"Mmn….mmph….what's so heavy?," Rex was starting to awaken as he felt a pressure on him.
'WAIT...there is two options that could've happened. 1. This could be Gramps or 2. Mythra sleep walked in here. I need to be careful with what I do just in case!' Rex thought to himself as he remembered what happened last time. Part of his mind drifted off to imagining Pyra sleeping by his side and remembered calling her heavy when they were going to rescue Nia from the jail. He shook of the idea fast as he told himself and although they kissed, it was impossible in his mind. Slowly Rex opened one of his eyes. He didn't see anything. He looked to his left and saw nothing. Then he looked to his right and saw nothing. He let out a breath of relief, but was quickly startled when he saw something under his blanket move. 'Oh Architect, you have got to be kidding me! What is with me and having bad luck when I wake up?!' Rex thought exasperated from these predicaments. Rex flung the covers off of him and immediately his face flushed with red. His mouth dropped and his eyes went wide. Laying on top of him was the white haired girl, but this time she was not clothed. Rex almost yelled, but caught himself as he guessed yelling in this situation would cause more harm to him than good. What was he supposed to do? What could he do? He thought back to before he fell asleep. He thought he had seen something, but chalked it up to his imagination. He had been wrong. He internally screamed at himself. For the first time in a while he felt like he was back at 100%, no 110%, and look where he was now.
*knock knock knock*
"AH, uh I mean, w-what is it?" Rex said with a quivering voice. Hopefully it was just Corinne telling him to get up. There's no way the girls would be up this early.
"Rex, listen I know it might have seemed rude of me last night, but we need to talk now...it's about Nia." A voice called out.
'IT'S PYRA!' Rex yelled in his mind as he bit his lip to stop from accidentally yelling it out loud.
"Uh umm uh, listen, I'll, uh, be out in a few?" Rex tried to reply.
"Rex are you okay in there? You're not sick are you? I'm coming in now!"
"NO" Rex yelled out, "I mean uh im d-doing, stuff?"
"What kind of stuff?" Pyra asked genuinely curious.
'Think Rex think!'
"Uh, boy...stuff?" Rex said with a very depressed and embarrassed voice. He had been defeated. All because of this girl. Now he was in for it. His life was over.
'She's gonna think I'm weird now!' Rex imagined her talking to his friends all making fun of them.
"Oh...OH... I'm, uh sorry, do you need h-h-h-hel-p?" Pyra's voice was even more embarrassed than Rex's and her face was even brighter, though Rex couldn't see.
'WHAT THE HELL?! CLAUS IF THIS IS SOME TRICK!'
Rex was freaking out now. He didn't expect that. Did she expect that? How? Why? When? Rex's brain went into overdrive as his face went completely red and his mind went blank.
"Master…" The white haired girl yawned. "Something just hit m-" Rex threw a pillow at the girl on top of him. He was even more nervous now that he remembered she was there.
"Uh, Pyra I'm actually done right now, so I'll be out in just a second!" Rex yelled back.
"O-oh okay Rex, hurry up it's important!" Pyra said as her voice trailed off.
It was quite obvious that someone gave her that advice. As to who it was, it had to have been Nia. Mythra didn't know what a one-eyed monster was and Pyra was horrible at anything involving her and Rex as was he. He sighed and looked over at the girl.
"Listen, I don't know who you are or why you keep calling me master, but I need you to stay here until I get back, alright?" Rex said handing the girl one of his shirts to wear. "Wear this for now and wait in this room until I'm back and don't leave no matter what." Rex commanded.
"Yes, Master!" The white haired girl stood at attention with a salute yet was still nude. Rex blushed and looked away as he walked out of the room.
He met Pyra downstairs who was blushing, while Mythra was standing in front of her looking worried and tired.
"Rex...Nia is going to leave today! You have to convince her to stay," She pleaded.
"Wha...Nia is leaving? Why?!" Rex couldn't believe it. The girl he had known forever was leaving now. He had known her the longest, even before Pyra. He couldn't believe it. No way was she leaving. He was determined now. The look in his eyes was fierce now. He looked back at Pyra and even she looked somewhat discouraged.
"Alright, I'll bring her back! Where is she going?!" Rex asked Mythra as they filled him in on everything she told the pair.
