Chapter FORTY SIX
Valkyrie watched the smoke slowly clear. She could clearly feel the drain on her magic.
The previous spell was probably one of the biggest she had ever casted. If Jura survived that, it was certainly her loss.
She stumbled slightly and raised her hand to her head. Maybe she had used up more than usual.
And when the fist, bare of any sort of magic, hit her stomach, she was flung backwards. She landed heavily on her back and heard another rough thud. A small smile graced her face as her body grew numb.
Her previous spell, which she had randomly named 'Roar of the Dark and Light Dragons', was made up of the four elements, light, shadow, wind and poison, as well as some of her black hole magic and the caster's emotional powers. The stronger her feelings, the stronger the spell. However, it could also be considered a double edged sword, as after casting the spell, her body was paralyzed and her senses became dull.
The stronger the spell, the longer the aftereffects.
Had she mentioned a double-edged sword?
Jura didn't seem to be able to wake up and though she was wide awake, she wouldn't be moving for a while as well. She could hear the roar of what she expected to the crowd. Then a voice spoke up and the crowd dimmed. Mato said something, but Lucy couldn't make out words.
From where she way lying she could see the score board. Though blurry, she could make out that the smudge beside her name looked the same as the one beside Jura.
How- Aa. Jura must have not been affected by her Black Holes. If so, she must have been too occupied with the other mages to notice.
She saw someone's feet as they landed in front of her and recognized them to be Reaper's. Gentle, warm arms slipped in underneath her and lifted her into the air.
Valkyrie instinctively cuddled closer to the warmth and let out a sigh. She could hear Reaper say something. He could deal with it, she decided, and closed her eyes.
The second part of the battle was announced very quickly.
Elfman Strauss VS Wacry
Arana Webb VS Eve Tearm
Chelia Blendy VS Midnight
Rustyrose VS Juvia Lockser
As expected by majority of the crowd, Elfman defeated Warcry pretty quickly.
The second battle started off with Eve trying to flirt with Arana, which she shot back to without missing a beat. Soon, the battle began, with Eve winning by a small margin.
Midnight got to his feet and jumped down.
"Don't loose!" Sting yelled. Midnight raised his hand to indicate that he had heard.
Suddenly, a thought hit Jellal. "Are spirits living things?" He asked. "I mean, will Midnight's reflect magic be able to block them?"
Wendy frowned. "Well, technically speaking, they are made of magic." She said.
Jellal nodded, and let the subject drop. This was getting too confusing.
Wendy stepped back, having just finished healing Lucy's wounds.
The Candidate was lying down on the benches, insisting through Darque and Jellal that she wanted to at least be aware of what was going on. Her head was resting on Sting's lap. The White Dragon Slayer was running his hand gently through her hair.
Meredy was sitting a row behind them, smiling.
They would make a cute couple if Meredy wasn't a Jelu shipper. Besides, everyone knew that though close, Sting and Lucy's relationship was purely platonic.
Chelia was talking about how she knew everything about Midnight's magic, as she had heard about it from Lyon and Sherry.
Midnight shrug. The moment the 'go' signal was given, Chelia jumped back a few feet but Midnight remained where he was.
"Sky God's Bellow!" The spiral of black wind came towards Midnight, who stared at it, until it was suddenly reflected.
Chelia's eyes widened and she jumped out of the way. "That's not fair! I can't eat my own wind!" She landed neatly on her feet.
Midnight eyed her with uninterested eyes and Chelia clenched her fist.
"Sky God's Boreas!" The attack was reflected just like the one before. The attack left a huge dent on the wall of the stadium.
"They told me that you can distort anything apart from the living, but I didn't think it was everything everything." She muttered. "Then I'll just have to go about this hand to hand!"
She flew at her opponent and raised her fist, enhancing her block with her magic.
Midnight formed a shield a few feet in front of him. Chelia's magic dispersed as the rest of her passed through. Her eyes widened as she realized her mistake.
Midnight's magic enhanced fist collided with her face, sending her flying. Chelia staggered to her feet and her wounds slowly began to heal.
Midnight shrug. His guild mates had told him about the girl and her self-healing magic.
"Dark Rondo!" Midnight raised his hand, gathering a swirl of black and eerie green darkness magic. He then fired it, concentrating it to one point with Reflector.
Chelia didn't even have time to scream and it engulfed her.
"Chelia!" Wendy cried out.
Jellal gently grasped her hand. "It's okay. I told Midnight not to take things too seriously. That was is nowhere as powerful as what he can usually do."
Cobra nodded. "If Midnight took things seriously, he can probably destroy the stadium." He smirked. "Besides, he knows that you two are friends. He adores you too much to hurt her too seriously."
Midnight was announced the winner. True to Cobra's words, Chelia was just knocked out and Wendy sighed in relief.
His and Chelia's battle was interesting, but it didn't prepare anyone for the next and final battle of the day.
Scream after scream echoed around the stadium. No one was cheering.
Fairy tail's angry growls and shouts were almost drowned out as pain itself reared its head to sing its piercing song.
Something splattered against the ground. Something that should have been water. Something that was blood.
The screech ripped from deep within the throat was cut off by a crazed laugh. A laugh that sent shivers down the spines of everyone present.
Even one of the blood thirstiest wore a pale shade of green over their face.
Laughter filled the stadium as Juvia fell from the grasp of Lite di Angelo.
Sorry for the late update, and even more sorrier if it was boring (Which we think it was).
The more interesting stuff will start soon, we think, so...yeah.
In case you don't know, we started a new story:
In the hands of Life and Death:
Lucy and Rogue have lived in Tenrou with Mavis and Zeref for as long as they can remember. When they reach twelve, Mavis sends them to Fairy tail, where they begin to explore the world that had been shut away from them, all this time.
