Hey guys! I am back with another chapter of Through Time and Space! Guys I do a livestream every Thursday now starting at 9 Central Time. It's a lot of fun, and you never know what we'll talk about. Like last night me and one of my friends had an argument over who is better DC or Marvel. It's great. My YouTube is Kezekial. Anyways, I'm watching MasterChef Canada on YouTube. Enjoy the chapter!
The Macra Terror Part 3
I really wish I was back at the refreshing center getting a massage because now we have been led into Pilot's office possibly about to be put in the hospital with Medok. Hopefully, the Doctor can talk our way out of this.
"Ola requests audience immediately. Ola requests audience immediately." Ola says as we get to the door.
"Look I'm extremely busy. Unless this is a major crisis. I really don't-" The Pilot starts.
"Medok has been taken prisoner, and two of the strangers have been captured with him."
"Bring the strangers in." We were led inside.
"Good evening, Pilot. Oh, what a very nice office you have here." The Doctor says nonchalantly.
"Now what's this all about, Doctor, Kate?"
"Well, we-"
"We found the three of them in the new buildings, Pilot." Ola says.
"At night? How did they get there? Wasn't there a guard on their sleeping quarters?"
"All my guards were out looking for Medok, Pilot."
"I see. Very well, you may leave us, Ola. I will conduct the investigation myself." Ola leaves.
"Oh, forgive me. This is interesting. A telescopic viewing machine. I imagine you can keep track on the entire Colony from here and direct intercommunication between all parts. Very up to date, I imagine. Excellent, excellent, and what-"
"You don't seem to realize how serious business this is, Doctor. You have committed a crime." The Pilot says cutting off the Doctor.
"A crime?" The Doctor asks surprised.
"What were you doing with Medok? You know he's a dangerous man."
"I'm not so sure, Pilot." I say.
"You have already been told. He has refused to cooperate and to obey orders. He suffers from hallucinations."
"Ah, that's the point. Does he?" The Doctor asks.
"What exactly do you mean by that?"
"Let me perhaps explain." The intercom buzzes after he says that.
"What is it now? I've already said I don't want to be interrupted."
"Ola reporting, Pilot." Ola says over the intercom.
"Well, what is it?"
"Medok has made a statement. It completely changes the situation."
"Oh, very well. Bring him in."
"I hope you're not going to listen to everything that Medok tells you?" The Doctor asks. I look at him confused. I thought we were helping him.
"Why Doctor? Are you afraid of something he might say?"
"Well, in his state of mind he might say anything." Ola and Medok come in.
"Doctor, Kate. How have they been treating you?" Medok asks.
"Silence." Ola says.
"Perfectly all right, thank you." The Doctor says. I nod agreeing with the Doctor.
"Medok's made a further statement, Pilot. It's about the Doctor and Kate."
"Ah." The Pilot says.
"Ah." The Doctor repeats.
"Yes, Medok?" The Pilot asks.
"The Doctor and Kate weren't helping me. They were trying to make me give myself up." Medok says.
"Well, that was extremely brave. Why didn't you tell us this?" The Pilot asks turning to us.
"Well, as a matter of fact-"
"Captain Ola didn't give them a chance." Medok says cutting the Doctor off.
"I see. Well, it seems we owe you an apology, Doctor and Kate."
"It's better we tell the truth, Doctor, Kate."
"Yes, thank you, Medok. I quite understand." The Doctor says. I don't, but I trust the Doctor.
"Take him away." The Pilot says.
"Come on, Medock." Ola says leading Medock out.
"Well, I'm extremely sorry about it, Doctor and Kate, and of course, you're free to go."
"What will happen to Medok?" The Doctor asks.
"Oh, well, he'll be taken back to the hospital for correction. He'll be given another course of treatment, and when he returns to the Colony, Medok will be a changed man. He will cooperate, and he will obey orders. He'll be just like the rest of us."
"Why do you want everyone to be the same?"
"Doctor, this Colony was founded many centuries ago by our ancestors who came from the Earth planet, like your young friends. Our ancestors believed in the virtues of health happiness, and we have tried to keep their ideals alive. Sometimes, alas, it is necessary to use force." He presses a button on the intercom. "The Doctor and Kate will be returning to their quarters now."
"The Doctor's and Kate's escort is ready." A voice came back saying.
"Well, I'm sorry to have disturbed you, Doctor and Kate, and many thanks again for your help."
"Not at all. Thank you. Good night." The Doctor says as we walk to the door. The Doctor tries to open it, but it's locked.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Good night." The Pilot says pressing a button. The door was then unlocked, and we left. We are led back to the sleeping quarters, but we are left alone again. We go to Polly's cubicle to get her out of there. The Doctor looks around on a wall and finds a wire. He does something to it and makes it explode.
