Chapter 27
The Tragedy of Apology
January 3rd 8am Megan is released from the psych hold. The police arrive to transfer her to jail after she is processed like a common criminal she begs to call her husband saying that he will straighten all of this out. She must have really scared Logan if he was willing to press charges on her. She'd been put back on her meds. The nasty little things. One of the officers give her a phone in a room where she knew she was being watched. Dialing his number, she waited for him to answer. When he answers the phone as he did for business, no compassion touched his tone even after she announced that it was her. She hears Glenny in the background and missed her family that much more.
Logan had been fixing his son breakfast, with everything that had went on he needed normal behavior, not only for his son's sake, but for himself as well. Sitting the orange juice near Glenny's plate and telling him the bacon was hot to blow it Glenny blows the plate saying he was a cold Dragan. Logan smirked and was about to engage his son in a talk about what a cold Dragan was. He loved hearing Glenny explain stuff. His personal cell rings, his dad had given back the stolen item in the hospital after taking the text and recovered conversations Megan had on the thing. Having a set time frame helped the process move quickly they took everything from the time Megan was recorded leaving him knocked out in Glenny's bathroom. He'd warred with a major decision and was no closer to a final action than when he'd come home on the 1st. He told himself that she had problems, but hell everyone in the fucking human race, had some kind of shit to deal with. These two nights alone with his son made him see that Megan no matter how much drugs they pumped into her system, and no matter if she went back to being the sweet caring person he thought he knew, the fact that what lay beneath all the mind numbing med, was someone that he couldn't trust, and to be perfectly honest didn't like right now. She pushed him to his breaking point and beyond to the point he'd started losing himself. If it weren't for Glenny of all people laying on him and reminding him that he was all the kid had in the way of sane adults, he would have backed over Megan in the garage. He'd felt bad for pushing her into the wall and getting in her face. That type of thing just wasn't done in his family, you protected children and females, not put your hands on them, and you sure as hell didn't push them around. Megan did way more than get her pound of flesh back for his actions towards her. His father pointed out that he hadn't hurt her. After seeing the video, he knew that tone, she was aroused that sickened him. Sex was the last thing on his mind when he hemmed her ass against the wall to stop her from hitting him. Fuck that she left him period. Fuck the truck, phone or any material shit. That flash of memory that wouldn't leave him alone, was brief but every time it flashed before his eyes, it hardened his heart. Her looking down at him, and then leaving him. Seeing on the video that she had no remorse for knocking him out, just ate him alive. He hadn't even hurt her, and felt like shit, she sent a metal can of paint thinner into the base of his skull watched him kiss the pavement, and then took off to go collect their child, a shiver ran though him at what could have been her goal after she got Glenny.
Getting up he put his hand over the phone and told Glenny to finish up. Glenny says okay daddy and plucked the bacon from his plate. He knew Megan was still on the line. "Yeah" Megan launched into the fact she was out and being sent to jail. "What do you want Megan?" Glenny looked up and at the same time dropped one of the pieces of syrup covered pancake on his shirt. Logan walked around and plucked it off, and threw it in the trash. As Megan poured her heart out to him the minute he said her name Glenny fumbled the fork and was wearing part of his breakfast. He mutes Megan and says to Glenny who stared down at his shirt "Short stuff, I think your Iron Man shirt looks better anyway." Glenny pulled the shirt off and ran for his room. He takes Megan off mute, she was still at it. "Are you done?" she begs him to please come and fix this, that his family was the ones that arrested her, and that she knew she went about things the wrong way, but she was better now. She tells him he knew she was a hot head. "That's what supposed to excuse all of this? Here's a question for you, any thoughts on what you would have done if you did me in? You say you were going to get Glenny to make our family all better. You claim you were going to return when you got him. You left me hurt and out of it locked in our son's bathroom. Did it ever occur to you that you could have hurt me even worse or killed my ass? Let's say by some horror you got Glenny from Candy and brought him back to the house, if he ran and hid from you when I was knocked out by your brother, lover, friend or whatever Glenn is to you now. What do you think our little boy would have done if he came into his bathroom and found me dead? Death is for good, there is no I'm sorry that can change it." She asked how he got loose. "Bye Megan" she starts crying and begging him not to hang up saying she was sorry she scared him. It came out before he could make it sound better but once again her lack of empathy for the situation she created just undid his resolve. "I was trying to forgive you like an idiot for cheating on me. Feared for my life the night I brought you back home trying to fix another mess. My father found me and sent me to the hospital. Still your Logan was trying to make sure that his Red wasn't hurt. I saw the footage of our little shoving match, I didn't hurt you, for some sick reason you were turned on." She says because that was the most contact he had with her since Christmas. Anger boiled his blood "Whose fault is that? I tried to get over all of it, but I just can't it's just too much Megan. I'm done, I give up, and I can't do this shit. I refuse to lay in bed with you wondering when you're going to finish me off. I am filing for a divorce." She begs in a childish voice for him not to leave her. "If you're acting you're wasting your time my mind is made up. If you not acting you're wasting mine. I'm tired of being your moral referee, that wasn't the job I signed up for when I said I do." She cries that she's sorry. "Some things, you just can't fix with I'm sorry. You cheated on me, you lied to my face about so much, and I have yet to prove it, but I think you did more than you let on to Glenny. He's almost as hesitant with you as he was with Carla, and that's not fair to him." She says that bullshit he's like that with all adults. "NO he's not. You tried to turn my family against me by accusing me of beating on you. You know damn well I didn't do that to your face. You seem to like to try to rip apart families, got your claws wet on your own brother and niece. I'm just glad your tactic didn't work." She says she's sorry and begs him to fix this. "I'm sorry you thought those two words would work this time. I still don't wish anything bad to happen to you." She says that he can't take her child, claiming she would fight him and he would lose in a custody battle against her. "You're in jail for attacking me and breaking a part of a restraining order by threatening a pregnant woman's life on a recorded line. I just can't do us anymore, Good luck and goodbye Megan." He hits end calls Sophie "Yeah it's me Logan, I did what you said I weighted the situation and I want to divorce. Megan can have the house, but I want my son safe and she already threatened to fight me in court over him." Sophie asked where he would go if Megan could have the house, saying that him and Glenny couldn't live in a box. "I saw a house on Chase's rebuild Grandville site that with a little work I can rehab it and Glenny and I could live in it. I'll be there after I get cleared to drive, thanks Sophie." He and his son was going to get a ride with Beth to his Clinic then if everything went well, he would be driving towards G South by this afternoon.
Megan stood with the phone still to her ear. She was so royally screwed she'd meant to get Logan back on her side and all her efforts failed. She didn't listen to him. She broke trust and his heart. She had hurt him in more ways than even she thought she had. She didn't do as the counselor said. She said for Megan not to defend her actions, and learn to listen without defending her actions or trying to explain them. She hadn't listened to Logan and launched in with he knew how she was and that she was a hot head, that was the worst thing she could have said. She didn't ask questions, she didn't have to, he spelled it out for her. Logan didn't trust her, and her actions both the psychical shit and the emotional shit she put him through had taken its toll on him. She apologized and knew why she was apologizing. Her I'm sorry wasn't going to cut it. Even though she was really sorry this time. Instead of asking what she could do to regain his trust, she'd lashed out at him and threatened to take away his son. He had a point she was in jail and without Logan fighting to get her out on bail she would remain in here. Her married life had tanked when she left him and went to go get Glenny no scratch that, her life tanked when Logan walked in on her moment of stupidity with Glenn. An officer walked in and took her back to the cell. One of the females looked at her and asked wasn't she Megan Callaway. Megan burst into tears she soon would be back to being Megan Callaway. She'd tried using the last name to get around shit with Janet's school to make herself seem more important, but that had backfired. Now she would give anything to still be Megan Conner by the end of the year. Janet's voice popped in her mind at the guidance meeting. "Don't you mean Megan Callaway-Conner?" that snarky asshole had stared at her and she'd ruffled Janet's hair saying kids said the silliest things. Had she tanked all of her relationships?"
Angel held JC, Sophie had went for a few meetings but said she would be back tonight. Gloria went home. Mark and the girls went back to Ivey Mansion last night. Her father sat by the bed. No one was answering her question about Joshua, and it was starting to not only irritate her but more than that it worried her. Paula had come back this morning and visited before she went to take Tracy home who was released earlier. Luke and the Tech that hooked up the camera system disabled the camera. "What are you doing?" Luke tells her that he had good news concerning Joshua. "You do?" he says that he was on his way to release Joshua and that they needed the camera back in the room it came from. "That is good news thank you Luke." She looks pointy at her father as she says "finally, someone willing to tell me about my husband."
Down in Joshua's room he'd managed to sit up and it hurt less than when he tried the day after he was admitted. He really needed to see his wife and child. The minute Luke came in and told him he was being released he could have hugged the male. Luke says Joshua could apply the topical to reduce the pain since his system, his throat, and by mouth painkillers weren't friends. An hour after Luke signed him out, Joshua stiffly walked to the elevator. He'd been offered a wheelchair but signed the wavier, the last thing he wanted to do is be rolled into his wife's room. Deon had brought his I Lead Jacket saying Jonathon had put fist to face to Patrick and got the jacket back, Joshua told his band mate to burn the fucking thing. Patrick wearing his Jacket, Joshua would get another tour jacket, but it would look nothing like what Patrick stole and wore to their home and scared Angel so bad she went into labor and passed out. He wanted only a few things, to see and hold his son, and not take last year's shit home with them. It was bad enough, that he was going to have to tell her about his mother, he wanted the shit out before they went home. Candy walked by his side. Though if he fell he'd told her not to try to catch his heavy ass. He was doing well. That oxygen mix, and all that med made it a lot easier to take a breath. He could deal with the pain of his bruised ribs and the surface shit that was healing hell it was manageable not like when he first got here or even yesterday right after his mother pounced on his ass. He walks in and Jonathon gets up and asked if he wanted the seat nearest Angel's bed. He nods as he watched his wife holding his son. He kept moving until he picked up his son and sat down with a small wince. "Hey Jonathon-Chase it's me your dad." He was finally holding his son. JC did have his eye color but as of now the set of his lips, and even the set of his eyes reminded him of a picture of Angel when she was a baby. "He looks like you, babe." Soon JC falls asleep in his arms and Joshua asked their dad if he would take him for a minute. Jonathon takes JC and Joshua grabs the bedrail and pulls himself to a standing position. Looking down at his wife he asks "Hey want to take a walk with me?"
