A little note: As seen on Dokuga. Originally this was a interconnected drabble collection created with the prompts from dokuga_contest. However, since dokuga_contest is no longer running, I'll update as I see fit with prompts I select myself.

Interruptions
Kagome did not linger any longer. So just as Nohime's bedroom door slid open, she knew she had to leave. Now.
Around every corner, there seemed to be a distraction. Kagome had immediately fled from Nohime's room, fully intending to alert Sesshomaru of Oda Nobunaga's plan, and how Nohime was clearly being manipulated by him, at least to some degree. But it seemed like the fates were working against her.
"Princess!" Tama, the elderly dragon demoness greeted when Kagome nearly smacked into her. "Why in such a hurry?"
Kagome liked Tama. She was a stout little woman, with vermillion eyes and golden hair that was fading into a light grey. She was finely dressed, and had been one of the few youkai that did not openly stare before Kagome became Sesshomaru's betrothed. She was also incredibly wise. But, as much as she would like to sit and chat about youkai customs over tea, she really needed to see Sesshomaru.
"I must report something to Sesshomaru," Kagome responded quickly.
Tama tilted her head to the side. "What could be so pressing that you must run through the halls?"
"No time!" Kagome exclaimed as she pushed past the demoness. "I'm sorry, Tama! We can sit and chat later!"
Seconds after Kagome disappeared, Nohime appeared where the human previously stood. Tama, never to betray her emotions, simply stared at the hanyou blankly.
"Did you see the human just now?" Nohime asked.
"I did not, Nohime. Why do you seek the Princess?" Tama replied.
"That is none of your concern, lizard," Nohime snapped. The hanyou pushed past and stomped down the hall.
Kagome turned another corner, and this time nearly collided with Mamoru. The little boy looked up alarmed, but he quickly smiled when he saw who it was.
"Mama!" he exclaimed and threw himself in her arms. Kagome stood dumbfounded. Did he just...? His sister barked and jumped onto her brother's shoulder to also join in the embrace. Kagome quickly gathered her wit and wrapped her arms around them. She had never been called 'mama' before, not even by Shippo. It warmed her heart greatly and she had to swallow any tears that threatened to fall.
"There you are!" Ryoko, the pups' caretaker exclaimed with relief as she walked in on the scene. Her eyes widened when she saw Kagome. "Princess!" The youkai servant bowed.
Kagome just smiled weakly. "Did they run off on you?"
Ryoko nodded, a blush on her cheeks. "I'm sorry. I'm a terrible caretaker."
"No need to apologise, you did nothing wrong."
Ryoko smiled weakly. "Thank you, my lady."
Kagome returned the smile, but the smile quickly faded when she remembered that she had no time to be dallying around. She placed one hand on Mamoru's free shoulder, and the other on his sister's head to gain their attention. Two pairs of golden eyes stared up at her lovingly.
"Go with Ryoko, okay? I need to go talk to your father," she said. She turned to Ryoko. "Take them to the garden. The sun will do them good."
Ryoko nodded. Mamoru and his sister have Kagome one more hug before allowing their caretaker to lead them away.
Finally Kagome was able to make it to Sesshomaru's office without any interruptions. She could sense him inside, so she did not even bother to knock and simply slid the door open.
She froze when she realised he was not alone. Nohime was seated before his desk, a smirk on her face. Sesshomaru appeared irritated, but the frown on his face softened when he saw her. Kagome blushed.
"Um, sorry, am I interrupting?" she asked.
"Not at all," Nohime hummed, her tone sarcastic. "I was simply discussing some terms with Lord Sesshomaru until you barged in."
"Terms for what?" Kagome retorted. "His life?"
Sesshomaru quirked an eyebrow at this, his gaze now flickering between the two women. But before he could ask, the fortress' messenger appeared.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, Lord Sesshomaru," the youkai apologised. He bowed, not just to the Lord, but also to Kagome. She acknowledged him with a smile. He smiled in return and faced Nohime. "There is a man asking for Nohime. He says it is urgent."
Nohime clicked her tongue, but stood and stomped out of the room. The messenger followed, leaving Sesshomaru and Kagome alone.
"May I inquire what is going on?" Sesshomaru asked. "What did you mean by discussing terms for my life?"
Kagome pursed her lips, then sat down before him. "Oda Nobunaga wants you dead. I have no idea why."
