressing their bodies together. She can feel his erection, pressing against her. "Baby, I want to…."

"I know." Cassie whispers, slowly moving her eyes over his body while he watches her, he sees her lick her lips and he feels intense sparks of desire rush over him as he reaches for her.

Leaning over him, she lightly kisses his body, nibbling over his heated skin. She stops for a few seconds, licking softly and playing with his nipples until they press against her mouth and then she moves on. Delicately kissing his stomach and lower abdomen until she reaches the thinning hairline below his navel, looking up she watches him for a few moments.

"Cassie, please." He groans, reaching for her and trying to move her along.

Laying her hands on his thighs, she moves back and leans over him. He can feel the heat of her breath caressing his body. Hot waves of desire course through him as he reaches for her while clinching his other hand into a fist. "You're driving me…." He stops for a second to catch his breath and she looks up at him through her lashes.

"How am I driving you?" She asks softly

"Darling, please. I need…."

He doesn't finish as she lightly licks his erection, slowly running her tongue around the tip of him. "Cassie." He groans, arching his back and pushing for her to take more of him.

Opening her mouth, she takes him inside. Caressing him as he thrusts against her mouth, she plays with him up until he pulls away, looking up she catches the look in his eyes. She sucks in a deep breath reading the desire in his eyes. "Turn around." He whispers, after a couple swallows. She moves around until she's kneeling over him. her knees pressing against his shoulders as she takes him again, moving her tongue over his erection. He reaches up, opening her desire to him. The air feels cool against her. He leans up, taking a deep breath. Inhaling the desire rushing from her.

She jumps at his first caress and for a moment she's frozen. Lifting his hips, breaks her free from the paralyzing desire that's coursing through her. She begins again, loving him while he plays with her, loving her with his mouth and tongue. She feels his release building, and with one final kiss she releases him. Pulling away, she turns around, moving over him, she guides him inside her. "Richard." She gasps, closing her eyes as she sinks onto him.

"Cassie." He groans, laying his hands on her hips and holding her tightly, his fingers leaving white marks on her skin where he's holding her

Slowly she rocks back and forth. After a few moments, he thrusts against her sliding hips. Placing her hands on his chest, she begins to rise and fall, taking him deep inside her each time while he brushes against that secret place inside her.

After several seconds, her breath catches before hot waves of release rushes over her, tightening her body around his, caressing him from the inside. Those final caresses bring him over the edge, holding her hips tightly. He thrusts for the final time before hot waves of passion course through him.

Looking up, she smiles softly as she leans over him. Kissing him as he wraps his arms around her, rolling her to her back, he thrusts again. "Ah, Cassie." He groans.

"Richard." She whimpers, closing her eyes and arching her back. Reaching for his driving hips, she holds onto him tightly, slowly rolling her hips with his thrust. Richard." She cries, as again hot waves of passion rush over her.

A few more thrust and she feels him stiffen as his releases burns through him again, flooding her with his release. When the last wave overwhelms him, he collapses in her waiting arms. Wrapping her arms around him, they hold each other until he leans back and whispers. "I love you so much."

"I love you too." Cassie whispers, lightly kissing his chest.

"I want more." Richard replies, wrapping his arm around her. But the rumbling in his stomach breaks them apart.

Laughing, Cassie sits up and hands him a banana as she peels another orange. They eat in silence until all the fruit is eaten, each taking turns feeding each other different pieces of fruit, cheese and bread, drinking the water that he bought too. They lay there beside each other, listening to the forest around them, the water rushing over the waterfall, after a while they make love again. He is laying beside her, holding her to him.

Feeling her shiver, he releases her and then gathers up their clothes. They get dressed. He sits back down, leaning against the picnic basket as she sits down beside him. Laying her head on his chest, her arm across his waist. He gently plays with her hair until he looks up and realizes the time. "I think we need to be heading back."

She looks around and then slowly pulls away from him. "You're right. We need to go before it gets dark. He helps her up and then he gets up. He folds the blanket while Cassie gathers up the trash from the picnic and puts it in the basket before closing it and picking it up. He reaches for her. Slipping his free arm around her waist, he pulls her to him. "I love you." He whispers softly, leaning in to kiss her.

"I love you too." She mumbles, deepening the kiss for a moment before he pulls away.