Angel hadn't seen him in person in three days. Paula had her Knight in Leather and denim. Joshua was Angel's prince in Blue Bolt Jeans and band tees. "Sure babe" Getting up they walked to the door and something catches her eye, walking over she plucked her black Nine Inch Nails hoodie off the back of a chair. She couldn't fit now if she tried. Staring at it she turns and fists it at her dad "How did this get here? I couldn't have been wearing this." Jonathon tells her, but says that Glenn wasn't let in the room. Joshua tensed at her side at her father's mention of Glenn's name. As much as she loved her NIN hoodie the thought that she hadn't just lost it in the club, or in the house with all the crap that was running track in her head that night. That Glenn had it tarnished it for good. With all the hell he'd put her though, it marked the night she found out about Glenn's wife from Megan coming in to her house under the guise of checking on Janet after she'd got away from Rachael. Glenn had struck, Joshua watching Joshua hit the floor like a broken doll, fearing that Glenn had one hit wandered her best friend. She didn't want a reminder of that, and that's what keeping it would do. She was so a different person now and this piece of the past she knew what to do with. Angel walks out the door and lets it slide from her hand into the trash. Looking back at Joshua she says to her mate "I'm ready for that walk now." Bobby and Andrew walk towards them.
Joshua remembers the last night he saw his good luck charm wearing her favorite band hoodie. Angel thought she left it at the club and it had been snatched. It'd been snatched alright, by a 7 foot 300-pound thief. She put her hand in his as they walked down the hall. Bobby and Andrew followed seeing an empty waiting room they walked inside and closed the door. He was going tell her the answer to the questions she'd asked him as they had been walking. She sits on the sofa in the little sitting room he sits beside her, making sure not to jar himself too much. "You asked why I didn't speak to you yesterday and yes this is new." He runs his hand across the newest scratch pattern on his forearms. He was glad Candy was able to tell him that the redness on his neck would fade first, she said mostly the bitch applied pressure stopping blood flow to the brain instead of air flow and that wouldn't leave a scar unless she'd killed him. The disturbing thing was he knew why Candy knew. Snapping himself back to the present he continues. "Angel, I didn't call you yesterday because most of the day I was out of it. My birth mother came for a visit. We had words she asked for money and I refused, she got pissed off and attacked me." He holds up his arms crossed in front of him. "I defended myself" Angel touches his bruised hand and asked did he punch her. "No that's from the fight with James at the bar. Candy stopped her I was kind of out of it by then, all the movement not the best." Angel looks down at their joined hands he says. "Babe I'm okay." She looked up into his face "Really. Brenda is in jail and I just wanted to tell you before we went home. I know what the date is, but for me this year doesn't start until we get our little family home safe and sound." He kisses her. She places her hands on his biceps he stiffened that spot was sensitive from where his brother tied him up and threw him in his closet, but if anyone was going to touch him he'd rather it be his wife any day of the week. She goes to withdraw "No your fine."
They soon return to Angel's room Chase walks in and greets them all. He announces that because of the clear breach of security he had Interactive install a camera system with auto face recognition and with Sophie's help updated the list of people allowed on the property entering in their id numbers from their cards if the ID didn't match the person approaching the outer doors the camera sent a message to the gate houses. The gate houses were also now manned by Andrew and Frank as joint security a large part of Ace Security was fired and fined for their incompetence with exception of the ones that were following and protecting Sophie. Angel asked how he managed to get Andrew to quit working for Bobby. Chase says he didn't, Andrew would still be active as a federal marksman, but since Bobby was his field commander he changed Andrew's status he was now a close protection officer to the residents of Ivey Mansion he was the only one that got fully reactivated to serve as such, because of the prior events within the STOP team.
Monday Jonathon-Chase and Angel are released to go home. Andrew walks just in front of Joshua he pushes JC in his stroller as Angel walks alongside her husband through the skywalk into to the clinical office building. As they walk out of the door Andrew is effective in backing up the press that had copped to the new way they would come out of the hospital. They start backing up but still try to take pictures and yell questions at the couple. Jonathon gets out and the press fire questions at him to which he completely ignores them. Joshua detaches the car seat from the stroller and takes his son car seat and all putting him in the middle of the back seat. Angel gets in the back seat on the passenger side Bobby's Hummer soon parts the press as he gets out and helps Andrew keep the press in their place. JC was asleep before they left the building all the noise had woke him, and he started to wail Angel uncovered his face since they were inside he wailed with his little fist clenched, Angel rubs his hand and says his name telling him everything was okay. Joshua closes the door and is collapsing the stroller he puts it in the back and when someone threw a drink at his head as he is closing the trunk. Joshua ducked the flying Burger King cup. Bobby ran towards where the flying cup came from. Joshua gets in the backseat with his family when he opens the door he thought to himself if anyone threw anything else the whole non-reactionary thing Chase had talked to them about was going out the window. Jonathon got in the driver's seat and honked the horn to let Andrew know they were all in. They head home remembering what was yelled before he caught the flying cup out of the corner of his eye and ducked. Must have been some kind of church rag they asked how he liked being the son of a harlot.
Angel manages to calm their son she pulls his pacifier out of the side compartment and he suckles the thing calming down, touch and saying his name only went so far. Gloria smiled back at the little sucking sniffle sounds JC is making and says "He has a lot of your da in him, both of them don't like their sleep interrupted." Angel sighs and says she didn't know where that comment was going but was glad it didn't reveal anything she shouldn't know about her father. Jonathon meets her eyes in the review mirror with a smirk and says she thought Gloria was going to start kissing and telling Gloria thought about it "Oh Ah no" they pull to the gate. Covering JC back up Joshua lets the window down Frank looks in the vehicle tells his employers welcome home and opens the gate. Jonathon pulled into the garage. They get out and. Joshua noticed the change in the system when they went to the garage door that led into the house it took a few seconds for the lock to unlock and that was only after the light on the camera turned green.
Mark, Paula, and the girls are in the living room waiting on them. "Can I hold him please" Nikki says and Janet says she wanted to hold him he was her cuzo. Angel says let her get him changed and fed and they could both hold him. Katie Jade was laying under her favorite mobile on her blanket next to Paula, Alanna was sleeping in her daddy's arms. A call came in through the system from Bradley for Joshua after asking Angel did she have everything, he goes into the den and takes the call.
"Hey bro you have great timing we just got home." Bradley asks him was he sitting down. "Um no what's wrong?" His older brother tells him about the situation of their parents. "Okay that explain the cup and comment from the press today. Where is dad? What? Tell him he can come here until that is dealt with. No he doesn't need to be alone he didn't do shit wrong. If the fucker hadn't of been in his house trying to hurt mom, dad wouldn't have stabbed his ass. No head back to the house I'll send Ivey transit to go get dad. Where's your roommate's car?" Bradley explains how the woman got her house fixed up and put him out, and how his ride to the hotel was not answering his calls anymore. "Bummer well okay I'll have you dropped off back over to the house. Mom is bound to be not too happy with being there with dad not there." Joshua can hear his father in the background saying he wasn't trying to get Joshua and Angel anymore bad press. Putting his hand to his temple Joshua says "Put him on." Michael tells him that he didn't want to be a burden that he was okay. "Dad you're not a freaking burden you were there for me and I aim to be here for you guys end of story." Michael asks him did he think Angela would have reservation about him staying there. "I'll ask her okay, fair enough?" Michael asks him how he was doing. "I'm fine dad. What is this number, is this the hotel number or is it auto routed to your room?" Michael says it rings in his room so he would guess it was auto routed. "Okay let me speak to Angel and I'll call you back."
Megan is let out on bail but to find out that she couldn't go within a 100 yards of her husband pissed her off. She watched him across the courtyard the judge wouldn't dismiss her until Logan and his "counsel" left the courtroom he'd been dressed like he was going to a business meeting and Sophie and two other lawyers was walking with him. Megan's eyes narrow as she watches Sophie hold Glenny's hand as they crossed the street and got in her little fancy sports car. Something that Logan did made her think there was still hope he said she could go to their house that he was temporality at another residence.
