Author's notes: New section, where i will be answering your reviews! I also wanted to thank your continued support even after I had a long hiatus back during the summer, your support is endlessly appreciated and i cant thank you enough for your nice comments! I hope I will be able to read more of them!
Marouan Dahraoui: Thanks, I definitely will continue for now!
Guest: Huh, will have to check the Persona series out, I'm curious now! I was also thinking of mixing them up anyways, since 140 chapters for Tokyo Ghoul is long, so I'm trying to cut it down.
arga101: Yeah, there was a lot of things in there, i'll make sure to keep writing as well!
On to the story now, future plans will be listed in the note at the end of the chapter!
I do not own Code Geass or Tokyo ghoul, you know the drill by now!
Bold: Geass Command: "Lelouch Vi Britannia commands you!"
Italic: past Tokyo Ghoul Lelouch thoughts: 'I don't want to be forgotten"
Code Geass Lelouch thoughts: 'the laws of nature at work'
He felt comfy, that overwhelming urge to close his eyes again, however Lelouch got up from the couch he had been sleeping last things he remembered was allowing this world's past version of him to assist him protecting his new friends, and fighting Nishiki, the ghoul that had attempted to kill them, before Lelouch defeated him. After that, it was blank.
HE took into account his surroundings. The room was rather plain, a few couches, a TV and a table, the light from the window was lighting up the room brightly, it was a beautiful day outside.
'Where am I? this place is nothing like the apartment and has a more comfy vibe…there is no sent of pizza, just…coffee. The smell of delicious coffee,'
'Anteiku, it smells just like Anteiku, even whiteout the enhanced sense of smell of a ghoul I can tell, it always had that smell, nice, dark coffee.'
Lelouch looked at his reflection in the window with all the light. He looked human, but his memories of the day before would tell the contrary. A one eyed ghoul, he had been told, but he never looked himself in the mirror to confirm. He lit up his Geass, seeing it show up as usual, but he could not feel there was a way to intentionally activate this 'ghoul' eye. He then closed his eyes and looked away, still lost in thoughts.
'The coffee shop Toka works at? Does that mean the Manager and other employers are ghouls as well and is why they helped me? Or is just because stumbled upon a ghoul attack and asked her employers to help?'
'Knowing Toka, she would've left us for dead, she is a ghoul, and from our previous encounters with them, worst case she would've eaten Hide and Kaneki. best case scenario was she got up to safety, And if she did take us in, she would've have killed Kaneki for seeing us for who we are now…'
Then, an elderly man entered, the manager at Anteiku he remembered, he had seen him multiple times when his past self came here, he had that aura of confidence around him. However now…he smelled like a ghoul, an older scent with a side of coffee, but definitely ghoul scent.
'The manager, so all workers here are ghouls then?' His other self did not bother answering.
"Your awake." The elder man said, looking at Lelouch, a nice smile on his face, it seemed real, or a perfectly crafted mask, but he would rather go with the former idea.
"Your on the second floor of Anteiku, Toka brought you here". The manager continued.
"My friends, how are they?" Was the only thing on his mind right now.
"come with me…"Was all the old man said, leading Lelouch outside the room into a corridor, then opening a door further down the corridor.
There rested Hide, asleep in bed, Kaneki at his side, waiting for his best friend to wake up. He looked up when the manager entered and jumped to his feet when he saw his other friend.
"Lelouch!" Kaneki shouted in joy. He rushed to his purple eyed friend and hugged him. To Lelouch, the gesture was somewhat surprising, but he didn't oppose it, and he hugged back. The old man smiled at the scene, and retreated outside the room.
'Kaneki, its been so long…'
"how are you holding up? Hide is alright, isn't he?"
"Im fine! Hide is too apparently! But um…you need to help me, if it weren't for your green haired friend I would be dead right now…."
'C.C.? What is that witch doing now…'
"Where is she?" he asked, looking at Kaneki in the eye.