"We need to go before it gets later."

"Okay." She takes his hand, leading him back to the trail. They start back for the cabin.

After James left the next morning, Olivia lays in bed thinking about Emma, Ava and James. She had tried to pretend that she could ignore Mallet's questions and that he would never find out about the plan she had to kidnap Jeffrey. She knew the evidence was circumstantial but the look on James's face the night before haunted her. Getting up, she gets Emma up, ready and off to school. Going into her office, she stops at her assistance's desk. "I'm going to busy on a private matter. Could you cancel all of my appointments?"

"Of course, Ma'am."

Olivia leaves the office and goes upstairs. Going to her room and into Emma's room she goes to her closest and packs her a bag. She then goes into her bedroom and pulls out a lock box that she kept there. Opening it, she looks through it before she pulls out some papers. She opens them and looks them over making sure that everything was in order before she folds them back up and goes to get Emma's bag. She then goes into the living room and sitting down at the writing desk, she pulls out a some paper and begins to write a letter.

James,

I want you to know that I have treasured our time together and I am sorry that things have to be this way. But there are things that I need to take care of and one of them being this. I did not tell you the truth last night about the plot to kidnap Jeffrey. I did plan to have him kidnapped, right after Richard and Cassie's wedding. I also planned to frame Sam for the kidnapping. I know that I have to take responsibility for this. That is why I am going to Mallet and I'm going to tell him everything. I will understand if you want nothing more to do with me. But I want you to know that the reason I didn't go through with my plans was because of you. You saved me and I hope that maybe you will forgive me for what I've done. I won't say that I love you, but I care deeply for you and I hope you have a happy life with your family. And please take care of Cassie. She's had a very hard life as you know.

Yours Always

Olivia

She slowly reads the letter over and then folds it up, putting it in a envelop she signs his name across the front and then writes a letter to Jeffrey and Sam, And another to Ava and the final one to Emma. Getting up, she looks around the room before she gets her purse, Emma's bag, the letters and the papers giving Ava custody of Emma and her interest in the Beacon. She looks around once more before she leaves. Going downstairs, she drops off the letter to James, pauses for a moment, looking around at the hotel that she built from nothing. Turning she walks out of the lobby and over to her car. Getting in, she backs out and leaves. She stops at Emma's school first. Walking in, she stops at the office. "Ms. Spencer." The Principal says.

"Hello, Mrs. White. Do you have a moment?"

"Of course." She walks into her office with Olivia following behind her.

"I came by today to let you know that I'm going to be going away for a while. Emma will be staying and I wanted to let you know that I have signed over custody of Emma to my daughter Ava. She will have full responsibility of Emma while I'm away."

"How long will you be gone?"

"I don't know at this point."

"I'll be sure to inform Emma's teacher."

"I appreciate it. I am going to speak with Ava this afternoon, so she will be here to pick Emma at the end of day."

"Yes ma'am."

"Thank you." Olivia says, getting up.

"Ms. Spencer, if you don't mind me asking. Where will you be going?"

"You'll find out soon enough." Olivia says before opening the door and walking out of the office.

She leaves Emma's school and goes to Lewis Construction. She walks in and up to the front desk. "May I help you?" A lady asks, looking up.

"Yes, could you tell me where Ava Peralta's office is?"

"Yes, she's on the second floor. Turn right after you get off the elevator and she the third office on you left."

"Thank you." Olivia says, walking towards the elevators.

She waits for them and walks on when the doors open, pushing the button for the second floor, she steps back. The doors close and she looks up watching the numbers change before the elevator stops and the doors open and she walks out. Turning right, she walks down the hall to the third office. Opening the door, she walks in as Ava's assistant looks up. "May I help you?"

"Yes, I'm Ava's mother. Is my daughter in her office?"

"No ma'am, she's out of the office right now. She should be back in a couple hours. If you need to speak to her, she's over at the Mayor's house."

"No, could I leave this in her office." Olivia asks, holding up the suitcase and letters.

"Of course, ma'am. Go on in."

"Thank you." Olivia says, walking over to Ava's door. She opens it, looking around before she walks over to the desk and sits Emma's suitcase down on Ava's desk, laying the letters on top of it. She looks around again before she walks out of the office, closing the door behind her. "Thank you." She says again before she leaves.

