Time Fixers: Nicktoons of the Future
Episode 16: Temporal Chaos
Plot: Maxwell wakes up one morning to find that the Turners no longer know him and the Nicktoons no longer exists. Thanks to Eustace's doing, the whole timeline has changed. With the help of Jimmy, can Maxwell, Tammy, and Tommy fix the Nicktoons' history back to the way it was?
Part 1
It was quite a peaceful morning for a certain genius. Jimmy Neutron awoke from bed, stretching and yawning from his pleasant slumber. First, he opened the window to take a breath of a new day. He felt in the mood to sing while in the shower. Once dressed up and prepped, Jimmy headed downstairs to the kitchen where Cindy just made coffee.
"Good morning, sweetheart," Jimmy greeted, kissing his wife on the cheek as she poured coffee for him.
"Well, aren't you in a good mood?" Cindy took notice, "Aside what happened a week ago."
It has been a week since the fight between the SpongeCogs and the Nicktoons, with one deactivated and the other gone for good. "Indeed I am," Jimmy smiled, "I don't know why, but I feel in a great mood today. This is motivating me that we're one step closer to exposing Strych and getting my schematic back."
Cindy can't help but giggle, "Guess Eustace's threat won't stop you, then?"
"Nope," Jimmy answered, closing his eyes and took a sip of coffee as he walked towards the hallway, "In fact, there's nothing in the entire universe that'll stop me now!" He opened his eyes just as green foam balls fly towards him.
Cindy quickly took a plate and shielded Jimmy as the green balls ricochet away. "Oh, did I forget they're playing Ball Popper?" Jimmy watched as both the Nicktoons and Cadets are firing at each other with pink and green Popper Guns.
"We're the original Nicktoons!" Darry yelled as he fired green foam balls, "Admit we're the best!"
Yuki dived on the ground to dodge and somersaults forward before firing pink foam balls. "You're the second group of Nicktoons!" She countered, "Because we're gonna be number one!" Twitchy screams like a mad man as he rapidly fires his popper gun. Jimmy stares in agape as multiple foam balls fired all over the room, knocking over picture frames, room ornaments, and devices.
"We won't lose!" Tammy yelled as she fired.
"You won't win!" Tommy yelled as he fired alongside Tammy.
SpongeTron, however, had both his arms transformed into large guns that fired the same foam balls. Junior's gun was jammed are he tried to fire it, but Crash jumped over him and fired his own gun.
However, crossing the line of fire was baby Max who stood on his feet and began to unsteadily walk across the room, unaware that the balls from each side was heading toward him. In shock, Jimmy dropped his mug and screamed, "NO!"
But before the balls could hit the baby, they suddenly stop in midair and Maxwell walked in the middle of the room, using his powers. He then waves his hands out and causes the balls to fly back, hitting each Nicktoon and Cadet in the head, knocking them down. Max falls on his bottom while Maxwell grins and gloats, "I'm victorious."
Darry sits up and rubs his right eye, glaring at the telepath. "You forgot that you're supposed to be on our side."
Jimmy went into the middle of the room and asked, "What are you all doing? Shouldn't you be in school?"
Tommy answered, "We wanted to get some training in first."
Tammy finished, "With all the crazy things that have been happening lately, it doesn't hurt to be prepared."
Maxwell cheerfully smiled while Nano crawled around his body. "I've been improving on controlling my powers." He said with a chuckle, "I have reservations... whoops; I mean doubts, that anyone can gain the upper hand on us."
Jimmy smiled as well since nothing, not even the chaos in his home, could dampen his mood. "Well, that is profound that you're all taking your training seriously. How about tomorrow we schedule some joint training for all of you...in a less hazardous environment?"
The Nicktoons and Cadets all cheer in agreement while Maxwell jokingly comments, "Good thing cuz Scottie is pretty inexperienced."
Darry growls in annoyance and retorts, "I'll show you who's inexperienced." He chases after Maxwell while the latter laughs in enjoyment and runs away.
The other Nicktoons follow so they can head off to school while SpongeTron takes Max to his room. Jimmy watches in amusement before heading back over to Cindy. "You know, Maxwell has really come into his own since arriving." Jimmy mentions, "Seems like yesterday he was throwing tantrums and blowing us across the room with his mind."
"That was yesterday." Cindy dully mentions.
But Jimmy continues, "He has come a long way as a Nicktoon, so maybe when this matter with Strych us taken care of, we can see about having him stay for a little longer." He awkwardly clears his throat and adds, "If his parents permit it of course."
Cindy gives him a look, surprised that he is still oblivious to Maxwell's origins. "Jimmy..."
But Jimmy still remained oblivious. "Don't worry; it's only if he wants to. I wouldn't mind him staying with us- unless he'd rather continue living with the Turners." He walked away blissfully about the idea while his wife sighs with dismay.
Meanwhile, just like his father, Maxwell has a great day as well. At Dimmsdale Elementary, Maxwell spends recess with his friends, playing kickball. Maxwell rolls the ball to Tammy, who kicks the ball high into the air. He backs up, trying to catch it while Tammy runs past first base and past Tommy. Katy and Irma cheer from the dugout.
As Maxwell chased after the ball, he unintentionally uses his powers, causing the ball to fly back at him at fast speed, knocking him backwards onto the ground. Tommy ran over to check on him. But rather than getting mad, Maxwell sat up and laughed.
