A/N Disclaimer: I do not own PJO, I hate doing that.
Now for the questions and stuff.
DHG Kablamstar: Does it have to be only reviews? Could it be a normal review that you could answer or respond to in the next chapter?
I will start responding to regular or normal reviews, I am most likely just going to do that now.
Eve (Guest): Can you make (it) Percabeth. *Does baby seal eyes*
Damn, I started picturing the eyes in my mind. I will put up a poll to decide who Percy will be paired with after this chapter is uploaded. So, you can go and check that out after reading, but Annabeth isn't one of the choices - but you can still vote for her - because after reading a lot of stories I have grown to hate her (No offense to anyone that likes the character, I just never liked her - she always seemed like a boring character to me)
True Wielder of Riptide: Interesting and I have enjoyed it so far but will Percy be a third wheel on quests or will he go on quests that differ from those in the original books?
I am planning on Percy following the same quests from the series, but the quests won't play out like they did in the original series, I can promise you that.
Djberneman: Pair him with Hemera.
Hemera will be one of the choices on the poll if you want Percy to end up with her. I will most likely put all the pairing choices and stuff at the end of the chapter for people that put their answers in the reviews.
Ddcs: Mmmmoooorrrreeee,!
What you want is down below, Ddcs.
Edited: 12/7/18. I've got a fucking killer migraine; so if I missed any mistakes, please tell me so I can go back and fix them when this shit goes away.
Time slowed to a stop around me. I felt a connection open up instead my head between two other beings. There was a moment of silence, then, "Why can't you be my son?" Chronos's voice asked.
My head tilted, "Can children of Chronos shadow-travel, father?" I asked. There was a pause, then a defeated sigh.
Time stopped around me all of a sudden, I knew that my dad must've been involved in this. I felt a connection opening inside my head along with two other beings.
"So~, you wanna be my son, eh?" Erebus' voice asked. I groaned mentally. Here I was, stuck in time mid-fall, stuck talking to Erebus and Chronos until he decides to unfreeze it.
"Yeah, kinda the only thing that would make my being able to shadow-travel make sense. Besides, you've already blessed me, all you've gotta do now is man up and claim me," I said, then adding, "Plus, you'd get to stand up to the Olympians when they try to kill me. I don't know about you, but that's pretty tempting."
"What? The Olympians trying to kill you or getting to stand up to them?" Erebus questioned.
"Okay, fuck off, that was unnecessary."
"Kidding, kidding. Of course, I'll be your dad, Percy," Erebus said, "What makes you think they'd try to kill you, though?"
"Oh, I don't know, maybe it's the whole 'Son of a Primordial' thing combined with the fact Zeus is a power hungry, prideful, and paranoid bastard among others things. Altogether, you'd get a Great War." I said.
"Yeah, I see your point," Erebus agreed.
Chronos hmmed, "You're still going to be mine and Ananke's champion, though." He said stubbornly, Erebus scoffing in the background.
"Fine, dad, but it's not like I can come out about it any time soon, they'd definitely kill me then," I said. "If that's all, can I get back to what I was doing?"
"I suppose so."
"Grea-" I was cut off as I was suddenly in motion again, nose-diving toward Zoë. She looked unconscious, just free falling. I got up to her body and quickly put one arm under her arms and the other under her knees, carrying her bridal style. I looked up above us as there was a loud noise, watching for a split second as a helicopter approached the cliff... then turned into a flock of a pidgeons. I quickly got over my shock, looking down and seeing we were 20 meters away from the water, at most. I put myself into gear, thanking all the Primordials I could think of that we were in the shadow of the cliff, focusing on reappearing in the shadows of the forest around the cliff. I felt a familiar pull in my stomach. 10 meter away now. I clenched my eyes shut and felt my center of gravity shift and impacting the ground roughly, making me drop to my knees, barely keeping Zoë up and away from the ground.
