Well, this one went longer than expected, and in a different direction too. Enjoy!
Poke-ball 8: Lunar
"I know why you're here," said Sabrina under the glow of the full moon. "And I don't like it."
"Of course you don't," said Red from atop of his Charizard. Its tail flame created a halo of light around them as they hovered in the air. "You don't like anything."
Sabrina turned to Saffron City, itself shining with man-made luminance. Such a contrast to the darksome route they were now on, where the only radiance came from the headlights of biker gangs. Not that any of them were dumb enough to challenge either a Psychic-type Gym Leader or a Champion. Well, one of them tried the latter. Red was sure that his Charizard's scorching Fire Blast was now permanently seared on his retinas, and the face of their Weezing.
"You can see the future," Red said. Sabrina had told him as much when he had challenged her all that time ago. One of the few times his both his Pikachu and his Charizard had been soundly defeated, though his Blastoise had been able to recover the match. "And you don't like what you see."
"…Your rebellion will end in failure," said Sabrina, not even looking back at Red. "It will not change anything. It will only invite chaos."
"Why?" asked Red, not shocked or insulted by Sabrina's prediction.
"I will not say."
Red frowned. "If you're not happy about the future, then why don't you try to change it? What's the point of being psychic if you can't do something about what you see?"
"I have often wondered that myself," said Sabrina. "But what I see is not a complete storybook. I see flashes of what's to come, without knowing the context or true significance. I doubt such a power would be of much use to you."
"It's better than nothing," replied Red. "And you seem pretty sure of me rebelling. Yet I'm still the Champion. Why not report me, or at least suggest I be investigated?"
"No one would listen," answered Sabrina. "No one ever has."
"Even when you were recruited to use your powers to scope out future battlefields? Or to read the minds of war prisoners or possible traitors?" asked Red.
Sabrina stayed silent. Her quietness and Giovanni's information confirmed Red's suspicions.
"It's not that you can't change the future," said Red. "It's the fact that you have, a lot. Only the changed future wasn't what you wanted. Maybe you even wish you had the old future back."
Sabrina finally turned, a light brighter than any lunar radiance in her sharp eyes. "Following a foreseen future is simpler and safer, because you can better prepare for it. Change that future in a significant way, and there's no telling what will happen instead. Rarely has my foresight predicted the new future in time for anyone to be ready for it. Yet you still seek my power?"
"Of course," said Red with a sincere smile. "If you feel like the future you created is wrong, don't you want to try to fix it? Even if it doesn't work out the way you planned, at least you could say you tried, right? Or would you rather keep watching things happen with regret?"
There was the slightest smile on Sabrina's moonlit face. "You are a determined boy. And you are also the one who defeated me, even when my visions years before told me otherwise. Perhaps there is a reason you keep appearing in my mind's eye, whether in minor or major moments."
"So will you join?" asked Red.
"I will not." She turned and walked away, disappearing into the night.
But the telepathic message Red received at the same moment said otherwise.
IIIIII
So that's two people (and one criminal organization) that Red's rounded up for his side. The rebellion's starting to shape up.
Btw, on the "scoping out battlefields" part, that's an actual thing people tried to do with psychics during the Cold War. No joke, they actually recruited and did research on possible psychics for military purposes. How successful they were...well, that's debatable :P.