When she's finished at Lewis, she goes to City hall. For a moment, she pauses outside. This will be the hardest. Jeffrey deserved the happiness he had found with Sam. And she was fairly certain that he would have the hardest time forgiving her, especially the part of the plan to frame Sam for the kidnapping. Sighing, she opens the door and walks in. Looking at the board, she finds Jeffrey's office and then walks away. She walks in a few moments later as Stacey looks up. "Ms. Spencer." She says, surprised.
"Is Jeffrey in his office?"

"No ma'am, he's in a meeting right now. Could I help you with something?"

"I need to leave this for him. Would you please make sure he gets that as soon as he gets out of his meeting?" Olivia asks, holding out the letter.

"Of course." Stacey says, taking the letter.

"Thank you." Olivia says, turning she leaves.

Walking out of the building, she gets in her car and drives around the block. Pulling into the police station, she sits for several moments in front of the station. Slowly she opens the door and gets out. Taking a deep breath and holding her head high, she walks into the station. She walks up to the desk sergeant's desk. "May I help you?" He asks, looking up.

"Yes, I need to see Detective Mallet." Olivia says, looking up.

"Let me see if he's in. Who are you?" The desk sergeant asks.

"Olivia Spencer, I need to speak to him about the O'Neill case." Olivia says, as he nods.

Pushing a button, he waits for Mallet to answer. "Detective Mallet." He says, after a couple rings.

"Sir, there is a Olivia Spencer here to see you. She wants to speak to you about the O'Neill case."

"Olivia is here?"

"Yes sir."

"I'll be right there." Mallet says, getting up as he hangs up the phone. He walks towards the front of the station. When he comes out, Olivia is sitting on one of the benches. "Olivia." He says, walking up to her.

"Yes." She says, standing up.

"You wanted to speak to me about the O'Neill case."

"Yes, is there some where we can talk privately?"

"Right this way, follow me." Mallet says, leading the way back into the station. He walks up to one of the interrogation rooms, opening the door. He steps back and lets her enter first before he walks in behind her closing the door behind him. "Please have a seat." He says, motioning to one of the chairs.

She walks over to the table and sits down with Mallet sitting down across from her. When they are settled, he says. "You wanted to tell me something about the O'Neill case."

"Yes, I've come to tell you the truth." Olivia says quietly.

"You want to tell me the truth."

"Yes, what I told you yesterday was not the truth. I've realized that I can't hide from this and I've also realized that to make amends is some fashion I need to admit to what I've done." Olivia says, looking at Mallet.

"You want to confess."

"Yes. I know about…."

"Before you say another word, I must read you your rights Olivia." Mallet says, interrupting her. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can and will be used against you. You have the right to an attorney to be present during questioning. If you can not afford an attorney one can be appointed to you by the court. Do you understand these rights?"

"Yes."

"Do you wish to have an attorney present?"

"No, I want to get this over with and face what I've done or planned to do."

"Alright, could you wait for a moment so that I can get something to record this conversation?"

"Of course." Olivia says, as Mallet gets up. He's only gone for a few moments before he's back again.

"Now, are you ready?" He asks, placing the tape recorder on the table between them the microphone facing Olivia.

"Yes." She replies, after taking a deep breath.

"For the record will you confirm that I have read you your right and that you have of your own accord refused council?"
"Yes."

"Could you state your name for the record?"

"Olivia Spencer."

"And can you tell me why you are here?"

"I've come to admit to the plan to kidnap Jeffrey O'Neill, Mayor of Springfield and to admit to planning to frame his wife Samantha O'Neill for that kidnapping."

"Has anyone in this department coerced you into this confession?"
"No, no one. I am here of my own free will to admit what I have done."

"Can you tell me what happened?"

"I'm not really sure where this all started. But I guess I will start at the beginning. As you know, Jeffrey and I knew each other when we were younger, in San Cristobel. We were both at a party given at the American Embassy in San Cristobel the summer of my seventeenth birthday. I went to a party one night at the American Embassy. I went with the intention of being treated as an adult. My mother was very protective of all of us and very strict and I rebelled. The night I met Jeffrey, we were both very drunk. After the party, he took me upstairs, to one of the bedrooms in the embassy. We began to fool around and were going to make love when I passed out.