"Wake up, Polly." The Doctor says.
"Doctor? Kate? What on Earth are you doing?" Polly asks.
"I've been scotching a rumor, o should I say scorching."
"What happened?"
"Polly, I think you've been listening to some very bad advice."
"But I've been asleep."
"Yes, I know you have. Fast asleep. Very fast asleep. Polly, do you smell anything? A sort of sweet perfume?" Now that he mentions it, I smell it.
"No."
"Never mind. Now, Polly, I want you to forget everything that you've been dreaming."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well, it's just possible that you've been given a series of orders while you've been asleep. You know, do this, do that, do the other thing. My advice to you is don't do anything of the sort. Don't just be obedient. Always make up your own mind. What am I thinking of? Ben and Jamie!" The Doctor says running off. Me and Polly follow him to Jamie and Ben's cubicle. Ben wakes up when we get over to him.
"Hello, Doctor. Is it morning?" Ben asks waking up.
"No, not yet, but nearly so." The Doctor says.
"What are you up to?"
"Well, by my calculations, there should be a thin strand of wire in the wall here, like a nerve tapping the subconscious of the human brain."
"Lay off, mate. You'll find yourself on a charge."
"It should be here somewhere. Ah!" The Doctor says searching the wall.
"Pack it in, Doctor. The way you mess about you could do some damage."
"Better some damage than loss of will power."
"What are you on about? Look, get out of it. It's against the law."
"What law?"
"The law of the Colony. Don't do that!" He says as the Doctor does the same thing with the wire that he did with Polly's. "Now you'll get chucked in jail."
"What's the matter with you, Ben? Since when did you start to worry?" Polly asks.
"He thinks he knows best all the time, but this time he's wrong."
"Hey, what's all the noise?" Jamie asks joining us.
"Jamie, how did you sleep?" The Doctor asks.
"Oh, very badly, Doctor. I told Ben I kept hearing wee voices."
"That's a good sign. That means they haven't been able to get very deeply into your brain."
"Ay? I don't understand?"
"I'll show you. Watch this." The Doctor says doing the same to yet another wire.
"You're fools, all of you! And just look what you've done! You've smashed up all this equipment." Ben says.
"Yes, but look here. If they were trying to make us believe a whole load of rubbish-" Polly starts.
"Rubbish? It's not rubbish. Control knows what's best for us. They want us to cooperate. We should be helping."
"What's the matter with you, Ben? This doesn't sound like you at all."
"We should learn to obey. The Doctor's causing trouble. I'm going to turn him in." Ben says as he starts walking away.
"You don't know what you're doing, Ben." Jamie says stopping Ben.
"Get off me!"
"What's the matter with him?" Polly asks.
"I'm very much afraid I'm too late." The Doctor says.
"Ben!" Polly exclaims helping Jamie hold him back.
"Let go of me." Ben says.
"Ben!"
"Guards! Guards!" Ben yells.
"Don't let him go." I say.
"No, it's no use, Jamie." The Doctor says.
"But we cannot let him go, Doctor." Jamie says.
"You'll have to. Violence will get you nowhere." Jamie let's go of Ben, and Ben runs off.
"Doctor, he's going to go and tell the guards. We've got to get you out of here." Polly says.
"We can't leave Ben."
"But he's betrayed you." Jamie says.
"No, no, not Ben. He's not in control of his actions. He's been given a series of instructions, and he can't help himself."
"Yes, but he-" Polly starts.
"That's him! He prodded about in the wall and smashed up our equipment." Ben says coming back with Ola.
"This time we've got the evidence, and from one of your own friends. Come on, Doctor." Ola says.
"Leave him alone." Jamie says standing in front of the Doctor.
"Get out of my way. That's an order."
"I take orders from no one but the Doctor."
"All right, you're coming too. Get out, both of you!"
"Thank you, Jamie, but I'd better go with Captain Ola." The Doctor says.
"But Doctor, what will they do to you?" Polly asks.
"He should be in that hospital of yours." Ben says.
"You traitor, you." Jamie sneers.
"That's enough!" Ola leaves with the Doctor and Jamie.
"The hospital! He needs correction more than Medok does." Ben says. I roll my eyes.
"What did you do it for? The Doctor's our friend." Polly asks angrily.
"I had to do my duty."
"Well, you go on doing it, then. I'm going to go and find out where the others have gone." I say leaving the cubicle.
"Look, Kate, you'd better stay here."
"Report me, I dare you." I say continuing on my way. Polly runs up and joins me.
