Chapter 7: No Weddings and a Funeral

"So, this is where they decided to change Coke." I said as I stumbled into an area straight out of a nightmare of television. All around me was liquid acid, horrible bass music and the sudden urge to not file my taxes. This has to be where Rez planning his attack on the Media Dimension. Either that or the government decided that New Coke was a bright idea after all. Enough of this, I have television to save!

I leapt across the room and decided to try to get into the inner workings of this strange world once again. The last time me and the big guy tangoed, it was a very close call for me in terms of Rezopolis. I knew that Rez had a few tricks in his brain to try kill me but I knew more then he let on!

The next room was filled with disco music as I started dancing my way around the room, dodging robots left and right. These tricky minions are the true power behind Rez's army and I knew that getting captured now means the end for me. I pressed a button as the glass wall exploded and a small opening was revealed, allowing me safe passage into the next area. I slid down a shaft and ended up at the bottom of what appears to be a trash compactor. I tail bounced my way towards the top as more robots started to show up. I quickly dodged to the side and rolled into an alcove as more robots surrounded the area. I climbed up the shaft as I made my way towards what I felt was the heart of the chamber.

*Inner Sanctum*

I opened up a vent and climbed down from the ceiling as I ran into the next area. It felt like I was in a giant church, only if a cult was running it. There was stained glass windows of both Rez and Mooshoo on them. At the heart of the place was a giant television monitor with a single red remote floating in the middle. The screen changed as Rez appeared.

"You stupid gecko! How dare you ruin my plans in taking over the Media Dimension!"

"This ends now Rez! I've collected all the remotes in the Media Dimension, giving you a big fat nothing in terms of taking over this place. Surrender now or I'll have to kick your butt again!" I exclaimed as Rez laughed at me.

"Just because you have all the keys to the kingdom doesn't mean you rule it Gex! I made you collect those remotes in order to power the Media Dimension! I've been watching you since our first encounter and I'll be damned if some lizard is going to stop me from ruling the world! All this television is mine for the taking and I will brainwash the masses into making me their king! I will rule the world and all of television!"

"That's where your wrong Rez! As the protector of the Media Dimension, I will stop any and all evil from taking over the Media Dimension! Your plans will fail just like before!" I said.

"Heheheh! Gex, you silly gecko! You think your that strong? Then come to me and lets end this then!" He said as the screen changed into "Channel Z". I grabbed the red remote and entered the television set.

*Channel Z*

I landed on a platform as it was taking me up towards the ceiling. All around me were different tvs showing different Z-Grade movies. The platform stopped at a domed area as Rez appeared in the center.

"All around you, there are so many bad movies that the world must see Gex! Join me and together, we can rule the Media Dimension and show nothing but bad movies!" He exclaimed as I stood there.

"But where's the fun in just watching bad movies all the time? Television is all about the suspense, drama, romance and action! Not some bad movie that nobody wants to see everyday!"

"I think it is time for me to show you what it truly means to end up derezzed!" Rez roared as he charged towards me and tried to grab me. I tail bounced on top of his head and tail whipped his head, spinning him around in circles. I leapt towards the side to dodge another swipe as I launched into the air and got him with another attack.

"This dance is just like before Rez! I'll stop you here and now!" I said as I ran forward and motioned for the karate kick but Rez floated upwards and disappeared into one of the screens. I continued to look around until I was grabbed from below.

"You fool! I told you I will win in the end!" Rez exclaimed as he started to squeeze the life out of me. I started licking one of his fingers as it slowly started to sizzle and he let go of me. I landed with a loud thud as he grabbed his hand in pain. I slowly crawled my way towards a television monitor and smacked it a few times until a green fly came out. I licked it up as I felt a little better as Rez looked at me, red in his static eyes.

"You think that just because your such a goody hero that I won't kill you?"

"Heh, that's exactly it Rez, good guys always win in the end!" I said as I tail bounced up high and grabbed one of the monitors. With all my might, I pulled it down and threw it at Rez, hitting him right in the head. He grabbed his head in pain as I gulped up a red fly, making me burn baby! I ran at top speed as Rez continued to hold his head as I leapt in the air for the karate kick. I felt my foot going into Rez's chest and with the added fire, went completely to the other side of him, showing a large hole within his chest. Slowly, Rez lost the ability to fly and landed with a loud crash as the television monitors stopped playing Z_Grade movies and started to explode.

"Curse you Gex! Why must you refuse the kind of change that I want in this world!"

"Because I know a good movie from a bad movie Rez!"

He looked on and then laughed.

"Defeated by my own son." This shook me to my core as the place started to fall apart. "That NASA explosion that took your father's life all those years ago? It wasn't just a coincidence Gex. I am your father!"

"NO! How could that be possible? I mean, your a robot for crying out loud!"

"That explosion caused me to hate everything about reality Gex. I always watched television when you were just a small lizard. But that mission, oh, curse that mission! I knew it was a bad idea from the beginning! they were the ones that changed me Gex. My brain entered the digital world in order to try and survive. Slowly, when I came to, I was a change man, a being from the Media Dimension that did this to me!" Rez exclaimed as the panels started to fall apart.

"No, your lying to me Rez! My father cared for me and my family when that explosion took his life! He would never want to kill his own son just to get the satisfaction!"

Rez looked on as his brain started to short circuit. "You poor fool, you will never be rid of me. So long as the Media Dimension exists, Rez Co will continue to live on! I will continue to live on and will haunt all your movies! You hear that Gex! You can't have me! I AM THE MEDIA DIMENSION!" He screamed as he exploded, knocking me back into one of the television sets. I quickly dived into it just as the place exploded.

*Gex's Mansion*

I tumbled out of the television as I looked around. I shook my head and leaned against my chair as I stared into the blank television screens.

"Hopefully that would be the last I will ever see of Rez. I'm getting real tired of this." I said as I sat in my chair. Suddenly, the door opened as some agents rushed in with the President of Television.

"Gex my boy, you did it! You managed to get rid of Rez once and for all!" He said as a small smile appeared on my face.

"Thanks Prezman but I'm tired. I think I'm just going to retire and watch television in peace. That or maybe start a secret service organization that would at least help you monitor the Media Dimension in case anyone else decides to show up and continue with Rez's plans."

"Splendid idea there Gex, glad I thought of it!" He said as they started leaving my place. I was about to close the door when I heard a voice from behind me.

"So, you think I can start with this organization hotstuff?" I turned around and there stood a bombshell of a woman that would make this cold blooded reptile go hot blooded.

"Sure, when can start?"

"Right now! Just call me Xtra." She said as I smiled.

"Well, Xtra, you and me are going to see about adding some "benefits" to your resume." I said as we both exited the room and closed the door. One of the tvs turned on and static was shown, a metallic face appearing for a few seconds before the monitor turned off.