I slowly opened my eyes, getting a better grip on Zoë while standing. No one had noticed us yet, they were all crowded around the cliff, a few hunters in tears, Bianca and Nico beside them, trying to look over the side. The other demigods were looking at the Hunters and the two awkwardly while the boy who had hidden behind a tree finally came out. He had raven-black hair like mine and dirty sea-green eyes, he looked pudgy and practically had arrogance coming off of him in waves. The girl had spiky black hair and electric blue eyes, she had an air of confidence that surrounded her which I respected. She was wearing kind of punk clothes, messing with a canister of mace which was probably her weapon.
I looked away from them and looked back to the group at the cliff. I cleared my throat, watching Artemis turn to me with rage clearly written on her face. My eyes widened and I quickly but carefully set Zoë down at her feet, taking a few steps back with caution. Her features softened once she saw Zoë and I standing there, but she now showed massive confusion in her eyes. The others had turned to look when Artemis did, getting big-eyed when they laid eyes on Zoë and me. "Percy!" Nico ran towards me with Bianca not far behind, hugging me, which I awkwardly returned as I had only hugged literally, like, six people in my life.
"Okay, I get it, you missed me. Can you let go now, dude, I can't breathe." I said, struggling in his grip. I gave Bianca a look which said 'Help' and she nodded, getting Nico to let go. His face was flushed red and they both stepped back.
I looked toward Artemis knowing she had to have questions. "How did you get back here?" She asked as two hunters came and picked up Zoë, taking her away.
I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "I shadow-traveled back up here with her," I answered. I watched as her eyes narrowed, focusing behind me as I felt the tip of a sword touch the back of my neck. I didn't even need to see who it was to know. I bristled, breathing out deeply.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked, still staring forward. The two demigoddesses were holding Nico and Bianca back from approaching me and the kid behind me.
"What do you think you're doing interfering in a quest by the Olympians?" He retorted, digging the point of the sword into the back of my neck.
"I'm gonna go ahead and advise you to remove your toothpick from my neck before I snap yours." I could feel a grin creeping onto my face as I felt the tip leave my neck and could sense something coming towards my head from behind. I dropped down into a crouch, sweeping the boy's feet out from under him while quickly grabbing and taking his sword as he fell. I grabbed a handful of his shirt, lifting him up while holding his sword against his throat.
"If you're going to interrupt an Olympian, at least try to make it worthwhile," I spat, dropping him to the ground while tossing his sword off to the side. I shook my head while turning around, facing Artemis respectfully with my back straight.
She let out a small breath through her nose that I almost didn't catch. "And who is your father, boy?"
"Why, the Personification of Darkness himself, Erebus," I answered, watching as her stern, calculating face slacked for a split second in surprise. I didn't get to see it for long, however, as the boy from before tried again. I heard the sharp woosh of a sword swinging through the air and ducked down, tapping Revenge and immediately swinging the flat of the blade back, making contact with the boy's head. I looked down at him, watching as he struggled to stand up again. 'Well, someone's stubborn,' I thought, grabbing his meaty fist as he swung at me and squeezing it, hearing a series of cracks follow. I let go as he pulled away, cupping his hand his other with a sneer on his face.
"I've got a three-strike policy and you just hit two. Last warning, dude, don't mess with me." I stated, turning back toward Artemis. "I apologize for that, Lady Artemis, I don't tend to get along with demigods like him."
Artemis nodded. "I see," She commented, turning toward the huntresses. "Hunters! Set up camp, we're staying here for the night. Set up extras for the demigods." They all got to work quickly, putting up a tent which was bigger than the rest up first seemingly within seconds.
Artemis paused, looking around with her eyes catching onto all the girls and I. "And send the girls to my tent along with the boy..." She trailed off, raising an eyebrow slightly toward me. "Perseus." I quickly said. "Yes, him." She finished while walking off toward where the biggest tent had just finished being set up.
I let out a relieved sigh at all that had happened, looking to talk with Bianca and Nico before having to meet with Artemis. The hunters had gotten to them before me, however, as I went to wait beside Nico for them to finish. They noticed me approaching, though and quickly said one last thing to Bianca before walking off. Bianca approached me and Nico, along with the two girls from Camp Half-Blood. Nico and Bianca gave me looks which just said to tell them everything.
