Chapter 44 The Failings of Felonious F*ck ups
The next day Mark and Stacy show up at a signing. John Cena waves them over, looking at each other they walk over. "That's a real bummer about you get pitched from Mania." Mark grunts, "I could put in a good word for you. You know my word has weight around here." Mark nodded slowly. So, John had lost his mind and started believing his storyline, reminding himself not to punch the motherfucker out, Mark puts both hands in his hoodie pockets. They talk of a deal that would end with John getting the belt from Mark. "So, Mark what do you say? I mean if you refuse all I'll have to do is wait for them to strip you of the strap, and get it that way. My way you get a check before you leave for good." Mark says he wasn't planning on leaving. He had the strap for almost two years now and wasn't giving it up without a fight. "You play that hard ass shit with me and I will end your career for good." John says as he steps up in Mark's face.
Mark had enough of this and pushes John backwards out of his face. John hits the ground, rolls on his back, and jumps back to his feet. "Boy, you couldn't beat half my ass let alone all of it go sit your dumb ass down somewhere." Stacy played her part of the scared bystander well, when she tells Mark don't upset him. "He knows where to find me." Mark walks off Stacy runs behind him. When outside, they stop walking fast and slow down so they can hear John lose his shit and start talking about how he would get Taker's belt with or without his help.
Over at Sheldon Medical Grandville North plaza, Luke heads into one of the boardrooms and everyone stops talking. This was his third time calling a meeting since the takeover, and the restart of him holding himself accountable for writing a book he was paid to write. A few of his head of staff for other locations where here. Carmella his newest head of Medical observation was here. She looked up at him and back at her iPad with a smirk. She'd been head observer on Chase and Joshua's case and had come along way. He starts the meeting and Carmella snickers. Stopping his speech in mid word he asks, "Is there something amusing about the new programs I'm starting?" Carmella says no she likes the program ideas and loves the fact that he is moving forward with writing his new book. "I've been trying to not make it so clinical. Sophie has been a huge help with that." He last statement is met with most of the females in the room laughing. "What is wrong with you all?"
Carmella the observation lead says, "It looks like both of Sophie Ivey's love interest has a book coming out soon." All the female department heads that were chatting with her when Doctor Sheldon entered the room stopped laughing. Diamond Rabinenvitch head trauma nurse, told her too far. Lucas asks what she was talking about. Carmella hands him her iPad. Carmella sneers at the blonde. "That's why nobody likes you. Except maybe the doctor which if what I read is real, you may have a chance with him since this guy surely won Sophie over once he can do it again and…" Dr. Sheldon left the room, just got up and walked out. Dr. Sandra Middlebrooks second in command, stands and dismisses the meeting. Everyone leaves the room, before she can speak another word Sandra ask Carmella to please stay seated. "Oh, boo hoo the man that has it all and never had to work for shit got caught in his feelings."
Sandra's first reaction was the slap the taste out of Luke's most decorated observation tech. Sophie and she had spoken about this woman. Luke had praised the young woman for going to college and working. He had even recently given her a lead position in medical observation. "What you are doing is very unprofessional. This is your first and only warning Carmella Young If you persist to push the envelope in this direction and show such disrespect, you will find yourself in the unemployment line." Carmella says she was just kidding. "Though not documented with such an audience this time, you have made similar claims to one miss Sophie E. Ivey, Dr. Sheldon's fiancé. If I were you, I would stop before my words earn me a lawsuit. What you have said is very defamatory." Carmella tries what she must say to Lucas, about how much she loves her job, and how she has learned so much and on and on. "If all of what you have just said was true you would not be trying to publicly slander, the very man that has been in your corner since the Sheldon network changed hands." Carmella says that Luke changed, he used to date. "Has he ever dated you?"
Carmella sucks her teeth and says "First off, it's not slander this dude has a chapter about Miss Ivey and when this book hits you bet your ass I'll be there to pick up the pieces. I dated Luke briefly, and he was never this public. Why the hell does Sophie Ivey once again get what she wants?" Sandra asked what did Carmella think Miss Ivey received. "She got all of him, and all I got was a date. I asked him to a medical convention years ago when he first became a doctor and he flat out refused as if it wasn't bad enough that I had to talk myself into asking him. Last year he asked her, and just when I thought someone was finally going to show him what rejection felt like, he just up and is about to marry her, it's not fair. She been doing this shit to me since Grandville South High. Sophie Ivey is living my life, with what could have been my man. Besides money what does she have that I don't? we both black, successful…" both women are shocked into silence when Luke speaks from the doorway.