Her day wasn't over she had to go to yet another court, but she would get to see him again they had mediation because he wanted a divorce but they have a child so the state requires them to go through mediation. She asked the mediator where Logan and her son was staying and the man told her that as long as he didn't take the child out of Texas because of the civil order placed on her his whereabouts were not available to her. She was mad because Sophie was in the mediation so she told the mediator that she wanted her son to come home where he belonged, because he wasn't safe riding around with no car seat in Sophie's sports car. The mediator wouldn't even grant her visitation saying at this moment Mr. Connor was better for the welfare of the child, but he went outside with Sophie and came back in to assure her that there was a booster seat in the vehicle's back seat. Hours later she arrives at her home and was surprised it was like Logan gutted the place. Nothing was damaged, but all his stuff was gone and Glenny's stuff was gone. He repaired her Dodge Stealth and her motorcycle he'd put a note on it saying it was fixed. Walking into what used to be his home office, the only things left were the rug and their wedding photo that sat over where his desk used to sit. She walked into the bedroom that was going to be their new one the one she'd foolishly locked him in the bathroom of. Their bed was set up and the sheet set was his fuck you to her she guessed, it was the sheet set that was on their bed on Christmas. Walking into what used to be Glenny's bathroom, there were now colorful plastic handles where the metal ones used to be. Her phone beeped at her she had missed a call she listens to the message, her job wanted to have a meeting with her and said it was mandatory that she bring her department issued laptop and all her hard files. Her alarm went off to take her med, fuck the med, her job hadn't made her come in to the department since she got the promotion four years ago. That thought gave her pause, it was around this time 4 years ago that she and Logan had been trying to have a baby, and she found out she couldn't. She didn't have time to deal with it not really. Nina died and Mark went to the cabin and shut him and his girl away from everyone, and then he asked her to watch Janet. She didn't know why she let that little girl get to her the way she did. Now her little partner in crime wasn't allowed to come over let alone spend the night. The times she spanked Janet, she could remember only a few times where the girl even cried. She thought Mark and Nina's taking stuff away was not as effective of as taking the nearest thing near you and pushing the lesson in. She hoped her little boy didn't say anything like Janet did, that girl sung like a lark to her daddy. She tried to prevent Janet from spending lots of time with Mark, it was hard to maintain an intimidating presence from over 4 hours' way. Glenny was different, she didn't have to tell him not to tell Uncle Logan if she felt he needed a lesson pushed in, she made sure not to hit him in his face. The best part about her baby boy, was that he would apologize, and she would tell him she loved him and ask for a hug, and he would hug her. On the 19th of December he'd stayed where he was, when she told him to come give her a hug after he'd drop his ice-cream on her carpet and she'd taken her sandal to his clothed butt. He was mostly a good boy but that day he just stared at her and that pissed her off. She walked toward him and he took off like he was going to run, he'd got on his knees and about crawled out the pet door, she'd grabbed him by the back of his shirt and marched his little butt into his room and tossed him on the bed. You would have thought she beat him, he screamed when she let him go. She knew he didn't like the feeling of free falling, but she was still better than his mother, Carla dropped him on the floor. That night she had her own freak out, she thought she had hurt him he kept coughing while still trying to cry until he cried himself to sleep, and even coughed in his sleep. She'd stood outside his bedroom door. When she'd looked in on him she saw the mark on the front of his neck and was glad Logan wasn't going to be home for a few days he was finishing up LEGNA. By the 23rd she had Glenny back to his good little self. She still owed him for running off and hiding between the bikes. Their Christmas morning was so storybook, opening gifts, and Logan fixed breakfast she said she was going to the Conner's for Christmas. Penelope had invited them to Christmas and New Year's Day. She should have just gone to the Connor's home for Christmas, that way she wouldn't have been home when Glenn came by and they wouldn't have been caught fucking. She wished there were time machines. She would have gone to the Christmas party not been used as an Angel substitute. Logan that had once told her he was hooked on her would not be getting over her like a bad habit right now and divorcing her.
Angel had insisted Michael come to the house. She'd thought of him as kin ever since meeting him in CO before they got married. Not only was the male important to Joshua but he and Angel had hit it off with ease. Michael was Michael no matter what time of day it was. He was an older man that was used to being around his family, and since for some stupid reason he couldn't be around his wife Angel figured having him come over was better than him having to spend large amounts of time alone in a nicely decorated 5- star solitary confinement. Angel watched as her Dad held JC and the smile that took over his features. Paula had brought her up to speed about what the news was saying about him. Sophie walks in through the garage followed by Logan and Glenny who walks over to Michael ask him was the baby his. Michael says he is his grandson Glenny walks over to where Katie is trying once more to roll away from one side of her blanket and announces that she is his cousin he drags the word out to where it sounds like CUSS-sen. Michael engaged in a question and answer with Glenny and at times it was hard to keep a straight face. Logan and Sophie heads into Sophie's office. Candy and Deon comes over to pick up Nikki since her school started back tomorrow. Janet's Academy didn't start back up until next Monday because Marie the accountant she would be shadowing was still on vacation until then. The Nana Barnett Academy wasn't held to the same rules for public school as long as you tested past state core which Janet did at the beginning of her term your 140 plus days was knocked down to 100 days because the school took no funding from the State.
Later that night Candy, Deon and Nikki go to Candy's house right down the hill. Nikki liked her new room at Candy's house. It used to be Candy's guest room but since she would be staying here until her mom got out of rehab Candy had wanted her to feel more at home and this place was closer to her school. It was also closer to Janet during the school week. Janet and her family had went back to their home in Pittsburg her dad was going to be traveling a lot soon and they wanted some hang time just the 5 of them. Nikki would miss her girl as always but understood she couldn't wait until her mom was better. Then maybe just maybe they could have chill days too. She liked hanging with Candy and Deon but after seeing her mom and knowing she was getting better it just made Nikki not want to come back she wanted to stay but Chase had said it was time to go and she didn't want to seem like a brat. The flight in his jet was like a rollercoaster ride, they took to the air she was amazed at how fast they left the ground. One second you're speeding on the ground and the next thing you're in the air. She called her mom and went through the switchboard and her mom answered. "Hey I just wanted to tell you that I start back to school tomorrow. I'm near our new house at Candy's old one so I could walk but Candy says she's going to drive me since I won't get to walk to school with Janet because she won't start back until next week and she won't be going to her school she'll be in the center of town. I miss you, mom I know, well I better get off here 6am comes quick. Love you too."
Over in Pyramid Bradley sits across from his mom. She tried to act unaffected but if it made noise she jumped, she sat at the kitchen table reading the trash that was spun about this case. Cass had told him she'd been sleeping in their dad's chair until her back started hurting from sitting up all freaking night. Bradley tells Sally "look mom you know the press is going to say a lot of shit you know what happened and we do too now. I spoke to dad." Sally looked up at him and asked how he is. "Dad is okay, Joshua has him up at the house he was at a hotel. The evidence is trickling in according to his lawyer. He's waiting for something. Joshua said he lit up like a Christmas tree when he held JC." Sally mentions Michael's fear before his surgery that he wouldn't get to see or be mentally there enough to see Joshua's little boy. "Well he got to see him and hold him before any us did, so I know that made him happy. I know you and Dad can't speak to each other or nothing right now but Angel sent me a pic that I want you to see."
Sally takes her son's phone and the image filled her with many emotions. Her Michael sat in the grand living room of her youngest son and daughter's home holding a small redheaded baby. Michael's expression was one of joy. She noticed the bruising on her husband's face and wondered aloud if he'd got checked out. Bradley told her that it looked better in this pic than it did the night of the first. Now that she accepted that she had saw Michael and it wasn't an illusion when he sat with her in his embrace though his face was fuzzy for a time his nose wasn't broken. "You saw him the night this happened, being taken from the hospital I just don't remember him being injured. Can you put this picture on my picture cube please? I want to take it up to our room." Bradley prints the pic from his phone on Cassandra's printer and slides it into the cube. "Thank you, I think I'm going to try to get some sleep." Bradley asks her to turn around for a second Sally turns around and Bradley snaps her picture saying that their dad had asked how she was. "Please don't get him into more trouble, it's hard enough that he isn't here." Bradley says he was willing to play personal postman for them. He prints out her picture saying he wasn't going to send it he was going to deliver it personally. Sally excused herself and went to their room. That night she went to their bed and lay down with her husband's image on her night stand. She wrote him a letter and would ask Bradley to give it to him. After finishing her letter, she lay in their too big bed, and drifted off to sleep.
Tracy had been busy she spoke to her son and to his adoptive parents and she found out how to lodge a complaint on a state system social worker, that had tenure the adoptive parents were going to as well on behalf of her son since he wasn't old enough to enter a complaint. Her son's case was going to be reviewed the thing that made her want to warn Logan was that she hadn't thought of the possible ramification this would have on Glenny. Logan was so shredded that night he spoke to her. Tonight she had invited him over to her apartment. He said he was bringing Glenny and had something to tell her. She took Paula up on the vacation time, she needed it. This was the beginning even if she couldn't get her son back she really didn't want Megan near a child in a professional manner ever again. When Logan arrived with Glenny they ate the food he brought Glenny soon tuckered out she laid him in her bed. Logan surprised her when she came back into the living area. "You're getting divorced? Logan I hope this has nothing to do with what I said about the removing the bars from the tub that night I was pissed still am but I…" Logan waved off her apology. He told her that her statement had nothing to do with his decision. He just needed to get off the phone that night because his head was everywhere. He paced her small living area and told her how he felt about a lot of the shit that went down and the underlining mistrust and fear that drove his decision. She grabbed a beer and threw him one. Standing in her kitchenette she had to tell him what she'd done. "Logan, I have something to tell you." He takes a sip, sits down on her sofa saying hit me. "I lodged a complaint against Megan for the shit she did with my kid's case. She lied to them about me, she lied to so many people. I didn't contact her department I did it through the federal website, because I didn't want my complaint to get swept under the rug." He nods "The woman I spoke to Saturday said that once this is put into motion Megan's entire department and its action will come under review. There is a chance that Glenny could get taken out of your home. The woman asked if I believed that she would tamper with her own son's information like she tampered with mine, I told her the truth yes. She asked me had I seen any evidence of abuse. I told her no I hadn't seen any myself but I did tell her some of the stuff you told me."
Logan puts the beer down on her coffee table and gets up. "Tracy I understand that you are doing what you feel you have to. I was with you until you threw my son in to the pot. What exactly in our little talk did you tell her?" She spoke and Logan's heart sank. Everything vented while trying to put himself back to together, the stuff about Janet and Glenny. Tracy had broken that confidence in one conversation. "All the personal shit I have held for you. You never had to ask me to hold them they went in and I locked them up." he points to his head and makes a key turning motion with his hand "I confide in you one time in the 17 years we've known each other and you run, not walk, but run to the nearest agency and tell everything I said to you. I'm trying to think if there is something I have said to you in the past 4 hours that I shouldn't have. Probably everything that was said since I got here." Tracy says she's sorry but the woman kept asking questions and she just kept talking. "You're sorry? On that note I think it's best if I leave. I am so fucking tired of those two words, they mean less and less every time I hear them." He walks in her bedroom and picks up his sleeping son, cradles him against his chest as he walks back pass her, out the front door and down the stairs. Glenny reached out in his sleep and grabbed Logan's jacket front. "Daddy got ya, it's okay" He puts Glenny in his seat in the backseat of his truck. Tracy comes down the stairs he pulls off. Two hours later he drives passed his home and heads towards Mark's ranch where he, and his son would stay until they got the house in Grandville South. Logan got Glenny in bed and sat on the back porch. Looking out across the fields he saw the people Mark had hired ride the horses. Their house was just up the road a little over a mile they came here and took care of the horses and the ranch when no one was here. He wanted to be pissed at Tracy, but truth was he should have kept his damn trap shut. If he lost Glenny, there wouldn't be anyone to blame but himself. Getting up he walked in and sat in the room Glenny was sleeping in. He watched his son sleep looked at his watch, he lay on the sofa in the room, it was 3 in the morning and in about 4 hours Glenny would be up telling him it was daytime.