After school ended, Maxwell and the twins went to Bikini Bottom where Crash, Twitchy, and Junior were outside their house. "I got the barrel of urchins ready and Uncle Squidward's lazy bicycle." Crash said next to a ramp and a recumbent bicycle. "Now for me to jump over it while peddlin' with my hands."
"I don't know, Crash," Tammy hesitantly warned, "It looks dangerous."
Tommy frowned and mentioned, "You already tried this and it didn't work. You broke your spine...and you don't even have one!"
"Phfft!" Crash scoffed, "It's all part of the progress of me bein' a daredevil." He jumped on the bike, lying flat on his stomach so his hands reach the pedals. "Now watch me make that jump!"
He pedals at top speed toward the ramp while everyone watches. Twitchy shakes with excitement as Junior covers his eyes. "I can't look." He cried.
When Crash leaps off the ramp, Maxwell focuses his gaze on him and the bike flies higher and goes over the urchin barrel and safely onto the other ramp. Thinking it was all his doing, Crash took his hands off the pedals and cheered, "Ha! I did it!" However the bike trips over a small rock and crashes onto the ground landing on top of the sponge.
The kids wince at this and Twitchy takes out a cellphone. "I'll call Ma."
Afterwards, Maxwell and the twins went to the Pupununu. They were sitting on the ground with a tiny cauldron between them and Kida. "This is a special potion that Daddy showed me how to make." She explained, "All it needs is some hot slog, nail polish, and seasoning."
After she poured in the ingredients and mixed it together, Tammy asked, "What makes it special?"
"Just watch." Kida responded, holding the cauldron in front of Tommy, who took one whiff of it and promptly passed out. But Kida excitedly giggled and said, "They don't have to drink it to experience the effects. Isn't that cool?" Tammy and Maxwell roll their eyes while the latter takes a small sample of it in a flask.
Later they went to Fenton Works and joined Yuki in the backyard as they watch Darry Phantom sparring with his father, Danny Phantom. Darry tosses three ghost rays at his father while Danny blocks them with a ghost shield. "Is that all you got, son?" Danny taunts. "I thought I taught you better."
Darry returns with a smirk. "You did, Pop. But I taught myself even more!" He flies forward with his fist held high, but Danny simply phases beneath the ground, causing Darry to punch the ground. Danny phases back up behind him and playfully kicks Darry in the bottom, making him fall on his face.
"Getting a little rusty," Danny taunts, Aren't you, Dar-bear."
Darry sat back up and frowned, turning his head toward his father with a smirk. "Not really." Danny feels his arms and legs stiffen up and doesn't realize until now that his shadow was being restrained by Darry's shadow.
Tammy, Tommy, and Yuki cheer, "Yay! Go Darry!"
"Go Scottie's dad!" Maxwell cheers.
Danny smiled in approval, "Looks like you're starting to think outside the box, Dar. I'm impressed."
"Time to address this box with a stamp." Darry replies as he flies forward with his fist held up, but Danny suddenly disappears, causing Darry to slide onto the grass.
Danny reappears next to him and remarks, "Looks like the pizza is on you."
But Darry's shadow suddenly sweeps Danny's legs, causing him to fall on the ground and Darry jumps on top of him. "Guess the pizza's on me." Danny sheepishly admits while Darry smiles with enjoyment.
This makes Maxwell smile as well, feeling reminded of the fun times he's had with his own father.
Afterwards, Maxwell and the twins went to HQ where SpongeTron was and Baby Max was standing across from him. SpongeTron held his arms out and cheered, Come on, Max, you can do it." Max giggled and lifts his right foot to take a step, struggling not to fall over. He manages to take one step toward SpongeTron, but then spots his older self and smiles before making his way towards him.
Maxwell reacts with panic as his baby self walks closer to him. "N-No...not this way. Go to SpongeTron." But Max continues walking towards him, but falls forward, forcing Maxwell to catch him. As Maxwell holds him, the baby smiles and giggles happily. Maxwell can't help but smile as well while Tammy, Tommy, and SpongeTron cheer for Max's first steps.
Soon night fell and Maxwell was in his room at the Turner house, lying in bed as he was about to fall asleep. Nano was on the dresser next to him as the tiny bot beeped. "Well, today sure was invigorating... I mean, fun." Maxwell told Nano, who beeped in response. "Well, of course I like living here. I like fighting crime with the Nicktoons and just hanging out with them."
He took out the medallion and stared at it. "I still miss the home I have in the future, but I may as well enjoy it while I'm here." He pulls his covers up and falls asleep. "Night Nano."
The next morning, Maxwell woke up and sat up in bed, looking like he was in another good mood. "Good morning, Nano." But he looks around, not seeing or hearing the nanobot anywhere. "Hmm, must've got an early start." He got dressed and went downstairs to the kitchen where Tammy and Tommy were already sitting. "What's for breakfast?" Maxwell chipperly asked, "I hope it's waffles."
But silence followed as Tommy and Tammy stare at him in concern. "Do we... know you?" Tammy slowly asked.
While surprised at first, Maxwell narrowed his eyes and sarcastically responded, "Ha ha, very funny."
"Who is he?" Tommy asked Tammy, "Your boyfriend?"
"Eww, no!" Tammy reacted with disgust. "I don't even know him!"
"Well, I don't!" Tommy retorted.
When the two start arguing over each other, Maxwell shouted over them to stop them, "Enough! Will you guys quit with the jokes before I tell Mr. Turner?!"