"My love, Sophie Elaine Ivey has, my love, there isn't going to be any pieces to pick up. This article, you hold so dear, is a promotional tool. Now miss Carmella Young please do us both a favor and leave." She asked was she fired. "Not yet, if you remain in my presence you will be, as of now you have three days of mandatory leave without pay." Luke hands her a slip of paper and asked that she sign it. She read it and says she wouldn't do it again, and she was sorry. "I'm sorry you believed you had a platform to publicly affront me in a meeting among my heads of staff." The young woman signs the paper and stomps out of the office. Sandra asked was he alright. "I'll be fine. I'm going to head to Grandville South campus." Sandra asked had he spoke to Sophie about the article, and had he read said article. "No and no, but lots of people do things like this, and if it were true Sophie would tell me, right? We are ok and I want it to stay that way. if she wants to talk about it fine." Sandra recommends that he read the article. Luke became angry and says, "For what, this guy got shut down by her in a bar over there, and figured he'd write some fictional bullshit." Sandra says in a calm tone that he doesn't believe that, which is why he is angry. "You damn right I'm angry, but you didn't hear the certainty in Sophie's voice when she told me if I lose it again, she's done. I'm not going to push her into this jock's arms if any of what has Carmella so damn excited is true, by bringing this up." Sandra asked how serious was he when he dated Carmella. "In her head, we dated two weeks. I took her to dinner, she wanted me to stay over at her place, but she lived clear out in Glenview, and I had an early shift, so I said no. Two weeks of her texting me, and whining at me, after that then she invites me to the convention like I told her, the truth is, that I wasn't going. She accused me of thinking I was too important to hang with my staff. Sandra, what people don't understand is, if Jeff and Daniel my PR guys, along with my father hadn't recommended I go last year, to put a face on the newest center we opened this year, I would have sent you again. I am glad that I followed instruction, because that request for me to go, gave me a reason to see Sophie outside of the hospital. I never would have dreamed that a convention that I avoided like the plague, would give me the chance to build with the woman that's going to marry me."
Over at Ivey Mansion, Angel, Sophie, Alice, Amy, Joy, and Cassandra all head out to the limo that will take them and the convoy of the blended STOP team to the mall. Candy and Nikki were watching JC since Angel didn't want him out of the house for right now. Alice comments on his curly hair and how red it is. Angel says, "thank you" with a shrug, not knowing what to make of the comment.
"Oh, yes dear he is darling. He looks nothing like your husband though. Are you sure Joshua Davenport is the father and not the ginger you were photographed on a date with?"
Angel puts her hand over Cassandra's mouth before she verbally rips Amy's mom a new one. Cassandra nips her finger, she moves her hand. Angel and the rest of the family had seen the hot sheets that claimed that JC was conceived with Damen Rice since he performed at her bachelorette party. The picture was taken of them sitting on a stage when he did his "Cheer's Darlin" song. "I'm a fan of his work, but the picture you and half the world is making a big deal out of is one, that was taken at my party on a stage. I was already 30 weeks along, and had not been anywhere near Mr. Rice in years." Angel gets a text.
Sophie: This heifer got some nerve.
Angel: I know, but I'm trying my best to be nice. I'm so damn tired of that pic. Hell, I've performed with Rice before, and never has any of this bullshit hit the sheets like this. I'm so glad you and Candy and Cass were there.
Sophie gets a text thinking it is Angel. She looks down at her screen. There was one from Angel but also another one from Adina with a link.
Adina: Sophie please read this article I received it and I thought you should know what is being said.
Sophie hits the link and read the first three paragraphs before she knew it. She didn't know what to do first. She texts Adina.
Sophie: For all the time for him to write this he picks now? The article said the book will come in 2 months. That's the same timeframe Luke's book comes out. (Hand to forehead emoticon)
Adina: Are you ok, do you need me to fly out there?
Sophie: No, but me and Mr. Chabal are going to have words.
Sophie gets a call from her office manager telling her she has a package from one Sebastien Chabal. When she tells the group that she had to make a quick run to her office Alice says she is just like her father. Sophie spoke before as Angel would put she could clean it up. "why thank you and Amy is nothing like you." '
Alice's eyes widen at the comment, and says "Well, I think with work she could be."
Angel interprets her before Sophie can say anything else. "Okay Sophie see you soon, and be careful."
"On second thought I think I'll stay, that is what couriers are for."
They head into the Mall, and Alice makes a few more comments about things that she clearly read. She turns to Amy and tells her it was so nice of Chase to have a dinner in her honor. Sophie received her package and mostly read and bought shoes. Alice asked Angel how long it took Chase to adopt her.
Cassandra says "Considering she's an adult I don't see why you even care. It's not like you will gain anything from it." Cass whispers to Angel it's a good thing it was just them because Joshua or Candy would have ripped the old hag a new face already.
At lunch Sophie puts away the book with no cover and rejoins the conversation. Though she still seemed distracted. Alice says, "Welcome back dear." Sophie glares at her. "You shouldn't make that face it is very un-becoming of you. I should know I'm a model. I don't know why we aren't getting on more famously Sophie Elaine we both have been down the runway." Once again Sophie excuses herself, puts her phone in front of her face and walks away from the table.