"Right here boy". Was the answer. Lelouch turned around, to find the witch in question staring right at him with a bored expression, her hand resting on the door frame. An awkward silent followed, no one wishing to speak, until Kaneki spoke up:
"L-Lelouch…your a ghoul…right?" He asked taller raven haired man simply looked at Kaneki and lightly smiled.
"I am, but don't worry, I wont eat you or Hide, you are my friends after all".
"But why?! Ghouls are creatures that eat humans! There would be no point in ghouls befriending humans!" The bookworm shouted, probably loud enough, for everyone in the building to hear it.
'Do I go with the lie? Place a mask on and act like I was a ghoul this whole time? Or do I tell him the truth? That a doctor implanted a ghoul's organs in me and turned me into this?
'trust Kaneki, he is my friend, and now by extension yours. Trust him.'
'But we can't involve him in this, he's a human! He will only get into trouble if he becomes a part of the ghoul world.'
'Then should he die? He would be killed by the ghouls if you cant convince them otherwise, or if you cant swear him to secrecy .Are you going to use your power to refrain them from stopping him? Your power before is worthless in this world. If you want to change this world, restart anew.'
'…I would like to keep my Geass a secret…Maybe we can reach a compromise with the ghouls to let Kaneki live, and somehow cooperate with them.'
'So, the truth then? That would solve the issue at hand.'
'I imagine you are correct…'
"…Kaneki…"Lelouch started, looking at his friend right into the eyes. "Yes?" He answered, looking curiously at his friend, a bit of fear in the back of eyes.
"Do you remember Rize?" He started, looking expectantly at him.
"Of course! She was my date after all! B-but what does that have to do with you being a ghoul…?"
"Kamishiro Rize, was a ghoul, th-" Lelouch was abruptly cut off by Kaneki, looking terrified."What?! No way, she was a ghoul?! She acted so human!…but maybe that's why she didn't eat much at lunch…" The shy boy looked down, his hair hiding his eyes. Most probably terrified of the prospect of having dated a ghoul.
"the day I offered to take her home for you, I was her prey. Luckily, she was killed by another ghoul before I was killed. The doctor, Mr Kano, transplanted her organs into mine, effectively turning me into…a ghoul". He gave Kaneki the short version of the story, there was much more to be told, but telling the truth was a novelty, after staying so long behind masks and lies.
"…y-you w-were turned into a g-ghoul?" The bookworm fearfully asked.
"Indeed. Before, I was human, just like you and Hide." The half ghoul answered, staring into his friend's eyes.
"…That is terrible…So now…you have to eat humans?" Kaneki asked, still not looking back.
"Yes…otherwise I die…I have already lost control once, I don't want it to happen again." They stayed silent after that, the bookworm still looking down, while the half ghoul still analysing any of Kaneki's movements.
"Lelouch, why didn't you inform me of your predicament? We still are partners, right?" That chilling feeling. That was C.C. menacing aura. He'd have to find a good excuse for that.
"I didn't want to put you into danger, besides you knew of it already even if I never told you directly." The questioned man answered, not daring to turn around to look at the witch.
The silence continued after that. Lelouch could feel C.C. stare burning into his back, his own directed at Kaneki and the latter's gaze was still on the ground. Even the unconscious Hide shuffled in his sleep. Then, the manager came back with a tray and on it, multiple cups of coffee.
"Would any of you care for a cup of coffee? I have your usuals prepared from when you used to came over as a group. Even for your unconscious friend." The old man spoke with measured, calming words.
At those words, Kaneki lit up. He looked at the manager thankfully and walked towards him. As soon as Lelouch felt that his partner's gaze found something else to look at, he turned around as well and smiled, graciously accepting his cup of coffee.
