They will remember.
The units on Cray always do.
From the smallest bugs of Megacolony, to the knights of myth and legend of the Royal Paladins, and the great beasts of Kagero...
Within the depths of their souls lie something. Something almost indescribable.
An inkling feeling that ties them to the physical cards on Earth... and the warm, distant memories of their battles and experiences.
They remember every face - every frown of defeat, and every smile of victory. All of their past avatars whom they were proud to fight alongside with. It was once so clear to the card units, but now the details have become blurry, and their names are forever just on the tips of their tongues...
They know, when their avatars have moved on. Beyond the card game that once connected them, onto bigger, better, and newer things. Jobs that they need to attend to in their own world, people they need to be with, and new things to see.
And that's okay.
The units move on too. They look ever forward to the new battles that await them, and the new faces of the coming avatars that they'll remember.
But they will never forget you.
And you will never forget them.
Author's Final Note:
I began writing fanfiction on this site in 2013, and that was a decision that has changed my life forever. Writing became my own little niche, separate from my friends around me, and has become a plant I have tried to tend to throughout my years of schooling that seemed to always get busier and busier. I could hardly ever attend to it, the same way I could back then.
But now, I'm finally starting to be able to write again. Write new, fresh stories for the current things that inspire me, fanfiction and original. I have reflected on my past and realised I was the "Explorer of Stories", someone who searched for gems that wound up shaping their life in a profound, yet small way. And writing fanfiction gave me a taste of what it was like to be the "Maker of Stories", to create things for other people to enjoy. I understood the overwhelming satisfaction and pleasure one gets from finishing a story. It's breathtaking and liberating.
I hope to impart that feeling to my audiences someday, and so I'm choosing to pursue a writing career in the future.
I still see my works getting an average of 100 views every month, with On Cray racking up about 45% of them, and hence I wanted to provide a final, definitive piece for those people who do.
Thank you very much for reading my work, and inspiring me to pursue my dream of writing. I write now on Archive of Our Own, under the penname "Flowtonair", but I will never forget that this is where I started.
And for the last time, stay awesome everybody.
