I own nothing.
Chapter 3
Pebbles hand was firm in his as they drove, she could feel that Bambam's palms were sweaty, and who could blame him. He was about to see his mother after more years then he would count. Suddenly, they found themselves in front of a pair of stone gates, an intercom stood off to the side, and the second they stopped in front of it a voice was screaming at them.
"Do you have an appointment?" called the voice.
"Bambam and Pebbles Rubble—we're here to see…Mrs. Rockworth" said Bambam nearly calling his mother as he had always known her.
"Your name is not on the list" said the voice.
"Mrs. Rockworth is my mother" exclaimed Bambam getting angry as the conversation drew itself out.
"Mr. and Mrs. Rockworth have no children…I have to ask you to leave before I call the police" said the voice actually sounding amused. A million thoughts went through his mind then, his mother had forgotten about him, no one even knew he existed, and digging his badge out of his pocket, he flashed it to the camera above the intercom.
"I am the police, my name is detective Bambam Rubble, my mother is Mrs. Betty Rockworth, now open the gate before I drive through the fucking thing" snapped Bambam feeling as Pebbles grip on his hand tightened.
The voice wasn't heard again and a second later, the gates opened, and Pebbles braced herself as her husband sped through.
"Calm down, babe. You need to walk in there with a calm head" said Pebbles gently making him look at her. For a moment, Bambam was mad at her, it was like she was on his mother's side, but then he looked into her eyes. It was then he realized that Pebbles would never go against him and kissing her hand, he continued onto her cheek. He needed her more then ever.
Getting out of the car, they joined hands as they walked up to the mansion door, but before they got there the doors opened. A woman in a maid's uniform stood there and as they entered the house she looked scared.
"Miss. Betty is coming down—I told her who you said you were" whispered the maid before scurrying out of sight. They found themselves in a large room that looked like a living room only it was three times larger then theirs and completely white. Bambam looked around the room and Pebbles didn't have to ask, she knew what he was thinking; she had left him for all of this.
Pebbles didn't care who saw, she wrapped her arms around him looking at him before moving his bangs out of his eyes.
"We're in this together, babe, don't be afraid of her. Tell her how you feel; don't hold back" whispered Pebbles seeing the tears that had glassed over his eyes. After a moment, he nodded and then they heard it. The clicking of heels against marble tile. They turned around just as she walked in, Betty Rubble, now, Betty Rockworth, but she looked nothing like the woman either of them remembered.
Betty stood tall now in black and white stilettos, she was still pale like a ghost, her dress was much more expensive now though. It was clear blue was still her favorite color. Her hair was still black though it was a fake black now. They could see where the gray had been died away and around her neck was a necklace with a single pearl to match the pearl and diamond wedding ring on her finger. Pebbles and Bambam didn't know what to say as they turned to face her. She was so different, they had expected her to have changed after all these years, but she was a completely different person.
"Bambam, I wasn't expecting you" said Betty seeming to hesitate before taking a single step into the room.
"And Pebbles…I assume you're married?" whispered Betty. The question hung in the air until Pebbles found herself pulled tight to her husband's side.
"Yeah, we're married, but you'd know that if you stuck around" whispered Bambam eyeing her.
"I told you, I wasn't expecting" began Betty before he cut her off.
This was after all the moment he had been waiting for.
"You mean you never expected to see me again" snapped Bambam and then a silence fell. But Bambam wasn't afraid to break it.
"I'm here to talk about dad" sad Bambam.
