Chapter 33
It's Complicated
Bradley got to his home earlier this afternoon and crashed. LA was a new experience for him. When Angel called him begging him to switch rooms with Candy and Deon, it made Bradley want to help out in any way he could. It was good to be needed. He was happy to give the blond some kind of comfort. He wasn't scared of the guy coming back, hell the douchebag didn't take anything he left her a creepy gift. Bradley was sure if he was in the room the guy wouldn't be so quick to want to rumble without the blonde's presence, there would be no point. Candy R had left her stuff in her haste to switch rooms. He just packed it up and gave it back to her this morning when she and her guy came back. Getting up from his bed he lumbers into the shower. He wanted to go see Logan and Short Stuff. The three of them had really been hanging out here lately when not on a job site. He texts Logan and his boss / friend texted him back that he wasn't currently at home. He texted if Logan wanted to come down with Short Stuff, maybe they could hangout he wanted to show Logan what he'd done with the house. Bradley was no fool and there were things he gave to charity like the flowery sofa in the wife's former den. The livingroom set had been changed due to Cassandra giving him her couch and loveseat. She told him he was helping her by taking it, because she could buy new in the event she moved on her own. Though his little sister tried her damnedest to not outwardly show her level of freak out, about shit that happened with Chadwick at their parent's house, or more importantly in her room too hard, he saw in her eyes every time they were there. She'd been talking to him and asked him to her room so she could pick up and outfit or two. She was looking for an outfit in her room, and talking a mile a minute to him the closer she got to the room her speech sped up. By the time she reached her closet she did something their mom was famous for. His Baby sister, his Cass spoke so fast she switched unbeknownst to her into Spanish. Cass was usually the one that told mom "English mom" in an angry tone. She did it ever since they were kids. He sat on her bed it squeaked he thought oh shit, she turned around and he was about to spring to his feet an apologize. He had a sudden memory of her screaming at him all those years ago that she had chairs in her room for a reason, and to get his dirty ass off her duvet. But the look in her eyes before he could get out an I'm sorry, and move to another spot in the room, was so openly haunted. She then closed her eyes, and reopened them, then told him he could have the bed and her furniture in storage. She'd been lugging around her half of her marital home, for over a year now. He proposed a trade. So there was now a bed in her room at their parents' home that Chadwick had never been in with her or... He had to stop because if he started thinking about that dead fucker in bed with his mother trying to hurt her, he would break something. Somehow he just didn't see Rapture letting his sister out of his sight for too long. The guy had it bad, but he was good for Cass, so Bradley didn't give him too much shit about it. An hour and half later Logan pulled up.
Logan, Glenny, and Tracy alone with her son Tony gets out of Logan's truck. Tony helps Glenny out of his car seat and out of the truck. A side from the first few days of helping Bradley get a window put into his former home, Logan had stayed clear of the residence. He and Tracy started hanging out again, like when they were in high school. They were friends back then, and still friends now. On Feb. 5th, a particularly lonely day he'd showed up to the Last Ride to ask Tracy out but stopped himself when he saw her talking to the guard of Ivey Mansion, Frank. Then he thought of why he'd been so ready to possibly jeopardize their friendship. Other than the fact that one of his heads were talking to him at the time, and it wasn't the one on his shoulders, it was his anniversary. Seeing Tracy enjoying herself chatting with the guy after she confided that it wasn't that she didn't like Frank it was that she feared of letting him close enough to her emotionally to hurt her like Anthony did. Logan remembered telling his friend that she should go with her heart. Seeing that she had taken his advice made him get back in his truck and drive back to his home. His mother had been surprised to see him come in 20 minutes after he'd left she and his dad agreed to watch Glenny. That night after his parents left and he got Glenny in bed. He invited Bradley over and they drank and talked shit as Bradly whooped his ass in video games until he passed out. That was the first February 5th in almost 20 years that he hadn't spent with his wife marking the day of their marriage. Now walking to the home he'd built that had so many memories good and bad he stops at the threshold. It was like his legs stopped working. Tracy and the boys go inside, Logan watched as his son went through the door with his newest friend T. Tony liked hanging out with Glenny and Glenny had a big boy to hang with for a change. This year he would try to get Glenny into pre K. Okay he told himself you have procrastinated long enough, walk forward It's just a house wood, steel, glass, don't pause until you walk through the door. Taking a deep breath Logan steps through the door and was relieved that it looked nothing like how he left it. Bradley had been quite busy in his spare time. This was definitely the home of a bachelor. Logan was relieved that it didn't look like his home. The sofa was along the wall now. There were wall hangings of different sayings. Bradley offered a tour. Swallowing any chance of saying no Logan nods. He wasn't too crazy about going further into the house than the living room. It was Glenny who came back down the stairs with T asking Bradley to play the big game. Logan had to see what the big game was. He walked up the stairs and what used to be his bedroom was now a game room complete with 72-inch TV attached to a stream of game consoles. There were gaming chairs and even a Guitar Hero set up. Logan watched T select a game and start playing, Glenny watched and jumped every time the virtual character jumped. Logan stood in the doorway when Glenny would look back at him he'd give his son the thumbs up.
Joshua and Angel both were just glad to be back in the remote safety of their home. Upon arriving Angel took JC and went straight for his room. Right now Joshua just wanted to get the street grit off his damn clothes and skin. Standing in their bathroom applying a cleansing wipe to the bruise on his forehead he winced, he was just lucky the fucker didn't fracture his fucking skull. He knew he was going to have a whopper of a headache for a while. That crazy cop scared the shit out of him, on more than a few levels. Joshua washed up and called Jonathon. He tells his dad what happen and Jonathon told him that he was coming over.
Jonathon and Gloria ride up the hill to Ivey Mansion. Jonathon was furious when he saw with his own eyes what the officer did to his son's face. The fucker had broken the skin along Joshua's forehead where his bangs stopped. They speak and Joshua says that he was supposed to go to the club tonight, but called Deon to cover for him, saying tonight he wouldn't be of much to help because right now even the level of his own voice was giving his headache fuel. "You said he called you showbiz?"
Joshua recounts what happened before the cop sent his ass face-first into his own damn truck. Angel's indrawn breath draws Joshua and Jonathon's attention. She says that Joshua said his headache was going away. "Babe it's better than when I first woke up I swear. I just need some time to chill out, I've been amped and pissed off for most of today and that shit scared the hell out of me."
Angel swallows hard hugging herself looking at the floor. "I know it scared me too. I felt so helpless I couldn't help you I couldn't even calm JC for fear that the nut would shoot my ass if I moved again. When the other cop opened the door I was so afraid. Andrew said to get in his vehicle and I wanted to check on you but I…" Joshua walks over saying with how the traffic was whipping passed, he was glad she stayed on the safer side of the truck. He recounts waking to the sound of JC getting further away, and how it freaked him out until he saw Bobby.
Jonathon makes eye contact with Gloria something in her eyes told him she was thinking hard. He wondered if this had anything to do with the text message. He looks at his phone and re read the message. He asked "around what time did this happen son?" Joshua tells him and he does the math so whoever did this was very confident. The message asked him how was he with one less member of his company. He thought the person was speaking of someone one he'd fired recently, but this pointed more towards someone messing up his newest band. The person if caught had hell on their hands, they weren't just fucking with his talent, which was bad, they were fucking with his bloodline. "Both of you stay in, get some rest if you need anything don't hesitate to ask." They soon say their goodbyes as they drive back to their home Jonathon tells Gloria to go on in he had a few errands to run before it got late. Gloria asked him did it have to do with the weird text message. "No matter my answer I'm going to get to the bottom of this, but yes." She tells him there's safety in numbers and that she wants to go with him. Sighing Jonathon says "No, considering I don't have a concrete location as of now I think it best if you go inside, I will tell you if I find anything." Gloria tries one more time to stay in the car. "Look at meh, the people that did that to that boy's head aren't fucking around. If I am worrying with where you are, I fear, I won't be able to protect us both. I don't have anything but a feeling that it's her or someone that she employs right now. A text message and no proof of where it came from. I'm thankful to Robert and his team and the other officer for stopping the assault, but that doesn't mean that I'm not pissed off that it happened."
Gloria didn't have a good feeling about him running off trying to find the woman that threatened his life and their business and now a part of his bloodline. The woman that had him kidnapped. "John please don't go off halfcocked trying to find her. I just don't have a good feeling about this." He tells her in a calm tone she's right and gets out of the vehicle, she powers walks behind him into the house. He takes off for his den. Gloria marches in to see her mate on the phone. He turns away from her and speaks in quick burst of a mix between Old Celtic and New Gallic. He was on the phone she hadn't seen the Bluetooth he'd purchased to replace the one broken at Ivey Mansion the day he returned from his abduction when Rapture took him to the floor before he hurt them or himself. "John please calm down." He was vibrating with energy and she knew it wasn't happiness. After telling someone thanks in a tense tone he looks back at her. Those hunter green eyes were sharp and angry.
Jonathon turns around and says. "The text message has been sent to the proper people. Since you want me to sit here with my fucking finger up my ass while that bitch runs freely around hurting our talent." Gloria tells him that's not the only reason he's upset. "You damn right." He yells "I don't know and I don't want to even think about what the entire plan was. You want me to say it fine. If I catch whoever it is that put that cop up to putting his hands on my son in front of my daughter and grandchild, I'll be sure to do more than merely put my hands on them. Right now I am waiting for a location." He gets a call. "Yes, this is he." He listens and loses some color then quickly says. "I'm on way." Gloria asked what is wrong. He doesn't answer as he grabs his gun running out of the house, Gloria chased him to the car where he yells for her to go back in the fucking house then speeds off down the hill into the setting sun of the early evening.
