Chapter THIRTY THREE

The first battle participants had been chosen.

Nobarly VS Risely Law

Gray Fullbuster VS Lyon Vastia

Orga Nanagear VS Mira Jane Strauss

Hibiki Lates VS Sting Eucliffe

Jellal leaned back on his chair. "Seems like you're taking part." He said, looking pointedly at Sting.

Said Dragon Slayer leaped to his feet, eyes scanning the board. He let out a groan. "I have pretty boy." He complained. "Why can't I fight someone like Mira-san."

"Cause you'll get your ass handed to you on a silver platter." Cobra sneered. "Make sure you don't lose."

Sting sprang to his feet, but Lucy quickly intervened "Gray and Lyon are fighting. I wonder who'll win."

Sting paused. "They're both Ice mages, right?" Lucy nodded.

Sting shrug.

"I think Mira-san will win, and Sting-san can probably beat Hibiki-san." Wendy said.

Sting turned to the Sky Dragon Slayer. "Probably?" He asked.

Lector nodded from atop Sting's head. "Yeah! Sting-kun is the best." He said. "Of course he will win!"

Rogue sighed.

The first match between the mages of Quarto Cerberus and Mermaid Heel ended rather quickly, with Risely as the winner.

The match between the two Ice mages ended in a draw, as the winner hadn't been decided even when the thirty-minute timer rang. Both mages still had enough energy to glare at each other before storming back to their guild stands. Midnight muttered that it was more of an Ice sculpture contest than a battle.

The battle between Mira and Orga was more exciting, though it was pretty obvious that it was one sided. Mira must have been feeling very generous, as she let Orga stagger to his feet, before pummeling him again. That was pretty much how the whole battle went, until Mira flung him into a wall, and knocked the Lightening God Slayer unconscious.

"Finally!" Sting cheered, before leaping over the balcony and landing in a cloud of dust. Who had more fans, Sting or Hibiki, was debatable. Nonetheless, the screams of the fan-girls were eardrum-ripping.

Sting was the first to move, the moment the 'Go!' signal was given. He hurled forwards, his fist enhanced with light. Hibiki managed to dodge the blow, which smashed into the ground where the Archive user had been standing on a second ago, creating a crater.

"Tch." Sting leaped back a few feet and smirked, which resulted in more fan-girl creaming.

Lucy groaned and covered her ears. "Can't he just finish it already?" She asked. "Strength wise, he's way stronger than Hibiki."

Cobra nodded, hands on his temples. He groaned. Lucy figured being able to hear people thoughts didn't help, especially in these cases. She glanced around to see Rogue and Wend covering their ears as well.

Midnight simply sat there, an annoyed look on his face. Jellal was glancing around at his guild mates, shaking his head.

Feeling sorry for them, as well as still slightly annoyed from their encounter with the Fairy tail mages, Lucy reached into her pouch and pulled out her key ring.

Midnight and Jellal looked up when she called them and she waved the keys. "Any ideas?"

Knowing glances passed between them. "I would've suggested Aquarius, if she wouldn't blow our cover." Jellal sighed.

"Lucy could do it, but it'll be very out of character in her Valkyrie disguise." Midnight said.

"What about Cygnus?" Jellal suggested. "Fairy tail doesn't know her."

Lucy considered one of the two new Silver key Spirits she had gotten on a mission with Cobra, two weeks ago. Cygnus, the swan and Pegasus, the winged horse.

Pegasus was an elegant snow white horse with wings, whose maximum flight speed was as fast as a shooting star. He could carry two people on his back, and could talk mentally to Lucy through physical contact. Pegasus could freeze anyone who lookedinto his eyes, for thirty seconds, and also had slight control over water.

Cygnus was a young girl with very pale blonde hair and even paler skin. She had feathers clipped to her hair, and she wore a white robe with white swan wings sprouting out of her back. She had striking blue eyes and the largest set of lungs in the world. She had the loudest voice compared to anyone Lucy knew. Cygnus's magic was charmspeak, and she could lull people into doing things through her voice. Though it didn't always work, it was powerful enough to distract a large group of people.

Lucy grinned and held out a silver key with a set of crisscrossed swan feathers as the bow. "Open, the gate of the Swan, Cygnus!" In a bright flash of gold light, the swan spirit appeared in a burst of feathers, which burst into gold glitter as they hit the ground.

Sure, Cygnus loved talking, but her spree only started when you asked her something. That was the mistake Lucy had made when she had first summoned the spirit for the first time, in front of all her guild mates.

"Hello, I'm Lucy."

"Lucy? Lucy Heartfillia?"

"Yeah."

"I've heard so much about you. I've always wanted to meet you."

"Thanks. Now, can we form a contact?"

A pause. A deep breath.

"Sure! Now, I'm sure you're going to ask me about my type of magic and when I'm free and stuff like that. I'm free on all days, and I use charmspeak magic, which allows me to control people through my voice. It's not always effective, but it works better when it's a simple command, like sit down, on a large group of people. It works even better if the order is something the person or the group of people wants to do, even if they are denying it. I'm not sure that makes sense, but you'll understand things as they go on-"

That was how their first meeting had gone, with Cygnus speaking for over two hours. How their conversation had gone from their contract to the different herb species, Lucy couldn't remember. Silence had engulfed the room only when Lucy had force closed her gate.

Later, Lucy had asked Crux about Cygnus, only to find out that to stop Cygnus from speaking, she had to say 'Stop!' with a magic enhanced voice. She didn't know how, but she was going to have to find out, sooner or later.

She was forced out of her thoughts when Cygnus smiled.

"Hello, princess" Cygnus said.

"Hi, Cygnus." Lucy replied. Remember, she told herself No questions. "I need you do something…"

Sting eyed the Archive user who stood opposite him, panting slightly. He had his Archive booted open, one eye on the 'screen' while the other was on Sting.

Sting grinned and was about to move again when a loud voice yelling his name caught his attention, as well as his opponent's, and the rest of Domus Flau.

"STING!"

He glanced towards the source of the sound, which was coming from the Grim Requiem guild stand. He hands instinctively went to his ears.

Cygnus stood on the balcony railing, her hands on her hips. She pointed a finger at Sting, before taking a deep breath. "Princess would like you to hurry up and end this fight, as everyone is suffering from the loud noise." She yelled. "And if you take any longer than one minute, she will…er…castrate you, regardless of guild numbers!"

Several snickers could be heard around the stadium, while shrieks of anger could be heard from the fan-girls.

Cygnus looked ready to yell again, but she suddenly looked over her shoulder and leaped back into the stands, before the hooded figure of Valkyrie appeared in her place. Though her face was not visible, Sting could easily imagine the glace she was giving him. He gulped and turned back to Hibiki, who still looked stunned by the sudden announcement.

Before he could even react, Sting knocked him out with a White Dragon's roar.