Days pass, Susan Greene the social worker that helped with Glenny's adoption. Was completely dumbstruck she and Megan weren't best friends, but she thought she knew the woman. She had been called to review Megan's case notes, for the last few days all she did was eat drink and sleep Megan Connor's case files and her laptop was sent to a computer pull. The things Megan deleted and all the things she did on the report in front of Susan. Susan had interviewed Megan and thought her methods seemed unorthodox at times. Sue would have never guessed that Megan was such a hindrance on the social government system they both were employed by. This was not a part of Susan's job she enjoyed by any means, but the dates not matching on the case that started this was the least of her coworker's problems. Susan had hoped the interviews she had seen were only that of a mother trying to get back at the system that had taken her child. Many complaints like this came through but most of the time they were from the dregs of society that abused their children. Tracy's interview was hard to watch and the fact that she wasn't the only one Susan had found a large number of complaints on Megan's computer she'd taken them from the state website.
Megan cared for two children in her home. Susan wanted badly to not have to do anything that was sent to her but the older child was over 7 years old and some medical information lead her to need to interview one Janet Callaway, Megan's niece. Susan didn't believe in coincidences like this. Megan appointed herself the case manager in several cases that were conflicts of interest that was very blatant. A story in an interview with Maxine Hall a neighbor of Megan's told of abuse of the little girl and doctor visits were far between but some of the injury wasn't "I was climbing a tree and fell" type injury. Her med network changed a few months ago and the child since being out of Megan's care did not come in with anymore "accidents" or "refusal of checkups" on record. Right after Mrs. Hall's report was posted and taken down by Megan the woman's son was taken out of their home. Then there is Glenn Dale Connor Megan and Logan's adoptive son, the little boy had his share of abuse at the hand of his birth mother. Susan knew with Glenn being under 7 she could not interview him and if what Susan suspected went on in that household she was sick as she combed his larger than he medical history. He missed a lot of his appointments and checkups this was bad. No medical visits of any kind after he was released from the hospital. No she didn't want him in the hospital ever again, but he needed a checkup because of his medical history.
Getting up she grabbed her rain coat and her recording equipment she had spoken to Megan's brother the male was very direct and told her if at any moment his daughter wanted to stop the interview that was the end. Susan was afraid of what she would hear. The interview with Tracy's son was one full of confusion and anger. It radiated off of him in waves. Megan had lied to his family and her reports made it so his mother could not continue care of him, even though it was proven that she had no part in the attempted murder of her offspring. The young male remembered the event and retold the story. Susan pulled up the original and his story didn't change. The adoptive parents were fighting to get the case reviewed not because they didn't want the young male, but as the adoptive mother said it was the right thing to do. No matter if Megan retained her positon or not, she would not be lead case manager for Tracy's son's case anymore. Susan was soon let into the huge gate of Markus Lucas Callaway's estate. Walking in she is greeted by a blonde woman that was in her mid to late 40s that held an infant. The large male that introduced himself as Mr. Callaway matched the baritone of the male she'd spoken to over the phone. He introduced the blond woman as Mrs Callaway and the woman says to call her Paula. They exchange pleasantries until the young lady named Janet comes in to the room. "Hello Janet my name is Susan Greene" The young lady's eyes were older than her 13 years as she introduced herself and held out her hand. "You know why I have come, correct?" the young lady said yes in a sure tone. This was a good start she hated to be a surprise when doing one of these.
Janet swallowed and looked over at her dad. He'd said if the woman made her unconfutable to let him know. This was about her aunt. For some reason this stranger wanted to know about her time living with her aunt. The woman was polite but Janet had a few question and concerns of her own. As they sit in the den and the Greene woman starts unpacking her laptop she hands her dad a piece of paper he reads it and shows it to her mama they both sign it. Alana started crying and her mama went to see if she could quiet her before she woke Katie. Gone were the days of it sounding like she was saying it. She was almost as loud as Katie now. Refocusing on the woman Janet sat at their dining room table and had to unclench her fist from the seat of her chair. "Can I ask you who told you I was there?" the woman said it wasn't protocol to give such information. In a level tone Janet says "Fine, then we are through here. If you can't tell me why all of a sudden something that has been between me and my aunt for so long is now coming out in strange people asking me about my time there, then I have nothing to say to you Ma'am." Her dad who had been leaning against the wall stood up. The woman stated that a Mrs. Max Hall had sent in a report. "My aunt said she had taken down Mrs. Hall's report before it could get reviewed?" The Hall family was the home of her first friend in Houston but he was taken away soon after her first trip to the clinic. Her aunt had bragged about getting the little boy, her friend Frederick taken. The woman started typing something and asked could they continue or was Janet still wishing to terminate the interview. Frederick Hall was her friend. The last time she'd heard anything about him from her Houston school friends was that he lived in a foster home somewhere in TX and wasn't adopted. "I'll do it." Two hours later Janet felt raw walking through memory lane wasn't fun, and her nerves were like someone had turned on a sand blaster. Being told to say she fell out of a tree one time when her aunt had held her upside down at the age of nine to paddle her backside two months after her mother had passed was her last story, she could do this no more. She wanted to take away the angry look in her dad's face because she remembered telling him that night in the living room when she was coming clean on the mean stuff her aunt did as discipline if only she had of told her dad back then and not believed she would get it worse. The only reason she was repeating it now was because the woman asked about the doctor's visit. The woman was speaking to her Janet used yet another tissue. Her dad asked again did she want to stop. The woman said this was the last question they had went through her time there in reverse chronological order "No dad." Miss Greene asked why she had to go to the clinic. Janet spoke and tore up the napkin. She told her dad about the upside down spanking but not about the clinic visit where her aunt made her dislike doctors for a really long time. "The day Fred's mom was talking about, was when my auntie took me to the clinic outside of my network. My ankle was sprained from her holding me upside down the night before. My Aunt Megan said it was my fault if I hadn't of been wiggling around she wouldn't have had to shake me to get me to stop blocking her swings but it hurt badly for a while, the next thing I knew I was on the bed waking up. I could hardly put any weight on it, I had to hop to the bathroom. She took me to the clinic the next afternoon. Fred's mom worked at the clinic and she asked me what happened, I tried to say the story that my aunt told me, but she pointed out that if I fell out of the tree why was there a bruise around my ankle, she asked me did I tie anything around my ankle, I just kept repeating the story. I was climbing in my tree out back and slipped and landed wrong. She said it was our secret since my aunt didn't even come back in the back with me, I begged her too but she said I was grown enough to disrespect her, I was grown enough to go back alone. I told Mrs. Hall what really happened. My aunt found out and shortly after that her and Mrs. Hall got into a fist fight in the front yard then Fred was taken away I thought he was arrested or something until my aunt told me about how she caught and deleted Mrs. Hall's report. Any time after that I tried to stay still and was glad when she couldn't lift me upside down anymore. She tried when I was 11 because I didn't get the dishes clean, but by then I was taller and could reach the floor with my hands so the added fear of falling on my head just wasn't there anymore."
Susan Greene left that house and soon was back in her car. It was clear the father had not heard of the medical visits outside of the medical network his insurance paid for his child. The young lady was well spoken, but you could tell where the confusion still lay in her mind about someone that was supposed to protect and love her. The interview displayed Megan's manipulative side, and the fact that she had caused such distress and harm to someone in her own family. As she'd been walked out to her car the father told her in a defensive tone that, had he known what was going on he would have not let his little girl stay in the home that long. Susan didn't doubt it for a second. Now to meet with Logan Conner, he was to meet her at one of his work sites. A home in Grandville South. Susan held no hope for a miracle. Logan Conner was very guarded. Susan knew she had to tread lightly with the adoptive father. She was ready to take her report to her boss she felt deep rooted sadness that that Megan had did so much. Pulling up in front of the home, Susan was prepared for his harsh tone that he used on the phone. She wasn't ready for the image that greeted her. The little underweight boy with the soulful expressions that she thought would haunt her forever, was riding a two wheeled bike with a dark haired teen running behind him. She got out of her car and the little boy must have remembered her, because he stared at her with the same fearful expression he had at the hospital and during her visit leading up to his adoption. The little girl grabbed the bike before the child ran headlong into the fence for not looking where he was peddling. The little girl yelled Logan and like a shot Logan Conner ran from the rear of the house and scooped up the little tike. Susan watched as Glenn Dale Conner clung to his adoptive father but stared at her. He whispered something in the man's ear and Logan turned his gaze from her to his son. When he said its ok and calls the young, short stuff some of the fear leaked out of his tense soulful eyes. "Have you adopted another child?" Susan asks with a smile at the teenaged girl. Logan says no and left the statement there. The young lady says she is a babysitter for Mr. Conner. "Does he employ you often?" The young lady says no.
