House of Oda
There was nothing like a calm afternoon stroll through the open hallways of the Western Fortress. Kagome hummed quietly to herself as she passed several servants, all who now bowed, rather than stare at her oddly. She was still not accustomed to her new position. A group of female youkai had approached her earlier, offering to help her prepare for the 'wedding' day. Although wedding wasn't really the correct term. The oldest amongst them, an elderly dragon youkai, had also offered to teach Kagome of youkai customs.
Overall, Kagome felt very welcome in her new home. But Nohime's presence still bothered her. In fact, she was cautious enough to stop humming as she passed Nohime's quarters, in hopes that she might hear something; anything, that could assist in getting rid of the hanyou. She'd done this several times with no luck, but this time it seemed to be different.
"You do not understand!" Nohime's voice echoed angrily from the bedroom. "The minute he marked her, I lost all rights to the pups!"
Kagome quickly slid against the wall and supressed her spiritual energy, in hopes she would not be noticed. Perhaps, this time, she'll finally get something!
A male voice, Nohime's servant, responded from the room. "I don't care about the silly little beasts. I just want Sesshomaru's head. Do not let your greed make you forget why we came here, Kichou."
Kichou? Kagome frowned while she tried to remember where she had heard that name before.
"Those 'silly little beasts' were going to be our bait!" Nohime shrieked. "Do not insult me, Nobunaga."
Kagome gasped. She remembered! Kichou was Nohime's real name, but rarely used. But that was the least of Kagome's problems. Nohime had called her servant Nobunaga! Oda Nobunaga was posing as his wife's servant...and he wanted Sesshomaru dead!
"We can still grab the children," Nobunaga suggested. "There's nothing stopping you from kidnapping them for bait to lure their father out."
"There is!" Nohime retorted. "They are under Kagome's protection now. If I harm them in any way, she has the right to challenge me...and end me."
"Ah," Nobunaga hummed. "So this is all self-preservation, is it? I should have known you'd be this useless. You bring shame to the House of Oda. You refuse to lie with me and you are unable to give me an heir. And now you can't deliver on what you promised. You are wothless next to Kitsuno."
"I will bring you his head," Nohime whispered after several seconds of silence. "I promise it."
Kagome took this as her cue to leave. She had to warn Sesshomaru!
