Bold: Geass Command: "Lelouch Vi Britannia commands you!"
Italic: past Tokyo Ghoul Lelouch thoughts: 'I don't want to be forgotten"
Code Geass Lelouch thoughts: 'the laws of nature at work'
They had been working at Anteiku for a day now. By working, it was the Manager teaching Kaneki how to brew coffee for the better part of the day. It was an average cup but nothing compared to the elder employees of the coffee shop.
Lelouch on the other hand, had a talent for cooking and his coffee was somewhat acceptable, but, just like Kaneki, not the best. They had been sent by the owner of the shop to assist Toka with managing the cafe. They had been warned of suitcase carrying men, if his studies were correct, then those were the Commission of Counter Ghoul's investigators, or CCG for short. They were created with the purpose of investigating and exterminating ghouls. And so, he had an eye open just in case one walked in.
Kaneki was currently washing the dishes, taking care to not break anything, he would probably panic and get yelled at by his female colleague, which was taking an order, while The amethyst eyed man was cleaning tables and taking orders as well. Toka had been stuck with a customer for almost a minute, and other customers had to be satisfied, so Lelouch had volunteered, despite knowing that it was possible that the girls would try to flirt with the new waiter.
'If there is something we can both agree on, it has to be the annoyance of fangirls.' His other self said.
'yes, that we can'
The tall raven haired man had finished taking orders from a group of high school students that had stopped by before heading for the arcade, leading normal lives, currently oblivious to the ghoul right next to them.
He had realised on his way back to the counter, Kaneki was no longer at his spot, washing the dishes. Instead he was with Toka talking to some spiky haired blond boy. Wait, thats Hide.
placing down his notepad and pen on the counter, the orders could wait a minute, he walked towards his two friends.
as soon as the purple eyed man arrived in Hide's line of sight, the blond waved his hand towards his friend and called him over. "Yo Lelouch! I heard you also got hired here! The outfit looks nice on you, just like Kaneki!"
"Hello Hide, what are you doing here? You are gathering quite the crowd around you." The waiter asked, a small smile appearing on his face.
"I came here to check up on you and Kaneki! I heard you both started working here! Id understand Kaneki since he's kinda low on funds, but you Lelouch, thats a shocker!" Hide answer, bright grin spread on his face.
"Good job!" He continued, giving them a thumbs up.
"Th-thanks, but maybe you should order something? Your troubling Toka…" Kaneki said. This seemed to do nothing to get Hide out of happy state, as he just yelled out "A cappucino!" and bookworm took the order.
Lelouch just watched as Toka tried to get away but Hide kept finding ways to stop her, until she finally snatched the notepad from Kaneki's hands to prepare Hide's coffee.
"Oh by the way Toka, I came here to thank you!" The blond shouted across the coffee shop, most probably annoying some of the customers.
"h-huh, thank her? For what?" The innocent boy asked, looking at both Toka and Hide for some answer. The woman looking irritated by the constant attention their friend seemed to be giving her.
"I think Hide may be referencing the fact that she helped us out of that car accident the other day." Lelouch stepped in to answer his friend's questions.
"o-oh" Kaneki still seemed just as confused, maybe even more than before he asked the question.
"Mr Nishio still has many injuries and still is in hospital, its thanks to her that were still alive!" Hide seemed ignorant of his friend's confusion as he kept talking.
'Ah yes, the ghoul, Im surprised he still lived after that, makes me wonder if he's a strong ghoul or a weak one, I hope its the former.'
'I imagine you are not pleased with this development.'
'Indeed, but as long as he does not hurt my friends, he wont have to fear anything from us.'
'You do know I consider them as friends now, your not the only one not pleased by this development, I just hope that he wont try to attack us after his defeat.'
If his past self was corporeal right now, Lelouch was sure he could see eyes filled with hate and anger, but didn't entertain that train of thought for much longer.
During his inner conversation, Toka had left, probably to prepare his friend's coffee, while the latter and Kaneki were talking off trivial things. Leaving his friends to finish cleaning the cutlery and plates Kaneki had left behind.
For a few minutes, nothing happened. Hide got his coffee delivered to him, Toka was looking at Kaneki and Lelouch, helping each other out with washing coffee cups.
"Lelouch, could we talk in private for a minute?" Toka asked the aforementioned man, who responded with a kind smile and a nod.
"Kaneki, I trust you to finish cleaning and drying this up, I wont be long"
"h-huh? O-oh ok" was his simple reply.