Jeffrey left me there in the room alone while he went to sober up. During the time that he was gone Prince Edmund Winslow entered the room. He had been harassing me through out the evening but Jeffrey kept chasing him off. Prince Edmund forced himself on me, but I didn't know that. I was passed out. When he was finished, he left and about an hour or so later, Jeffrey returned. I had started to wake up by the time he returned and we eventually did make love. He left after we were finished and I was asleep.

When I woke up, I remember very little about the night before. I got up and I got dressed. It wasn't until about six weeks later that I realized that I was pregnant. When I realized that I was, I went back to the embassy to try and find Jeffrey. I met with a man named Ditkins. He informed me that Jeffrey had been removed from the island shortly after the party after it was discovered that he had taken advantaged and raped one of the guests at the party. He advised that I cease trying to find Jeffrey and to give my child up for adoption if I wasn't able to care for it.

I eventually did that. When Ava was born, I saw her for a moment before she was taken and given to her adoptive parents. They left with her and I was left to go on about my life. And I did. I raised my brother and sister. After my mother found out that I was pregnant, we had a fight and during that fight she had a massive stroke and died. I was left to raise my younger siblings. I went on with my life. I went to college and began to work at the palace. I never remembered Edmund's attack during the years at the palace, but I never felt comfortable being in the same room with him either.

After Princess Catherine or Reva left Richard. I started spending a lot of time with him and eventually, he asked me to marry him. We were about to announce our engagement when Reva came back to San Cristobel and it was revealed that I had been hiding Richard's son, Jonathan from him. Richard could never forgive me for my part in the plan to protect Jon and he broke off the engagement. I loved Richard deeply and it broke my heart when he refused to marry me after announcing that he would remarry after Jon was found and safe. I then started dating Reva's ex-husband Josh Lewis when he and Reva split. We were married but that relationship didn't last because I was unfaithful to him and we divorced. I was involved with Alan Spaulding, and then Phillip Spaulding and we had a baby girl, my daughter Emma. Phillip then went crazy and he kidnapped his kids. That ended our relationship and I became involved with Frank and then Buzz Cooper. I bring up all of my past relationships because I'm not sure if the reason I couldn't stay committed to a man was because of something inside me or what happened that night with Jeffrey at the embassy.

It was during the time that I was involved with Buzz that Jeffrey came back into my life. Jeffrey had been in Springfield for a few years before I realized who he was. I didn't realize it until Jeffrey ran for Mayor and on election day, I happened to see Ditkins on Main Street. I confronted him and he informed me that the man that raped me that night was none other than Jeffrey O'Neill.

"If Jeffrey was in town for a few years before the mayor's race, why didn't you recognize him before then?" Mallet asks.

"Jeffrey O'Neill now doesn't look like the Jeffrey O'Neill that I knew at that party. His face is completely different because he was made to look like Richard to play his double while investigating death threats against Richard."

"So you went on with your life up to the point that you recognized Ditkins on Main street and you confronted him."

"Yes, I confronted him about what happened that night after the party. He told me that Jeffrey was the man that raped me that night."

"And what did you do?"

"I confronted Jeffrey and then I did everything in my power to keep him from being mayor after Blake was attacked mistakenly. At the time I had just found out that Ava was the daughter that I had given up. I did everything I could to keep her away from Jeffrey, but the truth came out. During this time, I was also planning my wedding to Buzz. Buzz is a great man, a good man and I did love him but I couldn't get over or forget what had happened with Jeffrey.

I was drawn to him but I resisted that connection and the more I resisted the more I wanted to be with him. It finally all came to a head at the light house. One night I was at the light house and Jeffrey happened to be there as well. He heard me crying and he came to see what was going on. At first we fought but then it changed. And I told him that I didn't see him as the man that raped me that night in San Cristobel. We kissed but Jeffrey wouldn't do anything else. He said that if I wanted to see where we could go with our relationship, then I had to tell Buzz the truth. He left me at the light house that night.

When he left, I went to Buzz and explained that I was calling off our engagement. I told him that I had started to have feelings for Jeffrey and that it wasn't fair to him to pretend otherwise and marry him. I know I hurt Buzz and I'm sorry I did. But I couldn't get Jeffrey out of my head. Buzz and I would have been happy together. He loved me and he would have taken care of me and Emma but I couldn't forget Jeffrey and I couldn't forget what had happened in San Cristobel, which makes no sense because to be honest I don't remember my time with Jeffrey or with Edmund, I barely remember the party, let alone everything that happened afterwards."