"Okay Miss Greene let's start this so we can finish it" Logan felt numb the woman called him days after Tracy's little please forgive me routine. Glenny had a hold of his collar in the back so tightly he had to move his son up further on his hip to not have his shirt pulled down in back. He remembers the formality of the woman and how it affected his son's mood. She asked could she speak to Glenn. "Nikki can you take Glenny in the backyard for a spell?" Nikki says sure and reached for Glenny he went to her and asked to be put down and added please. His son was being a big boy. That phrase was still off limits to Glenny because of what Carla did to him when she called him a big boy. Nikki put him on his feet and he walked with her to the backyard. Taking the bike and putting it on the front porch for something to do with his energy more than to remove the bike from her path. "You're early, really early." Logan said while looking at his phone. She tries for some more of the nice weather we're having shit. "Excuse me, if I'm not interested in a casual conversation with you." Mark had called him and told him more of the shit he'd missed with Megan. Logan felt like shit because his niece didn't believe he would have intervened on her behalf. Two months after Nina died Megan had hurt Janet physically and started her manipulative blackmail. Logan had been doing a job in Ohio for a string of malls, he'd return days before Mark came off the road and like Mark believed the reason why Janet was limping. Logan remembered telling Janet to stay out of the tree until he finished the tree house. Greene started speaking and asking him questions. If this was the person Tracy encountered, he understood why she may have kept talking. Greene didn't verbally attack you, she asked questions and reminded him that she was recording his statement but other than that she was very non offensive with her style. He found himself thinking that Megan should have studied under this woman, Megan's approach was mostly you did it, and here is what we are going to do. After Susan's little verbal tap dance she asked once again to speak to Glenny and added that he was more than welcome to stay in the space they used in fact she recommended just that and that she just wanted to speak to him. Logan put up a hand and said he would have to ask someone about that part. Sophie gave him the green light. Logan called Glenny and he came running back from the back yard and stopped when he saw that the woman had not left. "Come here Partner."
Susan gave Glenny a set of toys as she spoke to him. She asked him did he like living in his new house with Mimi Meg and his Logan. Glenny looked at him then back at her and said he liked living with his daddy. Greene took that as him meaning Glenn senior and said Mr. Jacobs. Glenny said his Logan was his daddy. Greene asked him did Logan make him call him daddy. Logan tensed but stayed quiet. Greene met his glare with that even look she gave him during their conversation. Glenny squashed that line of questions with his childish logic about how his Janet had a daddy that was his uncle, so he named his Logan daddy. She asked questions about his daddy and then moved back to Megan. It ripped a hole in her to see that little boy grab the doll that was to represent himself up by the collar and drop him on the ground pointing to the downed doll saying the floor was the bed. Susan was fighting back tears as she listened to the little boy speak. She wished she could go back to talking about Logan Conner then Glenn would pick up himself and hold him and dance the thing across the floor and says nice things but this was her job.
Glenny picked up his Glenny and says in a mean higher than his normal voice "You drop it on my car pet I push in the let in" and persist to taking off his flip flop and hitting his him on the rear-end with the sandal as he laid across his Meg's lap with her holding his hands behind his back. Tears rush to his eyes as he says "I bad I run, but her got me I bad. Mimi Meg so mad at me she fall me. On my bed. Cuss, I not hug her no more. I not want to." His daddy asked did he see his Iron Man signal. "Uh huh I sorry Daddy. I not mean to hurt you I was bad." His daddy picked him up he stuck his face in his daddy's shirt. "You gonna take my Iron Man away? Cuss, I was bad?" He cried
Logan looked at Greene and made a slashing motion with his free hand telling her silently their little play time was over. "Hey. Hey. Sport don't cry ok. You spilled Ice cream. Is that why you told Candy you didn't like it no more?" Glenny hiccupped sniffled and nodded his head. "You can like Ice-cream you didn't throw it on the carpet did you?" He raised his head and said no he like it and it got off the cone before he could lick it. Logan laughed in spite of the serious sorrowful expression his son wore. "How about when we finish work I take you to the ranch and you can have the last chocolate one in the freezer your uncle Mark left it just for you. I need to talk to Miss Greene you and Nikki go grab your toys and head to the truck ok." Glenny nodded. He ruffles his son's hair his signal that he was about to set him on his feet Glenny touched ground and took off towards the backyard with Nikki on his heels. Sighing he looks back at Greene she says he was very good with the little boy and that he needed to get Glenny up on his checkups and shots. "So you're really here just to interview us, not take him away?" She asked did he wish her to because of the stress of the pending divorce. "No he's finally getting some kind of sleep, he's gaining back the weight he should have been at by now. He feels safe with me, that's been one hell of a process to get him to feel safe with anyone that's over three feet tall except his cousin Janet. He's more talkative as you can tell for yourself." He remembered sitting in her office signing paperwork and watching Glenny retreat into himself. She asked about Nikki. "She is almost 15 she has taken child development / CPR classes and has her food handler's cards from the health department." Greene seemed impressed and asked when she received the cards. "She got the classes in school I had asked her if she wanted to babysit and since Glenny was sickly before, I wanted to make sure she could care for him or get him aid in my absence." Logan held out the camera shot of Nicole's completed babysitter status. She asked how long he usually left Glenn in Nicole's care. "With certain jobs about 4 hours. I never leave him over night with her because she is still a child. Her guardian watches him if I have anything that will have me overnighting it anywhere. I have worked my schedule to be more present I have hired more foremen to work the jobs out of town. Yes, sometimes I will have to go but I try my best to be with him every night." Moments later she says her goodbyes and waves at Glenny who is hiding under his croc watching her from the truck window. Nikki got out of the truck but left the door open and says were they really going soon. "Yes" Logan had some research to do, Glenny had said his signal was on if that was so. Then he was going to find out what Megan and now Glenny had referenced while he was away doing the LEGNA project. He was honestly afraid of what he would see. Glenny's demonstration was hard enough to watch.
Logan dropped off Nikki at Candy's home. Candy came to his window and asked about the Interview. Looking back at his son, Glenny was asleep taking drives usually put him out like a light. Logan sighed and gave her the long and short of it. The look on Candy's face when he described watching the Glenny demo of Megan's actions toward him over some fucking Ice cream was pent-up rage. "I know I just can't believe she would do this shit, it was bad enough the shit I missed with Janet and apparently there was more that Mark and I both missed. I told Megan about picking him up but hitting him be it not in the face, but hell he's been hit everywhere else. Megan wondered why he stuck close to me when I was home. I couldn't be there and do my job the woman said for me to get him a checkup since he hasn't had treatment of any kind since he was released from the hospital. I am going back to the ranch after she get out of school tomorrow I need Nikki to keep him over here because I'm going to knock out that back porch it had wood rot and I don't want him back there with me swinging a sledge hammer and he really shouldn't be there with all the dust and stuff flying around in the air." Candy says if he wanted to get started early tomorrow she would take Glenny and he could just stop back by and pick him up tomorrow evening. "Something tells me you got some new clay or wanting to order Pizza. Please, all I ask is don't mess up the Iron Man shirt. Pizza I can get out that clay was not coming out. He loves that shirt I could just run and pick him up an outfit. Candy says she could do the same thing and tells him he looked tired. Turning in his seat Logan moves the crocodile and Glenny squeezes it but opens his eyes. "Hey Short stuff do you want to spend the night with Candy, Nikki, and Deon?"
Glenny put his finger to his lips and looks over at Candy through the window. "Can I still have my ice cream? Uncle Mark save me." Candy said she had Ice-cream bars and was making tacos. "With chips?" Candy nodded Glenny tries to take the chest harness off that kept him in his seat "Daddy I have to eat the tacos." His dad reached back and unclipped the bar he never could get open he could lock it by himself but getting the thing off was hard. His dad says that it sounded like he liked tacos more than the catfish nuggets and green beans he had planned." Glenny stood on the back seat and put his hand on his dad's shoulder and says "Daddy I like tacos"
Candy opens the back door and watched Glenny hug his daddy. Candy knew he didn't like to climb down because of the size of the truck compared to his size. She put out her arms and told him to grab Mr. Crocodile. Glenny grabbed his toy and walked across the seat. He did it every time but she understood the reason behind the action he hugged his toy with one arm and let her pick him up he grabbed on to her shirt until she bent and put him down. He waved at Logan and ran to knock on her heavy to him door, so Nikki would let him in. Candy turns back to Logan hey you look 12 types of tired call me to let me know you made it to wherever your crashing tonight. He says will do and starts up the truck she pats the door and walks back in to her home.
Susan was wrecked by the time she drove to the Conner home to meet with Megan. Getting out she wanted to get this last interview out of the way. Knocking on the door she looks at her watch. Megan opened the door and something wasn't right but she shook off the feeling as she walked inside. Megan was wearing Jeans and a paint covered men's muscle shirt. She had never seen the woman in anything less than a blouse. "I won't take up a lot of your time. You seem to be keeping very busy. Megan asked her did she want a water. "No I think I'm okay." Susan taps her Laptop case. Megan says her office. "Okay" she follows Megan to her home office. Susan asks question and types Megan's responses she claimed that Janet was melodramatic and that none of that stuff happened, and that Glenny was only 3 and had a very active imagination. Susan sits back in her seat and looks at her coworker. She asked about the reports and the children taken from their homes that seemed to be linked to her personally. Megan rose and Susan closed her laptop. "Mrs. Connor please a have seat." Megan asked her was she her last interview. "Megan you know I can't answer that? Now can you please just have a seat this is your only shot to discredit these allegations. Do you wish to continue, if so have a seat?" Megan sits back down and since her bravado wasn't working she turned on the water works and blamed it all on her husband that beat on her niece and herself, so instead of calling the police she would defend herself. "So, you are stating on record, that Logan Conner your husband, beat on your niece and yourself. Has he harmed Glenn Dale Conner as well?" Megan teared up and said yes and ranted on about a woman named Angela Davenport and how Susan should check that little baby she had for drugs saying the newspapers didn't say it but she knew the woman was high on something most of her pregnancy. Susan was an older woman with an established career, but when not interviewing lying filth, her guilty pleasure was rocking out to Angelic Impression and now Personal Touch. The sound changed but the merger of hometown local band merged well with homegrown Lead singer. "I will check into it. Now I have one more question if you knew of such abuse why wait until now to reveal it? Was that the reason for the protective order her council placed on you? Megan I want you to think really hard before you ask me to continue this pursuit." Megan put Susan in a corner by calling it a good faith observation. "Okay I will check into it. "Susan stood and packed up her equipment. "You will receive a letter within two days." Megan asked what would happen to her son. Susan stopped moving. "Megan I will have to submit the things you have revealed into my report and more than likely Glenn will be place in a foster home. If Logan Conner was beating on all of you. You should have reported it before now. He claims when Janet was hurt the most he was in other cities and as for Glenn his safety comes into question." Susan walked with Megan to the front door she hit her unlock button. Megan asked what was on her key ring. Susan bawled the symbol up into her fist. "Nothing of great significance."
