A little note: As seen on this was an interconnected drabble collection created with the prompts from dokuga_contest. However, since dokuga_contest is no longer running, I'll update as I see fit with prompts I select myself.

The Summoning

So Kagome liked to think that she was used to the unusual. After all, she did fall down a well, end up 500 years in the past, had a magical jewel ripped from her flesh and fought demons for a living. She also enjoyed the company of dogs, foxes, demonic cats, a lecherous monk and a demon slayer. Needless to say, her life was anything but normal.

But women in mirrors? That was a whole new ballpark.

It had been just a normal morning. She woke up in her quarters, managed to wash up despite her injured arm, and proceeded to brush her hair. You know, like a normal girl her age. But just as she looked up into the mirror, she screamed. For there stood a pale woman, completely encased in blue light. Kagome spun around to check behind her, but there was nobody there. Heart hammering in her chest, she turned around again, hoping it had been a trick of the light.

Nope. Creepy woman was still there.

"Did I hit my head?" Kagome asked herself. "Last time I checked, the legend of the girl stuck in the mirror was just that...a legend."

"No, child, I'm afraid I am very real," the woman in the mirror said.

Kagome narrowed her eyes. "Who are you?"

The woman smiled, but did not answer. Kagome took the opportunity to study the apparition. She was a youkai, that much was obvious. She had the same hair and eyes as Sesshomaru and Tsukiko. And the same dangerous look.

"Answer my question," Kagome repeated.

The woman sighed. "You are the Princess of the West, are you not?"

"Yes," was Kagome's curt reply.

"I have a favour to ask of you," the woman continued.

Kagome frowned and stepped back. Crossing her arms, she remained silent to urge the woman to continue.

"Your future mate has Kicho in his custody," the woman explained. "I want her brought to me."

Kagome blinked. "Kicho? You mean Nohime?"

The woman's face contorted angrily, but the anger quickly faded and was replaced by a very obvious fake smile. "Yes, Nohime. I want her brought to me. Alive."

"Why?" Kagome demanded.

"That is not really your concern, dear one."

"She nearly killed Sesshomaru," Kagome hissed. "I have lost my arm trying to prevent her from succeeding! What makes you think I'll just let her go?"

The woman sighed. "Then bring her here yourself."

Kagome blinked. "Where is 'here'?"

"To the East - in the Fortress of Crystals. I am afraid I cannot leave the place, so you will have to journey alone."

Kagome debated her options. On the one hand, this could be a way to rid of Nohime for good, or at least for a period of time. On the other hand, Kagome did not trust this woman, and had no idea what the woman had planned once Nohime was in her custody. Just what was she supposed to do?

"How do I know you won't set her free, or side with her?"

The anger flashed across the woman's face again, and just like the previous time, faded quickly. "Kicho is of my dominion. But that does not mean I approve of her actions towards the Lord. So rest assured, she will be punished for her crimes. However, I ask that I be the one to judge her."

Kagome bit her lip. "And what do I tell Sesshomaru?"

"Tell him The Mirror is cashing in her favour."
