So sorry about the late update, I thought I had updated on Marco's birthday, but obviously I didn't. Then the new pokemon games came out, and then last weekend my dad decided before he went out of town to NYC to turn of the internet for whatever god dang reason he thought made sense. So here it is, only a few more chapters on this one. Please enjoy.
Chapter 19
Marco grit his teeth as their group of escapee's stood over the rows of prison cells that made up the level filled with wild beasts. One more level and they would be at the doors to Impel Down and beyond that freedom. However the group standing in front of him and the others had ground their escape to a halt.
The Blackbeard pirates looked well enough off, especially with Teach's new title of Shichibukai protecting him in the last month or so, and all the damage they had wrought throughout the Grandline with that title at their disposal.
Marco wanted to wipe the stupid grins off all their faces, just thinking about what they had put his lover and friend through.
"Zehahahaha, Commander Marco what a pleasant surprise. I'm amazed the old man actually chose to come here. His presence made breaking in here easier, even though we had to sneak past him to get in."
Teach continued to laugh. Thatch and Marco were both fuming now, and both could only be happy that Ace was still passed out.
"Get out of the way Teach. I'll let you live this time, but only cause I have more important things to see to yoi."
Teach laughed louder, "So the brat is yours then Commander Marco. I assumed as much, but who says that we intended to let you go?"
Marco clenched his teeth in frustration at hearing that. While he was confident in his skills, he wasn't sure of Teaches full abilities anymore. The man had always appeared rather helpless for one of the Whitebeard Pirates oldest members. However as was often true on the Grandline, appearances were deceiving.
"Captain. It may not be wise to linger, we should be finished soon so we don't get stuck." That came from the skinny pail man behind Teach.
"Zehahaha, I suppose. I had really wanted Commander Ace to join our crew. I suppose I can wait till the Old Man is dead."
"Maybe we should have culled the brat from his gut. The guilt might have allowed us to procure him as a member." The man on the horse said.
"Or let him have it and then hold it over his head to he listens to the captain." The man with the lens covering his eye, obviously their sharpshooter, said.
"Zehahaha, you all are terrible." Then he grinned towards Marco, "Though none of them are bad plans."
By now Marco was incensed, and only years of practice kept him level headed enough to not drop everything and try to kill the men talking about his family like they were simple objects to be played with. A quick glance at Sabo and Lucci showed the same restraint. Wait were was Luffy?
"However," Teach continued after another shock ran through the prison, "we really should be going. We have bigger manners to deal with. The Whitebeard crew can wait. Soon the name of the Blackbeard pirates will reign supremeā¦.." He barely got to finish before Luffy's fist was in his gut, sending him sprawling back.
"You stop talking about my brother and his baby that way!"
Well there were better ways to deal with this situation. However Marco and the rest of their group could hardly contain their smiles at Luffy's protectiveness and show of strength.
Another earthquake shook the prison.
Maybe they should be going.
Whitebeard watched the men he considered children raid the worlds mightiest prison with watchful eyes. His eyes mainly straining to see the blonde head of his First Commander reappear from the pit called Impel Down. He had not been happy with Marco's plan to fly head first into the unknown marine infested spire, but had agreed knowing he would not be able to convince his first mate otherwise. Frankly his heart went out to his 'oldest' son as he thought back over the last few months. Being away from Ace had been hard on the Phoenix, but knowing that they were keeping the fire logia wielder safe had put his heart at rest. The news of Ace's capture had almost sent the calmest man on Whitebeards crew over the proverbial deep end. The Marine's would be in for quiet a fight after this battle, if they so much as approached the Moby Dick in the next few months. Whitebeard would make sure they would, he'd had enough from them bothering his sons. And he planned on being even more protective of his first and possibly only grandchild.
Glancing around at the ongoing battle once more, Whitebeard smiled at the scene in front of him.
Jozu was currently battling the warden of Impel Down, Magellan, whose powers over poison were proving very useless against Jozu's Diamond covered body. And all around that battle the marine's and prison guards were falling en-mass to his other son's battle prowess.
However the much anticipated sight of a blonde mop of hair running towards the ship truly made him grin, especially when he noted who Marco was carrying. However the large group shielding his two sons actually made him laugh as he recognized many of them, realizing how truly pissed off Sengoku was going to be after today.
After his two missing sons and First mate were onboard he called for a retreat. Today was a good day. He always had enjoyed making Sengoku fume, especially when he suffered no losses.
Marco was quick in taking Ace straight to the infirmary after he boarded the Moby Dick. Jinbei was right behind him carrying a very irate Thatch under his arm. And Lucci was carrying Luffy, much to his older brothers irritation, if the look on Sabo's face was anything to go by.
He was quickly pushed out of the way, the second he laid his lover down on one of the infirmary beds, by a very worried group of doctors. He moved away to let the doctor's work, moving instead to take Thatch from Jinbei before he deposited his best friend not-so gently on the adjacent bed. Then turned to watch Lucci place his captain on the bed on the other side of Ace, before moving to let a doctor look at the young Pirate King to be.
Knowing it might be a while before he could sit with Ace he headed up to the deck in favor of helping his crew get as far from the prison as possible. However the dark look on his Captains face quickly drew his attention away from the spire they were slowly leaving behind.
Sengoku had apparently not been idle in his planning. The large force that lay before the Whitebeard crew and its allies was a formidable one. Especially as Marco noted as he looked through a telescope that each ship had some sort of clone of Bartolomew Kuma on board. Something didn't sit right with him about those, and Sabo coming up behind him confirmed his instinctual dislike.
So the warlord had given himself to Vegepunk to toy with. That didn't liken their odds.
And neither did the appearance of Akainu at their forefront either, damn he hated that man. His twisted view of justice pissed most pirates off.
Whitebeard didn't wait long after seeing the Marine ships headed their way to tell the crew to prepare to flee. Then as he prepared to send a massive shockwave at the ships, and large projectile of some sort hit the majority of the ships on the right, sending the Marines into a panic.
Then on of the oddest things Whitebeard or any of his crew had ever seen landed next to their main ship.
Marco could only think, 'A flying ship well that was new.'
However before he could voice his concerns, a stern looking green-haired swordsman appeared from one of the doors. He turned and with almost no fear showing that he was facing the strongest man in the world he said, "Your Whitebeard right? My Captain Luffy was going to save his brother from the place you just attacked, he on your ship?"
So what you all think? I have to imagine Zoro would be a bit scared of Whitebeard, cause in Alabasta he showed some knowhow about the Whitebeard pirates, and some obvious respect of their power. And you can use a bit of imagination to figure out what happened with Teach in the prison, it could have happened a bunch of different ways (I imagine it not too different from the anime, just minus Magellan and maybe a little more tense).
Anyway on my other story if any of you all are reading, give me a few more days. I have it typed, but something about it is bothering me so I need to change some stuff to appease the little fanfic demon living in my head.
