Merry Christmas! :D Here's my present to you guys!...Well, I was going to post it regardless, but still...
Poke-ball 28: Vintage
The island shook more and more, to the point where Red and Blue almost fell down. Moments later a screech sounded from the nearby volcano, and a fiery bird shot up from the top. Moltres was every bit as majestic as the last time Red saw it with Blaine.
The blazing avian swooped down, pelting the monsters with streams of fire. The creatures in turn launched their own attacks at Moltres, but it was too fast to hit. With the monsters distracted by the legendary, this allowed the real Pokemon to get some free attacks in, and even vanquish a few foes.
Blaine watched Moltres silently.
Agatha merely huffed. "So it finally arrived. How troublesome."
As the numbers of the monsters finally dwindled, Moltres turned to Agatha and began to glow as bright as a second sun. With a shriek Moltres rocketed down, barely missing Red and Blue, and crashed into Agatha. She was sent flying, though she didn't make a sound, even when she collided with the side of the Gym. Moltres looped back around, snatched Agatha off the ground, and flew up high. With the old creature in its talons, the fiery bird launched a point-blank Fire Blast. The distinctive shape burned clear in the blue sky. All that fell was so much charred sand.
Moltres crowed, silhouetted and framed by the sun. It reminded Red of the ancient Kanto symbol carved into many vintage items: a simple long-necked bird, wings spread and talons bared, encased in a circle with sun-rays surrounding it. So this was where that old symbol had come from.
"Arceus..." breathed Red. He knew that Agatha wasn't really human anymore, and needed to be stopped, but such a vicious kill was still shocking to see. There was a reason beings such as Moltres were known as legendaries.
What remained of the monsters crumbled away mid-attack. The sudden lack of racket was both comforting and unnerving.
Erika blinked, before looking around. "Um...what...?"
"Erika!" Sabrina exclaimed. "How do you feel?"
"I...don't know?" Erika admitted. "What happened? How did I get here?"
As Sabrina started to explain, it occurred to Red that Pikachu was probably okay now too. He needed to get his Pikachu back from Sabrina.
Moltres gracefully descended, heading back to the mountain. It paused just above the crater, gazing down at all of them.
And then, impossibly, it laughed just as Agatha did, before diving headfirst into the lava-filled crater.
The ground shook, just like it had upon Moltres's emergence, only now the shaking kept getting stronger.
Alright, Cinnabar's wrapping up now, then a drabble or two more for loose ends. We might really finish before the end of the year...or early into next year at least. Either way there's not much left.