Right on cue, Timmy walks into the kitchen and stares oddly when he sees Maxwell. "Tammy, Tommy, what have I told you about asking permission before your invite friends over?"
Both kids grasp their dad's legs on each side of him and Tommy explained, "We don't even know who he is."
"He just showed up here." Tammy added.
Maxwell reached his boiling point and asked, "What is wrong with you guys?! It's me, Maxwell, you know, boy genius from the future with an implant in his head that gives him psychic powers. Ask Cosmo and Wanda, they'll vouch for me." The Turners' eyes widen from the stranger apparently knowing about their secret fairy family.
From inside the fishbowl, Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof watch the whole scene in their fish form. "The jig is up." Cosmo points out.
Still seeing that neither of them was acting like they knew him, Maxwell grew more frustrated. "Oh brother, this isn't funny." He unzipped his jacket and showed everyone his orange shirt with a blue atom symbol. "Don't you recognize this? I'm Jimmy Neutron's-"
"Who's Jimmy Neutron?" Timmy asked.
Maxwell's expression turned from annoyance to shock, realizing that the three really did not know who he was. It was like he no longer existed. However, he gets an idea and approaches the family. "Come on, guys, I'm sure once you see Jimmy Neutron, you'll remember..."
He grabs Tammy's arm, but is immediately shoved away by Tommy, but doing so causes him to touch Maxwell's medallion. "Hey! What do you-" Tommy stops as images flash before his eyes, causing him to freeze. "Max, what's going on?"
Maxwell's eyes widen from hearing Tommy call him by his name. "Wait, you remember me?"
Tommy's eyes widen when he realizes that he does indeed remember everything about Maxwell. "Yeah," Tommy whispers in disbelief. "I remember everything about you and about the Nicktoons."
But Tammy still wasn't convinced about what's going on. "Tommy, what are you talking about? Have you gone crazy?"
"You mean he really is your friend?" Timmy asked.
Tommy proceeded to explain, "I know it's weird, but when I touched his medal, I suddenly remembered all this stuff I never knew before."
Maxwell was surprised by this, but Timmy was skeptical about the idea. "Okay, I think that's enough games for now. It's time I call your parents."
"But Mr. Turner-" Maxwell cried until Timmy started pushing him to the living room. "No, stop!" He shouted in panic, which caused his powers to lift Timmy in the air and throw him against the living room wall.
Tammy and Tommy gasp in fear for their dad. Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof appear over him in concern. "Timmy, are you okay?" Wanda asked.
"That kid must be a robot android from the future." Cosmo assumed.
A concerned and remorseful Maxwell ran over to Timmy and asked, "Mr. Turner, are you alright? I'm sorry."
Timmy did not respond, but reached over to him and ended up touching his medallion. Timmy feels the same kinds of memories flashing before him. Afterwards, he smiles at Maxwell, "Been a while since you psychically threw me, Max."
Maxwell smiled when he heard Timmy recall his name. "Mr. Turner, you remember me."
"I don't even know why I didn't." Timmy said, holding his head. "I couldn't remember you or the Nicktoons until I touched the medal you're always wearing."
Tommy remembers the same thing that happened to him and looks at Tammy, who is staring at the scene oddly. Without a word, he grabs Tammy by the arm and pulls her toward Maxwell.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Tammy cried out as she was pulled by the arm and forced to touch Maxwell's medallion.
Tammy freezes in place when she suddenly regains all her past memories. Afterwards, she cries out, "Max!" And leaps onto the psychic with her arms around him, making him blush. "I can't believe I actually forgot about you!"
Tommy went behind Maxwell and took his phone out of his back pocket. He then took out his own phone and scrolled through their pictures. "Why did we forget him?" He sees a selfie of him and Tammy with Darry, Maxwell, and SpongeTron on Maxwell's phone. But his phone just showed him and Tammy as if the other three had been edited out.
Timmy looks at the phones suspiciously and stated, "Something is obviously not right here. You three should take Poof and go see Jimmy Neutron. I'll stay here with Cosmo and Wanda in case anything else happens."
"I can get us there." Maxwell volunteered. "I'm still a Nicktoon, remember?" He dug into his pockets, but realized he can't find his Recaller. "Hey, where'd my Recaller go?"
"Ours are gone too." Tammy mentioned, "Just like our memories were."
"Which means we're gonna have to do this the old fashioned way." Tommy added. "Poof, I wish we were in Retroville."
"Poof, poof, strange adventure." The amnesiac Poof said with excitement as he waved his rattle.
The group appear in Retroville, which doesn't look much different than it usually does. The three look up ahead to see Nicktoon HQ in the same place it usually is. They were about to run through the front doors until Jimmy Neutron emerged from the building himself. "Commander!" They all cried in joy as they hug his legs.
But Jimmy was perplexed by this and moved them away. "Can I help you, children?" He asked them.
"Commander Neutron, it's us." Tommy explained, "Tommy, Tammy, and Maxwell."
But Jimmy brushed them off and coldly responded, "I'm sorry, but I don't have time for this. Nor do I know any of you, and I'm not anyone's Commander."
He started to walk away while tapping on a tablet. Tammy yelled to him, "Jimmy, wait! We need your help!"
"We think the Nicktoons are in trouble!" Tommy added.
Maxwell then thought of something and asked, "Do the names 'SpongeBob' and 'Danny Phantom' sound familiar?"