"When did you decide to kidnap Jeffrey?"

"After he brushed me off when I told him about Ava being pregnant. But this started before that. I originally asked Reggie…."
"Who's Reggie?"
"Simmons, Reginald Simons. I asked him to find someone to look into Sam's past. I wanted to know everything about her. All of it, how they met? What their relationship really was. I wanted to know who her family was, where she came from originally. That's where Schultz comes in, Reggie hired him to break into Sam's apartment in DC, he wasn't supposed to leave any evidence behind, but I guess he did. Anyway, he trashed and searched Sam's apartment. He found nothing. Reggie, I guess ran the background check because he couldn't find out where she worked. He couldn't out any information before the point that she turned up in Nashville three months after she left Jeffrey in Russia. There was nothing."

"Why did you want to know about Sam?"

"I thought maybe if I knew everything about her, I would know how to get him away from her. I didn't think it consciously, it was in the back of my mind after he brought her to Springfield the first time and I tried to evict him from the Beacon. He confronted me and told me that if I did anything else he would sue me for harassment and tell Frank that I broke into his room.

"And did you?"

"I went to his room in the middle of the night. I had seen them come in earlier. He had his arm around her. And they looked so close. I tried to stay away from his room but some where around 3am I found myself outside his room and I could hear them in the hall. They were making love. And I felt so much jealousy. I left and before I realize what I was doing, I was standing in his doorway with the door open and he woke up.

"Why did you leave?"

"I went to get the master key. I don't know what I was thinking. I don't know how I got downstairs and then back upstairs. I was just there and he was lying beside her with his arm around her, holding her tightly and they were both asleep. I went back downstairs after he woke up and saw me. I went to my office and I wrote up the eviction notice. The next morning, I gave the notice to one of the bellmen and told him to deliver it to Jeffrey's room. About ten minutes later, he was in the lobby and dragging me away from a customer and to my office. We fought and then he left after telling me if I did anything else he would sue me for harassment and tell Frank that I broke into his room. Sam was in the lobby when he left. I followed him and I watched him put his arm around her and they went upstairs together.

"What did you do?"

"I went back to my office and I called Ava and I told her something. I don't really remember what I said to her, but about thirty minutes later, she was in my office offering to go to brunch with me. We left the Beacon and that's when he left for the loft, using Ava to keep me distracted.

"So, Jeffrey brushed you off about Ava and you decided to do what?"

"I wasn't really sure at the time. I went after Jeffrey because he was so high and mighty about Ava. Accusing me of lying, defending Sam in the days after Ava got back from San Cristobel. Insisting that Sam was a part of Ava's life because she was apart of his life. I tried to get him to see that it should have been us together. I always tried to get him to see that. Every time I fought when him it was to get him to see that he belonged with me and not Sam.

"So after you decided to go after Jeffrey when did the plans for the kidnapping start?"

"I guess it was about week or so later, Simmons called me with a plan to kidnap him. We had the place to hold him, the inn. It was secluded, no one knew about the place. It was small enough that Ralph and Reggie would be able to keep Jeffrey quiet and he wouldn't get away. When we decided to kidnap him, we had to come up with a way to get him. He obviously wouldn't come quietly with us. We would have to persuade him. I didn't want him hurt, that's how the idea came to drug him. Reggie tried to use his connection in New York to get the drug but they were busted so he had to find someone closer. He found a dealer in Chicago and purchased the GHB. I had him make one of the rooms ready for Jeffrey."

"When you say him, who do you mean?"

"Reggie, I gave him orders to board up all the windows in the back room, I had him take out all the furniture, leaving only the mattress and a blanket. He took out the heater and anything Jeffrey could use as a weapon."

"Where was Schultz during all of this?"

"Watching Jeffrey, he was told to follow him everywhere he went. He parked outside the loft and watched him. He followed him to City hall, around town, wherever he went, Schultz was there."

"In his statement Schultz said he followed him jogging and that's where the idea came to kidnap him."

