Hey guys! I am back with another chapter of Through Time and Space: Bad Wolf. This may be the last part of the storyline. We'll see. There's still a lot left. Anyways, I'm watching Scream: The Inside Story. Enjoy the chapter!

Macra Terror Part 5

It was a game of The Doctor versus the official. It was nerve-racking and interesting to see all at the same time.

"Retain full pressure." Control says.

"Full pressure is being maintained on master control. Reserves are standing by." Official says.

"Let me see. Let me see." The Doctor says.

"Doctor, what is going on with Jamie and Polly?" I ask.

"I hate to think. It won't be anything very pleasant. Kate, go and see what the first dial on the control desk registers."

"Right." I say nodding my head and going over.

"Hurry up." It was difficult with the official blocking my way. I needed to do this stealthily.

"Full pressure." I say coming back over.

"Full pressure, and the other one?" I ran back over. "Come on."

"Zero." I say running back.

"Zero. Now I think there's only one thing for it. Plus must be made minus, and minus must be made plus."

"What's wrong?"

"The question is: which is plus and which is minus?"

"Oh." The Doctor then goes over and starts tapping on the pipes. I would be doing it to if I knew which was which.

"What are you doing?" The official asks.

"Oh, just checking." The Doctor says nonchalantly.

"Well, I don't need your help, thank you."

"As you please, but I think you're going to run into trouble."

"Why? What's the matter?"

"Well, according to my calculations, the pressure gauges are wrong."

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Ridiculous? Well, that's as may be. But, after all, three time three is nine, and if you divide by half of it own cubic capacity to the formula Pi over four squared, I think you'll have to agree with me." The Doctor says going over to a different pipe.

"Don't touch that."

"Why not?"

"That controls the inflow system."

"Oh, so these are the inflow pipes, are they? That's all I wanted to know."

"But what are you doing?"

"Inflow...inflow...outflow...inflow...high pressure...low pressure...low pressure an spells out."

"Doctor, what are you doing?" I ask going over to him.

"It's all right, Kate, confusion is best left to the experts." What?

"But stop it. You've no idea what you're doing." The official exclaims.

"Oh yes, I have. I can stand an operation on its head quicker than anyone. There! I think you'll find I've revolutionized the entire gas flow of the Colony." The Doctor says stopping his tapping.

"You must be mad. You'll be locked up."

"Kate, see what those dials register now." I go over to the board to see they were different.

"Right, Doctor, something's happened to this one." I say.

"What does it read?"

"It reads zero."

"And the other one?"

"Full pressure."

"Good. Splendid. That means there'll be a fine old gale of fresh air blowing along the old shaft any time now."

"You can do nothing. You'll only delay matters. It's a simple matter for me to reconnect the gas." The official says.

"Yes, I'm sure it is, but I'm sure you'd like a little help."

"Now stop that. You've enough to answer for already. Guard! Guard!" The official says into his communication device.

"It's all right, Kate, I've got his keys. Lock the door." I go over and lock the door immediately.

"Send the guard, immediately!"

"They're bound to get in sooner or later." I say.

"Yes, well, the later the better. The only thing we can do for Jamie now is give him time."

"This is Control. Why has the outflow of gas stopped? Gas must be pumped into the old shaft without interruption. Being pumping immediately." Control says.

"I need help immediately. The strangers obey nothing. They are turning taps in the wrong direction." The official says.

"Guards have been detailed to assist you."

"Open up in there!" Ola says through the door.

"The key. My keys. Where are my keys?" The official asks patting his pockets.

"Oh, dear. Your keys. Try in your pocket or on the gantry or over there." The Doctor suggests.

"Look, I know you've got them."

"Doctor, the door." I say noticing the guards trying to break open the door.

"Open up in there or we'll smash it in." Ola says.

"It's going to give way."

"Come on, Kate. Let's get out of here." The Doctor says grabbing my hand and pulls me towards where we went down into the pit.

"No, not that way. That goes to the pits. This way." I say pulling him a different direction. We try the door, but it is locked.