"Now look. Come back, Kate, Polly. Kate? Polly?" Ben asks running after us. We make our way to the building site when we lose Ben. "Polly? Kate? Where are you? Kate? Polly? You'll be in trouble. Don't fool about, ladies. You must obey Control. Kate? Polly? Stop!" Ben says finding us again.
"Leave us alone!" Polly exclaims.
"You're coming back to the guard."
"What's the matter with you, Ben? Wake up!" Polly yells.
"You're coming with me, girl. You broke the Colony law." Ben says grabbing Polly. She screams. "What's the matter with you?"
"There." She says pointing to something. Oh crap there's the creature. It disappears as quickly as it appeared.
"There's nothing there." Ben says looking.
"But there was. I saw it. A huge face, like an insect or a giant crab. It was horrible, and it was looking at us. And it had claws. Claws like we saw on the time scanner."
"There's nothing there. Come on." Ben says pulling on Polly.
"No, not that way." I say pushing Ben a little bit. He still doesn't let go of Polly.
"Look, you're just trying to dodge off."
"No, no, please, I'm not. But please look."
"There is nothing there!"
"Ben." I say just as the creature appears again. This time there is no denying it.
"What is it?" Polly asks.
"I don't know." I say.
"Well, what are we going to do?" Polly asks.
"There is nothing evil or harmful in this colony." Ben says.
"How can you believe that stuff?"
"It stands to reason. It's safe. There is nothing here!" Just then a claw grabs me, and i scream. Polly and Ben try to hit it, but it doesn't let go of me.
"Ben, what is this? We have to help Kate, Ben!" Polly says. Eventually for some reason the creature let's go of me and leaves. Ow. "Kate! Are you okay?" Polly asks coming over to me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. A little bruised but I'm fine.
"It's all right. I think it's going away." Ben says.
"Let's go inside. Ben, behind you! There's another one! Ben, they're all around us!" Polly yells.
"Look, Polly, you make a run for it, and I'll keep them here."
"No, you won't stand a chance." Polly says.
"Ben, don't do this." I say.
"We can't stop here. Come on, quick!" He takes us to the guards, and of course, they take us to the Pilot. I couldn't do much since I was still sore from the creatures.
"Pilot!" Ola exclaims when we get to the office.
"What is it?" We hear the Pilot say.
"It's the young man who reported the Doctor, Pilot."
"What about him?"
"He has another report, Pilot, an urgent one."
"Very well, Ola, you may leave. I will deal with it." We enter the office.
"Who are you stabbing the back this time?" Jamie asks.
"Kate?" The Doctor instantly notices my pain. "Kate? What's the matter?" He asks coming up to me.
"Doctor, it was the crab. It got a hold of me. They got me free." I say.
"Ben did?" Jamie asks.
"He was nearly killed himself."
"Silence. Did you protect the girl from such creatures?" The Pilot asks.
"Yes." Polly says.
"The girls ran away. I went after them." Ben says.
"Did you protect her and were there such creatures?"
"No. There were no such creatures."
"Ben!" Polly exclaims.
"There are no such things as Macra."
"But you saw them!"
"There were no such creatures! There are no such things as Macra!"
"Don't blame him, Polly." The Doctor says.
"But you heard him." I say.
"I told you. Ben has come under control of the evil forces at the heart of this colony."
"That is quite untrue. Control always acts for the best." The Pilot says.
"Who is Control?"
"You've seen our Controller."
"Have I? I don't remember."
"Well, switch on then. We've nothing to hide."
"Controller speaking. We know everything that's happened. These two poor girls have had hallucination." Control says.
"That's not the Controller. That's just a picture of a man." Jamie says.
"It is the picture of our Controller." The Pilot says.
"Well, where is he? I'll wager he doesn't exist."
"Of course he does."
"Well, let's see him then."
"That's not necessary."
"Well, I don't believe he's there."
"Of course he is. You've heard his voice."
"Why don't you show them to us then?" The Doctor asks.
"Well, all right, if you wish, I'll ask. As you can hear, Control, they ask to see you in person."
"That set the cat among the pigeons."
"They've not got him there." Jamie says.
"This is your Controller. This is your Controller." Control says as an old man comes on screen.
"But he's an old man."
"Well, now you've seen the Controller."
"Well, let him speak."
"Be silent! That is an order!"
"Let him speak." Polly says.
"Be silent!" The Pilot says.
"Ah, he's not giving the orders. He can't talk." Jamie says.
"This is the man. You will hear him speak. Speak, Controller, speak!" Control says.
"Speak? Am I to speak?" The voice of the actual man says.
"Tell the strangers to believe and obey!"
"I will tell them. I will tell them. I'll do what you say." Pause. "Keep away. Don't touch me. I'll obey."
"What's that? What's happening?" Jamie asks. A claw then comes out and drags the man away.
