Sometimes we all need a visit from a relative when we're lonely.
Setting: Blaster Dark's quarters
Time Setting: 9:15PM
"What is it?!" Blaster Dark growled, still facing the fireplace. Darkside Trumpeter backed up a little, thinking of cowering behind the wooden sturdy door for support. This wasn't a good time..
"A cloaked figure wishes to see you, sir." She said, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice. EVERY Shadow Paladin (Besides the commander) was near fearless, but one of the most terrifying things was an angry Blaster Dark. They would rather fight 3 Kagero dragons than face a horrible lecture and/or beating from Blaster Dark.
"Any weapons? Magic?"
"No weapons detected on his person, sir. Magic was not detected by Skull Witch Nemain." She stated.
"Appearance?" Cloaked figure. 5"7 and male, judging by his voice and build. No identification was given, but he snuck in and was found standing by your quarter door at 8:45PM until guards had-"
"Did I ask for further information?"
"No sir." The dark knight sighed angrily. He had a long day, and he just wanted some peace and quiet.
"Let's just get this stupid business over and done with." He muttered quietly.
"Sir?"
"Bring him in." She was about to protest, but decided against it and went outside. Moments later, a cloaked figure was shoved in by two guards, Blaster Rapier and Blaster Javelin.
"Well. They could have been kinder. Sheesh." He brushed the dust off his shoulders. Seriously, the dust in those dungeons.
"Blaster Blade. Take off that voice changer and sit down." Blaster Dark gestured to the empty comfy-looking armchair next to him. Blaster Blade chuckled, took off the voice changer and dusty cloak, left it in Blaster Dark's dining table and joined him by the fireplace.
"Mmm. Warm and toasty." Blaster Blade moved his open hands in front of the flames and rubbed them together.
"How did you even sneak in?" Blaster Dark asked, glaring at the bright orange flames. He turned away from them moments later.
"Well, I travelled alone, by hors-"
"Get to the important part." Blaster Blade chuckled. Blaster Dark was always impatient.
"A kind guard let me in after I offered him a pouch of gold pouch of gold coins." Blaster Dark scoffed.
"How much?"
"12 gold crowns."
"And what else?" Dark asked. He made a mental note to run this new 'test' to all guards in the castle. Only this time, he would fire them. That would be their 'wonderful gift'.
"After that, I wandered around until I got to your quarters. I remembered the castle layouts from the last time I had come, though I had used all of my sleeping darts on the guards tha-"
"I didn't need to hear that." Blaster Blade sighed.
"And then I got caught by your 'lovely' guards. Any questions?" His answer was another silence.
"Why are you here?" Blaster Dark asked, suddenly. Blaster Blade shrugged as his brother got up and started pacing back and forth behind the armchairs.
"I thought you were lonely, and since I had free time on my han-"
"How could I POSSIBLY be lonely? I can simply call in servants to entertain me."
"Let me rephrase that. I thought you were lonely because I wasn't with you." Blaster Blade stood up and faced his brother while saying this. Dark turned and grabbed a piece of Blade's clothing. Apparently, the annoying paladin had either changed or came without his armour in a normal set of clothes.
"You thought wrong. What makes you think I would miss you? Hm?" Blaster Blade smiled softly as he stared at his brother.
This made Dark seethe with fury. Blade wasn't going to answer the question. No, he was simply going to smile! SMILE.
Dark grabbed the royal paladin's belongings and shoved them into Blade's hands forcefully.
"Dark?" Blade asked. His brother shoved him towards the door, and opened it.
"Leave me, go sleep in the guest quarters. I demand you be out before dawn tomorrow. Guards!" Dark growled. Blaster Javelin and Blaster Rapier turned around abruptly.
"Guards!," He repeated. "Take this man to one of the guest quarters. He must be gone by dawn tomorrow." He hissed. Blaster Blade was thrust into Rapier's arms as before the guards could say "Yes, sir!" Dark had already slammed the door closed, and he went back to his seat.
After a few minutes, Blaster Dark sighed, and took his helmet off. Today had been a rough day for the dark knight. There was a ridiculous amount of meetings, and he had received a lot of paperwork.
"Stupid idiot." He muttered angrily to himself. How the hell would he know that his annoying brother would come visit on Christmas Eve and not send a messenger?
"At least I didn't kick him out of the castle." He murmured as he placed his helmet on the armchair's left armrest. If only he could start this meeting again. The guilt wasn't going away.
Setting: Outside Shadow Paladin kingdom
Time Setting: Dawn
Blaster Blade held an apple out to the rainbow-maned unicorn. Starlight took a sniff and bit into it. He fed her a few more apples for her breakfast whilst running his fingers through her mane.
"Were you okay last night?" He asked. Starlight Unicorn snorted.
"Why wouldn't I be fine? I'm a battle horse, I know how to handle being alone." Her look seemed to say. Blaster Blade chuckled.
"Alright, alright. I'm just asking. Let's get back to the kingdom, shall we?" Blaster Blade heaved himself onto Starlight Unicorn. The mare didn't move until he was seated.
"Good girl." He patted her, and then noticed something on the ground. He dismounted and picked up a white envelope. He looked at it, and mounted the unicorn again. She whinnied impatiently.
"Let's go already!"
"Okay, we're going. For real." He tapped her with his foot and she started walking at a steady pace. He opened up the envelope and read its contents.
"Hello brother.
I've written this to apologise for my rude behaviour last night. I know, it isn't like me to say sorry, but... sorry. That day put me in a foul mood and I unleashed that anger out on you.
If you ever want to visit just send a messenger. Blade, I will personally kick you out if you sneak in like that again.
On that note.. Merry Christmas.
-Blaster Dark
P.S. Don't get any ideas and DO NOT show this letter to anyone. Burn it."
Blade chuckled as he read the letter over again a second time. He ignored the last sentence at the bottom of the page. He sure as hell wasn't going to burn this up. Blackmail material.
Blaster Blade turned in his saddle and looked back at the dark fortress of a castle. He could have sworn he saw a knight waving from a window.
Then close the curtains.
He sighed. Same old Shadow Paladi-
The curtain was suddenly pulled open again and now a Christmas tree stood there with shiny baubles, tinsel and small lights. Blade chuckled as he turned forward in his saddle, but then he suddenly realised something.
"I seriously hope he isn't going to take it down as soon as I'm out of sight."
Author's Ending Section:
Maybe he will, and maybe he won't.
I honestly wasn't sure where to put this story in. 'On Cray' or 'Days in the Castle'? But then I realised that this story has NO 'The Royal Pranksters' references in it whatsoever, so it was safe to put it in here.
I have 4 requests to get through, so when I'm all out, I'll be asking for more. Please review, favourite and follow! I'm doing my best to not be lazy, think of more ideas (for myself, in case I don't get any requests) and update my other fanfic, 'The Christmas Performance'. It's really stressful, but I'm doing my best. My motivation is the fact that all of you, my friends, are awaiting my updates and that makes me really happy, so thank you all.
On that note, (I really have to find some other way to end my sections) goodbye everybody! Have a Merry Christmas, and I hope you all stay safe!