Jonathon's heart was in his throat as he reached The Davenport. One of his other band leads was attacked in the bathroom of The Davenport. One of the bartenders called him since a note was left lying on the injured female. He had to believe she was just injured. Lonnie Stevens, the barley 21-year-old raven haired lead singer for his leading doom rock band Letters of Hurt was here to see her favorite band Three Days Grace tonight. Lonnie joined his company when she was only 16 over in Dublin. She'd lived in London but moved to Dallas. She was one of his first bands he'd signed for the US office. She'd came for an addition with her entire family for support. He'd arranged for her to be a feature band lead here since she kept getting over looked in London and Dublin. Here she had a larger fan base and he convinced her to uproot her life. Deon walks out from behind the building. That was odd Deon was supposed to be managing since Joshua wasn't coming in tonight. "Baza What happened?" Deon looked at him and said nothing and asks him what he was talking about. Jonathon smelled liquor on the bass player. "Lonnie Stevens has been attacked where were you?" Deon says no she wasn't that's when Jonathon heard the slur. "Your drunk." A few young men come up and start talking about how Deon didn't have to answer to him, that this wasn't a stage and their bro was still on hiatus. Jonathon forced himself to turn around instead of argue with Deon and a bunch of useless drunks. He had to find out about Lonnie. He calls Joshua and tells him he might want to speak to Deon about drinking on the job and send someone that wasn't drunk to come close The Davenport after the show. The bass player was shit-faced and his little group of followers were as well. Joshua sounded pissed off but pained. Joshua says he's on his way. Anger and fear drove the words from Jonathon's mouth. "Stay your concussed ass home with my daughter and my grandson. Someone is hunting my fucking band leads and I'd like you to for once to think before white-horsing-it-over-here like you did for the music room." Jonathon expected to get an ear full from his hot tempered sometimes very stubborn son. He knew he was way out of line with his last comment. "Joshua?" He looks at his phone Joshua had hung up. He texts his son.
No response. Just great. Jonathon puts his phone away and walks into the club. Everyone was watching as the EMT's rolled the pale bloody woman towards him he steps to the side out of their path to the door. There was blood everywhere. He called her name no movement. Her face wasn't covered. She had a chance to survive. "Please Lonnie please make it." He calls Gloria and explains what he has been told by the ex-marine bartender that looked pissed to see him. The police walk passed him and he has to turn his head not to get angry. They were state cops, this wasn't the highway. The bartender calls him back over, hands him a pic of the girl laying on the floor with a note on her chest. The note said One hit, one miss, you have the power to stop this.
The bartender Larry, an ex-marine, and The Davenport's night bartender wasn't too happy talking to the guy that just cheap shouted his boss into calling him and asking him to closed down the club tonight. Joshua sent the codes and that's when they both found out that Deon hadn't checked in at all. He hands the producer a photo and crossed his arms over his chest. This guy was never going let Davenport live a moment of bad judgment down. "I didn't take the note. I took the picture because aside from stopping the bleeding I wasn't fucking up their crime scene any more than it has already been trampled. Since Deon didn't turn on the camera system I didn't know that he didn't until I went to ask him for the code to release the footage and he wasn't here. You know instead of busting Davenport's balls about a bad call, maybe you should be pissed at the guy that came in here and did that to that lady, or at Baza, the guy that was supposed to come here turn on the fucking system, and close up tonight." The producer glares at him and says this wasn't a conversation. "Nope, not a conversation sir, just an observation." Larry moved down the bar to a customer. The producer left, Larry took a breath, that guy had no room to talk about past fuckups. Days after Mrs. Angela Davenport bought this place, the producer went monster all over her ass at a party she put together for him. He'd assured Davenport that he'd close up tonight. Larry hoped the girl pulled through.
Deon had gone back to his place with his buddies. Stupid Jonathon ruined him getting some of his queen tonight, and told on him. When Deon called his queen she got all mad about him not going to The Davenport. He told her he was coming over after work and she went to yelling at him. He hung up. His buddies were already teasing him because he hadn't been with a lot of hot chicks here in the states. He was defending himself, and said he was going to marry his queen. They said if she was his queen he was her king. He said yeah they were right. They asked him what he was allowed to do. He didn't understand the question. Then it started they started talking about sex, and he slipped up and told them some things he was sure she didn't need his friends to know. Talking about how they used to play before stupid Roman came and messed up his fun, got him hot. Candy had told him what she didn't like anymore. His friends said females just had to be reintroduced to stuff guys liked them for in the first place. Deon understood. It was like a light came on in his head. They gave him some tips and some web sites to check out. At first, he wasn't going to go out with his fellas tonight but they pointed out that he was being used by Joshua he wasn't an owner he was a manager at best. Deon got pissed off that Candy had embarrassed him by not letting him come over saying he was drunk and there was a child in her home, wasn't his. So fine, fuck her he'd party with his boys at his house. One of his boys asked did he want some weed, Scott popped in his mind, and he freaked out saying no he'd promised to never do that again. Scott had almost killed his ass and his queen. They told him to chill and asked him didn't he trust them, they'd been boys since he moved to the states. Deon caved, smoked some really good weed with his homeboys and soon passed out.
Deon's phone rang and one of the guys answered and tells his lady that Deon can't come to the phone right now he's in the middle of a threesome. "Man he is going to flip his shit when he wakes up." Jason one of Deon's oldest friends says as he laughs the hardest. "Man, she loud as fuck, I can hear her over here. Hand me the phone. Hey bitch, shut up this his Boy J. We were fucking with you, he got drunk we took his keys, he hit the bowl and now he out for the count. Bye" Jason hangs up. "Man she is feisty she was still cursing me out when I hung up."
Earlier that day Chase left Grandville soon after they're dropped off everyone and fueled his jet he was going to go get his real woman. Amy was being released today, and thought she was just going to call the service, and be taken back to Grandville. She was, but what she didn't know yet, was that he had a surprise for her. It was even more hell having to stay away from her, and not call her when he wanted. He had to keep her safe. Now that Carla wasn't his issue anymore, Wolfe had her, and Wolfe assured Jonathon that the little boy was safe. So Chase was done with the masquerade.
He now sat in the limo waiting on her to open the door. He knew she may have questions. He felt horrible about telling her that he would call her, and not to call him. He didn't know how closely the woman that once employed Carla was tracking him. The door opened, and the look of hurt and anger on her face spoke before she did.
Amy had all her things mailed to her home all she had to do was get in the limo, that was a part of her travel arrangement, and get to the plane. When the driver opened the door and she saw Chase she wanted to do so many things, she wanted to scream, she wanted to cry. Why was he even here? Anger took over her tongue. She had nothing to lose he'd fucking moved on. She smiles a forced smile." What are you doing here? I know it's Ivey Transit but usually Ivey's don't come with it. Where's your girlfriend?" Her last question made her voice hitch.
Chase holds out his hand as he gets out of the limo "She is standing in front of me if she'll just let me explain." She folded her arms over her chest, and asks him what was there to explain, saying he stopped talking to her, to see if he could date younger. Chase drops his hand, and his gaze. At her next statement, he was floored when she called herself gateway pussy. Her venom was striking its mark. He had to stop this, he hadn't even thought about the entire image. "Amy I know what it looked like, the situation was manufactured to look that way. I assure you I don't have a death wish, that woman tried to kill me. Please, let me explain on the way to the plane." He takes off his jacket he didn't know if she was shivering because of the noticeable chill in this part of the world in winter, or to the situation before them. "Here, take my jacket, let's get in, It's a long ride to the plane. Hopefully, by the time you board, you'll invite me to come with you."
"I really don't have much of a choice, if I want to get home, so I can meet up with my child. It's your travel service." Chase holds out his leather Jacket. She gets in the limo. Was she really going to listen to him? Her mind and her heart were at war. She spent days building this angry wall, this armor, that he was cracking before he even said anything else beside that he was looking at his girlfriend. Had he really called her that? Would he really come all the way across the country if he wasn't serious? Her mind asked. Biting her lip as she watches him get back in the limo he starts speaking. His words floored her. Someone tried to take him away from her, another woman wanted to take his life. Was that the guarded, public only, facial expression she dared to hope was there in his eyes in those videos and photos? She saw how the female looked at him. and spoke on it. If nothing he said sunk in, the look of disgust, he made when she said the young woman wanted him, wasn't rehearsed, that much she knew. She'd only seen some of how his mind worked and what he said ran along the line of something he would attempt to keep a child safe. Hell he'd sent a protection team to watch over her and her girl and they were way above 3 years old. They arrive at the private hanger. He really was letting her take his plane?
They had run out of time. Chase had promised her that she could basically leave his ass here if she still wanted to after he said his peace. "Have you made your choice on whether you will allow me to fly with you?" She says no. Chase drops his gaze. He'd tried, he told her everything. He even spoke about where he wanted to see them in the coming years and how Carla just made him yearn to get here and love the woman he really loved. The word love left his lips and he didn't want to suck it back in. He loved Amy Davis her absence from his life had surly made him think about them as an item. Had he blown it? She gets out of the limo and walks towards the plane. He watches through the window as she gets to the top step, she stops. When she turns around she looked angry. Was she really about to flip him off or something? When she waved him up like a little kid he didn't think she would play about this but if she was, he was staying in the warm confines of his limo until her plane left the ground, then he would have a driver team drive his ass back to Grandville. Could he get another plane sure but flying alone he'd done it a lot and it was nothing compared to flying with her.
