Hey guys! I am back with another chapter of Through Time and Space: Bad Wolf! So, I had job orientation last night and am starting next week! 2 jobs and plans to go to Atlanta WSC make me very happy! It's going to be great! Anyways, I'm watching FoundFlix on Youtube. Enjoy the chapter!
Snakedance Part 2
The bodyguards drag me and the Doctor in front of the three men who were talking.
"There's no need for this." The Doctor says.
"This is a private view. You have no business to be here. Have them thrown out." The shorter less regal man says.
"Wait, at least let the man have his say." The more regal dressed man says.
"Why, my Lord? The man's clearly deranged."
"Is he?"
"Of course he is."
"Lon, I really think the Director should deal with this." The third man says.
"Director? Director of what?" The Doctor asks.
"Research effort into the Sumaran era." The first man says.
"Are you indeed? Then you may be able to help."
"I think not. Throw them out."
"Just a moment, Ambril. It has been suggested that I take more interest in our legends. Release them." The lord says. The bodyguards let go of us. "And where, according to you, is the Mara now?"
"At present it exists as a latent mental force in the mind of my companion." The men look at me. "Oh, not her! Another one of my companions."
"Does it."
"It's using her dreams to increase its power. Eventually it will take over her mind altogether, but I've put together a device to inhibit this temporarily."
"Oh, how very resourceful."
"Why don't you come and meet her? She's outside."
"My Lord, I must insist-" Ambril starts.
"Very well, show us." The lord says.
"Certainly, follow us." The Doctor says as we lead the group out of the cave. We walk outside to see that only Nyssa is out there. Where's Tegan? "Nyssa!" The Doctor exclaims noticing Tegan isn't there as well.
"Is this your companion?" Ambril asks.
"Nyssa, what's the matter?" She did look out of breath like she had just been running.
"Doctor, she's gone." Nyssa says.
"What!"
"She's gone, apparently." The lord says.
"Where?" The Doctor asks.
"She took fright. It all happened so quickly."
"You've disappointed me, Doctor. I should have you punished." The lord says.
"Come on." The Doctor says taking off. Me and Nyssa follow him to the marketplace. No one followed us, so I guess they're letting us go. "Oh, this is hopeless. What state was she in?" The Doctor asks stopping in the marketplace after looking around for a while.
"Terrified." Nyssa says.
"Well, let's go back to the Tardis. She might try and find her way back there." We nod our heads and head back to the Tardis to find Tegan. We went inside and split up, but the three of us couldn't find Tegan. She wasn't here.
"Where can she be?" Nyssa asks as we meet up in the console room.
"Well, as long as she's wearing the anti-dream device she should be safe." The Doctor says.
"And if she's not?" I ask.
"I don't know. I just don't know. Why has the Mara returned? Why now, after so long? What does it want?" We looked around in books and on the console to see if we could find some kind of reason for the Mara to be back. "We don't know nearly enough. Without more information, we are simply blundering around in the dark."
"The Tardis databanks?" Nyssa asks.
"No, no, no. This is the Mara's homeworld. The answers we need are out there. I'll try the Director of the Research Institute, and you two look for Tegan in the market. We'll meet back here."
"Right." Nyssa says. We go back outside and start searching. We go around and ask people about Tegan, but no one seems to have seen her. "Well, thank you anyway." We were about to leave when there was a tap on our shoulders. We turn and see Tegan!
"Tegan!" Me and Nyssa exclaim.
"Come to see the fun?" Tegan asks. We look at her confused.
"The fun?" Nyssa asks.
"Yes, she's still in there. She screamed and screamed."
"Are you all right? Where've you been?"
"I'm fine. Why shouldn't I be?"
"You're not wearing the anti-dreaming device." I say.
"I took it off. It wasn't necessary."
"Tegan, what about the Mara?" Nyssa asks.
"Stop fussing. What Mara? Look, here she is. Quick, she mustn't see me." Tegan crouches down beside us as we see a fortune teller looking lady being led away by two men. "You should have seen her face. It was so funny. When she screamed, you could see right down her throat."
"Tegan, what's the matter with you? What's been going on? Tegan, look at us." Nyssa says obviously freaking out.
"Nyssa, help me. Help me. I made it appear." Tegan says in a different voice.
"What?"
"You fool. Leave me alone. Just leave me alone." Tegan says in her darker voice again.
"Tegan!" We chase Tegan around the marketplace till we go into the Hall of Mirrors. We go around a while, but we lose her in there. We go outside and decide to investigate the Fortune Teller's booth. We head there and go inside. "Hello?" Nyssa asks as we go in. There's remnants of a crystal ball on the table. I look down as I almost step on the anti-dream device Tegan had. I pick it up and continue looking around. There's not much to find beside the remnants and the device. We walk out to the Doctor running towards us.
"Kate! Nyssa!" He yells running over to us. He goes inside the booth and looks around."
"We saw Tegan and spoke to her." Nyssa says.
"Well, where is she now?"
"She ran away from us. We lost her in the crowd, but Doctor, look." I say showing him Tegan's device. "She was behaving differently."
"Was she marked?"
"I don't-" I start to say.
"On her arm. The mark of the snake."
"I didn't see anything." Nyssa nods her head in agreement.
"It must be the Mara. Come on." He leads us back to the cave. "Come on." He says running on inside. Nyssa and I were having to hurry to keep up.
"Why are we here?" Nyssa asks.
"Facts, Nyssa, facts. There's something I noticed before. I need to take another look." We go in further to the tunnel to the big chamber.
"At what?"
"The pictograms. There's a ceremony taking place commemorating the supposed destruction of the Mara."
"So?" I ask.
"The Mara's waited a long time for this return. I think it plans to be spectacular." We go along till we find the pictogram he was talking about. "There! Now look. What do you make of that? There in the center." He points to what seems like a crystal? "Could that represent the Great Crystal?"
"Could do." Nyssa says.
"And these line from the center, energy of some sort?" Sure looks like it.
"Mental energy."
"What?" The Doctor asks.
"Well, presumably. The lines go to the heads of the figures." Nyssa says pointing out what she was getting at.
"Hmm. Minds meet in the Great Crystal, but what are these? Now, everything in this pictogram tells us something if we know how to read it, so what are these?" He looks at the pictogram for a little longer before taking off to the chamber. Me and Nyssa are surprised and follow after him.
"Doctor!" We yell after him.
"Hmm?" He asks as he stops.
"If the Great Crystal of the Legend ever really existed, then logically there is where it would have fitted." Nyssa says. The Doctor continues to just look around the room for a while. Nyssa and I just stand there confused not really sure what to look for.
"Obvious." He says after a moment.
"What is?" I ask. Am I supposed to know what's happening. I'm barely keeping up.
"The Great Crystal, the Great Mind's Eye. That's the clue! The lines do represent the flow of mental energy, but not going to the individual figures, coming from them."
"And meeting in the Great Crystal." Nyssa says. The Doctor starts going back down the tunnel.
"Just as a lens focuses the rays of the sun, the Great Mind's Eye gathered all the individual thought energies and concentrated them, amplified them, and redirected them there."
"But it's blank. It's been scratched out!" Nyssa exclaims.
