Big Babies

Anger boiled in Kagome's blood. They were going to fight again? What were they, children? Her fists clenched tightly as she glared at the brothers moving away from the group. Sango glanced at her friend and noticed that steam was practically coming from her ears. The demon-slayer laughed nervously and leaned over to Miroku to whisper in his ear.

"I think Kagome is about to lose it."

Miroku glanced at the priestess and nodded in agreement.

Deciding that enough was enough, Kagome inhaled deeply, preparing to yell at the top of her lungs. "Inuyasha! Sesshomaru! If you dare lift one finger against each other I will be very angry!"

"Leave us, Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled back. "This is a matter between brothers."

Sango and Miroku had never seen Kagome go so red, and that was saying something as Inuyasha often pressed her buttons. It looked like she was ready to yell more, perhaps even sit Inuyasha, but she was interrupted by three small youkai jumping into her arms. Mayu and Mamoru snuggled against her, while Shippo climbed onto her shoulder.

"Let them fight, Kagome," Shippo hummed. "My dad once told me it is how they get all the pent-up energy out of their systems."

Kagome sighed in defeat and rubbed her temples in frustration. "I'm giving them both lectures later."

Shippo grinned cheekily. "Can I watch?"

Kagome turned her back to the fight, and saw Ah-Un, a carriage and three guards emerge from the forest. When they saw the sight before them, they stopped and one of the guards, an inuyoukai like Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, rushed to Kagome's side.

"Princess!" he exclaimed worriedly. "What is going on?"

Kagome sighed again. "They are being idiots."

The guard blinked and glanced at his colleagues and the carriage they were guarding. He then returned his attention to his Lord's future mate. "What will you have us do with the prisoner?"

Kagome pursed her lips while she considered their options. Totosai, Myoga and the others were watching her with confused expressions, while the pups jumped down from her arms and settled at her feet. Shippo remained on her shoulder. The brothers were clashing with their swords. She was sorely tempted to still interrupt them, because this was all getting dangerously out of hand. Their pride be damned!

Finally she relented. "We will make camp here. Let the prisoner out, but do not undo her bindings."

The guard saluted and went to do as told. Kagome turned to her friends. "I guess I should explain everything, huh?"

"That would be appreciated, Lady Kagome," Miroku hummed in agreement.