XXXXXXXXXXX
Nia had been thinking this whole time. How could she not be thinking? She was leaving her best friends, mentors, and even the guy she loved and her driver nonetheless! It hurt, but she did what she knew best. To push others away and go on her own. She only needed herself and Dromarch. She was a burden to everyone. She thought there was no place for her by Rex's side. She was walking out of Fonsett after saying goodbye to the people who had taken care of her. She wiped the tears from her eyes and continued out the gate. She had said goodbye to her life with Rex and the others.
"It's time to move on, eh Dromarch?" Nia said as she sighed walking out the gate.
Dromarch grunted in response and nodded his head. He hated to see his driver in pain. He was also pained to leave as he had found a great friend in Azurda and the others. He felt like he could help others all while giving his driver happiness. However, his loyalty was with her and not his own feelings.
"Well, could've at least told yer longest friend, eh Nia?" A voice called out from behind a tree.
She knew that voice. How could she not know that voice. It was the most annoying yet soothing voice she had ever heard. It was the voice of the man she loved. Rex walked out from the tree.
Nia burst out laughing, "Ahaha, why are you trying to act cool Rex?"
"Wha?! Hey, come on! Was it that obvious?" Rex said as he blushed, but ultimately started to laugh with the girl.
Nia wiped the tears away as she finished laughing. She'd miss this. Rex doing something stupid and then laughing about it with him. However, she decided she had to give that up, for him and for his blades. The pair sat down next to some trees because Rex wanted to talk to her.
"Man, it's been a while eh?" Rex asked feeling nostalgic. Nia nodded her head not knowing where this was going. Rex continued. "Ever since the day we met it's been one hell of a ride! Although none of this would've happened if it weren't for you, Nia. Without you I'd definitely be dead and me and Tora might be on our own!" Rex laughed at the thought of the two best friends trying to fight alone.
"Where is this going pipsqueak?" Nia said as she laughed with Rex, but said to hide her true emotions as to how sad she was.
"What I'm trying to say is...Pyra, Mythra, Gramps, Tora, the blades, and everyone needs you. We've been through a lot, but that's what made us a family and all closer right? I mean, at one point I think Morag would've grilled me if she had the choice!" Rex chuckled.
"Rex, I appreciate the sentiment, but here with everyone...with you…" Nia began to tear up. "There's no place here for me. I'd just be in the way yeah? So just plan on meeting up again sometime in the future?" She got up and began to leave.
"Nia come on!" Rex grabbed her hand.
"Rex please! You know how I feel and yet you do this! Saving the world is over and you're not the hero anymore. We finished what we set out to do and now there's nothing left to hold us together! So, just let me-"
"You're wrong! We went on this adventure for Pyra and Mythra, but we came out of it as a family. You guys are the people I'd trust my life with no matter what! I know how you feel, but I don't know what I feel truly. I love all three of you! I know that seems selfish, but right now that's the best I have. I need you, Nia. This isn't about anyone else telling me to stop you. This is for me! What do you want me to do!? Just let someone I love walk away from me forever?!" Rex interjected.
"Do you think I want to leave?! This is for the best! I'm just a burden on all of you!" Nia screamed back.
"If you don't want to leave then why are we having this argument!?" Rex yelled.
"I don't know!" Nia retorted.
Both blade and driver were huffing now. They had yelled to their heart's content at each other. Rex stood up beginning to say something again, but was cut off.
"Mmph!?" Rex managed to make out before he felt his shirt being grabbed. Nia was forceful, yet romantic at the same time. Nia kissed Rex as to his surprise. This kiss lasted longer than Pyra's or Mythra. The passion shared between the two showed Nia Rex's true feelings. He couldn't decide and to make him, at least for now, would be even more selfish. He was still the kind, indecisive, and naive boy she fell in love with. The pair finished the kiss and turned around. They sat down back to back. After a couple minutes Rex spoke up.
"So, does this mean you're staying now?" Rex asked.
Nia stood up and grabbed her bags and Dromarch gave a sly smile at her. He knew what she was thinking.
"Idiot…" Nia said as she walked back in the gate smiling.
"Wha?! Nia? Hey, Nia?!" Rex chased after the smiling blade as she had finally found her place that she belonged.
"Thank you, Rex." She whispered into the air. As she smiled walking back to where her home was.
Alright guys I swear this is the last chapter of mainly romance and fluff. It just always irked me that they never addressed between everyone in the actual game. While they did touch on it, I wanted a little more, though the game was amazing. So next chapter will be more about who the shadow man was and the beginning of the adventure. Will Rex finally come clean about the temple and the strange girl?! Find out in the next chapter! Thanks guys!