"Why don't we sit down and talk this over our drink? Im sure we can find an agreement to your circumstances." The manager spoke again. They all complied, even C.C. They followed the manager down the corridor, leaving Hide, to the room Lelouch had awoken in. They all sat around the center table, Kaneki and the manager on their own couches, C.C. and the half ghoul together on one. No one spoke until the manager broke the silence.
"Mr Lamperouge, you were a customer that can over many times before, until you suddenly stopped for multiple weeks. Can you please explain to me what happened? Don't worry if you don't want to say everything, I understand you have some things to keep only to yourself."
Lelouch took a deep breath and recounted his story, avoiding the details of using his Geass and forcing Rize to kill herself, replacing them with the ghoul story. He recounted his suspicions of his doctor and his inability to eat human food and how he discovered he was a ghoul.
"Hmm…so you turned into a half ghoul due to an organ transplant." The manager stated, to which Lelouch nodded. It was the end result after all.
"And who is the young woman next to you? Toka had mentioned a green haired woman that had annoyed her. Is that you?" The manager asked C.C. and before she could answer, Lelouch did for her.
"She's a friend, she's not a ghoul though, she's a human." After that, Yoshimura was thinking, and everyone enjoyed their coffee, well except the witch, she didn't ask for any.
"Hmmm…We still have a problem…" Everyone looked at the old man, which had dropped out of his thinking phase. "Your friend…Kaneki i believe, now knows of Anteiku as a ghoul home". He turned to the aforementioned boy: "I believe though that you will keep our secret, after all, your friend is one now whether he likes it or not."
"I-I will sir, i wouldn't want my f-friend to die!" Kaneki was nervous, but he seemed to be able to keep everything, he's probably scared of being next to a ghoul.
"hmmm…you seem to be afraid of us…I guess it is normal for you to be scared of us, we eat your kind. But I find myself to appreciate humans for what they are, and not as food." The manager got up, and was now looking out the window, the city outside was calm and peaceful.
Kaneki looked surprised at that last comment, even Lelouch's curiosity lit up.
"How about you work here at Anteiku? We can show you how ghouls live…We would like for you, a human, to learn more about us." The old ghoul turned to Kaneki, his nice smile still on his face, a genuine emotion that had Kaneki stuck there. "See for yourself if we are the monsters the world makes us to be."
Kaneki seemed to be full of thoughts, he had just been proposed a job, amongst ghouls no less.
"The same goes to you Mr Lamperouge, if you want to, we can also supply you with food in return."The manager turned to the half ghoul, who simply nodded.
"I-I would like that sir! If my friend is a ghoul, then you cant all be as bad as people say right?" The bookworm had something in his eyes akin to hope. For what though, Lelouch couldn't tell.
C.C. glanced to the side, looking seemingly uninterested.
"I'll join as well, mr Yoshimura." The forgotten prince said, rising from the couch as well.
"Ah, call me manager. Now for both of you, how about I first teach you how to brew a proper cup of coffee…" The manager continued, as they all left the room, except the witch, she stayed immobile before rising and looking at the unfinished cups of coffee.
"Im going to be stuck tasting coffee for a while now aren't I…" C.C. raised one of the cups and had a taste before placing it back down.
"Its bitter…it needs pizza flavouring." Was what she decided.
On this day, a Demon learnt to trust.
There we go! Its a short chapter, but after the previous one, I think a shorter chapter is required! The next chapter will be longer though, I promise that. I'll speed things up a little as well, cant get stuck forever in the beginning chapters after all
For this story, I was thinking of reaching the end of season 1/chapter 66 before taking a break from the story. Im sure I will continue it but until then thats my goal. Ill work on smaller stories, one shots and short things like that, and when i fresh again I will go back onto the story! Nice plan I believe.
I was taking down a few notes on the characters, and I found a resemblance between Lelouch and Eto. Both have been abandoned by their parents and have a 'ends justify the means mentality' and are both kinda crazy. Is it just me or someone else sees the connection as well? I'll see what i make of it when the time comes.
But until then
Have fun!