"It's locked."

"Use the keys! Quickly!" He pulls out the keys and unlocks the door. We start locking the door, but it's being difficult.

"Kate, you gotta push!"

"Okay." I say trying to push, but the door was seriously heavy. "I don't know if I can."

"You've got to. Come on, together. I've nearly got it locked. There we are." The Doctor says finally getting it locked.

"Where are we?" I ask looking around the room. It was filled with pipes.

"Well, it looks rather like a cupboard with a lot of pipes."

"Where do think they lead?"

"They must lead somewhere. Let's have a look." We start following the pipes.

"Doctor, I think they carry the poisonous gas."

"Yes, very likely."

"Shouldn't we stay here then?"

"Stay here? I love you Kate, but I do not want to spend the rest of my life with a lot of old pipes."

"But..."

"Now, come along Kate. I'm sure there's no need to be afraid. Well...well, I think there's no need to be afraid." I don't move. "Oh, come on. Let's find out." He says taking my hand and leads me forward. I trust him.

"No permission for the guards to go on forbidden ground. Repeat, no permission. They are not to cover the exit to the old shaft. This is in use at this moment by Control. No one is to go near the old shaft." Control says. The Doctor puts a hand out in front of me to stop me.

"Shh, I hear voices. Very faint." I strain to hear anything, but I don't.

"I don't hear anything." I whisper.

"Stay here a minute, Kate."

"Don't leave me."

"The search for the other strangers must be carried on." Control says.

"It's the Controller. The voice behind the screen." I say following the Doctor anyways back to the old shaft.

"All guards are detailed to hunt for the Doctor and his wife. They must be taken dead or alive." The first one sounds better, but I'd rather not be taken.

"He must be there." We get to a ladder and climb up a hole, which leads us to a place where we can look into the control room.

"This is Control. The day shift is to begin work in the emergency gas shaft. All pressures are to be maintained. The Colony cannot live without gas." Control says. After he says that, we go into the pipe room again.

"So that's where all the gas goes." I say.

"Yes, just as I thought. These creatures would die without it."

"But how long have they been there? I mean, they weren't always in control, were they?"

"I couldn't tell you when they were here in the first place, Kate. They're like germs in the human body. They've got into the body of this colony. They're living as parasites."

"You make it sound like a disease."

"Kate, that's what I think they are."

"They're in the control room. It must be like getting into the brain, right?"

"Yes, very likely." He claps his hands together. "Now then. One system must provide them with the gas they need, and the other one must be an outflow."

"We've got to bring the Pilot here, and then we can show him these creatures really do exist."

"Yes, Kate. I think it might work." We somehow get back to Pilot's office without being stopped by anyone. Where are the guards? We burst in to see Pilot, Ola, Jamie, Polly, and Ben. "Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Well, everyone is up bright and early, and the last two strangers are not missing after all. Oh, come now. We can't have bad temper and differences of opinion in this happy type colony. Say you're sorry, Ola. Say you're sorry, Pilot." The Doctor says almost sarcastically.

"Doctor, what did ye come here for? You've walked into a trap." Jamie says.

"Good morning, Jamie and Polly. It's nice to see you so well cared for."

"Yes, but Doctor-"

"Oh, it's all right. I've just come in to have a word with my old friend, the Pilot. Good morning, Ben. I hope you're feeling more your old self?"

"Yes, Doctor I am." Ben says.

"Why did not your guards arrest these strangers?" Pilot asks.

"I don't know. Guards, arrest them." Ola says.

"That is no longer necessary."

"Of course not. You can't arrest us now we've given ourselves up. That's against the rules." The Doctor says.

"Now, you wish to see me?"

"Yes, I do, urgently. Come with me." The Doctor says gesturing out.

"This is Control. Everyone is to return to work immediately. This order includes all executives. It includes the Pilot. Everyone back to work immediately." Control says. They're getting scared.

"Well, I shall have to go." The Pilot says.