I took a deep breath, "I'll pretty much answer anything you guys have to ask, so shoot." I said preemptively. The daughter of Athena's eyes brightened as soon as I said it.
"While you were fighting the manticore or whatever, Thalia and Annabeth told us about demigods and everything. Why did you tell us when you met us?" Bianca asked, looking troubled.
"Well," I began, thinking quickly, "Would you really believe me if I just went right up to you and told you guys that Gods and monsters were real?" I questioned. "If you guys hadn't been witness to Thorn in person, I don't really think you would've believed them either."
"I would've believed you," Nico said matter-of-factly.
"No one was asking you," I quickly said, staring at Bianca.
"I guess not," Bianca said, still looking troubled. "But why were you here anyway?" She asked.
I bit the inside of my lip, thinking about how to word my answer. "My father, Erebus, thought it was time the Olympians finally knew about me. He knew about you guys and your parent, thinking this was the best plan to make introducing me possible with the added bonus of protecting and making friends with the two of you." I answered, watching for Bianca and Nico's reactions. Nico was grinning up at me, apparently please while Bianca still looked a bit hesitant, but a lot more at ease than before, nodding slightly. Satisfied, I looked toward the demigoddesses.
"Let's go through introductions before you start throwing questions my way," I said as the blue-eyed girl opened her mouth to speak. "I'm Perseus Jackson, son of Erebus. You can just call me Percy, though." I started.
"Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena." The blonde said after me, the girl with blue eyes following after, "Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus."
"It's a pleasure to meet the two of you," I said, smiling towards the two of them. "I can't say the same about the idiot who tried to attack me twice, though," I added.
"Yeah," Thalia began, sending a look to where the boy was trying to talk to a group of huntresses, "That's Marcus, he's a son of Poseidon. Can't say I like him, either," She said, getting a glare from Annabeth as she said it.
"How old is he?" I questioned, crossing my arms, not believing what I was thinking.
Her brow scrunched up slightly, answering, "14." I couldn't help it when my lip pulled up in a slight sneer. 'The prick didn't have enough time on his hands to help my mom out, but had enough time to knock up another woman,' I thought angrily.
"Any questions you guys have for me?" I asked, pushing aside my feelings and looking toward them.
Thalia nodded, asking, "Did you know we would be here?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I knew the Olympians would be sending you here ahead of time. I also knew the Hunters would be here, but don't tell them that." I answered.
Annabeth spoke up. "Erebus is a primordial if I remember correctly. That'd give you a pretty powerful scent and aura. How'd you go so long without being discovered by us, the gods, or monsters?" She questioned.
"Let's just say he took me in when I was younger, and trained me pretty well to control my aura and scent. I've had a lot of run-ins with monsters, but I've always managed to kill them before word could get out about me." I explained somewhat vaguely, trying not to give away too much.
"Isn't that divine intervention?"
"Ah, the ancient laws get a bit fuzzy and confusing regarding me. I'm not exactly a demi-god and don't fully know all the details, but he found a loophole and was able to get away with me." I said, mixing a few half-truths in there. Annabeth nodded, not seeming all that convinced, but I wouldn't be, either. My eyes caught onto where the satyr was, following behind Marcus. "Who's the satyr?" I questioned.
They both looked to where I was looking. "That's Grover Underwood," Annabeth answered. I nodded, thanking her.
"If that all, we should probably head over to Lady Artemis," I said to the girls. "You're probably gonna want to stay away from the hunt, though, Nico," I commented after, looking to Nico.
"Why?" He asked, pulling the coat he was wearing tighter against him.
"Trust me, man, they don't take kindly to boys," I warned
"They seemed pretty okay with you," He retorted.
"I saved their Lieutenant and was respectful, and all that did was get me on terms where they weren't all glaring at me," I said back, uncrossing my arms while nodding my head toward the hunt.