Megan walked the woman to the front door as she is about to open the door the woman rearranges her key ring to hit her unlock button Megan's eyes narrow this bitch was a fan of Angel's old band she knew that fucking symbol Janet had it plastered all over her fucking walls when she lived here. Megan stops the door from opening as she blocks it with her body. Susan's eyes narrow. "So Susan You really going to do your job and investigate Angel Davenport or will my report get lost from here to the car?" Susan squares her shoulders and asks Megan to please remove herself from the exit. Megan tilts her head to the side with a smirk. She was freaking the older bitch out. "Do you have children Susan?" Susan says her offspring are not a part of their current situation. "That's where you're wrong. Children are very important to every situation. You will not take my son to a foster home you can bring him here with me." Susan shook her greying brown hair no. "You signed the paperwork saying he is my son. I tell you that my husband is abusive and you say you will check into it. He could be hurting him right now, but he has you and our families fooled. Did you see him today?" Susan tells Megan to move. Anger spiked "You know the last little bitch that told me to move I put her on her ass. Want to join the club Suzy? As a matter of fact, here have some floor for your trouble. Susan steps back before Megan can push her and tells Megan her job is hanging by a thread and if she continues this it will only result in her being fired and fined. "You know you're right I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry." Megan walks away from the door pass her coworker. Susan advances forward and tries the door, and tells Megan to unlock the door. "It's unlocked all you do is turn the knob." Megan says casually as she hits the auto lock they'd installed so Glenny couldn't just walk out the front door into the street.
The door was locked Susan turned back around at a rustle of clothing and a clicking sound her eyes widen in fear as she stares into the business end of a metallic pink 9mm berretta. "Are you insane put that thing down? You're out on bail. Megan please you asked do I have children yes. Please don't do anything that you will regret later." Megan tells her to hand over her phone and now, or she will have a mess to clean up. Swallowing hard Susan reaches in her pocketbook, her hand closed around the mace her husband gave her. She lets it go when Megan steps closer and grabs her purse and laptop bag off of her shoulder and tosses them on the sofa.
Megan points her new gun that she had bought off a kid in downtown Dallas on her way home. She had it on her in the waistband of her jeans the whole time just throw one of Logan's shirts on and instant concealment. She liked the fear in the old bitch's face served her right. "Sit where you stand." Megan lowers the gun as the woman sits on her rug in front of her door. "You come in here twice you interviewed me twice. You think I don't know your plan you were going to get me fired weren't you?" Once again with the shaking of the head. "You want to take away my Glenny. You like my husband don't you?" She says she is only doing her job. She has no like or dislike for the male. "No you are trying to ruin my life. I finally get a baby and now you want to take him from me." Susan says Megan can't hold her here like this her interview wasn't scheduled for a long period of time. "You're right you don't have a lot of time. Get up and I'm telling you if you try any hero shit even if you wearing a vest which you're not, I could still shoot you in the face. You're going to fix this or you're leaving here in a trash bag."
Susan gets to her feet. Slowly though her mind raced for a plan of escape. Most of the reports she'd already submitted. "I have to call Jack you know the infield status rule better than I do." Megan asked how long she'd been in the field today. "My first meeting was at 10 this morning." Megan thought about it and then asked had she called in before she came here. Since Megan would see her log she admitted that no she had listed this as her last interview and expected time of completion was 18:45. Susan speaks out of a place of the betrayal she was feeling and hoped that these weren't her last words. "Megan, I helped you get Glenn Dale and this is how you repay me? For some reason you think I'm the only one that can affect your status. I'm not your boss, I didn't call you in Jack did. I spend almost as much time in the field as you do. About 72 hours in a month. If the roles were reversed there is no way I would even consider pointing a weapon of death at you and I surly wouldn't be ready to throw my life away by killing you. I was there, I watched you interact with that little boy and he trusted you more than any of the staff. Megan if you kill me you think the state is going to let you have him in prison with you? Logan Conner has an arrest on his record at the beginning of this case that you and I fought side by side to get the charges dropped. I'm sorry he abused you but I didn't know. You said fix this tell me how?"
Megan saw the little speech for what it was Susan was giving her the old we are on the same level bullshit but Megan was too smart for her. "Shut up you have to do what I say. I say we move this into Logan's office." She follows Susan into the empty office. Susan blinks rapidly. "Yeah, I know it stinks He always said he would put a window in but never got around to it then when we got central air he just kind of put it on the back burner. Give me your car keys." Susan says that her car is wired for sound. "Duh, so I won't say anything" Susan hands over the only thing she'd been holding to keep her hands from shaking. Megan takes the ring of keys and glares at the Angelic Impression Symbol. "Have a seat" Susan looks around at the plastic and paint and says there are no chairs. "Sit where you stand." Once again Megan follows Susan's motion with her gun as she sits on the floor. "Here is a little mind easer Logan never beat on me." Susan asked what she was going to do to her. "Me nothing if you stay put. I will fix this and save my job and possibly get my family to like me again." Megan says as she backs out of the room and locks Susan in.
Megan helped herself to Susan's computer that Jack let her get away with just having it open by clicking her photo? Susan was horrible with passwords and Jack got tired of having to unlock her computer. Megan puts her gun back in her waistband and gets to work she opens Susan's files and is shocked that the shit was already submitted from there. She reads comments and the interviews when she reached Logan and Glenny's tears streamed down her face. She had to fix her relationship. She knew that it would start soon. Susan wiggled the locked doorknob and started begging her to let her out. Megan gets up and says "If you're good I'll turn on the air. If you keep up the noise I'll make you very sorry." The knocking continues. Megan walks to the thermostat and turned on the heat. Walking to the couch she was going to make Susan sorry for keeping up such noise. "Fine beat all you want. My hands won't be the ones bruised." She screams as she turns on the radio and starts singing along with it as she typed and tried to undo Susan's work.
Susan takes off her suit coat she'd stopped tapping on the door when she knew no one would be able to hear her over the loud music that pumped through the house's system. It was very hot in this little closed up room. Sweat ran on her like she'd been running a marathon. Wiping her neck and her face she unbuttons the top button on her shirt. The hotter it got the stronger the paint smell got. Minutes later the room was spinning. Her head hurt, she lays down near the door with her face near the crack at the bottom though there was air in the room it was very stuffy she felt a small breeze on her face. "Megan please." Even to her own ears she knew something was very wrong. She lifts her head and blackness claims her.
Man it was getting hot in here Megan opens the window. The old bitch had stopped beating on the door so she turned down the radio. She had done all she could, the system kept asking her was she sure. "Yes damn it, I'm sure." Hitting send for the Report that she doctored it rejected it. All that work all the corrections for nothing. It asked for Susan's case name she knew if she got it wrong the system would shut her out. She looks over at the purse. Taking Susan's phone out she opens it and there were three missed calls it was on vibrate so Jack had been calling great, just what she needed. She had to get the heifer away from her house. Pulling her gun, she gets up and walks to the door. "If you try to attack me I'll shoot I swear. I need your case file na…" Megan pushes the door open and it hit something looking down Susan was half dressed out cold on the floor. She nudges the woman with her foot no response. From the ring of water around her and the fact that her clothing was soaked Megan needed to call Logan he could help her fix this oh god he just had to. She backs out of the room.
Pacing the length of the living room Megan waits for Logan to answer. The moment he answers with a terse what? Megan starts speaking and walking as fast as she spoke. "Logan I tried to fix it I really did. I don't know what to do. She came here an interviewed me and OH Logan I'm so sorry I blamed you, but I tried to fix it. Really I did she said that if I what I said was true then she would take our boy. I told her the truth but she had already typed it into her report. I think she's dead. I don't know, I scared her and made her go in your office and locked her in and tried to change the report I was just trying fix it. I can't even get back in the program because I don't have the code. Now I can't change it what am I going to do.?" He breathed heavily down the line and she thought she heard a shudder in his breathing. "Logan I'm Sorry"
Logan was sitting in the bedroom he'd picked for himself at Mark's ranch when Megan called he just asked what because he'd seen the video of what she'd done to his child. Just when he'd thought he'd saw her worse his wife kept proving him wrong. He didn't want any more proof. Now she'd gone and threw his name in the mud again, and ran an even higher risk of getting Glenny taken for good. Logan saw red as he bolts from the chair. "YOU WHAT! Wait first you lie on me again." Logan's emotional grid had collapsed in on itself as his entire body shook with rage. "You slung him by the back of his shirt standing a good 2 feet away from the bed. Did it make you feel good hearing him scream and seeing the fear and pain in his eyes? If you had the sense god gave a patch of dirt instead of standing outside the door you wouldn't have thrown him like a sack of fucking of garbage in the first place." She says he was being unfair she was better than Carla. "Oh yeah. You brag that you are better than Carla. No you didn't throw him on the floor or poison him, and or even chain him to the dog house, what the fuck do you want a cookie? You were hired into a position to stop the monsters from hurting children, yet you do your best to be what you are supposed to be defending the innocent and the weak against. It's good you can't have any kids." She says she would never hurt Glenny. "You're three times his size, you used adult strength to restrain him in a position that could break his fucking arms, he screamed in pain before you even started hitting him. Why did you punish him like that Megan, and don't say it was because of the spilled Ice-cream? He told the story to Susan and he's going to remember that shit for a long time. You threw me in the mix telling him he was bad so Logan was going to take his gifts back." Megan says he spilled the ice cream and after she spanked him Glenn Dale tried to crawl through the doggie door away from her. "You beat on him there is a difference. When he did the demo he pulled off the little flip flop I thought maybe you got one but the leather sole thing you had on would have hurt way more when he stood there trying to catch his breath you advanced on him he freaked out and ran. The reason he was holding himself like that he wasn't hugging himself you put a lot pressure on his shoulders holding him like that, then to grab him using his own damn shirt as a choke chain you could have broken his fucking neck." She says his name and called him melodramatic. "Why the fuck are you calling me?" She says she loves him and she's really sorry and to listen, that they could be in real trouble. "We. You love no one, not me, not Glenny, not Janet, not Mark, no one. Whoever you were when we first got together that is the Red I married, the new you I don't know and don't want to. That woman had to be in her late 50s how did you scare her?" Megan says she is the same person and she loves them all that's why she bought a gun and had planned to scare the woman away from her computer then fix the shit so they could still have Glenny and she could still have her job. She said she figured she had everything under control until she walked in and hit Susan's body with the door. A calm stole over Logan and his voice that had been loud and pitched evened out. He wondered night after night if he after her attack had anything left in him to forgive her and try to make it work, but just like she went out and bought a gun that Susan didn't know she had, a shiver ran down his spine she could have done worse to him and his son. "You got everything covered, you're no plaything remember. Every time I tell you to do something you never listen to me, so what would be the difference. I am so fucking tired of you and everyone saying I'm sorry. Yeah, well Megan I don't give a flying fuck what you do anymore. Like I told you before, my role in your corner as your moral compass is not what I signed up for when I said I do. You say we are in trouble no I am going to call the police and you can do whatever the fuck you want to. If by some chance that woman survives and allows me to keep my son, you will never see us again. Goodbye Miss Callaway." Logan hung up as she started crying. He called his dad and told him what Megan had done and asked him to please send help. His dad said he would make sure to warn his men that she was armed. Chief Conner asked was the firearm his. "No she said she bought it in town mine is still in my glove compartment." His dad tells him he will handle it.
