And we're finally back! Did I mention this would be updated erratically? XD

Anyway, here's the next entry. Took me a little while before I knew what to do, but I think it worked out really well. For those who don't know (which included me at first) biofilm is basically living slime/slime with organisms in it.

Poke-ball 4: Biofilm

Admittedly, Red expected all of Kanto to bow at his feet when he became the Champion. And, to some extent, he was right: fans flocked to him and mimicked his team, the media stalked him, and everyone knew his name. It was all he had ever fantasized, and so much more.

…Actually, the "so much more" part was the problem.

There was more to being the Champion than lots of battles with challengers (though there were lots of those, and he relished every skirmish). Suddenly he was the symbol of Kanto, and with that came many duties: evaluations of both Gym Leaders and Elite Four members, discussions with politicians and businessmen alike, negotiations overseas to keep fragile peace treaties intact.

And suddenly Red couldn't be Red anymore. He had to be charming, sophisticated, controlled. Nevermind that he was only ten (ten and a half actually), and had no idea what was in store for him at the top. He felt sympathy for all the millions of captured Pokemon and humans all over the world, being absorbed into this massive biofilm called so many things: globalization, regulation, manipulation.

Yet still he was isolated in his own bubble, through he was deeply entrenched in the guts of it all. Though he was an unwilling part of the mechanization, the government and even his own Elite Four looked upon his ten-year-old self with scorn. What could a mere child like him understand, such a savage who only thinks of nature and battles? So they criticized almost every opinion he had, including a lack of opinion on things he genuinely didn't comprehend. But oh, what a nice little trophy he made, encouraging kids all over the world to try harder, and therefore spend more and boost the overarching economy…

You don't know how damn lucky you are, Blue, he thought, as his Charizard glided toward the old professor's lab. Maybe there he could finally get some peace. You lasted just long enough to bask in the glory, before you got sucked down into the slime. You really owe me one.

IIIIII

I've always suspected being Champion tied you into a lot of political/media duties. This has cropped up in Play a Hero False as well, though very briefly. Hope you liked it!