Amy turns around he was really going to let her get in his plane, and leave him here if she wished. Not that she would, it just wasn't how she was wired. When she said no she tested the waters. He'd tested the waters by publicly dating another female. If all she was wanting to know his reaction. He stayed in the limo and she still had the jacket he put on her shoulders as she got in. Nick would have just chastised her for not wearing enough clothing. She knew where they were and knew it got cold here, but for most of her time here she was inside the center. Winter clothing bought in Texas wasn't that useful in the Hamptons. She waved him to come with her. For a heart stopping moment he remained in the limo. She texted him.
Amy: Please come fly with me.
She stands at the mouth of the of the doorway to the huge jet holding her breath. The driver was getting back in the car after looking at his phone. Was her test that bad that he would leave on his own? She lets out her breath and smiles for the first time since she sat in the media room watching the news, when he gets out the limo and walks up the stairs. She hugged his jacket around her, his scent enveloped her until he reached her and hugged her and guides her to her seat. They take off and he asks her if she wanted to continue their conversation. "No, Chase I believe you about the woman. I want to talk about us." They do as they head home. She suggests her place Chase agrees. Amy couldn't remember when she'd smiled so much let alone giggled.
That night Michael watched his wife sleep while sitting in his chair in their bedroom. He didn't know what Wendell wanted him to do and where this night would end. He had to protect his family. He writes a letter to his wife and put it in the photo album. He had no clue where this night would take him. Looking at his family sitting at Joshua's home before heading to the awards in the den made him want just that much more to get this over with. His whole world sat along his son's sofa. He touched the picture that Cassandra had taken of him holding his grandson Jonathon-Chase. Sally moved in her sleep, he looked up guiltily, for the millionth time he warred with himself asking himself what the fuck was he doing? Then Wendell's voice and his threats would answer his question, strengthening Michael's resolve. Michael didn't know who all Wendell knew about within his family, but he wanted none of them hurt or worse killed because of him. This was no one's fault but his. Though he would take that same action as he'd done to get him into this situation a thousand times more, he would deal with the consequences of his actions. For someone that always thought there was always another way, he'd thought about that night, and he still saw no other course of action to save his wife except the way he did. His cellphone buzzed he looks at the screen the car was here. His chest tightened as he rose to his feet. He breathed out slowly walked over and kissed his wife and soon walks out of their home into the night.
Earlier that day Carla was told what to do, she was to keep an eye and ears out for a dealer that was working for Mr. Wolfe. She still hadn't seen Wolfe but his men gave her instruction. Wolfe didn't threaten her son's life he told her since the only reason she was still on the planet was because of her son, he would put forth an effort to keep Glenn Dale Conner safe in return for her work for him. If she didn't take the deal and Vargo's wife took out her kid she wouldn't be able to forgive herself and just like Monroe she had no doubt that she would be fertilizer if she didn't do what she was told. She was to move into the dealer's circle and be one of his girls. Denton was easy, flash him some tit and flick her now sewed in blonde hair at him, suck him off and he followed her like a puppy to the room in the back of the club she'd been placed at. This clown thought he was the next Hugh Heffner, throwing money around. He recognized her from her porno days and her photos with Chase. She told him he was a much better lay than Chase. Of course she would never know if that was true but this clown didn't need to know that. He had more moves than the warden which wasn't saying much. The "don't call me Daddy guy" even gave her some of a release before she fucked it up. They were now in another limo this one didn't smell like the one Chase had her come and go in. She knew this area they were in Pyramid a little outside of Grandville South. "What are we waiting for baby?" Carla says to Wendell as she runs her hands over his groin and gropes him. He turns to her and says that this was the guy that made his mother cry. "Oh did he dump her or something?" He gets a weird look in his eyes and says or something. He then tells her to get out and into his brother's car. Carla looks out and sees a sedan. He told her not to worry the cop works for him because he paid better.
Michael gets in the limo parked outside of his home. Wendell looked like Chadwick but only younger. Meeting the younger's man glare Michael says "what is it that you want me to do?"
Wendell watches as his latest conquest gets out of his limo she used to be Chase's woman now he stole her from the old fart. Officer Cody Tanner, his childhood friend and best customer within the police opens his door and lets his little porn star into his unmarked. Tanner took it harder than Wendell, that some old fart had knocked off his big brother. Tanner was to take his porno prize back to his home. "Your first job is to apologize for wronging my family." The old man says his brother tried to end his wife's life. Wendell sits up and gets in the old man's face. "You killed my brother in cold blood because he was banging your wife. You had my mother in tears. So since you like to give my family death and pain. You work for me now." Wendell watched the old guy about to say something. "Try me, I'm sure my cop contacts won't mind getting a little dirty again. Your son is still breathing my contacts can stop that tonight. I saw you hanging with the band, you have got to be one of the oldest groupies I have ever laid eyes on. They just kept flashing my brother's pic in the news. Your son's band got a lot of free publicity for your actions." The old man says he never gave an interview and he never wanted his name connected to his son's image. "No you wanted to kill one of my family members and get it swept under the rug." Wendell sits back and knocks on the divider. "I saw you in the shot with your daughter's father." The old man asks what Jonathon McBride had to do with any of this. Wendell saw the confusion in the old man's eyes. "Not him, Chase Ivey I have already stolen one of his women and now he won't know what hit him." Wendell tells Michael the plan the old man said he couldn't do that even if he tried. "Well Pops you had better give it your all, or Else" the old man says he will. The spark in the old guy's eye made Wendell pat his gun. He wasn't afraid of the guy, but this old timer had already made a cadaver out of his brother, he wasn't taking any chances. The old man gets out of the car in front of Chase Ivey's home. Wendell gets a call from one of his contacts as soon as the old man walks beyond the 10-foot gate that surrounded the property Wendell had his driver drive him back to his house. One of his girls wasn't playing nicely with the newest girl Carla. Carla was so much more than the drug girls he usually went with. Amy used to be one of his highest paying girls, but Ivey stuck his nose in Wendell's business and ruined his chance of making her more. He'd laid low in her friend zone he should have snapped her up when her husband sent her ass to the hospital. He now had a porn star under his roof. He'd find out what her drug of choice is and use that information to his advantage, he was getting older, had more access to more money than he could count and wanted a woman to show off. Carla didn't seem the type to do hard drugs.
Michael hears the tires moving and looks back just in time to see the dealer drive off and leave him here. Here he stood in the yard of a man that had never done a darn thing to him. Letting the gate close all the way. He slowly walks up to the home. What he was to do was criminal. Taking the things from the bag that the dealer gave him he looked at the window. Would Ivey be in the house? Was he about to possibly do this and get himself in more trouble. What choice did he have? Michael wasn't foolish enough to think that the dealer wouldn't be able to tell if he'd just walked away. Would walking away serve up his family to the dealer on a silver platter? Who could he call? Looking to the heavens he received no answers. Every fiber of his being told him to leave, but fear for his loved ones made him stay. The dealer had taken his phone he couldn't even call Ivey and warn him if he wanted to. Then again, what the fuck would he say? Hey Ivey thank you for raising my daughter, taking us to the awards in your jet, and making my son feel like he is a part of your family. Just wanted to warn you that I'm standing outside of what could be your bedroom for all I know, about to fuck up your home and possibly kill you in the process. Which would make Angel and my own son hate me for the rest of their life. Once again Michael turns to the gate. Before he loses his nerve he strikes the match. Lights the little rag that hung from the glass bottle and threw the fiery weapon at the window. Glass shatters, an alarm sounds, and Michael tries to run back out of the gate. The gate locks as he reaches it. Panic builds as men come running around the house towards him. They take him down quickly and demand that he not fight them, they ask his name "Davenport" was the last thing he said before he passed out.
Chase's groans when he gets a call in the middle of the night. He'd brought Amy back to her home and they'd made love after she was sated and asleep, he lay with her just watching her. He was drifting off when his phone went off. "This had better be worth my time." He growls into the phone. After being informed that Mr. Davenport set his den on fire and was now in security custody he sits up, anger coursing through his every fiber. "Keep him there I want to talk to him, has the fire been put out?" He is assured that the fire was extinguished by the house keeper and also that Davenport wasn't going anywhere soon he was unconscious. "I'm on my way" Chase gets up and starts looking for his clothing. Amy turns over without even opening her eyes and says that his shirt was on the door knob. "Thanks" he grabs his clothing putting it on in record time as he is about to leave the room she mumbles for him to be careful. Chase stops in mid step turns around, walks back to the bed, pulls back the covers and kisses his woman, winks at her and says "Always." He then leaves to go check on his home.
Michael came awake to Chase yelling in his face. The dealer had left him here. What the hell was he going to say to this man. He was glad that Chase wasn't harmed. He says that to the younger man. Chase floors him with news that his fucking housekeeper was in the house and that she was the only reason his house wasn't in ashes right now. Michael hadn't even thought about house staff that may reside in the dwelling. He was going to be sick. It made sense, though Chase lived in Grandville he wasn't much for staying at home. When Chase grabbed his hair and asked why he did it, Michael had no words that would solve this. Michael had no idea where they were.
Seeing his men bring the older man into his home office stirred many emotions within Chase. He lets go of Davenport's hair and strides to the door. "Right now your silence isn't golden, it's just pissing me off more. Davenport you tell me why exactly you tried to torch my fucking house and I might not send your ass up the river." Davenport says his hand was forced. "Not good enough, By who?" This was so out of the older man's normal behavior. Had the fucker had a mental break? Why the hell was he targeted? Sighing Chase runs a hand through his hair. "Ok answer this, is it political in nature? Did I do something unbeknownst to me to you that you don't agree with?"