Megan heard sirens Logan had called the police on her, she ran into Logan's office and bends down, the old bitch had to be alive. She does tap & shout, and just starts beating on the woman's body. Screaming "wake up damn it." This was getting her nowhere the bitch was dead. Just great her, husband was pissed because he saw what she did. She knew Glenny was a landmine topic with him, she should have made sure that damn system was off. He wanted her to go to jail he called the police on her, she wasn't staying in this fucking house. She grabs Susan's keys and dashes out to her car and drives off the midsized car had more power under the hood than her Dodge Stealth. She pulled over with the stopping traffic to let the barrage of cruisers pass. She thanked god for the tinted windows and the state seal on the license plate. She just had to get away. So you're on the run all because you thought Logan would help you. "Stop okay Fuck" Megan had spoken out loud to herself. Susan's car was wired for sound. Something pinged she put her foot to the floor when she got on the highway.
Back at Logan and Megan's home Chief Brian Butch Connor sent a team into the house in full riot gear. His nephew RJ Kinkaid a Sheldon Med Crew Captain went in after the team gave him clearance to do so. Butch stood in the living room and watched RJ's back he was one of the youngest to make Med Crew Captain. RJ gives orders to his crew and after few a minutes walks back out of the little room that used to be Logan's home office. "Well how is she?"
RJ walks over to the thermostat "Can you have your men turn this down? I'm not trying to mess up your scene but it's hotter than hell in there. She has a pulse, its weak we are working to cool her down it looks like she passed out from heatstroke. If we had of waited any longer she would be dead now. She's still not out of the woods I'm going to Airlift her to Sheldon Center here in Houston. She has a history of asthma and with the paint fumes rolling in there it's a wonder we got her breathing at all. No one's seen Red?" RJ watches as his uncle shakes his head curtly in the negative. He returns to the room he'd shared a many beer with his cousin Logan in. Red was in deep shit if this chick died. "What's her Temp?" one of his men says 103.2 and falling but 103 point anything was dangerous.
Megan had to hide out, it was dirty of her but what else could she do? Turn yourself in. her mind teased. Logan's words kept playing over and over in her head. You were hired into a position to stop the monsters from hurting children yet you do your best to be what you are supposed to be defending the innocent and the weak against. He'd called her a monster. Logan didn't love her anymore. Her own little boy was afraid of her. She hadn't noticed Glenny had started withdrawing again. The signs were there flashing like beacons. On the 20th she'd asked him for a hug and he ran to give her one. He ate only when she made him, no matter what she made. He stayed out of her office when she was working where usually she would have to yell at him to go play. On a few days he was so quiet she got up and went to make sure he wasn't getting into anything but he was being a good boy, or so she'd thought. She'd crept to his bedroom door and he'd been curled around his crocodile talking to the thing. He answered her question of are you ok and he'd nod or say yes Mimi Meg, and she would go back in her space and he would stay in his. Megan drove onto a dirt road. Her husband wanted a divorce, her son was afraid of her. Her big brother was done with her. Mark told her at the baby shower that she was pushing him in a corner and she supposed she had. She'd busted up that baby shower and pushed Angel to the floor, she'd tried to grab her but missed. That had lead Angel to get a protective order against her of which she broke by calling her and threatening her. Angel had said she was recording and Megan couldn't control her damn mouth. Angel had forgiven her right before Mark's wedding and been dealing with her own personal hell and with all that shit Megan said and did to her. Angel forgave her. If Megan was truthful with herself, she would have told herself to fuck off, but her younger cousin gave her another chance. Everyone tried to give her chances to deal correct and she kept fucking it up. Janet wouldn't ever want to be around her anymore. The barrage of sights and sounds of the past 4 years played through her mind's eye. The images hurt, because she'd read Janet's interview when trying to fix it, and Janet hadn't forgot any of it. It was good Nina was dead and in heaven with her parents because her actions would disgust them all at what she'd done to her own kin, and a little boy that needed her. Logan's face as of late not including the worry lines she'd added was either etched in anger or sorrow in her mind's eye. She pulled under a tree in the park that her Logan and Tracy used to ditch school in. Seeing the red light on the dash with a mic symbol made her think of the dead woman that now lay in her home. Susan had kids she'd looked her up that's why Magen asked, because she knew the answer. Hell Susan was her friend on Facebook. With friends like you who the fuck needs enemies? Her mind taunted in Tracy's voice. She speaks to the mic. "I'm sorry to Susan's family, she was a good work mate, she helped me get my son, I fucked it all up it wasn't her fault. I didn't shoot her but she's dead because of me. I locked her in a windowless room and turned the heat as high as it would go."
Tears ran down her cheeks. Logan had said on a few occasions that she could have seriously hurt or killed people with her actions. Now her actions had caused her to now have a body count of one. Thinking of how he sounded after he saw the video of Glenny, she knew she was wrong for lying on him. "Please who ever plays this recording please know that Logan Conner is a good man, that would NEVER hurt his family. I lied on him okay he NEVER hit me or my niece, or our little boy. I'm Sorry Babe." She gets out of the car and walks along the trail looking for their tree. It was the first place they kissed. She found the tree their names were still visible. Even in high school Logan knew his way around a carving tool. A small sad smile touches her face at the memory as she runs her finger over the wooden symbol of his love. Logan had carved their names into a huge Oak tree because his dad refused to let him get a tattoo with her name across his chest at 16. So in a Roman script he'd expertly carved LOGAN "DA TRAIN" CONNER & MEGAN "MY RED" CALLAWAY. She was his fiery Red. He was the track team Captain for their high school and nothing but his Red could stop Da Train. You stopped him alright, you could have killed him when you busted him in the back of his head and left him at home alone injured. He was more hurt that you left him alone than the fact that you busted him open. Her mind teased. Megan socked herself in the head. "SHUT UP" She growls loudly at herself. Hearing footsteps and thinking it's the police she climbs her and Logan's tree. It was the best cover she had. Megan looked down not making a sound. A group of boys walk through the clearing towards her tree. Tucking her knees up to her chest sitting on the largest bough she could find she lowers her head.
"Man I swear I saw her I mean she's got a little taller over the summer I guess. Now I'm out on bail and my parents are about to lose the company to that father of hers. That little girl is gonna see me again, she kept missing her lesions." The other two guys laughs. "Hey If I'm going to prison I'll have a better reason than criminal harassment and statutory rape, the girl I got caught with Audrey won't say nothing that little girl knows what I'll do, she still goes to school here I told her if she talks at my trial I have her head cut off. Taker's girl got my parents all worried his lawyer got them in court. My parents mad at my twin sister because of the shit they deal with in Bobbi's civil case. So now Taker's lawyer is bleeding my parents dry all because Janet told on us and now she isn't in FastTrack anymore. I heard she got kicked out of Houston public school. I told her my parents are powerful, my dad got her kicked out of FastTrack that Dean wrote up the paper in front of my dad as a favor. Now FastTrack is at risk of closing because Taker's attorney is taking legal action against the school. So yeah I want a piece of that bitch where the hell did she go? Taker will stop going after my parents when I take out his kid."
Megan covers her face Janet wasn't being melodramatic, this little sicko had been terrorizing her. You telling Janet to stop being melodramatic made your niece think she had no one to turn to so through fear of that sick fuck she stopped going to school because she felt targeted and you punished her for it. With only your own preconceived reasons to go on. She wasn't becoming a little reckless teenager she was running in fear. She never told you even with all the beating and screaming. The first chance she got she went to Mark's home where she felt safe and loved, that is where she stayed. Maybe if you didn't confuse Respect with fear, If you hadn't wanted her fear more than her love, she would have been more comfortable telling you. Wiping her eyes her mind was really giving it to her with both barrels today. The boys keep going down the trail. Her hiding place had worked. They thought she was Janet.
