(Guess what? Only a two month wait this time! Yay! So, I just finished Arkham Origins and I feel as if I have gained so much inspiration from that! Hopefully this inspiration stays with me. Enjoy! Thanks for sticking with me and my horrible updating. You're the best!)
Chapter 6
My eyes were like saucers as I stared at him, afraid to move. This only caused him to chuckle deeper. He stood up from his desk. If you managed to not stare at his face for long enough, you would notice his nicely pressed suit. Custom made I assume. His shiny shoes were made of the finest leather. Otherwise he was an average guy, with an average build. You wouldn't think he's one of the top crime lords in Gotham. Sarina, you dummy! How'd you get yourself into this situation? Alright, no time for blonde moments. I needed to act; now!
"Have a seat." He said, motioning towards the plush love seat next to the fireplace.
"Really, I can't. I'm-" I began to explain; regaining my composure.
"SIT!" He roared. Composure gone. I practically sprinted to the love seat as I sat down. Black Mask followed suit. He handed a champagne glass to me. "This'll calm ya down." Something told me there was a little more than champagne in that glass.
"I don't drink." I lied.
"DRINK." He barked. I again did as I was told. Man, I felt like I was a dog in obedience training. Sit, drink, etc. I guess you could say I was a real bitch, eh? Gah! I always have to have a stupid joke. Why is that? As soon as Black Mask looked away to set his drink down, I spit out the champagne into a nearby fern. Who knows what the hell is in that. "You see, I run a very tight operation here, sweetheart. Each of my girls are hand picked by yours truly. I just don't remember picking you." I gulped, so he knew I wasn't really one of his so called girls.
"You didn't. I'm not supposed to be here." I started to explain.
"I know, I know, you're covering for Candy." Mask retorted. I began to reply but Mask started up again. "However, I have a policy for ALL of my girls. I like to give them a test run, if you will. I wouldn't want a nice politician to pay top dollar for a throw only to get less than what they bargained for." Black Mask had polished off his drink and walked over towards his desk for another. "You girls are what keeps the big boys quiet. A quickie with one of my girls keeps this establishment from going under. So, I find it very important to make sure my girls are high quality." I did not at all like where this speech was going.
"What are you getting at?" I asked hesitantly. I began to prepare myself to make a run for the door. It was my only shot. Black Mask let out a chuckle.
"I'm sorry, blondie. I'll try to use smaller words." He replied. I sneered at that remark. He strode back over to the couch; towering over me. "I'm gonna need you to have sex with me. Right now." I started to get up but he immediately shoved me on the couch. He got on top of me, trapping me beneath him. "Where do you think you're going?"
"I really have to get going." I said.
"No, dollface. That's not how things are gonna work here." He said as he reached for his belt buckle. My instincts kicked in as I immediately kicked him in the family jewels. He let out a deep groan as he fell on to the floor. Quickly, I dashed towards the door. I yanked on the handle only to find that the door wouldn't budge. Locked.
"Shit!" I cursed.
"You'll pay for that, bitch!" Black Mask called. I turned towards him as I noticed him pulling out a revolver from his coat. A shot was fired as I immediately threw myself to the floor. He missed. I quickly hid under the desk. More shots fired as they came closer and closer. Wait, didn't Mask have guards stationed outside his door? Why weren't they coming in after hearing all this racket? My question was soon answered by a different sound. I could hear the door being ripped off of its hinges. My curiosity was peaked as I glanced from under the desk. The man that was following me earlier stood in the doorway, dead bodies littered behind him. Holy shit. The man had a very plain expression. He was totally okay with the fact that he had just murdered about a dozen people.
"Who the fuck are you?!" Mask yelled. Oh boy was he irritated.
"Where's the girl?" Was all he asked. He had a deep voice. He was very direct and to the point with his demands.
"That's none of your goddamn business." He growled. The man was not pleased with his answer as he immediately threw Black Mask on to the ground; crushing his larynx with his foot.
"Where's the girl?" He repeated, this time his voice was louder.
"Do you know who I am?" Mask gasped. He was a stubborn man, I'll tell ya. Mask yelped as the man pushed down harder on in throat.
"I do not have all day." Was his reply. I couldn't hide here forever. I quickly looked around for any tools that would assist me. Spying a revolver, I quickly grabbed it. There was only one way I was getting out of this. I would have to use force.
"Hold it right there!" I yelled. All eyes were now on me. I was aiming the gun directly in between the man's eyes; hoping that would scare him. Clearly it didn't as he stepped off of Black Mask's throat and moved towards me. I took a step back. "Don't come any closer!"
"You and I both know you're not going to use that thing." He stated plainly. He could read me like a book. Keep your pokerface, Sarina.
"What makes you say that?" I questioned.
"You're shaking." He smirked. I glanced down and noticed that my arms wouldn't stop moving. "Now put the gun down and come with me. No one has to get hurt."
