Akito felt shock ripple through him- and something more. As his grasp of the girl's hair loosed, he could feel the curse. It snapped in half and left his body, and every other Sohma felt it too.
"Th-the curse…" Gasped Shigure.
Words began to rise to Akito's up throat, though he didn't know where they were coming from. Suddenly he began to speak.
"Tohru has freed us. The curse no longer holds onto our family. The only remains if the curse is the ability to turn into our zodiac, but we can transform at will. This means…. This means we can finally be apart of the world again." Akito dropped to his knees and took Tohru's face in his hands, "Thank you! You have saved us. You love us for who we were. I'm-I'm sorry"
Tohru was stunned, yet when she opened her eyes, her tear-streaked face bore a smile.
"Really, it's no trouble at all." She modestly said. Akito wondered how she could do that. After everything, she still so purely waves away any thanks. She single-handedly changed the Sohmas. Akito's looked around the room. He saw Shigure, Kyo, and Yuki. No, she may have started this alone, but she finished it with the help of those who loved her.
That evening, Akito hosted a feast for all who were at his house in celebration; afterwards Yuki, Kyo, Shigure, and Tohru headed home. They arrived and everyone went to sleep after of course another little spat between Kyo and Yuki, but it felt different this time. Yuki couldn't fall asleep, so he decided to walk to the secret base in the moonlight.
As Yuki reached the garden, he saw a huddled figure.
"Couldn't sleep either, Yuki?" Tohru's sweet voice asked.
" Afraid not, Miss. Honda" he said with a small smile, a smile he always found with her.
"Is it true, through? It doesn't seem real. Did I really break the curse?" Tohru said.
Yuki understood now. He knew she couldn't sleep because what if it's all a mistake.
"There is only one way to find out." Did I really just say that? Where did this course come from? I had always wanted to be close to Tohru, but what if she is right.
He put his thumb under her chin and his pointer below her lips. As he pulled her forward, she wrapped her arms around him. Electricity shot down their spines as their lips touched. Yuki did not transform.