"Doctor, that was it. That thing in the picture. That was the claw! They're in control." Polly says.
"Take them out of here. They're condemned to the pits." The Pilot says.
"Come on. Get out, all of you. Out! Get out!" Ola says taking us away except Ben. We are taken to the entrance of the pit. I finally understand what the music says.
It says: "We are all happy to work. We are all happy to work. For the good of the Colony. Happy to work. Happy to work."
"Oh!" The Doctor says as we approach the entrance.
"What's the matter?" Polly asks.
"Dreadful. Did you hear that rhyme? The man who wrote that ought to be sent to the Danger Gang, not us."
"All right. That's enough." Ola says.
"Ah, are these the four strangers?" The Official says.
"Yes."
"Yes, you might call us that." The Doctor says.
"They've been allocated 176 shift."
"Oh, very good, Ola. I'll recall the shift leader." The Official says. He goes over to another man.
"What an extremely remarkable place. What efficiency. Whatever do you make?" The Doctor asks.
"Silence." Ola says.
"I thought this was a mine, you know, where you dig up coal?" Jamie asks.
"Ah, yes, but here, you see, the rock foundation is a type of salt. Now at depths it generates gases, over the years, and these gases re extremely valuable." The Official says.
"Don't bother to explain to them. Just get them to work." Ola says.
"Aye. Well, you don't send lassies and an old man down to dig." Jamie says.
"Old? What do you mean old? I'm not old, Jamie." The Doctor says.
"You'll do as you're ordered." Ola says.
"Here's the leader of their shift, sir." The Official says.
"Very well. Report any irregularities to me." Ola says leaving. We are led further in when we see Medok.
"Medok! How did you get here?" Jamie asks.
"They threw me out of the correction hospital. Apparently, I'm a hopeless case." Medok says.
"But why did they send you here?" Polly asks.
"The one remaining punishment they could think of: to work in the Danger Gang for life."
"For life?" Jamie asks.
"Oh, don't worry, you won't survive long in this atmosphere. It's the gas. It gets everywhere. It creeps into your lung, and when you're down there, you're right in the thick of it."
"Come on, Medok. Take them to their work." The Official says.
"What's the hurry?"
"You don't want me to call the guard, do you?"
"All right, all right, we're going, but we are entitled to a supervisor on this shift."
"Oh, yes, that's true."
"Yes. Well, I'm leaving this man."
"Hmm? Oh, well, yes. I suppose that's all right."
"But it's much safer up here. Isn't it, Medok?" The Doctor asks.
"It is." Medok says.
"Ah, I see. I'm perfectly capable of working in the pit, thank you. Polly can have the safe job." That surprises me a little bit. I'm more than happy to be down there with him, but he usually has me far away.
"Oh no, you stay up here, Doctor. I wouldn't know what to do." Polly says.
"Well, I'm not sure I understand all this machinery myself."
"Do you not think you might make better use of the opportunity, Doctor?" Jamie asks.
"What do you mean? Oh, yes. Oh, yes. Yes, I'll be supervisor."
"What was all that?" The Official asks.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing."
"Come on, you three."
"Oh, you're going to issue them with masks, aren't you? You aren't taking them down there without any protection?" Medok asks.
"Surely you could have seen to that? Oh, here. You'd better take this checklist." The Official says handing him a clipboard.
"But would have liked a mask." The Doctor says. We are led down a shaft leaving the Doctor up there. We get to a point where equipment are being held and put them on.
"Hurry up. Put on your equipment." The Official says.
"You shouldn't make lassies do the work of men." Jamie says.
"The Danger Gang will do as they are told. It's a punishment for their failure to cooperate."
"We do all the dirty work. We go where the gas is worst." Medok says.
"It's your own fault, Medok. If you obeyed Control-"
"All right. All right. Forget it. I prefer Control poisoning my lungs to their trying to poison my mind." Medok says cutting the Official off. Just then an alarm went off.
"What's that?" Polly asks.
"It's a gas strike."
"Go on. Help with the cable there. Go on, hurry up. That's the alarm. The gas is lethal." The Official says.
"What does he mean?" Jamie asks as we get to work.
"He means they've struck so much gas they can't channel it off. When it reaches a certain density, that alarm bell goes." Medok says.
"Hurry up! Get that cable to the strike." The Official says.
"Come on, quickly." Medok says.
"Quickly. Come on. Pull there. Pull, all of you. Pull! Pull!" This wasn't good on my body after being attacked, and I fall down.
"Kate!" I hear Jamie exclaim. That was the last thing I remember.
To Be Continued...
Well, there you guys go! This was going to be a much longer chapter, but I found a good place to stop. This is probably going to be still pretty long.
