Steph's Decision Chapter 5

After Rex was buried Tank, Ranger and Steph went inside to discuss the situation. All three of them sat down at Tank's table. "Are there any updates at all Tank?" Ranger asked his friend and business partner.

"No there are no updates, we are still working and will find out something we just need more time." Tank told Ranger. Ranger then looked around the kitchen and told Stephanie

"I' don't think we should be here Babe, I know a place where we can go. I think that would be safer there."

"Ranger, where else could we go to the Bat Cave?" She replied to her.

"Yes, but I don't consider it my Bat Cave, I consider it my home." He stated to her.

"Sorry," she said.

"It is okay." Ranger told her, and then got up and put his arms around her.

Just then they heard a meow and a small black and white cat came up to Stephanie and started to rub against her legs.

She picked up the small cat, "Does he have a name?"

"No I just found him outside in my back yard. He likes you, he is not that fond of me though." Tank answered her. He picked the cat up and gave her to Stephanie to hold.

She was holding the kitten that was licking her cheek. "Ranger, can we keep him, please?"

He lowered his head, and sighed. "Tank is he litter trained?"

"Yes, boss he is." Tank smiled a huge grin.

"Babe"

"Yes, you are mine I will name you Tux." The kitten meowed.

All of a sudden there was a loud bang. Ranger went to the window that was over Tank's sink and saw that his SUV was in flames.

"Well there goes another car. Tank call 911" Ranger turned his head and he wondered if it was fair to asked Stephanie to do this with him.

"I know what you are thinking and I am still marrying you I love you Ranger." Stephanie answered his question that he was thinking.

Stephanie walked to the guest room with the Tux in her arms still went to lay down, and after a few minutes Tank and Ranger could hear her snoring. Ranger walked to the guest room and looked around, he saw a fireplace that looked like it had seen better days. He looked at the walls and saw that they were painted in a cream color. He took a look at the guest bathroom and saw a toilet and sink on one side. The shower looked huge; it had to be because Tank lived here he thought. He then looked at Steph who was sleeping soundly decided that he needed to try to get some sleep too. So he took off his clothes and joined her in bed.

Stephanie woke up the next morning and tried to remember what had happened last night.

She saw Ranger lying next to her, and she still saw his arm in a sling. She remembered that this was Tank's place; Tux came up to her and started to paw at her to get her up. She got up and changed into the clothes that she had last night. She went out of the room and let Ranger sleep.

"Good morning" Tank told her, and then added "Do you want some breakfast, I called Ella and she brought some food over."

Stephanie looked at the kitchen table and saw some cereal and fruit. She took a bowl poured some cereal put some strawberries with some milk. She was eating when Ranger came out in his boxers. He looked at her gave her a kiss and had a smoothie.

"Tank I am going to use your landline, so I can call my brother so he can pick Babe and myself up so we can go to my house. When I get home I am going to call the insurance company so we can get the process underway to rebuild Haywood again." Ranger looked at Tank.

"Sounds like a plan" Tank replied.

Ranger picked up the landline that was in the living room. He looked around the living room and saw the couch in front a table that had the landline on it. He noticed the love seat opposite the couch and then another table in front of the couch. He also noticed the fireplace and above the fireplace was a sixty inch flat screen TV.

After a few moments Ranger's brother picked up the phone.

"Hey it's me is there a chance you can pick me and my girl up at Tank's? I have no car and need to go home back to my house so I can get to work."

"Sure thing Carlos, I will be over in ten minutes." Abel told him.

Ranger walked back into the kitchen, and told everyone what was going on. "My brother Abel will be here in Ten Minutes. We will go to PetSmart to get some stuff for Tux. Bring him to his new home then we will go get Stephanie's car at her apartment and go clothes shopping. After that the work begins and we call the insurance company so we can rebuild Haywood."

"Sounds good to me" Stephanie replied then walked into Ranger's arms so he could hold her for a few minutes.