"No, wait. You must listen to what the Doctor's got to tell you. They're only saying that because they know what we've seen." I say.

"At once!" Control yells.

"Pilot." The Doctor says.

"At once! That is an order!"

"Don't take any notice of them. That's not your Controller. Those are your enemies." I say.

"There must be no discussion with the strangers!"

"Why not?" Polly asks.

"Aye, what are you afraid of?" Jamie asks.

"Arrest the strangers! That is an order! All the strangers!" Control yells again. I can tell they're getting more desperate.

"That doesn't sound like a man in control." Ben states.

"What did you wish to tell me?" Pilot asks. We're winning.

"Pilot, you head Control. Guards, take them all away." Ola says.

"I am still the Pilot here. You will take your orders from me. Get back to your quarters."

"Contact Control immediately. Report the Pilot!" Ola exclaims.

"That was a very brave thing to do." The Doctor says as we walk out of the office and start heading back to the pit.

"Or very foolish. What is it you wanted to tell me?" Pilot asks.

"Come with me."

"Pilot!" Ola yells. Pilot turns to look at them.

"You will all remain here." Pilot says. I follow the Doctor and Pilot out, but Ben, Jamie, and Polly stay behind. We get to the pithead without any troubles. "But, Doctor, this is forbidden territory."

"Yes and you'll soon see why." The Doctor says as we head toward the pipe room.

"Stop! Stop! You're breaking the law!" Pilot says following us.

"Bad laws were made to be broken. Follow us."

"But-" He keeps following us even though he's nervous, and we get into the pipe room. "I really don't know why I trust you, Doctor." Pilot says.

"Oh, perhaps I've got an honest face." The Doctor says.

"The Pilot is to be arrested! This is a happy Colony! All must obey!" Control says.

"Did you hear that?" Pilot asks.

"Don't give up now. It's just up here." The Doctor says as we climb the ladder we climbed earlier.

"All guards to report to the pit head. They are to take orders from Ola. Is this understood?" Control says. We look through the hole again to see the Macra.

"There you are. That's what's taken over this Colony. You haven't been in touch with Control but with these. They've used this Colony for their own ends, destroying you to live themselves." The Doctor says.

"Why, they're horrible. No, Doctor and Kate. It is they who must be destroyed. We must kill them." Pilot says.

"They're here!" Control says.

"Let's go." I say.

"The Pilot and two strangers! In forbidden territory! They must be destroyed!"

"What are they, Doctor? I mean, some monstrous form of bacteria? Insects? Or what?" Pilot asks.

"I don't know, but you must fight them." The Doctor says.

"How?"

"Take full command!"

"You mean defy Control?"

"Well, you see what Control really is."

"Yes, you're right, Kate, Doctor. They must be destroyed." We made it back to the pithead to find everyone, except Ben, waiting for us.

"We've been waiting for you." Ola says.

"Ola, the Colony is in the hands of grotesque insects!"

"So you've been seeing things?"

"They're in there. The Macra!"

"You know what happens to people that say that."

"But I-"

"Now we can deal with you all together."

"Did the Pilot see them?" Polly asks.

"Yes, I saw the Macra." Pilot says.

"It is forbidden to say that. Don't let him say that he has seen Macra!" Control yells.

"I saw you! You are the Macra!"

"Silence! Silence the four strangers! That is an order!"

"What shall we do with them, Control?" Ola asks.

"Return them to the pipe room. The four strangers and the Pilot. They are to locked in, and you will not let them out."

"Come on, get in." Ola says as they start shoving us into the pipe room.

"Ola." Pilot says.

"Doctor!" I exclaim in slight pain because there is so much pushing that they're hitting my sides.

"Come on, you heard Control. Get in." Ola says.

"You'll suffer for this. You wait and see." Pilot says.

"Don't worry Kate, I'll look after you." Jamie says trying to get over to me.

"No!" Polly yells.

"Take your hands off of them." Jamie says trying to punch people, but we are still shoved into the pipe room.

"Get in!" Ola yells as they lock us in.