Michael looks up in confusion. "No, if I lived in Grandville I'd vote for you." Chase asks then why the hell he tried to burn up his fucking home tonight. Michael had to say something, he didn't want this night to end with him back behind bars. The dealer had left him to hang for this crime. Looking around at the men that had taken him to the ground, he then looks back at Ivey. "I don't know where to start." Chase says the beginning would do just fine, and went into lawyer mode asking Michael questions. He answered as best as he could.
At the close of Michael telling Chase the who, what, and why of trying to make his home and ash pile, Chase tells his security team to take Davenport back to his home. He tells Michael "If it weren't for the fact that I believe you. You do know you would be back in jail tonight in a best case scenario right?" Michael nods saying he'd pay for the damage he caused. "Oh I had no doubt about that, I'll never be too pleased that you did this. He wanted to score one on both of us. He wanted to destroy my property or me, and he wanted you in jail where he believes you should be. I won't give him the satisfaction of hearing about, or seeing you go to jail tonight." Michael thanks him. "I'll handle Wendell, go home to your wife, and for right now stay out of my sight. There is a car to take you back to your home goodnight Michael."
The next morning Nicole lay with her eyes closed trying to remember the great dream she had. Today was her birthday she knew Candy was planning something but truthfully she didn't want anything that could be bought. She'd dreamed of her mom and she going out, and had tears in her eyes now that she was awake. She hears someone shush her. Nikki opens her eyes and almost jumps out of her skin at the sight of her mom. Quickly the fear turns into strong emotion as she cries "MOM" in excitement as she hugs her mother who was laying on the bed fully clothed with a smile on her face. Her mom was here for her 15th birthday. At this point there wasn't a better gift, her mom was able to visit for her birthday.
Amy wipes tears from her baby girl's eyes as her girl squeezes her. "Hey, it's supposed to be happy birthday please, don't cry." Nikki says she is sorry she just missed her sooo much. The held so was Amy's undoing she held on to her girl and cried, she'd missed her daughter the most. Her baby was almost grown. By the time they got in town last night Candy said Nikki was asleep. Amy had come over here and asked Candy which room was her girl's. Chase was off wreaking havoc on someone. Thankfully no one was harmed in the fire. That was all she got out of him. She'd only suggested her home because it was the shortest distance to her daughter. With today being her baby's day she wanted to do this right. Now that they both could speak she asked her daughter "So, my fabulous 15-year-old, are you ready to go home?"
"Sure how long do you get to stay? Is it like when I visited you on the first of the year?" Nikki was prepared for any amount of hours or even hopefully days, she wasn't expecting what her mom said next. "Wait, you mean you get to stay?" her mom nodded her head and held up a certificate. Once again Nikki's hyper level went through the roof as she lunged back into her mother's arms. After reading that her mom had successfully completed her program. She let go when her mom said that Chase was going to meet up with them later and take them to a nice dinner. "Mom we don't have to have him come, we can just do a girl's day please." Nikki didn't need Chase sending her mom into any kind of weird funk and landing her back in the hospital. Her real dad's death brought on her mom's struggle with sleeping pills she hated to think what Chase's latest antics would do to her. Her mom tells her that it was all a misunderstanding and her and Chase had spoken about the media coverage. Her mom sounded so happy when she said Chase wanted to marry her. Some of the excitement left Nikki, Chase was playing with her mom. This wasn't fair. Her mom was better now, why would he do this? Nikki would not add to her mom's future breakdown when Chase started back dating the younger lady. Though she didn't want Chase anywhere near her mom with his cheating butt, Nikki would not stress out her mom and risk her having to go away again so soon by voicing her true feelings. She agrees that Chase could come with them. It made her feel sick inside. "Hey mom, I so need to grab a shower, meet you downstairs?" her mom says sure. Nikki smiled her brightest smile until her mom left the room. The minute her mom left, the smile faded into tears. Why was Chase messing with her mom? Did he want to see her crash again? Nikki gets up showers and stares at the bathroom wall for a while. Nikki didn't know how she was going to pull this off, but she couldn't let Chase hurt her mom and get her sent back to the hospital. Those weeks may have meant nothing to him, but she missed her mom even more when she knew where she was, and why she was away, than when she didn't. This was going to be one hell of a birthday.
Later that day Joshua and Andrew head to the Davenport. Joshua wasn't in that great of a mood this morning and Jonathon's news about losing Lonnie Stevens to whoever stabbed her in his club didn't make him feel any better. He felt bad for her family's loss. He felt angry that he was anxious about being outside. Every time he saw a cop car he didn't take an easy breath until it was out of sight. He had to keep telling himself that most of them were still the good guys. Hell he was riding in the middle of federal convoy. He'd refused to drive his truck since Jonathon was insisting that some fucker was hunting his band leads and he felt that the truck with the band's insignia on the tailgate would be a bullseye. Here Joshua sat in the back of a limo not because he felt especially posh, but because the windows were tinted and no one could see his ass. He gets out of the limo in the back near his office and quickly heads in. Once Andrew and he enters, Joshua turns on the system. Deon soon knocks on his office door. He'd seen the bass player enter the club. "It's open" Deon comes in and plops down in the chair in front of his desk. "Deon, we need to talk about this you not showing up. What happened you said you had my back last night? Larry says you didn't log in at all." Deon says he has come to the realization that it's not his job to run The Davenport when the owners don't feel like showing up. Joshua gets up and paces the office. "You know why I wasn't here. You never had issue before, what brought all this on? I should fire your ass. I can't believe you would pull a stunt like this. You said I got you bro, and left the club unlinked, they don't even have an idea of who came in and stabbed Lonnie. She died here man, and because you didn't turn on the system, one it took the cops longer to respond, and two they have not a clue who followed her in that damn bathroom." Deon says there are no cameras in the bathrooms anyway. "That's not the point, there are no windows in the bathrooms, so unless he's a fucking phantom, a bloody man or woman walking out of the bathroom would had have triggered an alarm at the police station." Deon gets up and says that Joshua could have called any of the other owners if he wasn't up to running a show. "I called you. You said you had it, and you didn't even show up. Candy was home with Nikki, Angel was with me when the cop lost his fucking mind, and Vash left town when we landed." Deon shrugs and lays a line of bullshit logic about how the club wasn't his number one priority, and why should it be, since he'd never make owner and Joshua was using him. Joshua wanted to send his bass player through the fucking wall right about now. "Candy worked here for over 13 years before becoming an owner." Deon says he's not Candy. Joshua smiles with no humor "Fine, you want to go that route? Deon you won't have to worry about opening or closing ever again. Since you feel so put upon. Get out. You're fired oh, and since I can no longer trust that you won't try to retaliate within the band, you're out of the band as well." Deon says if he's fired Joshua will be sorry. "I already am, because I thought we'd settled this shit. You're a good bass player and a good manager, but if I can't trust you to do your job because you have it in your head that I'm taking advantage of you, I don't need you here." Deon mentions the fact that there are three shares of the club controlled by him and Angel saying they could have given him one. "Well I hope you got a really good look at the contract, you missed something while snooping through my office. Not that it's any of your fucking business, but the third share is my son's. So not only can't I trust you to come in when needed, but I also can't trust that you haven't got sticky fingers. I'm telling you now Deon if I find a penny missing, I'll make sure you never work again." Deon runs up like he's about punch Joshua. Andrew steps away from the wall he was holding up. Joshua put up a hand as he glares into the hate filled eyes of his former bass player and growls. "Do it, SWING" Deon steps back breathing hard. "Just like I thought, you got lot of mouth but nothing to back it up. Now get the fuck out my club." Deon hauls back and swings at Joshua. In seconds flat Joshua deflects the strike attempt, and has Deon pinned against the top of his desk face first. He leans down and says "The next time you try that shit I'll break your face. Are we clear?" Deon nods. Joshua releases Deon the bass player walks out of the building and flips off the camera.
Deon was livid as he tries and fails to start his 2005 Mini Coop Convertible in The Davenport parking lot. Pounding on the steering wheel he calls his boy Jason to give him a jump. Jason teases him and says he should demand his queen to bring their bright green chariot. "I've just got us fired, she is going to be angry at me." Jason soon arrives and gives him some juice. "Thanks bro." Jason says no problem and asks to come along saying that the blonde wouldn't get to rowdy with him around. Deon thought about it. Jason was 5'5 and about 400 pounds but he did work on cars. If Deon had to stop suddenly he could lose power again. Having a mechanic follow him was a good idea, and Jason had been one of his first friends. "Fine"
Jason got back in his truck and follows Deon up the hill. The blonde was going to flip out. He made sure he had plenty of battery on his phone. His internet channel could use some spice through views. His boy was just the one to provide it. They get to the house and Deon tries to convince him to stay in his truck at the last minute. "Bro, if you just needed a tow truck you should have just called one, not me. Don't be a Joshua, don't just use me Hollywood." Just like magic, mentioning the band lead's name got him access to the three ring circus.
Deon lets himself in to Candy's home. She was in the kitchen singing and working with clay. He'd really pissed her off from the song she was singing. His queen didn't sing Davenport Lighting songs unless she was pissed off. Hearing her belt out Joshua's "No More" lyrics was pissing him off. He knew she helped write the song, but he would always associate it with Joshua singing it while playing guitar, looking like he was going to eat the first row, at The Davenport before they became Personal Touch. That was another decision that was made without him. One while, they were Davenport Lighting and the next weeks after Jonathon signed them, they were Personal Touch. Hearing Jason laugh at a note Candy always missed in the hard rock song brought Deon back to the present. He walks into the kitchen and taps Candy on the shoulder. That was the wrong thing to do, suddenly she screamed in fright and he was wearing a clay pot.