Jimmy raised an eyebrow and responded, "Look, kids, I don't know what you're going on about, and I certainly don't know any 'Sponge Phantom' and 'Danny-Bob'. Now go on home, so I can get back to work."
"He doesn't remember anything about us." Tammy whispered to the boys. "Just like we did."
Maxwell then thought of another idea and asked Jimmy, "Mr. Neutron, does the concept of universal portal technology sound familiar?"
Jimmy frowned as he answered, "Actually, it does. The successful business man, Eustace Strych, is set to unveil it soon. I can't believe he ended up discovering something like that."
"WHAT?!" The three kids shouted aloud.
"Dude, the universal portal technology is YOUR invention!" Tommy snapped at him, "Not Strych's!"
"Phfft," Jimmy scoffed. "Nice try, kid. But I definitely didn't invent that. Eustace came over to my place a bunch of times to rub it in my face." He slumped over in defeat and added, "He was even gonna locate my ex-girlfriend, Cindy Vortex, and ask her to dinner."
Maxwell gained a look of panic on his face. "Oh no, this means that I definitely should not exis-"
"Excuse me!" Jimmy interrupted. "If you're all done with your games, I think it's time you go back home to your parents."
"You know our parents." Tommy objected, "You know our dad, Timmy Turner, you teamed up with him and the other Nicktoons to save the world!"
Tammy added, "You made us Nicktoons, and we reunited you with Cindy."
"You marry Cindy and have a baby," Maxwell explained while slyly adding, "Who grows up to become a genius like you." He receives glares from the twins. "Or...so I've heard."
But Jimmy still looked skeptical about the strange kids' claims. "Okay, I think I've heard enough of your crazy stories. I'm already late to marvel at Strych's idea for some 'team of world saving heroes', though I wonder who would wanna be a part of that."
Hearing how much things have changed, Maxwell narrows his eyes in determination and runs in front of Jimmy, "Wait, wait! Before you go, can you take a look at my medallion?" He asks with an innocent grin.
"Why?" Jimmy asked with a suspicious raised eyebrow.
"It's a highly functional circuit board containing audio and visual sensory and image processor, and digital navigation, and chronological display."
Jimmy stayed silent in shock for a moment, but immediately grinned with excitement. "Well, why didn't you say so?" And immediately grabbed hold of the medallion. Memories flash in his mind and he blinks before staring at the children in realization. "Tammy... Tommy... Maxwell..." He muttered.
Maxwell smiled with joy. "You remember us!"
"Of course I do." Jimmy replied, smiling as well. "I remember you, the Nicktoons, and all the adventures we've had." His smile drops upon realizing, "I remember that I'm the inventor of the Universe Portal Machine."
Tammy frowns in anger when she states, "Since you're not anymore, I think we know who's behind all this."
Narrowing their eyes, Maxwell and Jimmy nod in agreement, and both Tammy and Tommy exclaim, "I wish we were in Eustace's house!"
Poof waves his rattle, and the group appear in the basement of Eustace's mansion, where Maxwell had been brought when he was first captured. "You think we should call Darry and SpongeTron here too?" Tommy asked.
Jimmy replied, "I'm sorry, but I don't think they can help us." The three kids gasp and Jimmy continues, "The Nicktoons don't exist anymore for some reason. So like the rest of us, Darry doesn't know who any of us are. As for SpongeTron, since I never met SpongeBob, I never became inspired to create the ST-Units, meaning SpongeTron doesn't even exist anymore."
"Hold up! Hold up!" Tommy objected. "If SpongeTron doesn't exist, then how come Maxwell is still here when you-" Tammy covered his mouth to prevent him from spilling Maxwell's secret.
"-You didn't form the Nicktoons in the first place where Maxwell would join," Tammy corrected, "Wait, if Maxwell remembers everything, then how is it we suddenly remember?"
"Cuz of the medal thing, remember?" Tommy explained, holding up Maxwell's medallion, but wondered in curiosity. "So what exactly is this anyway?" He opens up the foil covering it, revealing a strange symbol with the letters "CW" carved in.
They both gasp, recognizing the symbol. Even Jimmy was in shock. "Maxwell," he asked in a stern voice, "Is there something you want to explain?"
"I-I..." Maxwell stammered nervously.
"Very good, Neutron." A voice interrupted. "Even without your true memories, you managed to figure out everything is not what it seems."
Jimmy moved in front of the kids and callously responded, "I don't need my true memories to know that you're the one behind all this. You stole my life and destroyed the Nicktoons."
Eustace stepped out of the shadows, wearing a trench coat over his business suit and holding a small remote in hand. "I haven't destroyed anything yet. But I will now that I know all your friends' secrets to their success."
"What are you talking about?" Tammy demanded to know.
"How are you gonna do something like that?" Tommy asked.
"With my spectacular device." Eustace answered as he pushed a button on the remote, making the Universal Portal Machine turn on and activate its glowing portal.
Jimmy's eyes widen in realization. "That's my portal machine."
"Oh please, Neutron, you didn't create this anymore."
Jimmy walked over to the portal machine and pointed at a cartoon sticker on the side. "That's the llama sticker Carl put on there years ago." He then stared Eustace in the face and pointed at his chest. "Which means you stole it and used it to change history and prevented the Nicktoons from ever forming." Tammy, Tommy, and Maxwell gasp in shock at hearing that their whole history has changed.
