As Japanese, the new year is a very important time of the year. And therefore, we decided to update. Don't ask us how the two are related, cause we don't know?
Chapter FORTY NINE
Midnight casually walked around the corridor, only to come to a stop. Mira looked like she was in the middle of beating up Yuka from Lamia Scale in her Satan Soul form. Midnight waited until Yuka disappeared from sight, and then stepped out.
Midnight still had all ten lives. He had landed hits on the spheres of Beth form Mermaid Heel, Orga from Saber tooth and Warcry from Quarto Cerberus.
Mira turned around like she had known he was there from the beginning.
She probably did.
"You're Midnight, the guy from Oracion Seis, right?" Mira asked.
Midnight nodded. "And you are Mira Jane Strauss." He nodded to himself.
"I heard you gave our guild a lot of problems during the Nirvana, then the Infinity clock incident.
Midnight shrug. "I heard that you use Darkness magic." He said. "I was just curious."
Mira smiled, seeming to understand what he was saying. "You do as well, right?"
"Dark Rondo!" Midnight called, summoning his spell.
"Evil Explosion!" Mira said at the same time. Mira flew towards Midnight, who launched his attack at her. Mira brought her hand forward, blocking the attack with her own spell.
A curtain of dust rose into the air, momentarily rendering everyone's eyes useless.
Midnight looked as calm as ever, his hands tucked casually into the fur of his coat.
Mira looked uninjured as well. "I forgot Erza warned me about your reflector magic."
The two mages then moved to physical combat.
Well, Mira did.
Midnight stood where he was, watching the Fairy tail Mage approach.
"What is he doing?" Sting asked.
"When using Take Over magi, the user has magic laced all over them. Reflector will block any physical attack." Cobra informed them.
"It must be very useful." Meredy mused.
Cobra nodded. "It is."
They watched Mira try out a few more attacks before she seemed to give up on physical attacks.
The two mages exchanged a few more words before the two mages held up their hands again.
Midnight shrug, looking slightly amused. "Dark Capriccio!"
"Soul Extinction!" Mira launched her own darkness spell.
The two spells collided, one said to be capable of penetrating any defense, the other strong enough to knock Freed out of his Dark Écriture: Darkness and Dark Écriture: Wings.
The collision caused a huge explosion to erupt.
When the smoke cleared, it showed both mages standing where they had been before the attack, looking unharmed and not a bit fazed.
The maze walls around them had been reduced to rubble.
But before any of them could move again, the timer rang.
"Seriously?" Sting asked, eyes wide. "That has got to be the worst timing ever!"
Rogue nodded, agreeing with him.
Meredy shrug. "At least the paired battles are next."
Sting paused to ponder this thought.
The results for the previous even came out as follows.
1st-Fairy tail B
2nd-Grim Requiem
3rd-Fairy tail A
4th-Blue Pegasus
5th-Saber tooth
6th-Lamia Scale
7th-Mermaid Heel
8th-Quarto Cerberus
Sting pounced on midnight the moment he appeared back at their stands. "You did okay, I guess." He muttered. Still, he patted Midnight on the back and Midnight did the same.
"And now, the battle we have all been waiting for!" Meredy cheered.
"Now, we have the tag battles coming up! Can we have the following mages down in the arena?"
Jenny Realight and Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki VS Laxus Dreyar and Gajeel Redfox
Milliana and Kagura Mikazuchi VS Yukino Agirua and Angel
Jura Neekis and Toby Horhota VS Rocker and Jager
Requiem and Valkyrie di Daemon VS Natsu Dragneel and Erza Scarlet
Lucy and Jellal shared a high five.
To say the first battle was quick would be an understatement.
Some could say it was a outright lie.
Of course, Laxus and Gajeel just had to start with a classic Fairy tail argument. Jenny and Ichiya, despite their cocky words, didn't move to attack first, even if waiting for the first attack wouldn't change anything.
Soon, the two Fairy tail Mages got bored, and the Blue Pegasus mages were knocked out before they even knew it.
The second battle was much more exciting. A battle between four females, two of which were sisters.
Lucy, Midnight and Cobra shared a look when Angel pulled out a key.
"She must have gone back to using Celestial keys." Midnight said. Cobra nodded.
Yukino and Angel must have been training together. Their spirits were perfectly in sync.
However, they were quickly defeated by Kagura and Milliana's equally impressive teamwork.
Soon, Angel called Yukino to stand behind her before pulling out a key.
From there, the battle took a very bloody turn.
Kagura had managed to keep up with Lite for some time, which impressed Darque to no end. She didn't stop taking about it through their mental link. how she knew what was going on, Lucy didn't know. Angel and Yukino were announced the winners after Lite forcefully knocked out the Mermaid Heel mages.
The next battle wasn't as exciting. Of course, the results were what everyone had expected, with Jura and Yuka coming out victorious.
"You guys are up!" Meredy cheered, clapping both Lucy and Jellal on the back.
"Good luck." Rogue said.
"Yeah. You have to win!" Sting added.
Lector nodded and Fro smiled. "Fro thinks so too."
Cobra shot them a glare and Midnight shot them a rare smile.
Wendy shyly hugged Lucy, then Jellal. "Please do your best."
Lucy and Jellal smiled. "Of course." Lucy said. Jellal nodded. He held up his hand and Lucy gracefully took it. The two disappeared in a swirl of black, reappearing on the battle field, where Natsu and Erza were already waiting.
When we wrote this chapter, we kept arguing over if it was outright lie out rightout lie.
Then Raven's brother overheard us and told us to check online :P