Jason says "Relax sweetheart we aren't your stalkers we come in peace. Man that's not going to get out of that silk shirt." The blonde tells him to get out. "Hey Deon invited me." Jason says pointing at Deon.
"My name is not Sweetheart. Deon how nice of you to invite another one of your homeboys into my home." Candy was pissed with Deon's behavior last night and the possible threesome that took place, she wasn't in the mood to have another one of his friends in her space right now. The last time she was a fool, and wanted to be one of the guys, and let him and Scott in on her. That thought made her shiver. Coming back to the here and now, she focused on the large man standing behind a pissed off Deon. No, the sumo wrestler, probably wasn't here to drug her half to death and try to kill her ass, but she still didn't want him in her home. She still didn't know who was behind the stuff left in her hotel room, or the flowers she got just this morning. She'd thought they were for Nikki for her birthday and had her own brand of freak out when Amy said she nor Chase had sent them. Candy knew the flowers didn't come from Nikki's latest crush, the kid worked at a diner and Candy didn't see him sending Nikki anything in the range of 3 dozen roses with no card.
Deon felt Candy was cheap shooting him about bringing one of his friends to her home. She knew Jason wasn't anything like Scott. For her to throw that in his face. He'd apologized and was done feeling bad for his past fuck up. "Look my queen, there is only so many times I will apologize for Scott and mean it." He looked away from the haunted look in her eyes at the mention of Scott's name. Sniffing the air, he focuses in on the roses that were sticking out of the trashcan. "Another one of your admirers?" He knew he went too far with the first comment and the second escaped his lips before thought could intervene.
"Deon get out and take your friend that is recording the inside my house with you. Maybe he can get you another threesome going." Deon looks back at the sumo who was putting his hand over the camera. Then back at her and asks her what the hell was she talking about a threesome. He claims he went to his home after she blocked him from coming here last night, drank some more, and had a little bit of weed, but there were no women in his home and more importantly none were in his bed.
"Ask your homeboy, he knows what I'm talking about, you're Jason right." Deon turns on his friend and ask him out of the room for a minute. "No, you guys can leave the way you came in oh, and please give me my keys." Candy holds out her hand to take her keys out of Deon's. He withdraws them out of her reach. Saying they needed to talk as soon as they were alone. "There's nothing to talk about, you lied to me, you lied to Joshua, you lied about stuff we promised each other we'd never do again. Just give me my fucking keys, and then you and your buddy can have all the threesomes and smoke and drink yourselves into the ground for all I care, I'm done." Candy was vibrating with emotion as she tugged on her hair.
Deon felt like his world was spinning out of control and this time he was sober. "My queen you don't mean that." He turns to Jason who was openly recording him. "Stop that. Why would you tell her anything like that? This is my fiancé man." Candy tells him to get out. He turns back to his queen. "No we need to talk. Jason my boy, please leave." Jason puts his hands up and says fine but don't ask him to come out of his way to jump start that rusty bucket of his anymore. Jason walks out the front door. Deon turns back to Candy. "See, he is gone now. We really need to talk." Candy says no he really needed to leave. He saw tears in her eyes. "My queen please, I had too much to drink last night, but I swear to you there wasn't any other females in my home."
"Why did you lie to Josh about covering the club? We trusted you. Have for a time now. You said you were done with smoking weed, and because I wouldn't let you come here drunk off your ass, you go back on your word?" Deon accuses her of being more pissed that he didn't cater to Joshua's demands, than she was about the weed or anything. "You know you damn right. Joshua didn't demand you to do shit. I was in the room with you, when he asked you to cover the fucking club, and you said yeah no worries I got you. So what happened between no worries I got you, to accusing him of using you, and just not showing up at all?"
"Here we go again you aren't mad about anything but the fact that I got tired of Joshua using me." Candy says it's business. "Well you don't have to worry about the business, or the band, because he fired us from them both." Candy says no Joshua may have fired him. "You can't possibly want to stay in the band or at that club. You have guys watching you and stalking you. Joshua doesn't care about your safety; all he seems to care about is this power trip he's on here lately. Did you know he has another share of the club? He claims it's for JC but the shares were doled out before the kid even came into the world. He just wanted a controlling share." Candy says it not a power trip and asks why Deon was going through Joshua's desk like that. "Oh I'm sorry, I almost forgot your hero worship of a man that will never want you." Candy rolls her eyes and says not this again. "Yes this again, do you hear yourself? I tell you that we just got fired, and you still are defending the using asshole."
Candy rolls up her sleeves and walks towards Deon poking him in the chest. "You want to talk about more than Josh. Ok buddy, here we go. You lied to me not just Josh, my name is on that club that is now a major crime scene. You got pissed off that I didn't want your lude, drunk, ass, here last night with me with Nikki here. News flash, when you're that drunk, your too loud, and way too rough, I wasn't in the mood to play keep away all fucking night. You got high, even after promising me that you wouldn't do that shit anymore. I'm not fired from the club or the band. Every time you can't get your way, you lash out at my friendship. You no called no showed as a manager." Deon grabs her finger telling her to stop poking him. She pulls out of his grasp. He says she is his, not The Davenport's, not the band's, but his woman. He demands she not continue working for that lying asshole and putting her life in danger. He grabs her and kisses her. She pulls away wipes off his forceful kiss and screams. "The only asshole I see right now is the one standing in front of me." One minute she was standing in front of him, the next she was on the ground. Deon had backhanded her hard enough to knock her off her feet. He steps towards her, angry tears streamed down her face as she held her warming face glaring up at him. He reaches for her, apologies spewing from his lips like a volcano spitting lava. She withdraws. It was hard to speak her face really hurt.
Deon couldn't believe that he had just done that. She took flight the minute his hand touched her face. "I'm so sorry you ok. I'm sorry. Oh my god I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me, my queen please say something." He steps to her to help her up she crawls away from him holding her face. Her next words pissed him off even more.
Candy didn't want him touching her, he kept getting closer and she wasn't comfortable with him here with her alone anymore. This was the first time he'd actually struck her the bar was different. She'd told her self that, in order to get over him shaking her up like a rag doll, and slinging her ass out of the way to fight Roman. "Get out. NO more I'm done." He suddenly grabs her off the ground by her shirt, pins her to her backdoor with his body begging her to stop crying and talk to him. Panic pushes out her words "Let me go you're squishing me." She felt lightheaded, he knew why she didn't like her fucking hands trapped between them like this. She didn't know if it was the fact he had her pinned, or her crying which wasn't helping. He was freaking her out. When he tries to kiss her to shut her up while crying himself Candy turned her face from him still trying to get free.
Deon grabs her chin and turns her face back to him and kisses her. He could hardly see her through his own tears. She'd said no more and that she was done. When he lifted his lips from hers, she passed out. "Please my queen I'm so sorry. I'll never hit you again I swear it, I love you." He then hears Jason say just stop man. Fuck Jason was still here? He hadn't left. Turning to see his friend holding up his phone. Deon lays Candy on the floor by the backdoor and runs after Jason quickly catching him. "You can't post that in a town this small. Brother you'll fucking ruin me. Please you were supposed to be gone." He wrestles Jason's phone out of his hand. Jason hits him and they start fighting. Deon hit Jason until the bigger man stopped moving. His world had spun out of control. He'd struck his queen. When he looks over at her she wasn't there. Looking around he surges to his feet. "Candy please let's talk." Then he hears it the tale-tale sign that she'd left, her car's engine revved and he saw the bright green hood speed down the hill. At the very least she wasn't heading to Joshua's home. Looking around he'd trashed her art fighting with his friend who still lay in the middle of the living room.
Opening the phone his friend had caught everything though it had no sound, that just made it worse. She said something and he'd backhanded her off her feet. The shot came from the kitchen window. She been trying to crawl away from him when he yanked her up and pinned her against the backdoor. Pinning her hands between them was even worse, the look in her eyes when he kissed her. She hadn't kissed him back her mouth had stayed firmly closed her nostrils flared and then she'd passed out. He hit all of her fucking triggers in a few seconds. He deletes the video.
The minute Deon was no longer squishing the hell out of her stealing her breath, her eyes popped open. Laying on her kitchen floor looking through the doorway into the living room, Deon was beating the shit out of the bigger man. Candy wasn't sticking around to see if that was only round one for them. Getting to her feet with the soundtrack of Deon cursing and hitting his friend Candy grabs her keys off the hook by the backdoor and stumbles out of her own home. No More was the mantra that stuck in her head. She'd given him a second chance, and this time he'd hit her and scared her ass by trapping her against her own damn backdoor. Getting in her car, she felt safer then she had in the last 20 minutes. She had to get out of here. There was no third strike, though it would later feel as if she was ripping out a piece of her heart, she would not die for love. She revved the engine and sped out of her driveway thankful that Deon or his buddy hadn't blocked her in, she would have drove over her own damn bush to get away. Knowing that Deon wouldn't leave his keys to her home she had one location in mind. If she told Joshua he'd go bat shit. She didn't need them fighting. She had to slow down to take the turn off to Logan's place. Now she sat in front of Logan's home. She hoped Deon didn't come looking for her. She loved her car, but it's neon green was highly recognizable in a sea of black, red, white, and blue cars that lined this quiet street. Oh fuck Bradley was here. Didn't he live in Houston? She'd call Logan, that was safer. She dialed his number and got no answer. She called the work number and Bradley answered. Using his last name. "Hey um is Logan near you I need to ask him for a favor."