"If he followed him I didn't know anything about it, but that was how we came up with the idea to kidnap him. Up until then I had no idea what I wanted to do to Jeffrey after the Spaulding gala and the fight we had about Ava. I just knew that I wanted him to pay for turning his back on me, not once but twice."

"Why did he break up with you?"

"Cassie called him one morning to ask him to get in touch with William. She had been trying for days without any success. Jeffrey told me about the call and then later that day we went to the farm so he and Emma could to riding. While he was in the barn saddling the horse, I was in the house with Cassie. He overheard me warning her to stay away from Jeffrey. We had a fight and I left. He took Emma riding and then he brought her home. He broke up with me then."

"You supported him being named Mayor, why?"

"Jeffrey's a good man, and he didn't deserve what I put him through after the mayor's race, especially since we had found out together that he wasn't the one that raped me that night."

"You found out, how?"

"Ditkins admitted it to us."

"Jeffrey seemed to act guilty after his past was revealed."

"I think he felt guilty about his part in what happened that night in San Cristobel. I think he thought that he was responsible since he was the one that got me drunk that night."

"So, after Reggie got the drugs, how was it supposes to happen?"

"The original plan was to have Schultz slip Jeffrey some of the drug. Not enough to knock him out, but enough to make him sort of drunk. He was going to follow him and possibly force an accident and then after the accident he was supposed to get Jeffrey and then move Sam to the driver's side to make it look like she was driving. He was then supposed to take Jeffrey to the inn and he and Reggie were supposed to wait for me."

"You said that was the original plan, what changed?"

"Sam spotted Schultz sitting outside the loft. If he showed up at Cassie's wedding, she would know that something was going on and warn Jeffrey."

"So, how did the plan change?"

"Reggie gave me the GHB. That's how it got into my glove compartment. I had been invited to Richard and Cassie's wedding. I would be close enough to slip him the drug but would also have an alibi if they were caught.

"Why didn't you go through with the plan?"

"I met James and he made me realize that everything that happened wasn't all Jeffrey's fault. I was to blame too. I went to that party wanting to be treated like an adult. I let Jeffrey buy me the drinks and I pretended to be older than what I was. Jeffrey may have known I wasn't as old as I was pretending to be, but I let him believe it too. Ava tried to make me see that, Jeffrey did too, but James said it to me in a way that I realized he was right. And he showed me that I could be happy without Jeffrey and that Jeffrey had the right to be happy himself. After Jeffrey's accident, Reggie contacted me about possibly trying to take him before the wedding, but I told him to wait. I hadn't made up my mind whether I was going to go through with the plan. And then Schultz was arrested and I decided not to finish it. After Schultz was released. Reggie helped him get a car and sent him to Canada. He never made it obviously. I told Reggie to clean the inn up, destroy everything and leave town. I had forgotten about the GHB in my glove compartment until your officers found it, or I would have gotten rid of that as well."

"Is that all?"

"Yes, that the whole story." Olivia says, as Mallet turns the tape recorder off.

"You realize that your in a lot of trouble. Even though you didn't actually carry out the plan, you still can be charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Kidnapping alone will get you 25 to life and conspiracy is just as serious."

"But we didn't do anything."

"The moment you sent Reggie to that inn and he purchased the drug it went from simply talking about something to conspiracy to commit kidnapping. That doesn't include the breaking and entering charges that can be filed against you for Schultz breaking into Sam's apartment in Washington. You're in serious trouble here." Mallet says, getting up.

"What happens now?"

"I will need to speak to the DA and he will decide if he wants to pursue charges against you. You'll need to wait here while I speak to him." He says, walking over to the door. "I'll be back as soon as I'm able to speak to him." He says, opening the door. "I would also suggest that you contact your attorney." He says before he walks out, closing the door as Olivia sits back.

Twenty minutes pass before Mallet comes back to the room. It was the longest twenty minutes of Olivia's life. She looks up when he walks in. Looking at his face, she knew what the DA had decided. "He's pressing charges."

"Yes, if you will stand up." Mallet says, walking over to her as she stands up. "Olivia Spencer, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Anything you say can and will held against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can not afford and attorney one can be appointed to you by a court of law. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them?"

"Yes." Olivia says, putting her hands behind her back. Mallet cuffs her and then lead her out of the interrogation room. He leads her through the station to be booked.