"I see it now." Nico said, looking back to me, "Fine, but you guys better come back soon."
"We'll try, Nico," Bianca said, hugging him.
"You can go and hang out with Grover while we're gone, okay?" Thalia said, gesturing over to the satyr as she saw the look Nico got as he realized he would be left alone.
"Okay," Nico sighed, walking away from us and to Grover.
"Let's go, then," I said, putting my hands in my jacket pockets and walking toward the tent in the middle of the Hunters' camp. Looking around, my eyes caught Zoë's. She was watching me from afar, arms crossed with a curious gaze, head tilted slightly. I tore my gaze away from her and continued walking as if I hadn't noticed. We stopped at the large, silver tent and heard Artemis tell us to enter. We shared one last look between each other before entering.
The inside of the tent was decorated with various pelts, some being recognizable as animals, others assumed to be monsters. There was a desk, wardrobe, weapon rack, and bed furnishing the tent with oil lamps hanging from the center of the tent. Artemis sat criss-cross in the middle of the room on a bear-skin carpet. She gestured for us to sit down and we complied, with Bianca being a bit behind everyone else as she was taken off guard by the appearance of the inside.
"This does not pertain to you, child, so you will not speak unless spoken to, understand?" Artemis states, fixing me with a critical look. I nod and sit back with my hands in my lap. "I know I've asked you, Thalia, and Annabeth this before. But I will ask again in case you have reconsidered. Would you like to become part of the Hunters of Artemis?" She asked calmly.
"We haven't reconsidered and we won't ever reconsider. We said no before, just take it as it is and leave us be!" Thalia practically snarled, standing up. Artemis' calm face shifted slightly, displeased just barely showing with the slight twitch of her lip and the look which she gave Thalia.
"It's in your best interest that you do not speak to me that way, Thalia Grace," Artemis began, "Afterall, you chose a boy over the Hunters. One which, no less, betrayed you and joined Kronos' Army." Artemis said with a stone-cold face as she stared up at Thalia.
"You b-" Thalia started but what cut off by Annabeth whose eyes were wide with panic. "Please excuse her behavior, Lady Artemis. It's been a long night and Thalia's obviously not thinking clearly." Annabeth said, sending Thalia a look and receiving a vicious glare in return. Thalia did sit down, though, as Bianca and I stared wide-eyed at everything that was going on.
"I see." Artemis mused. "And would you like to reconsider the offer, Annabeth?" She asked, looking at Annabeth with her silvery-yellow eyes.
"I would not, Lady Artemis."
"See, Thalia, I asked and she answered civilly. Not all that hard of a concept to follow, is it?" Artemis jested, giving a passing glance at Thalia as she sneered. Thalia opened her mouth, ready to retort to be interrupted as Bianca cleared her throat.
"Sorry, but, you guys do realize that I have no clue what we are talking about, right?" Bianca asked, looking so confused as her eyes shifted between all the girls in the tent. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep my face straight.
Artemis looked mildly surprised, taken aback with an apologetic expression. "My apologies, Bianca. I am asking you if you'd like to join the Hunters of Artemis. I do believe that my huntresses have explained to you our regulations and what you receive by joining, no?" Artemis asked, watching as Bianca nodded hesitantly. "Then you know what you get, can, and cannot do. So, will you join us?"
I kept my face emotionless as I felt began to feel a pit of dread in my gut. I knew the question was coming, but if Bianca agrees to join, it'd put a major wrench our plans. I can manage a lot, get into situations and deal no one else could, but somehow watch over a child of Hades in the hunt is something way surpassing my capabilities. But, she surely wouldn't leave Nico, would she? I mean, he's a son of Hades, if he's left by himself he'll be judged and outcast - along with myself, of course, but I don't really care that much about what happens to me. Millions of thoughts and scenarios played out in my head as I closed my eyes and held my breath, waiting for her response.
Bianca sat there for a second, pulling herself close with a conflicted look her face before finally opening her mouth.
"I..."
