Guys, I gotta say, i'm pretty disapointed only 6 of you reviewed...I thought I could get at least 10...oh well. Now, I'm updating because it's time to move on and treat the few of you who did take the time to drop me a line! :) I hope ya'll enjoy this! Shout-outs below! I vaguely remember hearing him grunt as something hard hits him and he drops me to the ground. I roll onto my side and see Cato on top of him, beating punch after punch into his head. That's the last thing I see before I black out.
Much to my shock, I wake up. I was expecting to be enveloped in an endless darkness, never to come out again. I slowly open my eyes and see Cato's deep blue ones staring intently at me. "Oh gosh, you're ok." He says breathlessly as he pulls me into his lap and cradles me there gently.
He tenderly kisses my forehead and I wince in pain from the large bruise that's begun to form. He must have cleaned all of the blood off though because my face no longer feels warm and sticky.
"Did you…?" I start to ask, but have to stop because even simple actions like looking around and speaking cause terrible pains to run through my head.
"Yes, I made him suffer though. No one, and I mean no one, messes with my Clove." He mumbles protectively into my ear. I know he means it to be serious, but I can't help the small laugh that escapes my lips.
I attempt to get up off of his lap, but he wraps his arms around my waist like a tight fitting seat belt.
"Uh-uh. You're not going anywhere. You need to rest. There are only five of us left and you'll need all of your strength to fight off the others…and whatever the Gamemakers decide to throw into the mix." He says, still not loosening his grip.
"Fine then, take me to the tent. I am kind of tired anyway." I say as I try to stifle a yawn. He scoops me up like a small child and gently carries me over to the tent directly by the lake.
I climb inside and he pulls of his jacket and bundles it up for me to use as a pillow. He helps me get settled and kisses me gently on my head again, but this time, on the opposite side.
"How bad was it?" I ask quietly He looks at me for a second and then answers. "It was really bad actually. You lost a lot of blood and I didn't have the proper medications and bandages to clean it very well. It'll probably leave a scar…I'm sorry." He says softly. "But, if our sponsors hadn't given us the blood you needed, I'd be all alone in this horrendous arena." He adds quickly.
"They gave me blood? How? How'd they know who to match me to?" I question him. "I don't know" he shrugs "It's probably in your medical file from when we first got to the Capitol. They must have pulled it and then, whoever had money, contributed I suppose." He finishes.
"How'd you know how to give it to me?" I ask, wondering how he knew what to do. "When I got the pint of blood in a parachute, it came with a little instruction pamphlet on how to blood transfuse. It was quite helpful in my procedure." He says with a slight accent to make himself sound like a doctor.
"Well, I am forever in your debt, doctor." I nod courteously muffling a small smile. "The pleasure was mine, milady." He returns as he kisses my hand. "Now, you need to sleep." He says as he pushes me down onto the pillow.
"I'll wake you if anything happens. Sleep well Clove." He says just before zipping up the tent. I close my eyes and am soon asleep after that.
Boom, You may cheer and celebrate now! I know I was kinda mean keeping ya'll waiting...but I think it was worth it. Now, shout-outs...