Bradley looked out the window of Logan's place and saw the blond sitting in her car. He was watching Glenny and Tony today. Logan had taken off with Tracy and Frank to go fishing. It was hard enough to get Logan to officially take a day off. Bradley told his boss / buddy that he would man the phones and not to come back until he went fishing. Logan tried every excuse in the book to blow off the invite. Bradley had heard them all from Joshua dodging any family event that wasn't Christmas, Easter, or Thanksgiving with the family for years. Their projects were ahead of schedule, and one day would not sink any of them. Logan's work phone rings "Davenport. Um he's not in at the moment. Is it business related?" She sounded unlike her usually happy self. "I can do that and since he's not here I'll even give you the pretty lady discount. Her no thanks, was abrupt as fuck, someone had really pissed her off. "Okay do you know the model number of the ones we installed? Okay it's no problem, I'll look it up." Glenny sees Candy's car and starts asking to go out and play with Candy. "Um Sport, I think she's kind of busy maybe next time ok." Candy thanks him and says she really had to get going but to get back to her with a price and a time he could change her locks. "Will do. Hey Candy be careful." She hangs up and drives off. Bradley looks up her account and checks what kind of locks they had installed. Her house was artsy and Logan would have made the repairs from the fire just as artsy. Bradley wondered why she needed her locks changed. It wasn't his business maybe someone had secured a key illegally. She did have some nut out there watching her.
Candy had to get to Angel's house. Deon couldn't get on the property and she didn't have to leave if she didn't want to. She also had clothing in the room that she usually picked when at Angel's. Looking in the mirror she had to put something on her fucking face. Maybe Angel would have some of that cream did he have to hit her in the middle of the side of her face? Though a little higher and he could have put out her fucking eye, and a little lower he could have knocked out her damn teeth. Served her right she guessed for poking him. Was she in the wrong? So many thoughts were spinning in her head. She was about to just go to her office at LEGNA but then she would have to go in through the front. She didn't want anyone to see her. Angel's house was the safest and made the most sense. She drives up the back way as to not let on that she was back in the neighborhood. She could see the back of her home on this back street. Deon's car was still parked there and so was his friend.
Up at Ivey Mansion Angel helps get JC get ready for a trip with his Aunt Sophie. Sophie wanted to babysit saying she had not got a lot of time to spend with her nephew. Just as she was helping get JC in his car seat her phone rang with Candy's ringtone. She would call her girl back. "You sure you have everything?" Sophie says yes for the hundredth time, and tells Angel to go call her girl and stop worrying. "Just be careful." Sophie gets a little irritated and says yeah because she was going to really drive 100mph with her infant nephew in the car. Angel so wasn't going to take that bait, and leans in the back window, kisses her baby saying "JC keep your Aunt Soapy out of trouble, mommy loves you."
Sophie looks back and says "I got your Soapy. My nephew needs more clothes and I aim to get him some." Bobby pulls up saying he was ready. Angel didn't know that Bobby was going. Bobby says he was not leaving his nephew's clothing strictly up to his little fashion forwards sister, his nephew needed a few good onesies that were hilarious. Bobby climbs in the back seat. Sophie tells him to get his butt in the front, saying if she wasn't allowed to ride in the back and just play with JC he couldn't either. Bobby mumbles that Joshua's ringtone for Sophie was dead on she was bossy, as he got in the front seat.
After watching them drive out of the front gate Angel's phone rang as she reentered the house through the garage. The house announced that Candy was coming in the back door. "Hello, hey girl, are you ok? Yeah I heard the system log you in. Candy! What's wrong?" First Candy sounded off, then she just burst out crying into the phone. Angel walks through the house, and notices Candy leaning on the backdoor wearing her clay spattered yoga outfit looking down at her phone "Candy?" Candy looked up and opened her mouth to say something then looked back down at her phone. What happened to the side of her face? Angel wondered. "Oh no Candy did your stalker do that? Have you called the police?"
It had started, Deon was texting her she didn't want to answer. She wanted to turn off her phone and hide from the world. Hearing her girl say her name she looked up and then back down at another text begging her to return to the house. Angel asked about her stalker she'd forgot about the flowers guy. Those few hours ago chatting her girl seemed like years now. "Um" This was harder to say than she would have thought it would be. "No, Deon and I got into a fight I guess you could call it. I need to change clothes and I don't want to go back to my house right now." Angel says her room is ready for her anytime she needs it. She then asks Candy did she need anything else. "No I just, do you or Josh have any of that cream left?"
"Candy look at me." The side of Candy's face was swollen to the size of a baseball. "I think you should get that looked at girl your face is really swollen. What did he hit you with?" Candy makes a back swing motion, and says its sore but she really just wanted to get a shower and un-dirty clothes on. Angel nodded she understood her girl's request for a piece of cleansing quite all too well. "You go on get in the shower I think we have some upstairs."
Down at Sheldon Medical Center Luke sits in his desk. A knock sound on his office door. "Come" He wasn't expecting Chase to be standing in his doorway looking pissed off. "Hey everything ok?" Chase walks in and sits in front of him. Something told Luke he was not going to enjoy this meeting with his future father in law. "Is this about the Grandville North rebuild?" Chase shakes his head and ask Luke to look someone up that was employed by him. "OH hell, Ok what's the name?" Chase gives him a full name. "I don't have to search too hard he's my head nurse for the Trauma Unit." Chase pulls a folder from his briefcase, and starts speaking as if this wasn't a conversation between just the two of them, but like he was delivering a close in court. "Whoa, wait. How long have you been sitting on this?" Chase hands him another sheet of paper that was supposed to be filed but had never reached his desk." So why now after all this time did you decide to do what you should have in the first place?"
"Lucas you must understand my position on all of this. From the research I had done on him he is not neglectful or particularly unskilled. I didn't mention him by name but shortly after I got Amy out of town, I filed that report and had it sent to your practice. I don't know where it went, considering this is the first time you have laid eyes on it." Luke says he should have just told him. "I try my best to not set up personal attacks on people unless absolutely necessary. He pushed my hand this morning when he ordered my home burnt to the ground and didn't know or care whether I was inside or not." Luke asks was Chase's silence on this topic with him also in the hopes of protecting Amy, since she would get in trouble for illegally purchasing and consuming his stolen drugs? Chase sighs he had a lot of moves to make before dinner tonight. "That's only the tip of the iceberg. I've had him followed and some of the people partaking in your prescription loss, are not as reachable as going for the low hanging fruit that would be someone in Amy's position, a small business owner. The only reason I am bringing this to you in this fashion is for you to get him out of your network before I submit the rest of my report to the proper authorities." Chase knew that Luke would be pissed that he sat on this and didn't tell him face to face, he wasn't expecting this to be easy by any means. Hearing Michael talk this morning of Denton's order for the older man to commit possible murder, while in the act of committing an act of arson, for the continued safety of his family, which included his daughter, son, and grandchild was way too far. Chase's first instinct told him to go to the address listed and blow Denton away, but this morning when Amy got up so excited that it was Nicole's birthday something in him clicked. He would destroy the dealer, but not in a way that would get him locked away from his family and his woman. After letting Luke vent his frustration they were able to come to an agreement.
After Chase leaves his office Luke called his Department Head Team in for a mandatory meeting. As he spoke to the heads of all of his departments, he announces that there was a third party audit team auditing hospital drug utilization by means of defined daily doses per bed-day as they spoke. When he says it, he watches as Wendell squirms in his seat. He also announces that he needed to call a few of them in to one-on-ones immediately after the audit. The audit revealed Wendell Cole Denton had not only been stealing drugs from his own area, his number was also shown signing out drugs from the psychiatric ward. Denton was fired, fined, and escorted out by Sheldon Medical security at 2:30pm Luke watched as the local police took Denton from the security team. Luke puts out a job posting for Denton's position using one of Chase's Rebuild Grandville websites in the careers section. That was the unspoken signal to let Chase know he'd taken the proper channels and removed the thief from his payroll. Turning on the television in his office. At 4pm there was a breaking news story. The ATF the DEA and a few other agencies raided Wendell Cole Denton's home, where they found not only a sizable amount of Sheldon Medical supply drugs that was estimated to be approximately 10,700 dollars in value. They also found over 20,000 dollars in heroin and other illegal drugs. There were 24 females residing in the home. A few of them were underage runaways from other states.
Carla was glad she was meeting with Wolfe's men when Wendell got taken. She would have been where his house hoes are right now, behind bars, or in custody wishing to return to their families. Since her only family was her son, and her mother she doubted they would want to reunite her with anything besides the inside of a cage. So now she had nowhere to be. Glenn hadn't answered the phone. She'd seen his truck outside their home. Something told her to go visit her mom. It was stronger than it had ever been since her mom was committed to the mental intuition after watching her husband get whacked. She made her way to the mental health center her mom was housed at. Her mother didn't even know who she was, and kept asking for the only person she could not deliver, which was Eric Fairchild her dead father. She told her mother she loved her, and left the center with a heavy heart. She wasn't even important enough to her own mother to stay in her long-term memory. Putting on a fake smile she redid her make-up and rides back to Wolfe's home. She gets a text from Wendell. The driver that called himself Mr. Wolfe's number one, asked what the dealer wanted. "He says he needs me to pick him up." Carla wasn't going to lie for the dealer if he managed to disappear that would be bad if Wolfe suspected she would go with Wendell. She firmly had her head on straight for once in her life, and wasn't willing to lose said life over a drug dealer that just looked at her like she was a shiny object he could blow his load in. Meeting his girls, as he called them was eye opening and depressing. Some of them were still diluted into thinking that he was their savior. The stories they shared with her just made her skin crawl. Carla knew the story all too well, you're riding with your supposed new online boyfriend, and his car dies now, it's up to you to make some quick money to save the day. One girl was afraid to leave because he told her that no one would care if she returned. The older ones were the ones that were just there for drugs and whatever he had left in the tank as far as fucking. Carla had the misfortune of fucking the dealer he would never be labeled good in her book. She asked Mr. Number 1 what to say to the dealer. He told her what to respond with after speaking really fast Irish into his phone. She sends the message, she was to keep the dealer thinking she was on his side, up until Wolfe's men made their move. She didn't even want to know what that move would be and just hoped they gave her ass a warning before it happened.
