Author's Note:
Well I'm back and this time I'm doing something a little outside my comfort zone. I've never seen a Warren/Victoria pairing before, so I figured what the hell. If anyone knows any other stories that pair them, please let me know.
As always, I'm looking to improve my writing skills so reviews and constructive criticism are much appreciated. If something I write sucks, don't be afraid to rip me a new one.
Before you start reading this there are a few things you need to know since this is an AU story:
- No storm or time travel
- No dark room
- Mark Jefferson is just a normal teacher
- Nathan Prescott is a rich, entitled, spoiled asshole but not a psycho
- Kate Marsh was still drugged at a vortex party, but the exact circumstances and her suicide attempt were different than the canon story which will be explained.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology – September 2014
"Yo, Warren." Robbie's thick New York accent takes my attention away from the vintage Star Wars poster that I just put up on the bare wall of my dorm room. "You got your share for the pizza?" His question reminds me how god damn hungry I am. "Sweet poster by the way."
From the moment Robbie walked into the dorm I knew he and I would get along great. He's got an easy going way about him and knows nearly as much as me when it comes to sci-fi trivia. He's also a serious gamer which certainly works in my favour. I've heard stories about room mates from hell, but Robbie seems awesome. I've only known the guy a few hours, but I could almost call him a friend already.
"Sure thing," I hand him some cash to cover the pizza and he's out the door, obviously famished as well after all the unpacking the two of us have done today. Fast food isn't something I'll be able to indulge in much anymore but it's my first night at MIT and I feel like that's something worth celebrating.
I've only just arrived and I already want to stay here forever. The campus grounds are awesome and everything about this place feels so…alive. Some of the best and brightest minds in the world studied here and I can't wait to see what the classes and teachers are like. I can't remember a time when I was so eager and fearless about a new experience. Normally I'm weighed down by insecurity and fear when it comes to new things, but it seems those days are in the rear view mirror. I feel like a new man, as if I've been reborn which isn't to far from the truth. All thanks to her.
I take in the view from my new home and can't help but admire the river along with the rest of the town on the other side. Hmmm, some exploring is in order for sure. I should know where everything is before classes kick off for the year.
With everything unpacked and in its right place, I lie on my bed which is a little smaller than I'm used to and reach over to my nightstand. Usually I keep what little photos I have in digital form, but exceptions have to be made sometimes. The mere sight of my favourite picture always makes me smile like an idiot and can always be counted on to dispel a foul mood. Victoria looks so damn radiant in the selfie she took of us during our time together at Blackwell. Her short blonde hair is dishevelled, as is mine and we are both naked though only our top halves can be seen. My arm is draped over Victoria's flawless body and her head is resting on my chest, a mischievous smile accompanying her raw sexuality. That was one hell of a night we spent in her dorm.
"Victoria," I say to the photo. "Thank you. You changed my whole world and showed me strength I didn't even know I had." The minutes fly by as I lose myself in memory and my gaze to the photo becomes deeper and deeper.
The smell of her perfume, her terrible taste in music, the way she looked up at me when her exquisite lips were wrapped around my dick. I miss it all.
I miss you Vic.
"Oh good you're not touching yourself," Robbie states with a smart ass tone as he enters the room carrying two pizza boxes.
"What," I blurt out, being taken by surprise.
He smiles, knowing he startled me and I put the photo face down on my night stand next to my phone. "What's that you got?" Robbie's question is followed by one of the boxes flying in my direction. It lands on my bed and there is a piece of meat lovers pizza in my mouth before I can thank him for picking them up. I moan in appreciation at the taste and Robbie digs in to his cheese pizza with the same eagerness as me. "Hmmm, not bad but there is way better pizza back home." He must be referring to the famous style of pizza beloved by all New Yorkers. Now that I live on the East Coast, perhaps I should try it.
"I've never had New York style before. Isn't it supposed to be just regular pizza but fucking massive in size?" I'm hoping my question will both distract Robbie from the photo and give us a chance to bond.
"Yeah, more or less." He reaches for another slice. "So," he says, his mouth still full. "What's that?" Robbie jerks his head towards my night stand.
Shit, should I show it to him? That photo is of an intensely private moment but deep down I know he won't give up til I show him.
"Well, it's kinda…." Robbie eyes me and swallows his pizza. "Fuck it, if I don't show you now you'll just go through my drawer when I'm not here."
"You are not wrong." I hand him the photo and his eyebrows shoot up in obvious surprise. "DAMN! Holy shit dude." I can't help but laugh in response to his shock. He clearly didn't see me as the type to get a girl like that, not that I'm offended. "Can I keep this?" His question is laced in sarcasm. "Oh and does she happen to have a sister?"
"No and no. I don't want your DNA all over it," I shoot back, snatching the picture out of his hand.
"Seriously man, she is fucking hot. She a girlfriend you had at Blackwell?"
"Sort of," I answer honestly. "We never really referred to each other as such, but I guess she was."
"Since we're both nerds, I gotta ask the obvious question here."
The question he wanted to ask was indeed blindingly obvious. It might be the tenth time it's been asked to me. "Let me guess, how did I, a sci-fi geek get someone like her?" He nods. "Well it's kind of a crazy story. I was there, and I sometimes find it hard to believe."
"Crazy stories are the best kinda stories." Robbie stands to retrieve a few cans of sprite from his mini fridge and offers me one. "Come on man. Tell me about you and Blondie."
I take the sprite and figure I may as well tell him what went down between Vic and I. "Well for starters, her name's Victoria Chase and she was one of the more popular, preppy girls at Blackwell while I was a typical geek."
"Talk about star crossed," Robbie muttered.
"That's putting it mildly," I reply and tell him my story.
