A little note: As seen on Dokuga. Originally this was an interconnected drabble collection created with the prompts from dokuga_contest. However, since dokuga_contest is no longer running, I'll update as I see fit with prompts I select myself.

Revenge

Sesshomaru thrived on his ability to remain calm and collected, even in the most dire of situations. But, it would seem, that if any harm came to his pups or Kagome, any control was thrown out of the window. The anger was boiling dangerously in his veins, and while he wasn't spitting fire or breaking things, his face was not devoid of emotion, and he was certain the stomping was alerting the entire fortress that he wasn't happy.

Not at all.

He passed his mother on the way to the stairs that lead to the dungeon. Nohime and Nobunaga had attempted to escape after the commotion in the dining hall, but Tsukiko had very quickly stepped before them, her arms crossed and her expression murderous. Sesshomaru had never been so grateful for her presence.

"Sesshomaru," Tsukiko called out to her son when he stomped past her. He stopped, his body rigid. He clearly did not want to be interrupted. Tsukiko could care less, she needed to speak with him. "What are you planning to do with them?"

"Kill them," was the curt reply.

Tsukiko sighed. "I do not think that is wise."

Sesshomaru turned and glared at his mother. "I've been lenient enough."

"I know," Tsukiko hummed. "But Kagome has told me of Nohime and Nobunaga. They are important figures in history and they are not meant to die here."

"I could care less about history," Sesshomaru snorted.

"And what if their premature demise means that the Tokugawa shogunate fails to prosper? And in turn, this so-called 'Meiji Restoration' never happens?" Tsukiko continued.

"None of my concern," Sesshomaru stated. Having heard enough, he turned to continue to the dungeons. His mother's next words, however, made his blood run cold.

"What if their deaths means Kagome is never born?"

He knew she had a point. Taking such a risk would be unwise on his part, but over the months that Kagome had traveled with him, and the past few days after he had marked her, he had realised that he liked having her beside him. He had known for awhile that she would be a good mother to his pups, and therefore he chose to pursue her, but it wasn't just about the pups anymore. He wanted her for himself too. He would even go as far as admit that he loved her. Although he wouldn't admit that out loud. And so, any wrong towards her, was a personal insult to him. And he would avenge her!

"Sesshomaru," Tsukiko's voice regained his attention. "I implore you to rethink this. I understand, you want to avenge your future mate, but do not act rashly, or you may lose her. Things will be different now; you are to be mated with a human, which means you will be expected to show humans the same mercy you would show one of your own kind."

"Then what do you suggest I do, mother?" Sesshomaru asked, his brows furrowed in annoyance.

"Well," Tsukiko smirked. "I did say not to kill them. I never said anything about a little...discipline. I'll go have tea with my future daughter-in-law while you have your fun."

With that, the demoness skipped away, leaving her son behind, flabbergasted.