"You have done well, Ola." I hear Control say through the door.

"What instructions, Control?"

"Clear the building. Guards and workers are to return to the hall of music."

"I obey, Control."

"It will take precisely four minutes, and then it will be safe for everyone to return to work. Four minutes." That was the last thing I heard from the other side of the door. Everyone is just standing around not knowing what to do.

"Why four minutes?" I ask.

"Aye, what can they do in four minutes, Doctor?" Jamie asks.

"I don't know. We must be ready for anything." The Doctor says as he starts searching the room.

"It's the gas! It's coming in here." Yep, I'm definitely feeling the effects of that.

"Pilot, do you know where it's coming from?"

"Why, no. I've never been here before." Everyone goes around and searches, but the pain in my side was getting to be too much.

"There must be a hidden inlet."

"You will not be able to fight it. You cannot stop it." Control says.

"Doctor, I'm not feeling good." I say. He comes over and hands me a cloth.

"Kate, hold that in front of your mouth." I nod and do as he says. It helps a little.

"It's coming from over here, Doctor!" Jamie says from where he is.

"I think you're right, Jamie."

"It's coming from here as well!" Pilot says from where he is.

"You are unable to stop it." I had to lean against the door. I slid down to the ground the pain was too much.

"Kate!" Doctor exclaims.

"It will not last long. Only for four minutes. By that time you-"

"Let us out! Let us out!" Polly yells.

"Will be completely helpless. Not quite dead but helpless." Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Hello in there." A voice says.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"Ben." The Doctor comes over to the door.

"Ben? Is that you? Are you all right?" The Doctor asks.

"Can you open the door from your side?"

"No."

"But it's locked. There isn't a key."

"Ben, listen. We've got very little time. It's all up to you."

"Go ahead, Doctor. Tell me what to do."

"Go to the control desk, and you'll see two switches: one marked outflow and one marked inflow."

"Hang on."

"The other stranger has recovered. He is now dangerous! He will no longer obey Control. The fourth stranger is trying to help his friends. He is no longer one of us. He must be stopped at once!" Control says.

"I've got them, Doc. Two switches. What next?"

"Good. You see a lever in front of them?"

"Yeah."

"It is forbidden to touch that instrument! You must not obey the Doctor! You will kill us all! He intends to create an explosion!" Control yells. "Come away from those instruments! You will destroy the Colony!"

"Oh, shut up. Okay, Doctor. Fire away."

"Guards! Stop the strangers!"

"Switch on both inflow and outflow."

"No! Stop! The pressure will be unbearable! Oh, for human beings as well."

"Switch them on, Ben. Then stand by to throw the lever." The Doctor says.

"You are to give no such order!"

"Inflow on. Outflow on. Okay, Doc. Ready with the lever." Ben says. There was some banging. "Quickly, Doctor!"

"Throw the lever away from you." The Doctor says.

"No! No! Don't let him!" Control yells. As he says that, there were explosions. We were soon let out of the pipe room, and we went into the music hall for some partying. I don't do a whole lot of dancing because of my sides, but there was a waltz that me and the Doctor danced together for.

"Now, my first duty is to thank the strangers for they have saved our Colony." The Pilot says at the podium. "A dance festival will be held every year in their memory, and the winners will be awarded the Strangers' Trophy." A dance festival? That's pretty awesome. Ben, Polly, and Jamie come over to us.

"Relax. Relax. More haste, more waste. Pleasure is beautiful." The Doctor says.

"Relax? You wait till you hear what they're going to do with you." Ben says.

"Oh, well."

"Yeah, I just heard it on the grapevine. They're going to draft us as members of the Colony and make you the next Pilot."

"They can't do that to me. Let's get out of here."

"Yes, but how?" Ben asks.

"Take a leaf out of Jamie's book. Give them the old dance routine." We dance our way out and back to the Tardis. Me and the Doctor waltzed all the way back and just as he dips me I start glowing. He gives me a kiss on the forehead and spins me. When I open my eyes, I'm in a different Tardis.