Toka dragged Lelouch to the kitchen, away from all ears and eyes, and turned to him.
"Your spiky haired friend there, you better hope he doesn't find out…" She started, looking at the one eyed ghoul, her look at him starting to darken.
"Kaneki already knows, so why do you not you kill him?" He answered, looking back at Toka with a raised eyebrow.
"If it was up to me he'd already be dead, but if the other one finds out…" Her darkened look turned to something more sinister and threatening, that could easily terrify the fainthearted, even for Lelouch, it told her that this woman was dangerous.
"I will kill them both" She finished, her words devoid of any emotion, as if she had done this before. judging Lelouch for a reaction to her words, but the young man looked at her with no emotion just like her, his face betrayed no emotion. A perfect poker face.
'I do not like her, despite the friendly attitude she portrayed when I used to come here, she speaks of murder far too easily for my comfort…'
The one eyed ghoul though finally allowed some emotion on his face, a glare that could rival her own, one that in his world had terrified billions during his reign, eyes filled with a look that promised pain and fear to all those unfortunate enough to be subject to it. He was glad to see Toka invisibly flinch, her eyes had widened just a fraction, not enough for anyone else but the most observant to notice it.
"Then you will pay a heavy price if you do" Was his answer, a threat to her, even though he knew that at this time he was probably unable to follow up physically, a quick Geass could make even the most powerful bend his knees to him. This world's Lelouch had told him his old powers here was worthless, but the Geass of Absolute Obedience was a weapon far more powerful than any kagune if used at its best. However, she relaxed when she remembered of his physical capacities.
"You seriously think you could follow up on that one?" She asked questioningly, a look of amusement in her eyes.
"He, maybe not, but I can" an unknown voice joined in. Both turned to look at the newcomer. Her amber eyes and lime coloured hair gave her immediately away. Toka flinched slightly when she realised who it was that had interrupted in their conversation.
"You…"She started, looking at the witch with anger and maybe an underlying amount of fear, but too proud to show it.
"C.C." Lelouch greeted, glad that she had shown up now, he also wanted to ask questions to the witch after this conversation was over.
"hmph! I will leave you both now and help out your friend." Toka left, head high, too proud to admit defeat. just as C.C. entered. the two woman were cold to each other.
They were left alone when the male in the room decided to ask some questions of his own; "What did you do to her to elicit such a reaction?"
"I dug up some of her worse memories, just as I did to Suzaku at Narita." She casually answered, as if it was no problem to reveal the power of Geass.
"You fool! What if she tries to figure out what allowed you to do that? Im sure Clovis and Bartley weren't the only people thinking that they could harness your power! If a powerful and hidden organization figures that out you are powerless!"
"Do not speak to me in that tone boy. I know what I am doing." She responded to his burst of rage, calmly, almost with a threat laced to her words, rendering him speechless.
'She never answered back to me like that…Not that we spoke much after Schneizel's defeat…'
'Perhaps you did something to anger her before you died? Something that saddened her? there are many reasons why she could have answered so aggressively.'
It stayed silent after their brief exchange, both in Lelouch's mind and in his surroundings. However, he rose his voice once again.
"Why would you defend them? You don't have any connection to them. So why would you get out of your way to help me protect them?"
"If they were killed, you would rush into danger recklessly, for your pride demands to never break a promise to your friends. Am i wrong?"
"right I see, excuse me, that question was foolish I should have known the answer based on previous situations similar to this one."
"Is that all you wanted to say Lelouch?" She asked, already heading back towards the door to leave.
"Yes, that was all." At those words, she left whiteout looking back at him, leaving her partner to his thoughts.
'C.C. would have normally teased me after my answer, but she seemed not willing to care about anything I said. Whats going on here?'
'You should not worry to much about it. We will figure whats going on in her head eventually, despite your memories saying thats the most difficult thing about her.'
'We shall have to go by that course of action it seems…'
Having collected his thoughts, the raven haired boy left the kitchen, heading back towards the front of the cafe.
However, in another part of tokyo, a ghoul was preparing to leap upon what seemed to be an old man. However, when he did, he was sliced in half.
"W-what? No thats impossible! There is no way you can be a dove!" The ghoul screamed in horror and disbelief, unable to believe what just happened.
The Ghoul Investigator though just smiled crazily as he looked down upon his prey.
Even when Ghouls are at the top of the food chain, the prey will find ways to fight back.
