Chapter THIRTY SEVEN
"That's why you screamed?" Sting asked, before he burst out laughing again. Rogue gave his friend a slap on the arm.
Lucy buried her face into her hands. Cobra let out a chuckle.
Even Midnight, who was sitting on the middle of the couch, looked amused. Darque had visited that morning and now she and Wendy were curled up on either side of him. Meredy sat on the other side of Wendy, her knees tucked underneath. She was drinking a cup of coffee.
Lucy look a deep breath and picked up her cup of coffee.
"You know, you're a cuddler." Jellal said.
Meredy, who had been listening to the whole thing quietly, spat out the drink, which sprayed right over the person sitting opposite her, Sting.
Lucy choked on hers and Jellal idly patted her back as she coughed.
"What-"
"You were hugging me so tightly that I could barely breathe." Jellal continued, before glancing at Lucy and grinning.
Cobra opened his mouth, but Lucy interrupted him.
"I don't want to hear it." Lucy said. "It's not my fault."
Jellal simply looked at her in amusement.
"It's not my fault." She declared. "It was you who sneaked into my bed."
Wendy, who had been quiet up to that point, seemed to feel sorry for Lucy, because she spoke up. "Jellal-san, why were you in Lucy-san's bed?"
Jellal stiffened as Cobra turned to him with a suggestive rise of his eyebrows.
Lucy sigh and glanced at the clock, before standing up. "Guys, go get ready." She ordered. "Everyone who's on the team should go get changed." She tuned to Meredy. "You can sit at our guild stand with Midnight and Wendy. We'll give you the guild stamp after the Grand Magic Games are over."
Meredy nodded. Sting stilled seemed to be shock that he was covered in coffee but before he could recover, Rogue dragged him away. The people on the team rushed to get changed, leaving Midnight, Wendy, Meredy and Darque in the main room.
"What do you think really happened?" Meredy exclaimed.
Darque leaned over Midnight. "Maybe Lucy invited him into her bed?" She asked.
Wendy shyly shook her head. "I don't think she did." Wendy said. "Maybe Jellal was feeling cold?"
Darque and Meredy glanced at her exasperation. "What are you talking about?! It's love!" Meredy declared. "They are so in love!"
Midnight seemed very uncomfortable with everrything as the three girls leaned over him and told each other their theories. Their ideas were becoming more and more absurd. At one point, Meredy suggested that Lucy and Jellal were actually long lost childhood friends. Midnight didn't even bther to correct her. Lucy had been some heiress and Jellal had been a slave at the tower of heaven.
Suddenly, Darque gasped dramatically. "We are forgetting about something important!"
Meredy and Wendy turned to look at her. "What?"
"What about Erza?" Darque asked.
Silence fell upon them.
"Erza-san probably liked Jellal-san." Wendy said.
Meredy stood up. "Well, I won't allow this." She declared. She held up her hand, and showed the others the pink circle that appeared when she was using Maguilty Sense. An evil smile appeared on Darque's face while Wendy laughed nervously. Midnight just watched on, feeling extremely sorry for Lucy and Jellal.
When the Grand Magic Games team appeared, changed and ready to go, Meredy, Darque and Wendy stopped talk. They turned simultaneously to look at the group, before erupting into giggles.
Lucy raised an eyebrow, but decided to ignore the weird action. Instead, she turned to Jellal. "Ready?"
Jellal nodded and held out his hand. Lucy took it and they both raised their hands. Meredy tried her best to muffle her giggles, muttering something about how 'Jellal was finally growing up.'
A black hole appeared in front of them. Wendy told Meredy about the Black hole magic, and that one of its spells included teleporting. Meredy seemed slightly disappointed that the hand-holding thing wasn't on pure choice. Darque floated up to Lucy and Jellal, her legs having transformed into mist. Wendy had already explained to Meredy about the mist transforming thing Darque could do.
Darque offered a two finger salute at Lucy and Jellal, then waved at Meredy and Wendy before turning into mist and returning to Lucy's key pouch.
"Lets go." Lucy said, and they stepped through.
Mato greeted the audience, introduced the guest to be Lahar, then proceeded to explain the second event.
"The second event is called 'Fashion Monster'." Sting gagged.
"In this event, the judges will give you an event, which you will have to dress up for. There is a main stage area with changing room for each participant. There will be monsters wandering around the area below the stage. Each monster will have a tag stuff to their back, which tells you what kind of clothing you can get by defeating it. The monsters wont attack you unless you attack it first. You will have twenty minutes to get the costume sorted. A clothing mannequin will be waiting for you, where you will have ten minutes to put the costume together."
"Once the time limit is over, the mannequins will appear on stage. So the votes aren't biased, no one will know which belongs to which competition. The judges will each give you a score out of ten."
"Once you defeat a monster, the costume will automatically be teleported to you changing room." Mato said, gesturing towards the changing rooms, each with a guild mark on the door. Fairy tail A and B had the letter stuck on next to the mark. "Now, please send down your contestants.
"Really? Fashion Monster?" Sting asked. (Glares at authors. We know. It's lame) "Can't they come up with something better?"
Lucy sighed. "I suggest Cobra goes." She raised her hands in an I-surrender sign when Cobra glared at her. "It's not like I want you to look weird!" She said. She shot the laughing Sting a glare. "It's just that you will be able to read the judges minds or something and get the costume together."
Jellal nodded. "Even if you can't, we'll put down out mind barriers and you can read off us." Sting stopped laughing and actually looked thoughtful.
"Won't that be cheating?" Wendy asked.
Lucy shrug. "There aren't any rules to mind reading, and it technically isn't outside interference, since Cobra can't not hear the voices." She said.
"But the judge is Lahar." Cobra complained.
"And he wont know which costume is yours." Lucy said. "It's not biased."
Cobra finally nodded in agreement.
"Sure." He growled. He whipped around and jumped over the balcony.
"From Fairy tail A, we have Gray Fullbuster!"
"From Fairy tail B, we have Juvia Lockser!"
"From Lamia Scale, we have Lyon Vastia!"
"From Grim Requiem, we have Cobra!"
"From Mermaid Heel, we have Arana Web!"
"From Saber tooth, we have Angel!"
"From Blue Pegasus, we have Eve Tearm
"From Quatro Cerberus, we have Nobarly!"
The contestants appeared on the stage, greeted by the cheering audience.