Eustace chuckled with a smirk. "He said you would catch on very quickly. He also said that preventing you Nicktoons from forming would not be enough."
"Who said?" Jimmy wanted to know.
"My business partner. He told me all I needed to know about how to make sure you all never form a team, and never... become the heroes you are today." Eustace pushes a button on the remote that makes the portal glow again he starts running in.
"No!" Jimmy yelled, trying to stop him, but it was too late. Eustace already disappeared into the portal.
"What's happening?" Tammy asked in panic.
Maxwell went over to the control panel. "He's traveling through time into another world."
Jimmy looked at him in surprise. "Are you sure?"
Maxwell nodded and added, "If we just use the same coordinates from his departure, we can follow him and stop whatever he's up to." Jimmy smiled in approval.
Tammy held her face and nervously said, "If he's going through time, who knows what he's gonna do?"
"Maybe he'll stop us from being born." Tommy assumed with the same amount of nervousness.
"None of that will happen. If we're still here, Eustace still hasn't succeeded." He turned to the telepath, "Maxwell, is the device ready?" Maxwell nodded in response, "Great, let's blast."
He went into the portal, followed by Maxwell. Tammy giggled in excitement. "A mission led by Jimmy Neutron. How great is this day?"
Tommy rolled his eyes. "I get the feeling Max restored the memories of your lame crush." He sarcastically said as they went into the portal.
Soon, the portal takes them to Bikini Bottom and Jimmy gives them some air gum to help them breathe. "Bikini Bottom?" Tommy questioned, "Why'd we come here?"
"I'm ready! I'm ready!" A familiar voice shouted as they see a familiar yellow sponge marching down the road.
"Hey, it's SpongeTron!" Tommy pointed, seeing that the sponge looked like SpongeTron.
"That's strange." Tammy said. "Why would he be here in the past?"
"That's not SpongeTron." Jimmy said with his eyes widening. "That's SpongeBob."
"What?!" The three kids exclaim in shock, realizing that the machine brought them back into the past when SpongeBob was considered a child; which may have been Eustace's intended destination.
"Oh no!" Tammy cried in panic. "What if Eustace is planning to do something horrible to SpongeBob?"
Maxwell assured, "Whatever he's planning, we'll stop him first."
But suddenly, they heard wailing, and turn to see SpongeBob crying hysterically as he ran back towards Patrick. "SpongeBob, what's wrong?" Patrick asked in concern.
"I'm too late, Patrick." SpongeBob cried. "The job was already taken. My dreams are gone now."
To comfort him, Patrick put his arm around SpongeBob's shoulder. "Don't worry, buddy. Who wants to work at the Krusty Krab anyway? I'm sure there are more exciting jobs out there."
As the two walked away, Maxwell questioned, "But isn't SpongeBob supposed to get a job at the Krusty Krab?"
"He is...at this moment." Jimmy realized. "Something must have changed the timeline, but what?"
Suddenly, they were given a jump when someone in a diving suit approached them, and through the glass on the helmet, they see Eustace's face. "Such a shame that SpongeBob couldn't attain his dream." Eustace said with sarcasm. "Of course not seeing this certainly helped." He holds up a Help Wanted sign.
Tammy gasped in disappointment. "You took that just to trick SpongeBob."
"'Trick' is such an awful word." Eustace casually said, tossing away the sign. "I prefer to think that I merely influenced his choice."
Jimmy stood in front of him and yelled, "Do you realize what you have just done by changing the past?!"
"We'll soon find out." Eustace answered as he laughed and disappears. Jimmy and the kids soon notice that they are disappearing as well and hold onto each so they won't separate.
They quickly reappear back in the same area of Bikini Bottom, except it looked slightly different. The Krusty Krab looked empty while many people were around the Chum Bucket. Tammy and Tommy ran over to the Krusty Krab and stared through the glass of the front doors to see it was empty. Maxwell noticed a sign on the window that read "Out of business". He asked in confusion, "Why would the Krusty Krab be closed down? Where's SpongeBob?"
Jimmy held his chin as he stared in the distance. "I have a pretty good idea."
They see the customers entering and leaving the Chum Bucket; the ones leaving looking really sick. They enter and see many customers sitting at tables, reluctantly eating blobs of chum. The Nicktoons were disgusted by this. "How could it have come to this?" Maxwell asked.
"Letusin! Letusin!" A familiar unintelligible voice yelled. Past the crowd, they see all the SquarePants children surrounding the kitchen door. The door would not open since it was locked by a keypad.
Crash tried to ram his head through the door, but it just roughly bounced off. Junior then timidly pleaded, "Please let us in, Mr. Plankton. Mommy just dropped us off so we can spend time with Daddy." But when they get no response, Allie just growls in anger and starts kicking the door.
"Crash, Twitchy, Junior!" Tammy and Tommy both yell in joy at seeing their fellow Nicktoons.
But the three just look at them, perplexed. "Who're you guys?" Crash asked.
"Crash, it's us." Tammy explained, "Tammy, Tommy, Maxwell, and Jimmy Neutron."
But Crash still looked confused as Dolly asked, "Ya really know these guys?"
Twitchy frowned as he shook his head. "I've never heard of 'em."
"Yeah, and why do they look so funny?" Allie wondered.
"Perhaps, they came from an industrial toxic waste dump," Sally suggested.
"They never met us before so they don't know what us humans look like," Maxwell explained and cleared his throat, "So, think you can tell us what happened to the Krusty Krab?"