Megan didn't want her niece back in Huston until that sick asshole was dealt with. She dialed her brother's number. "Please answer" she whispers "Mark please answer." The line picked up and his auto response kicked in that her number was blocked unless she had his code which she didn't. Megan had to get word out and the only other person that popped in her head may have blocked her as well. You earned all of their fear and none of their respect. "Mark doesn't fear me he hates me there is a difference." Megan says aloud. Yeah he fears you will hurt his little image of Nina more than you already have. He doesn't trust you anymore with your trick to get Janet afraid of him you broke an unrepairable trust he had in you. Her mind gave her Mark's words and for the first time with the audio illusion she heard the hurt in his tone. You the person I trusted that would keep my girl safe. You had to know you were going too far or you wouldn't have blackmailed her into silence. Tried your hardest to make me out to be someone to fear in my own girl's eyes. Why because you were mad. Truthfully if you had of done what you said you did. I wouldn't be happy about you swatting her. I would have still let you see her, she would not have lived with you no more, but after a time I would have cooled down. Finding out all the shit you've done and then to top it off you try to turn Janet against me and taint her faith in me and Paula. He would have cooled down it's his way, but you attacking his fragile link with his child with that text opened up all the shit you did. You started this snow ball rolling down the mountain you put Janet in a position to tell even if she believed she would get it worse. Megan looked around she'd been trapped in her thoughts. Stretching out her legs that were hurting because of her odd position in the tree. She calls Logan. He doesn't want to speak to you. With a shudder in her tone she says "Yeah well it won't matter anymore he's never going to let me back into his heart, but I can't just not tell someone what I just heard."
If she didn't have the interview today a few times she thought of just ending it. If she was dead the voices would have to stop. It wouldn't be the first time she thought of suicide. When her Rosa Angela Callaway her momma died Megan stood on their roof with arms stretched out about to just fall backwards but Logan had called her to tell her that he had got a new contract her wanting to hear his voice one last time saved her life. When she first found out she couldn't have kids she started her old habit of cutting. Logan was depressed because he really wanted to be a father kind of make up for his twin that didn't survive. He loved kids they went to therapy together and everything was okay, then Nina died and there was a child in their home. On some level Megan wanted Janet to be hers she asked 9-year-old Janet to call her momma, and Janet said but you're my auntie. That was the trigger Megan knew she would never be a momma. Even Glenny called her Mimi not mommy. She wondered if she would have continued to hurt Glenny until he called her mommy. That was scary. Just when her world was calming down or so she thought. Angel handed her a baby shower invite and holding that piece of cardstock reminded her of the miscarriage she had that lead to her doctor telling her that she couldn't have children. Seeing Angel get bigger and the fact that without all the stage makeup her cousin looked like her. Megan snapped and lashed out at Angel she'd thought Angel was throwing it in her face so her world spiraled in seconds she flipped the switch and let out her beast and this time Angel didn't argue or fist fight with her at Mark's house. You lost your mind she retreated and you followed her, Paula told you to let her alone. Angel was still trying to honor the truce and rebuild of your kinship. You pulled her off that truck and thought it was go time until she freaked out and sprayed you. Logan told you to fix it Jonathon warned you to leave her alone and you crashed her party and stalked her, Angel's fear fed your inner beast like a 10 course meal. When she tried to escape you blocked her path, pushed her down. Seeing her curled up on the floor gave you a rush finding out she was still pregnant pissed you off. Then you got served with the protection order. You would no longer be able to "FIX" her and now she's had the child and you try to get it taken in your exit interview. Your momma is turning in her grave for the stunts you pulled with your own kin. No one is safe with you. She'd zoned again and Logan's voicemail system had ended the call.
Logan called his dad and asked had Megan called in to get the woman help. His dad told him the situation. Susan Greene was in the hospital in critical condition and Megan was on the run. "She might come here she doesn't know I'm here and the ranch is usually empty." His dad tells him to lock the doors and don't let her in if she comes, to call the police. "If she get within 120 feet of this place you'll get a call from his system. I engaged Mark's alarm after she called me." He'd tried at every turn to stop her from getting hurt even after he vowed that he was done. He'd held a small morsel of hope that she would have done the right thing. Though he'd meant what he said to her he wasn't going to let her hurt him or his son anymore but that didn't mean that he wanted to see her get hurt. Dad if you find her please remember she's sick. I don't know what happened but this depravity level is way different from how she used to be." His father tells him that he pulled her record and has declared her mentally ill and that they would try to bring her in but not at the expenses of her killing anyone. "Thanks dad." Logan gets a voicemail because he hadn't answered the phone while talking to his dad. It sounded like running water and birds chirping. Checking the number that called his phone it was Megan's phone.
Since Megan didn't get through he wouldn't answer the phone she sent him a text. At least she could thank him for loving her for as long as he dared. You didn't deserve his love you never have. "Please stop" she cries. This was their tree. She wished she was different but the voices would never leave her alone and she had to stop them before her body count climbed. Her mind played in an endless loop all the fights and threats she waged against people that if she had given them the chance they would have loved her or continued loving her. You stopped loving you a long time ago Meg Pie she looks down at the broken heart that Logan had given her that Tracy had broken in their fight. Her alarm dinged for her to take her med. Maybe it would shut up the voices in her head and stop the images. She looks at the bottle takes off the cap and starts eating them like candy the foul taste of busting the capsules own made her wince. She looked down at the ground and then took a pic from above of Logan's carving the angle sucked but she wanted him to know that she loves him. She attaches the picture then puts the phone to her mouth speaks and watches her words scroll across the text screen.
Megan: (Picture of his carving on the tree.) "Logan I'm not going to bother you or Glenny or any of our family anymore. The drugs just make me sleepy. They don't fix me. I took the rest of them I can't do this anymore. I can't do this to you. I don't want to live in a world where you hate or fear me. I hope me telling Susan that Angel was on drugs while pregnant gets swept, as the ranting of a spiteful person and goes no further. I know what is behind my hate of her she looks like me so transference was at work. I hate me and she looks like me. I was jealous of her. When she got pregnant and I started seeing how I could have looked with child. I wanted to take her out. I hated her even more when she got bigger even after I pushed her down. Seeing those pictures on Jonathon's page on Christmas Eve just made me more ready to take her out. I hacked his page and saw her. Glenn coming over and I know you don't want to hear this, but Glenn coming over it was like we had a common enemy. She was having our baby. Thank you for stopping me from possibly putting my uncle in a positon that would have made him blow my ass away. Yes I was his niece way before he had Angel, but I'm not dumb enough to believe that he would have stood back and let me kill her in front of him. Our family has been through so much that would have put a wedge in between him and Mark. The night I knocked you out and went after Glenny I'm sorry that I left you, I know that's what hurt you the most, you could have died that night. I'm glad your dad found you. Janet and Glenny could have died the few times I was too rough with them. I've finally killed someone. After I got off the phone with you I checked and left her cooling body in your home office. You are right I don't deserve children. My treatment of Janet and Glenny proved that. No I'm not as bad as Carla I was fucking worse. She was abusing him and she hurt him physically and more than I did in a way but like you said I was put in place and trusted by the state, Glenn, and Susan to care for him and I failed him." Megan apologized for hurting everyone and told of the danger Janet would be in if she came back to Houston and that little sicko kid found her. "Protect her Logan please tell Mark the kid thought I was Janet." She explained that Paula was really good for Mark and Janet and how she felt threatened when her big brother was about to get remarried and lashed out at him and his future bride. She told him everything that was inside of her no matter how depraved it sounded and looked on her screen. She ended it with "Logan if this doesn't work don't try to save me let me go. I'm dangerous to everyone. I hope one day you can forgive me. Thank you for loving me. If given the chance, please tell your son that his Mimi did love him. Tell Tracy that I'm going to do the world a favor or at least the people in it before I hurt anyone else any worse and my body count rises higher. I'm getting sleepy. I'm sorry for all I have put you all through. I love you baby Goodbye Logan "Da Train" Conner"
He soon gets a series of consecutive text messages that had him wanting to once again save her from herself. He called his father back. "Dad I know where she is. She in the park up near our old place. I don't want her to hurt anyone and I want don't her hurt I'm going to try to call her back." His father tells him not to try to go be a fucking hero. Logan heard the underlying fear in his father's tone that he was going to white horse it over to the park and try to confront in her person. "No, because if she snaps and kills my ass then Glenny would have to go into the system and that's only assuming he gets to stay with me at all."
Megan hit send and climbed higher in the tree. The boys were coming back she'd hoped they did. Christopher Jo Price the little fucker that had hurt and scared her niece she yelled at him. "Hey Chris Jo up here bitch" The male looked up and smirked his friends smirked as well "Don't mess with Janet or else." He says or else what. "Or else I kill you today." He says he and his boys would get the bitch and make her old ass watch. "Wrong answer" Pointing her gun at him his eyes get large as he sees her pink gun. Saying she wouldn't shoot him he was a child. Megan you are already in deep shit stop now. "I didn't listen when you told me to stop hitting Glenny, I didn't listen when you told me not to throw the paint thinner. Why should I listen now? I've already killed someone today shut up, and let me have this one time to do right by a child." The boys were standing there with their mouths open staring her. Megan tilts her head to the side she didn't mind gaining this asshole's fear. "Your 18 welcome to adulthood. So are you going to still make me watch you hurt Janet?" Chris Jo begs her to please not hurt him. "Please lady." She mocks him "You didn't answer my question" she fires a shot over his head and he and friends take off back down the trail she fires at his retreating back. Damn it he was fast and kept zigzagging all over the place she'd about unloaded the clip she was a horrible shot she had one more shot and nailed him he fell and his friends kept running and screaming.
Her phone rings she drops the now empty gun. It was Logan's ring tone a thrill of excitement ran through her. He was calling her. She held the phone up to her face it was really hard for her to see the screen she swiped it to reject his call. He deserved to be safe from her beast. Tears streamed down her face as she said on a choked sob "Logan I'm sorry thank you for loving me" and pushed herself free of the tree as hard as she could backwards the trip was quick, extreme pain shoots through her whole body. This is what you deserve to die here alone. She lay looking up at the clearing between the trees. Her phone was still ringing with Logan's ringtone. He was calling her back.