That evening around 6pm Candy gets a call from Bradley asking her did she want to change her locks now or wait till morning. Candy responded "We can do it now the faster the better." Bradley asks her was she at home right now. "No I'm at your brother's place I'll meet you there." Bradley says he could come up and get her. Candy thought about it really hard. What if Deon was still at the house when she pulled up. Deon had already texted her more in the past few hours than he did in the past few months. He blamed him hitting her on first Joshua and he fighting, and then on her for pushing him over the top. To none of this she responded just watched the screen move one sided with his texts.
Deon: Hey I made Jason leave and he is gone this time please my queen come back to me.
Deon: This is your home
Deon: Candy Rabinenvitch We need to TALK NOW
Deon: You are out in MY car that I bought you and you won't even ANSWER my text. My mother was right you are so ungrateful. She told me to buy myself a car instead of buy you one. Once again I let Joshua and Angel snow me into buying you a car.
Candy presses the button to take away the moving text screen and reopens her call with Bradley. "Brad, yes please come and get me." He says will do, and tells her he'll call her back when he gets on the property. Within minutes Bradley calls her. Candy didn't know what to say about Deon. She'd parted her hair so that her bangs covered the side of her face. It was still weird to see Megan's car pull up and not half expect her dead crazy ass to jump out talking shit. The first time Bradley drove the little blue car to the gate he had a hell of a time getting through with his access card because the car itself was on the red banned list. It took Frank to come I.D. Brad himself before the new crew would let him on the grounds. Getting in, Brad says it was easier to get in this time. Candy says "That's good. Um Bradley, before we go to my house there is something I think it's only fair I tell you. I had hoped Deon would leave before it was time for you to change the locks." Candy risks a glance at Bradley.
"Humph Ms. Candy your man doesn't scare me," She says to please just call her Candy. "Can do, I just never know what to call you. You hired Conner Construction to do a job and usually when I'm on the clock I call people their last name putting Mr. or Ms. in front, but since I know that would probably get me told off, or fired, I went with your first name instead." She says Candy is fine. "Okay, you can call me whatever you want, most of it I'll answer too. If you want Deon gone, I'll make him leave before I put any new locks in. I also got the new garage code. I know Logan said you don't use it a lot as a garage, more like a drying studio for your art, but if Deon knows the code, it wouldn't make a lot of sense not to change that too." Joshua had told him that he'd fired the bass player so Bradley guessed they had a disagreement since she didn't want Deon to be able to come and go in her home freely. Her phone dinged every three seconds. She just kept stopping the tune. Her next question after reading a message that seemed longer than ever, kind of pissed him off that the bass player was taking credit for something he barely had a hand in. She asked did he know if Deon put up most of the money for her Christmas present. Pulling out of the gate Brad had to control his tongue. "if I remember Joshua's breakdown of it, Deon picked the color and bought the plates. If you don't mine me asking why would he be bringing it up now the car was bought over two months ago and hidden in my brother's garage until Christmas."
Candy felt a little better she'd been about to give Deon the fucking car she'd done without before, and if that was his only concern she would have returned it to him. It made sense though, his freak out about seeing a green car and thinking it was hers. Joshua was more into cars and could give you a detailed list of the differences between her car's make and the year before. She also knew that Deon had blew through most of his concert money. Just like she had, she'd bought her first hot tub. The thought of who ended up in said hot tub made her shiver as she tried to shut out the image of all her shit on fire. Bradley asked was she cold she shook her head. Pulling up to her house the front door was wide open. She could see straight through to the kitchen. At least there was no longer a beached whale of a man in her living room on the floor. She looks around for Deon's car. It was gone. He'd left her house wide open. "Real mature Deon" she mumbles as she gets out of the car. Bradley tells her to stay outside a minute until he checked to see if anyone had made base camp already. Bradley entered the house and she followed, he was here to change her locks not be her hero.
After he was satisfied that the broken glass in the living room was from the bass player and not some other nut that thought her open house was comfy. Bradley said he'd start with the garage first since there was less to do, and work his way towards the front of the house. She said ok and went to find a broom to sweep up what used to be her ornate coffee table or at least he thought it used to be a table. He walks out in the attached garage. He could hear her in there sweeping. The part that pissed him off was that he heard her crying. It wasn't his business. He had to keep telling himself that. Her phone rang not just the tune for her texts. She told someone that she was sorry that she wouldn't be able to come tonight claiming she didn't feel well. "Do the job you were hired to do Brad, nothing more nothing less." Bradley mumbles to himself.
Bradley had set the new code for the garage and started on her backdoor. He kept talking to himself. Maybe he was like Joshua when he was doing something. As much as they fought as kids well, Joshua was a kid, but as much as they fought in the past they had some similar personality traits. Joshua would have not even let her in her own home if he thought someone was in here that wasn't supposed to be. Bradley clearly didn't want her in here when he was checking for, as he called them bums that may have got comfortable in her open house. Nikki had called asking her to her birthday dinner with her mom and Chase. Candy didn't want to be out in public right now. She didn't feel all that posh under her curtain of bangs that were trying to curl the usual way she curled them. Seeing that Deon and his fat friend had broken her damn coffee table that she had made hurt, because it was one of the few pieces that survived the fucking fire. The little table survived heat and smoke and the fire department but lay a Sumo wrestler and a bass player on top of it, and presto glass shards. Bradley went to his car to get a piece and she heard him talking louder than mumbling to himself. She looks out the window and Deon was back. "Oh crap what now?" Candy says as she heads out on the front porch.
Deon pulled up and saw a male in his queens's yard. He looks around for the car he helped buy. He'd sent Candy a message that if they were over she should have fun walking. All he saw was, wait he knew that car. Getting out of his car the guy stood there watching him. "So since she couldn't score with Joshua she's going for the druggie that shares his last name." the guy closes his door and tells him to back up before he gets knocked out.
Bradley was grabbing the rest of his tools when Deon pulled up and jumped out of his car. The bass player marches towards him. Bradley rolls his eyes as he closes his door and stood by his car. He told himself countless times to keep his two cents to himself. That went out of the window when Deon started yelling at him. "Look boy how about you step back before I knock your ass out." Deon stepped back turned and started walking towards the porch. He says over his shoulder to stay away from his queen. Candy comes out of the house and Deon runs up on the porch and grabs Candy yelling about her fucking hero's brother. Candy was franticly trying to free herself yelling at him she wasn't fucking Bradley that he was here to change her locks. "Look asshole, I'm here to lock you out, let her go." Deon pushes Candy out of his way she fell on the swing. Bradley asks her is she ok and she nods. Deon lost what was left of his mind and charges Bradley knocking him off the porch. They collide in a heap over the railing on to the driveway. Fuck that was going to hurt like a son of a bitch. Bradley starts beating the shit out of the smaller man until the fucker gain some leverage from somewhere and starts choking his ass. Bradley tried hitting the guy, but his strikes weren't doing shit. He heard Candy screaming for Deon to stop, she was starting to sound far away "OH Fuck" was the last thought that popped in his head before darkness claimed him.
Candy had screamed until her voice was raw for Deon to stop he wasn't affected by Brad's blows. Even though he was bleeding. He hooked his feet over the railing and was using his arms to cross choke Bradley. When Bradley stopped moving she runs in the house and right back out, down the stairs. She begs him one more time to please stop before he killed Brad. When he didn't stop his assault on the motionless Bradley she pulled her defense necklace and threatened to zap him. Deon charges at her accusing her of defending her newest dick. 'He's just here to change the locks." He was no longer choking the life out of her friend's brother. He was chasing her, when he grabbed her by the back of her shirt she turned around, flipped open the capsule, and zapped Deon, he hit the ground twitching. She had to check on Bradley. Running back around the side of the house she gets on her knees, and starts tap and shout on Bradley, probably giving him more bruises. He just had to wake up. Joshua would never forgive her if he didn't, this was all her fault. Suddenly his eyes opened. Candy stopped hitting him and started massaging his throat but still called his name. He flinched and then their eyes met. "Bradley?"
Bradley's conciseness returned he would have sworn he woke in heaven with an angel bending over him. Then feeling kicked in, with the exception of the fact that she was slapping the shit out of him, and he was sore all over. He was laying on the ground she was crying his name. She then started rubbing his neck. Ok nope, not Heaven, didn't think so angels don't cry, and I'm no saint. He meets her watery eyes and froze. Speak dumb ass and maybe she'll stop crying. but then she'll stop touching you too. "Sore but I'll live, please stop crying." He lifts his hand to wipe away her tears. and that's when he saw it she had a bruise on her face. Bradley struggles to a sitting position. "I'm getting the fuck out of here. It's getting dark." She says she understood and sat back on her knees. He stands up and almost kisses the ground again. "Ok," wiping the blood from his busted lip he says. "driving is a no right now. Hey, since I drove you down here, can you please drive me back to Josh's place? Logan will be pissed but I'll call him to finish your locks."