Before any of the kids could answer, Junior whispers to them, "Pss, Mommy says we're not supposed to talk to strangers."
"Right," Sally agreed. "Let's go, guys. I don't think Dad is gonna stop working anytime soon."
"Somedad…" Twitchy rapidly muttered, displeased.
As he started walking away, a frustrated Crash yelled out, "Third weekend in a row!"
They start to leave the restaurant and ignore the Nicktoons until Tommy grabs Buster by his arm. "Wait, Buster, we used to be on the same team."
Buster just frowns silently and pulled his arm away before joining his younger siblings. Jimmy acknowledges the situation and states, "They seemed different somehow. I wonder why they were referring to SpongeBob in such a negative manner."
"If only we could get into the kitchen to see him." Tammy said. But Maxwell was already rewiring the control panel on the wall.
Maxwell moved one wire and the door hinges spark, unlocking them. "That was a simple fix."
Once the twins opened the now unlocked doors, Jimmy approached him with a proud smile. "Excellent work, Maxwell. That was very bright."
As they walk inside, Maxwell grins at the compliment from his father. Inside the kitchen they find SpongeBob on a step ladder, wearing a Chum Bucket hat and gas mask while he stirred a large vat of chum. "SpongeBob?" Jimmy asked.
The sponge quickly turned around. "Who said that? Who's there?" He removed his gas mask and put on his glasses, allowing him to see the group. "What are you doing here?" He asked, stepping off the ladder. "This area's restricted."
Tammy smiled with joy. "SpongeBob, it's really you?" But then she became confused, "What are you doing in the Chum Bucket?"
"Mr. Plankton!" SpongeBob hollered, only for Maxwell to quickly use his powers to put SpongeBob's own hands over his mouth.
Jimmy rushed over to him and kneeled to his height, gently grabbing hold of the sponge's hands. "SpongeBob...we haven't met. But believe me, I'm your friend." He stated, repeating the very first words he spoke to SpongeBob.
SpongeBob seemed taken aback by this, but he took a step away from Jimmy and said, "You guys are weird. Why are you interrupting me while I'm trying to work? My ex-wife is gonna drop off my kids any minute."
"Ex-wife?" Tammy questioned, wondering if he was referring to Sandy.
But Tommy mentioned, "Your kids are already here."
SpongeBob's angered frown turned to sadness. "Oh barnacles. I'm in it for sure. This was my last chance before she said she would move them all to Texas."
Jimmy reacted in shock while asking, "SpongeBob, can you tell us everything that happened after you applied for work at the Krusty Krab?"
SpongeBob sadly explained, "Sure, I remember that day. It was supposed to be my dream job, but it seemed like somebody already got the fry cook job. I had no other choice, so I applied for the only other job available, the Chum Bucket. It wasn't popular at first, but with no one to make krabby patties, the Krusty Krab closed down and this is now the only place to get food."
Everyone reacted in surprise at the changes that occurred. "Mr. Plankton keeps me working very hard every day that I don't even have time for my family anymore, and eventually Sandy couldn't take it, so we separated."
"No..." Maxwell uttered in despair. "It's not supposed to be this way. You're supposed to work at the Krusty Krab, making krabby patties."
But SpongeBob repeated, "Krabby patties are extinct."
Maxwell held his medallion and ran over to SpongeBob. "Here, touch this." He urged, holding his medallion out to him. "It'll help you remember everything about us and everything you're supposed to be."
SpongeBob hesitantly reached a hand toward it, but before he could touch it, the door swings open and there stood Plankton. "SpongeBob, what's the hold up?" He demanded to know, "You got customers waiting for their chum."
SpongeBob reacted with shock, seeing his boss. "Mr. Plankton!"
Upon seeing the Nicktoons, Plankton asked, "What are you doing here? No one is allowed in the kitchen!"
Jimmy responded, "He is not your fry cook, Plankton. You have no idea how different everything should be."
Plankton coyly smiled and held a remote. "Oh, I have measures to deal with distractions such as yourselves." He pushed a button on the remote and it opened a trap door that dropped the Nicktoons down and threw them behind the Chum Bucket like trash.
As they try and recover, they are approached by Eustace Strych as he taunts, "What's wrong, Nicktoons? You look confused. Has something... changed?"
Upon seeing him, Jimmy growled in anger and sprang up, launching at Eustace and grabbing him by the front of his diving suit. "Do you realize what you've just done?" Jimmy furiously asked, glaring at Eustace in the eyes. "You've tampered with the fabric of time and destroyed my friend's life."
Eustace took out a taser and jabbed Jimmy in the chest with it, causing him to let go and fall to the ground, stunned. "Neutron!" The kids cry out, surrounding him.
"Indeed I have, James." Eustace responded to him. "However, I'm still not finished. I have a couple more stops to make." He pushed a button on the remote and it created another portal that Eustace went through.
Tommy quickly took out his magic medicine box from Poof and healed Jimmy until he could move again. "Jimmy, are you okay?" Maxwell asked in concern.
Jimmy stood up and assured, "Don't worry, I'm fine. But if we're gonna put SpongeBob's life back to normal, we have to follow Eustace." He quickly ran toward the portal and the other three follow him.
They end up in another town that neither of the kids recognizes. "Where are we?" Tammy asked.
But Jimmy easily answered, "Amity Park before either of you were born."