"I'm not going anywhere with you." I growled. I could take him...maybe.
"I've been authorized to use force. Do I really have to break your arm?" He inquired. I'm pretty sure that wasn't just an expression either. He was just a few inches from my gun now. I took in a deep breath, knowing exactly what I'd have to do. My arm quickly shot for his face, but the man was quicker as he grabbed my arm in a firm grip and twisted it. The gun fell out of my hands. I kicked him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and pushing him back. He clearly wasn't expecting that. I darted for the now open door as heavy foot steps thundered after me I flung myself into the open elevator. I saw him close behind. My finger immediately went to the close door button, clicking it as fast as I could. Why wasn't the door closing?! The man eventually burst into the elevator and slammed me against the wall. Ironically, the door immediately closed behind him. "You know that button doesn't really work, right?" I growled as I spit in his face. He rebuttleed with a bitch slap across the face.
"What do you want? The money, I'm guessing?" I questioned.
"My boss is very interested in The Joker's little bargain, but he's not in it for the money." He explained. What the hell is he talking about? Why else would his boss be turning me in if it wasn't for the reward.
"Who do you work for?" I inquired.
"You'll find out soon." He stated calmly. A ding was heard as the elevator door opened. I noticed a dark shadowy figure lurking outside. Before the man could even put me down, the dark shadowy figure lunged at the man. I slid down on my ass to the floor with a thud. It was none other than the dark knight himself laying the smack down on the man. The man flung the bat out of the elevator. The entire club had been cleared out. I'm guessing the man had made quite an entrance early. Now it was only Batman and the man. Left to duke it out. I couldn't help but think of The Princess Bride where Wesley was attacked by the giant rat and soon to be Princess Buttercup just stood there and watched. Not even picking up a finger to help him. I always yelled at the TV screen when she would do that. Certainly I was not going to make the same mistake. Quickly, I pulled myself off of the ground and ran towards the action. The man had just dodged a punch from Batman. Seeing my chance to intervene, I immediately summersaulted on to the man's shoulder's, using his weight to throw him onto the floor. He quickly threw me off of him. Just in time for Batman to pounce, knocking him out cold. Batman stood up and stared daggers at me. I decided to break the tension.
"We make a great team, huh bats?" I smirked with pride, putting my hand out as if he would shake it. I didn't expect him to, but I thought it was polite. Instead, Batman put my wrist in a vice grip and yanked me towards him.
"What were you thinking?!" He growled in his gruff voice. "You should've listened to Robin and let us help. None of this would have happened!"
"I'm Sorry Bats, I didn't think-" I started, trying to defend myself. I didn't realize he would be this mad about saving me.
"That's your problem! You don't think!" He shouted, gripping my arm tighter.
"OW! I'M SORRY!" I shouted louder. I could feel tears starting to trickle down my face. Being yelled at by Batman is the most terrifying experience ever. I could see some of the anger leave his eyes as he abruptly let go of me. That was certainly going to bruise.
"You're a good fighter, Sarina." He said, in a much calmer tone this time. "But you're impulsive. You need to learn to think before you act."
"You're right. I should've listened." I sighed. "Sometimes I'm too stubborn for my own good." I'm pretty sure my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I could've sworn that the dark knight showed a slight smirk.
"This is only the beginning. Dozens of other criminals will try and turn you in to the Joker. You need to be on your A-game if you want to survive." Batman explained.
"Do you know why he wants me?" I questioned.
"I'm looking into it." He replied. "Commissioner Gordon has your mother and your house on 24 hour surveillance. You should be safe." I immediately pictured myself as Rapunzel, waiting to be saved, locked up in a guarded tower. That was not how I wanted to live my life.
"No, I can't live like that." I stated. Batman was silent as he looked down at me. "I want to be more than just some princess locked in a tower. I want to fight my own battles."
"It's too dangerous. With your fighting skills-" Batman started. That's when I got an idea.
"We can fix that!" I interrupted. "You're the greatest fighter in the world. I'm sure you can show me a thing or two."
"Sarina, no." He stated. "You're only 16."
"And how old is Robin?" I retorted. "I would guess 17, maybe 18. I've probably seen him around school before, haven't I?" Batman said nothing. I think he was beginning to consider my proposal. "You said it yourself, I'm a good fighter. Maybe if I brush up on my skills I won't actually be kidnapped all the time!" There was another pause.
"Alright." Batman finally sighed. A smile began to grow on my face. Really? Was he serious. "On the condition that you will be accompanied by a police officer at all times."
I thought it over. I'd certainly get a lot of looks at school, but fighting lessons from Batman? I would give up anything for that.
"Deal!" I smirked with glee. I stretched out my hand and this time, the caped crusader actually shook it. His gloved hand practically devouring mine. What do ya know! He knows how to shake!
"You really are too stubborn for your own good." He replied. I chuckled as the two of us made our way out of the building.
