Snarling, Jasmine dug her claws into the asphalt, ignoring the screams of the humans around her as she scented the air, wolf eyes darting up and down the street. Cat's scent - augmented by her blood - hung heavy in the air, mixed with male aggression and the sharp stink of exhaust.
Her ears twitched, ignoring the cries of fear and horror around her, focusing on the traffic, her right ear swiveling when the sound of screeching tires caught her attention. Cat's scent on the air trailed in the same direction, and Jasmine lunged, vaulting over a shrieking woman and then bouncing off the roof of a parked car.
Traffic screeched to a stop around her as she hit the ground running, muscles stretching, her wolf finally free to move. It was simple to dodge and dart through traffic, fast enough to avoid getting hit by any cars, leaving more screams and shrieks of car crashes and twisted metal in her wake.
Her nose and ears were focused on the trail of the black sedan that was ahead of her, the driver of the car obviously thinking that they were in the clear: there were no signs that he was aware of her presence. But, then again, she'd never let anyone at the Fights know that she could Shift into a wolf.
Claws scratched against the asphalt as she sped up, the wind of her running ruffling her fur. If she wasn't hunting down the bastards who had dared to kidnap her pup, she might have actually enjoyed herself. But anger, rage and fear twisted in her gut, instincts screaming - find the pup, kill the thieves, eliminate the threat to the Pack.
Huffing, Jasmine took a corner too fast, twisting to bounce off the side of a parked van in order to keep from overshooting. Damned streets, so clustered. A horn blared in her left ear, the heat of an engine coming far too close as she darted in front of a taxi, then squeezed between another car and a motorcycle.
More screaming was left in her wake, the motorcyclist's very audible 'what the fuck' pulling a low, canine chuckle from her.
There, ahead, she finally spotted the car she was tracking, golden eyes narrowing when she saw that there was a struggle happening in the backseat. Caught sight of a familiar sneaker kicking someone upside the head. Hang on pup, I'm almost there. Growling, Jasmine let loose, muscles bunching as she poured on the speed, gathered herself, then leapt.
She landed on the roof of the car, the entire vehicle bouncing a little on it's tires at her sudden weight. Keen hearing picked up the baffled yells from within, and she snarled, tail lashing to keep her balance as Jasmine sunk her claws into the weak metal, and proceeded to peel the car open like a sardine can.
Managed a brief glimpse of Cat's frightened gaze before bullets filled the air, the car under her weaving to the right. She stumbled a little, wavering, before regaining her balance and reaching in for the man to the right of the pup, grabbing a fistful of his shirt and literally throwing him over her shoulder.
Felt no mercy at his shriek as he flew through the air, and paid no attention to where he landed. Merely dropped down to all fours to stay on the car as the driver started to weave erratically, his screaming making her ears lie flat to her skull. The man to Cat's left cursed, then tried to grab the struggling teen to use her as a shield, or possibly a hostage, but Jasmine stopped that idea before it could take hold, effortlessly grabbing him by the scruff of his neck and lifting him.
He cursed into her face, teeth bared in a laughable attempt to intimidate her, and she snarled, lips pulling back to show him what real teeth looked like. When his answer was to raise his hand to try to shoot her, Jaz merely tossed him to the side, smirking when he instantly slammed into the side of a truck with enough force that he became embedded into it's metal.
Bullets tore through the roof of the car from the driver, some of the projectiles missing her by a hairs-breath, cutting through the fur on her tail. Deciding that enough was enough, Jasmine reached into the car again to offer a wolfish hand to Cat, rumbling softly.
The teen, thankfully, didn't hesitate, and Jaz easily lifted the pup onto her back, feeling Cat grab handfuls of her fur to anchor herself.
Wolf instincts slightly calmed by the presence of the pup, Jasmine carefully crawled her way along the car, perching on the trunk. Grinning, fangs bared, she braced herself, then stretched a fore-paw out and used her claws to slash the back right tire of the car.
The driver instantly panicked when the car swerved, the rim throwing up sparks as it bounced against the asphalt. Howling triumph, she leapt from the car, throwing her entire weight onto it to further unbalance it.
She landed on the roof of a van, denting it and feeling Cat's legs tighten on her sides as she turned to survey the sedan. It swerved some more, sparks filling the air as it careened from one row of parked cars to the other, the driver trying desperately to get it under control, tires screaming as he slid sideways into an intersection...
Only to be taken out by a large pickup truck.
Fangs bared again in satisfaction, Jasmine turned her head to peer at Cat out of one golden eye, whining a question. The teen, long used to dealing with her in her wolf form, merely sent a slightly paled look at the nearby traffic accident, then tightened her hands on dark fur and nodded.
Taking that as leave, Jasmine turned and leapt to the sidewalk, ignoring more yells as she ran for the nearest alleyway, darting past a stinking garbage bin before lunging upwards, one clawed hand closing on the side of a fire escape, the other reaching back to support a startled Cat.
Clamoring up the side of the fire escape took only seconds, and it was only when they were safely on the roof that Jasmine allowed herself to relax a little, ears flicking to and fro as she took stock of where the hell they were. Huffed a sigh moments later when she realized that the chase through the city had taken them far, far, from the motel.
Moving in the daytime in her wolf form wasn't her first choice. But Cat's weight on her back, the worried scent coming from the teen, drove her forward. It would be a trek, and she'd have to stick to the rooftops and alleyways, but there was nothing that was going to stop her from reuniting with the Pack.