Upon hearing the name, Tommy quickly realized what Eustace might be up to. "You don't think Eustace is gonna..." They look up ahead and see Eustace standing next to Fenton Works in front of a fuse box he opened up.
"Eustace!" Jimmy yelled as he and the other approached him. "What are you up to?" He demanded to know, "What have you done with Danny?"
Smiling, Eustace answered, "Why, nothing of course." He pointed to the house, "He's in there. Just like he was twenty years ago on this day."
They all look suspiciously with narrowed eyes as Jimmy asked, "What are you playing at?"
Eustace calmly smiled as he placed his hand on the lever. "Just preventing a near fatal accident." He pulled down the switch and this causes the power in Fenton Works to shut off. Down in the basement, a teenage Sam and Tucker were standing in the lab when they notice the lights shut off, leaving them in darkness.
But inside the ghost portal that a teenage Danny Fenton is exploring for the first time, he unknowingly places his hand on the power button. However, unlike last time, nothing happens due to the black out.
Outside, the kids gasped. "You stopped the freak accident that gave Danny his powers!" Jimmy pointed out.
"So Danny Phantom is now just Danny Fenton?" Tommy asked, "What will happen to him and Amity Park?"
They then heard voices, "See? I told you there was nothing interesting in that portal." They peek around to see the young Danny, Sam, and Tucker. "It's just a dud, like all my parents gadgets."
"Well, I just thought it'd be cool to see what's inside." Sam replied, "But isn't it a little weird that the power suddenly went out?"
Tucker mentioned, "A pair of crazy scientists? They probably forgot to pay the electric bill."
The Nicktoons watch the trio leave, unaware of what they just missed out on. But Maxwell narrowed his eyes in determination and ran over to them. "Max, no..." Tammy loudly whispered.
Maxwell stopped in front of the teenagers and gave a friendly smile, "Hi. Think we can talk for a bit?"
Danny wasn't really sure who the boy was. "Uhh...sure." he answered while shrugging his shoulders.
Tucker whispered to him, "Danny, you know this kid?"
"What? Of course not." Danny whispered back.
Maxwell spoke in a fake excited tone, "I have been in auditory perception of your parental units' knowledge of the paranormal." But upon realizing how he was speaking, he slapped his forehead and groaned, exasperated.
Sam looked at the boy suspiciously. "What are you talking about?"
Maxwell quickly shouted in excitement, "Let's go in your basement and show me your ghost portal!"
Danny looked surprised that he knew about the new portal. "I don't know how you know about that, but sorry. My parents don't really give tours."
On the verge of losing his patience, Maxwell shouted, "Look, will you just go back inside and enter the ghost portal? How else are you supposed to get ghost powers and become a superhero?"
The three just stare at him until Danny forces a grin on his face. "Whoa, kid...real imagination you got there."
Sam kneels down to his height and offers, "Do you want us to help you find your parents?"
"No, no, no!" Maxwell yells in frustration. "I'm telling you, if you don't go back in that ghost portal, you won't get superpowers, you won't become Danny Phantom, and neither will your dumb and less important future son, Scottie!"
The three once again stare silently at him, unsure of what to say to the strange boy until Jimmy rushed in. "Hey, there you are." With an awkward grin, Jimmy says to Danny and his friends, "Thanks for looking after my little friend here." He quickly ushers Maxwell away while muttering through his teeth, "Let's go."
But as he was led away, Maxwell yelled back, "Get your butt back into the ghost portal!"
Staring at the two leave, Danny comments, "There's one kid who watches way too many cartoons."
"That guy sure had a big head." Tucker added.
Once the two were back with Tammy and Tommy, Eustace sarcastically asked, "Why the long faces? Couldn't convince a young boy to put himself in a life threatening accident?" Like last time, the whole group began to disappear, signifying that the timeline was changed and that they were about to enter a different future.
The group reappears in the current timeline of Amity Park. Everything seems fine, but fairly gloomy. "Okay, what did he screw up in our friend's timeline now?" Tommy groaned.
"I don't know," Tammy said, taking note of the environment, "Everything looks the same." She smiles at Maxwell saying, "Maybe Danny did listen and took your advice."
Jimmy held their shoulders and kneeled down behind them. "I have the slightest suspicion you might be right."
They look ahead to see Fenton Works still standing. Tommy smiled hopefully. "Darry, Yuki, and their parents might still be there. We can get their help."
He ran up the steps and knocked on the front door. The other three joined him just as the door opened to show Darry Fenton, who looked exactly the same, though with a tired look in his eyes. "Darry!" Tammy and Tommy cry out in joy as they hug him. But Darry just looked confused and moved them aside.
"That's so not cool." Darry boredly said, looking unamused.
"Sorry Darry." Jimmy responded. "We're just relieved that you're still alright."
"How do you know my name?" Darry asked. "Who are you?"
"Guys!" Maxwell shouted in annoyance. "Obviously Scottie doesn't know us since this is a timeline where we never met him."
Darry raised an eyebrow and mentioned, "You don't seem to know my name."
Jimmy then asked, "Darry, are the rest of your family okay?"
Darry look a step back inside the house and hollered, "MOM! There's some strange people here who know you and Dad!"
The Nicktoons come inside and just as Sam says in a tired voice, "I don't have time for that, sweetie." They see Sam ironing clothes, looking exhausted with baggy eyes and her hair unkempt, and was wearing a white top, blue striped pajama shorts, and a purple bathrobe. She looked at her son with her eyelids heavy. "Have you cleaned your room yet?"