Candy looks where Bradley was laying and snatched her keys that she'd given Deon. She runs and locks her front door and tells Bradley "let's, go even if he has a spare key when the juice stops he's going to be 10 types of pissed at me for using it on him." Bradley got to his car while leaning on her. She didn't mind, he'd come over here to change her locks not almost be killed by Deon. Bradley gets settled in the passenger seat of his car. Candy quickly gets in the driver's seat and they peel out of her driveway and up the hill. She glances back at her yard in the rearview mirror, well she knew that Deon was moving, he was heading towards his car. If he thought, he was going to race her to Angel's house he would lose this one. She watched as his headlights flickered then died. A calm stole over her as she reached the rear gate. The guard stopped her and looked inside. He then waved them into the back yard. She got Bradley as close to the back steps as she dared drive a car she wasn't used to. His car had a longer front, and she wasn't in the mood to hit anything. "Do you want me to help you up the stairs?"
"No, I'm good now. That guy is on something. Trust me I used to be just like that, you could hit me, cut me, didn't matter." She says she believed it, considering he was walking to his car when they left and she'd hit him with enough juice to knock him out. "Oh trust me he'll feel it all in the morning, when the shit wears off. He was flying on something." She says he likes to smoke weed. "That had to be a blend of something harder than weed. My guess and I know you may not want to hear this, but he might be experimenting with Heroin. Or a really good synthetic of the shit. I still don't get where he suddenly gained so much leverage on my ass, he's not that heavy." Candy describes what the fight looked like from her view. "That would explain it. Besides it has been a long while since I've been speared off my feet." They walk up the back stairs. She'd gone quiet but kept looking at him. "Look I know I probably look like hell but you don't have to stare. It isn't like I was all that good looking an hour ago."
Candy already felt bad that Deon had attacked Bradley. She felt she needed to apologize since she was the one that put him in danger. His statement was said to make her laugh. She was making him uncomfortable. Yet another personality trait he and Joshua shared, if you looked at Joshua too long without saying something he would look away, or ask what was wrong. Smiling at that thought she quickly looks away as they reach the door about to head into the house, she put her key in the lock, and looked up to be Identified. The camera over the back door turned green and the door is pulled open by Joshua. She tries to let Bradley go in first. Joshua asks him what happened to him. Brad stayed outside and waved her inside saying heroes first. "Look you wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for me."
In the front of the house, Sophie returned with JC and Joy who walked in with shopping bags draped off of her in all kinds of directions, and says to Angel "hey, Bobby got called out for something so I hope you don't mind that I stepped in and played auntie." Angel takes JC out of the new carrier that he was in and holds him as Joy puts the bags on the couch.
"With everything that has been going on today, I'm glad you were with my baby, and my sister." Sophie asks what was going on. "Joshua fired Deon who has been taking it out on Candy and even Bradley. Candy and Deon got into a fight, Michael apparently ran away from home last night according Sally, after waking and freaking out about a letter he wrote her, she runs downstairs to find him on the sofa. She said she was relived until she smelled smoke on his clothing, and saw that he had grass on his shirt front. He won't tell her where he ended up since it is obvious he went somewhere. She is really pissed at him but scared because he seems more nervous than he was. This time he didn't tell Joshua. Cassandra called and said someone blew the whistle and had federal teams up Chadwick's brother's butt. Wendell Denton was fired from his Job at Sheldon Medical this afternoon. Feds took him down and closed his drug house down. The last news report I heard was that the sicko escaped. Cass is freaking out because she doesn't trust that he won't blame her parents like her ex did and go after them since right now it looks pretty much like he has nothing to lose." Sophie asked was Candy still staying or had she left. "Candy Is staying the night and Bradley is too. Candy because she doesn't want to go home right now, and Bradley because Joshua won't let him try to drive home" Sophie asks why not. "Let Candy tell it, Deon almost killed Bradley in her front yard after knocking him off her porch backwards into her driveway, and choked him until he passed out. The other reason Candy isn't going home is because one, she doesn't know if Deon is still at her house, and two, since he's already hit and manhandled her today she's afraid he'll do it again for her using her necklace on him to make him stop choking Bradley."
Sophie was stunned "Wow, Deon must have stepped up his fighting game, if he got the upper hand in a fight with Bradley." Bradley comes out of the kitchen. "Damn, he messed you up bad." Bradley had a busted lip, bruises all over his hands, both eyes were swollen, a cut in his hairline, and though he'd probably changed into Joshua's The Davenport long sleeved Management shirt, he just looked wiped out. He walks over and sits on the sofa with a grimace. He then tells Sophie his theory of why Deon wasn't even affected by him busting the bass player open, and Candy's description on how the smaller man got such leverage on his butt. "That'll do it, are you going to be ok you look like you're not really steady on your feet? Where the hell is Joshua, the last thing we need is to have to bail his crazy butt out of jail tonight for slicing Deon for messing with Candy or you."
"He's still in the kitchen talking to Candy." Bobby's woman asked did Brad want to press charges on Mr. Baza. "I'm not out to get him, he is going to have enough hell on his hands trying to find another job. Besides, I baited him on purpose, because I didn't want him pushing and shoving on the blonde. I inserted myself in to that situation and it got out of my control."
Over at Bella's Big Pie, Nicole, Chase, and Amy are seated after informing their waitress that they were no longer waiting for the fourth person the reservation was made for. They still received a large booth which was fine with Nikki, because she really wasn't in the mood to be sitting really close to Chase. Her mom sits down and Nikki sits next to her, Chase sits across from them. Nikki considered this a win in her book. They'd went shopping and he'd bought her the newest tour jacket for Personal Touch. She liked the jacket, and was very polite when she thanked him. He looked surprised when she called him Mr. Ivey. Nikki was just glad he didn't ask her to continue calling him Chase. She thought of Chase as her mom and her friend that made her mom laugh. Mr. Ivey was the man running for Mayor and dating young girls that would make her mom try to hide the way she felt. She'd tried to text Candy but Candy must be even sicker than she sounded even when she declined the invite. This was Candy and Deon's favorite place to bring her and Glenny. She would get to see her Glenny and even Janet on the weekend. Oops, she just zinged Ivey about the appetizers. She wondered did he even notice. Nope, grownups were so lost sometimes. She smiled to herself. Mr. Ivey gets a call oh surprise, surprise he had something else to do. He stands saying he has a call and promises to return as quickly as he could. When he got up her mother starts asking her what is wrong. "What do you mean? I didn't say anything. All I asked Mr. Ivey was if he wanted "The All Around the World Sampler" because I'm sure he's been all around the world."
Amy had to stop this before it got worse. "Oh considering you are calling Chase Mr. Ivey which I will say is very polite. You can control your tone but honey your face, especially your eyes are just like mine, they give us away every time. That was the first call he's taken since picking us up this afternoon." Nikki retreated into mumble town. Putting her finger under her daughter's chin and lifting her gaze to her own Amy says "No please, just tell me what's wrong. Has he said anything out of the way to you? Did you leave anything out about your trip to come see me, or your trip home? If there's something I'm missing, please tell me now." Amy dreaded her girl's answer. She'd let her girl down before and she'd be damned if she was going to be so blind ever again. She'd trusted Nickolas, and she'd been wrong. She was partially relived when her girl spoke of why she was so formal with Chase. "Nicole, stop ok honey, Chase explained what was happening and he wasn't dating that woman. I know what it looked like. He was pretending to date her for a greater cause." Her girl asked her how she could be so sure when it was all over the media. "He came all the way across the country to get me. He was willing to let me fly back in his jet without him if I didn't want him to come back with me. I even called his bluff, and he would have stayed in that limo if I hadn't texted him to come with. When you were looking at those pictures did he look happy as he does when he was at the hotel with us? Their deal was only public displays like a kiss on the cheek or a hug he didn't like her touch. He was doing this to keep a toddler he knows safe from some really bad people." Amy left out the part about the woman originally trying to kill Chase that part she would not say to her child.
Nikki started putting things together. "So I guess it was true what Janet said, I thought she was just on Chase's side. Most of the pictures they aren't even touching at all. The lady is doing all the kissing on the cheek. Chase is coming I'm sorry for being a brat mom." Her mom tells her she is fine and didn't know what the whole story was. "I thought he was out to get you or maybe the younger lady dumped him."
Chase returns to the table he was pissed off but this was not the time or place to display his discontent. Amy raises an eyebrow he gives her a brief shake of his head and mouths later. He couldn't believe it, all that fucking work and Wendell Cole Denton was back out on the fucking street. Bobby was calling him to tell him that he was gathering his team because he didn't like how easy it could be to point out that Chase set the wheels in motion on the dealer's ass. There were at the very least 5 local cops involved in Denton's escape. They finish their meal. He did notice that Nicole had started calling him Chase once more, and had stopped making anything he said into some kind of double entendre. Taking them to Amy's was very quickly changed to spending the night at Ivey Suites in his very secure Penthouse, when Amy shakily, but silently, shows him her phone screen. Something or someone had tripped her home alarm and the system went auto to the police. It was the local police that let that filth out of his cage. Chase wasn't taking any chances on Wendell paying his woman and her child a visit. Nicole soon went to bed. He stood in his master bedroom looking out the window at the Grandville skyline at night, with the soundtrack of Amy and her girl talking. He couldn't hear what they were saying but at the very least It was clear that Nikki enjoyed her birthday. Amy reenters their room and asked him why he seemed upset even before she showed him the alarm alert on her phone. He explains what he did and how Wendell was wrapped up and delivered to the police and they still managed to lose him. Amy asked what did he mean. "He escaped, or rather local officers let him out the fucking back door. That's why I suggested coming here, if he has the law in his pocket even with his accounts frozen, it leads me to believe it is more than a money contract."
Authors Note: Is there a chance that Candy will take Deon back, or was his latest action their end game? Who set off Amy's alarm. As always I welcome your thoughts and opinions. Thankyous are in order, thanks to my readers and my beta team. Please review it helps a great deal.: End note
