Hey guys! I am back with another chapter of Through Time and Space! Well, tomorrow I'm heading for Walker Stalker Con Nashville. If you guys happen to be going, let me know! I'm actually working it, so it'll be slightly difficult to meet up. I'll try to let people know where I am if anyone wants to try and find me. Anyways, the song of the chapter is Alexander Hamilton from Hamilton. Hope you enjoy the chapter!
End of the World Part 2
We walk into another large viewing room, where Rose is sitting down looking at the Earth.
"Rose? Are you in there?" The Doctor yells out as we walk in. "Aye, aye. What do you think, then?"
"Great. Yeah, fine. Once you get past the slightly psychic paper. They're just so alien. The aliens are so alien. You look at 'em, and they're alien." Rose says.
"Good thing I didn't take you to the Deep South."
"Where are you two from?"
"Kate is from Earth actually. She keeps popping up on my timeline. Me I'm from all over the place."
"They all speak English."
"No, you just hear English. It's a gift of the Tardis. The telepathic field gets inside your brain and translates."
"It's inside my brain?" Rose asks surprised.
"Well, in a good way."
"Your machine gets inside my head. It gets inside, and it changes my mind. And you didn't even ask?" Rose asks angrily.
"I didn't think about it like that."
"No, you were too busy thinking up cheap shots about the Deep South. Who are you, then, Doctor? What are you called? What sort of alien are you?" Rose then turns to me. "Did he kidnap you? Is he holding you hostage? Are you being forced to be his wife?" The Doctor was about to say something, but I stopped him.
"I chose to be with him. I will always choose the Doctor. You don't understand half of our relationship." I say. "And he's just the Doctor. That's all you need to know."
"From what planet?" Rose asks after a moment.
"It's not as if you'll know where it is." The Doctor says.
"Where are you from?"
"What does it matter?"
"Tell me who you are!" Rose exclaims.
"This is who I am, right here, right now, all right? All that counts is here and now, and this is me."
"Yeah, and I'm here too because you two brought me here, so just tell me."
"Earth death in twenty minutes. Earth death in twenty minutes." The intercom says. Rose pulls out her cell phone.
"Can't exactly call for a taxi. There's no signal. We're out of range just a bit."
"Tell you what." The Doctor says grabbing her phone and starting to take it apart. "With a little bit of jiggery pokery."
"Is that a technical term, jiggery pokery?" Rose asks.
"Yeah, I came first in jiggery pokery. What about you?"
"No, I failed hullabaloo." I stand up and move away from the two to look at the Earth. Why do I even try sometimes? I hear Rose talking to her mom, but I don't pay any attention to the conversation. I'm only pulled from my thoughts by the station shaking.
"That's not supposed to happen." The Doctor says running out of the room with Rose right behind him. I sigh and walk behind them. He didn't stop to call out to me to follow. I walk into a room to see the tree people and the Doctor and Rose talking. "That wasn't a gravity pocket. I know gravity pockets, and they don't feel like that. What do you think, Jabe? Listened to the engines. They've pitched up about thirty Hertz. That dodgy or what?"
"It's the sound of metal. It doesn't make any sense to me." Jabe says.
"Where's the engine room?"
"I don't know, but the maintenance duct is just behind our guest suite. i could show you, your wife, and concubine." Concubine? That really had my blood boiling. I don't even want to think about The Doctor being with anyone else. Plus who does she think is which. Does she think I'm the concubine?
"Kate is my wife, but Rose is just our friend." Good to know that the Doctor still thinks I'm his wife.
"You three go pollinate. I'm going to catch up with family. Quick word with Michael Jackson." Rose says leaving.
"Don't start a fight." The Doctor offers an arm to both me and Jabe. "I'm all yours." Even though I'm a little upset, I still take his arm.
"Earth death in fifteen minutes. Earth death in fifteen minutes." The voice on the intercom says. We walk into a maintenance room to check out what's going on.
"Who's in charge of Platform One? Is there a captain or what?" The Doctor asks as we walk in.
"There's just the Steward and the staff. All the rest is controlled by the metal mind." Jabe says.
"You mean the computer? But who controls that?"
"The Corporation. They move Platform One from one artistic even to another."
"But there's no one from the Corporation on board."
"They're not needed. This facility is purely automatic. It's the height of the Alpha class. Nothing can go wrong." If this is controlled by the Bad Wolf, which is me, then how am I affecting what's going on?
"Unsinkable?" I ask.
"If you like. The nautical metaphor is appropriate."
"You're telling me. Me and Kate were on board another ship once. They said that was unsinkable. We ended up clinging to an iceberg. It wasn't half cold. So, what you're saying is, if we get in trouble, there's no one to help us out?" The Doctor states.
"I'm afraid not."
"Fantastic." Me and the Doctor say.
"I don't understand. In what way is that fantastic?" This is going to be a long adventure. The Doctor went around checking the duct.
"So tell me, Jabe, what's a tree like you doing in a place like this?" The Doctor asks.
"Respect for the Earth."
"Oh, come on. Everyone on this platform's worth zillions."
"Well, perhaps it's a case of having to be seen at the right occasions."
"In case your share prices drop? I know you lot. You've got massive forests everywhere, roots everywhere, and there's always money in land."
"All the same, we respect the Earth as family. So many species evolved from that planet. Mankind is only one. I'm another. My ancestors were transplanted from the planet down below, and I'm a direct descendant of the tropical rainforest."
"Excuse me." The Doctor says as he scans a panel that says 'Welcome to Platform One. Guide of Platform One. Do you need assistance?'
"What's-" I start to ask the Doctor, but...
"And what about your ancestry, Doctor? Perhaps you could tell a story or two. Perhaps a man only enjoys trouble when there's nothing else left. I scanned you earlier. The metal machine had trouble identifying your species. It refused to admit your existence, and even when it named you, I wouldn't believe it. But it was right. I know where you're from. Forgive me for intruding, but it's remarkable that you even exist. I just wanted to say how sorry I am." Jabe says interrupting me. She puts a hand on the Doctor, and he puts a hand on hers. I could tell he was getting upset. I went to give him a hug, but he gets the door he was working on open. He goes inside once it does. Jabe follows closely. I sigh and follow inside feeling ignored. When we walk in, it's the catwalk room where I remember Jabe dies in. There's a bunch of fans everywhere. Yeah, I don't want to look down from here.
"Is it me, or is it a bit nippy?" The Doctor asks. "Fair do's, though, that's a great bit of air conditioning. Sort of nice and old fashioned. Bet they call it retro." He says going over to panel and starts to scan it. "Gotcha." He says pulling off the panel. A big spider thing scuttles out and up the wall next to it. "What the hell's that?" I stay where I am. I don't want that spider near me.
"Is it part of the retro?" Jabe asks.
"I don't think so. Hold on." The Doctor says pointing his screwdriver at the spider as Jabe lassoes it with one of her arms. I stand to the side useless. "Hey, nice liana."
"Thank you. We're not supposed to show them in public." Am I chopped liver. I'm his wife!
"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody. Now then, who's been bringing their pets on board?"
"What does it do?" I ask.
"Sabotage."
"Earth death in ten minutes." The intercom says again.
"And the temperature's about to rocket. Come on." The Doctor says as he walks down the catwalk.
"Earth death in ten minutes."