Darry crossed his arms and plainly responded, "No."
With a defeated sigh, Sam stated, "I'll do it later."
As the Nicktoons look at what has become of members of the Fenton family, it gets worse. "Great. More admirers." They jump in startle at the female voice suddenly behind them. They quickly turn and are startled even more by the sight of a small girl with short black hair covering her entire face, leaving her right eye partially exposed, wearing a black poncho, white stockings, and black mary-jane shoes.
The three are shocked that a little girl would wear that sort of thing, but it shocked Tommy more when he recognized her, "Y-Yuki?"
"You know my name?" She asked then frowned, "Ugh, stalker much?"
"YUKI?!" Tammy and Maxwell shouted, shell-shocked at what has happened to their friend.
"Is that really you?" Tammy asked, glancing at her, "Why... why are you dressed like that?"
"She's always dressed like that. She's a Goth after all," Darry explained.
Even Jimmy was flabbergasted by this. "But she's...and her parents approve of this?"
This went unnoticed by Sam, who was too focused on vacuuming the floor. But someone came down the stairs and cheerfully greeted, "Wow, wasn't expecting visitors today." This man was Danny Fenton, who had the same appearance, but was noticeably scrawnier and was a lot more cheerful.
"I know why you're here." Danny stated as he handed the Nicktoons flyers. "My autograph." They stare oddly at the headshot pictures of Danny that had his name scribbled across it.
"Uh, Danny?" Jimmy started saying, "You may not know me, but I know you."
"Of course you know me." Danny replied, "I'm a famous astronaut."
"What?" Jimmy asked in surprise that even in a bad future, Danny was doing better than ever. "You mean you achieved your childhood dream of becoming an astronaut?"
A surprised Maxwell also asked, "You seem to be doing... great, Mr. Fenton."
Danny grinned as he mentioned, "Sam hasn't even told you the good news. Tell them, honey."
While folding laundry, a tired Sam answered, "Danny's going on a journey to Mars."
"That's right." Danny excitedly said with his thumbs up. "See ya in ten months."
Danny was about to leave until two ectopusses fly in, phasing through the front door. Yuki did not react, but Darry suddenly screamed and crouched on the ground, shaking as he held his head. Sam just groaned in frustration as she held a broom. "Not again." She tried swatting the ghosts away, but was ineffective due to the broom flying through them as they laughed.
Seeing the house in panic, Tammy cried, "Mr. Fenton, aren't you gonna do something?"
Danny just carelessly opened the front door as he answered, "What? No, of course not. I'm not my parents...or a superhero."
As Danny got in his car, Tommy assured, "Not to worry, Darry and Yuki can still fight ghosts."
Yuki took out a piece of paper and stated with no emotion, "A poem titled 'Family': A brother so dim. A stressed mom, an absent dad. Our family's doomed." Behind her Darry was still cowering on the floor until one of the ectopusses approached. Yuki still stood there without reaction, but Darry screamed in terror and crawled up the stairs as he cried loudly in fright.
Watching what became of his teammate in shock was Maxwell who muttered, "I can't believe this is happening..." He suddenly grinned in amusement, "...and that I don't even have a camera to record it all."
Tammy and Tommy glare at Maxwell in disapproval until they see Jimmy leaving the house. He starts thinking to himself out loud, "Hmm... without the lab accident, Danny never became a superhero, never gained a sense of justice, had more time to focus on his own life goals, therefore leaving no one to fend off the ghosts in Amity Park..."
"...and without his ghost powers, Scottie never became a superhero and instead became a sniveling crybaby with a scary emo sister." Maxwell concluded.
Tammy frowned in turmoil. "This future is worse than the last."
Suddenly, they heard screaming and see Darry run past them, crying out, "Another scary ghost in my room!"
They see said ghost fly out of Darry's bedroom and it was none other than the Box Ghost, levitating a few boxes. "Now that I have control over your boxes, now one will stop me as I move onto the next!"
After seeing this, Maxwell grinned and commented, "Personally, I prefer the Scottie of this world." Upon receiving glares from his friends, he quickly added, "That was a humorous joke."
"I agree with the boy." Eustace added as he approached them. "I prefer it this way too."
Jimmy scornfully said to Eustace, "Alright, Eustace, you already destroyed two of my friends' lives. What are you gonna do next? Prevent Tak's destiny? Prevent Timmy from meeting Cosmo and Wanda?"
Hearing the last threat, a nervous Tammy and Tommy hug Poof tightly. But Eustace responds, "Those all sound like terrific ideas, but no. You see, I thought I'd save time by going to the moment where it all started."
"What are you talking about?" Tommy asked.
"Here's a hint: What was the moment that inspired Neutron to construct his plans for the Universal Portal Machine?"
"That's an easy one!" Tammy enthusiastically answered. "Jimmy invented the portal machine because he wanted to study the wonders of the universe."
Tommy frowned and mentioned, "I think your Jimmy Neutron trivia is a little rusty."
Eustace smirked as he took out his remote. "While you're trying to figure that out, I'll just be off to my destination."
Jimmy narrowed his eyes and commanded, "Come on, guys. If we follow him, we can find out what he's up to."
Maxwell wasted no time in following him inside the portal. Tommy turned to his sister and asked, "How much more of the Nicktoons' origins are left to destroy?" Tammy just shrugged in response and they both run into the portal.