Sophie had never liked for people to address her as Sophie Elaine, Chase didn't do it unless he was extremely angry at her, which was rare, hell Angel didn't even do that shit. The only person that never stopped calling her that was her mother and since Sophia was dead, Sophie thought she'd got away from hearing her first and middle name run together like that anymore. She calls Luke who answers via vid chat. He asked is everything ok. "This lunch date with Alice was so a bad idea. She is pushing my buttons and I'm about to pop her one. Other than that, we need to talk. I have in my hands an advanced copy of a book that a former boyfriend wrote." Sophie watches his face as he didn't look surprised his expression remained neutral that was good she thinks to herself.
Luke says he heard there was a snippet then asked did he really write a whole book about her. Sophie says "no it was a chapter and a letter at the end." She recommends they both read it together so there won't be any surprises or confusion. After talking with Luke some of the tension was lifting, she returns to the table with the woman. Alice asks Amy when she was going to have a child with Chase. Amy pales and says they had not spoken of children.
"You're not getting any younger, and It would be so nice to have a grandchild with good genes for once."
Amy got up and says "You have a granddaughter, that is not only on the honor roll, but she is athletic and has a great work ethic. Which is more than you did for me."
"Well, I never would have thought you would see things that way after all I have done for you. You were a screw up, I'm so sorry we let you move out of the state to go to school. Your father wanted to stall your car, but I thought that was going too far. I should have let him then maybe you wouldn't be here trying to restart your life with a man that…"
"That loves me, that loves my child more than even my parents do, a man that was willing to invite you and my father into his home, just to make me happy. I'm not seeing a bad guy here."
"Well, don't come crying to me when he stops waiting on you to give him a child, and dumps you. Men like him are all about legacy. You don't honestly think he would have stayed married to his first wife so long if wasn't for her having his offspring, do you?"
Everyone apart from Alice, gets up to leave the awkward scene. Angel and Sophie looks at each other, then back at Alice. Cassandra had tried to keep her comments to herself. Getting up and moving closer to Alice she leans over and speaks in a soft tone so she would not gain too much attention as Alice stays seated with her, as the rest of the women leave the table. "Alice, you keep opening your mouth and rudeness keeps leaping to the surface. You haven't cared to be a part of your own daughter's life for a decade and a half. This is what I suggest, If you mean it and only if you mean it, apologize to your child and your grandchild, because you are going to want them in your life one day, and the door to that opportunity is closing. Right now, your daughter Amy, wants desperately for you to stop the shenanigans and treat her like a person that you birthed and once upon a time claimed to love, not just someone to measure your self-worth against. Your attacks, on Chase, our family and, my nephew is to stop. In a few short days, you will be among more Ivey's than you will be able to handle, and if your words today are any indicator to how you will react at the dinner, I would advise you to skip it, and go back to where ever the hell you came from, because my sister and her sister are civil when they feel they must be, others may not be so nice." Alice gets to her feet and in Cass's face as she says she is not afraid of Cass nor is she afraid of her family. "Back up bitch, or I'll head butt your ass." Alice backs up a bit. "I used to do what you are doing and it nearly cost me my entire family, parents included, just something to think about. You keep pushing her away and she'll give up on you. Is that what you want?" Alice says no. "Everyone has a tipping point, that point when they say fuck it, fuck you, I think you are standing on the edge of Amy's love and patience diving board, she is never going to pick you over her child's happiness, or her own, nor should she have to. It will be no one's fault but yours when she cuts you from her life for good. I don't know her as a very defensive person but every time you spoke negatively about Nikki, did you notice her tongue got a little looser each time you attacked? Take it from me, I've been on the outside looking in, and tried my damnedest to bust back in, and all it got me was self-propelled further out of the family until I changed my approach, among other things. If you want to be a part of this they'll welcome you as they did me, if not, go head, keep up the negative push back, but also be ready to deal with the reaction to your negative actions and words." Cassandra gets to her feet and walks away, catches up the others, Joy asked her was she ok. "Yeah, I'm fine." They head into a few more stores, Alice doesn't say any more cringe worthy things for the rest of the trip. She even apologizes to Amy which forgives her. Amy was happier than she was when she arrived at the mansion to start this shopping voyage.
Angel sends Sophie a text and Sophie responds that yeah, she saw it and she guessed they would have to just wait and see. Cass sends Sophie a message asking had she heard about the book? Sophie sends back a yes. Cassandra sends back an emoticon wiping a hand over its forehand. She then asks would Sophie be offended if she did an interview for the publication. Sophie told her not to do it until she spoke to Sebastien Chabal because she felt there were things he needed to omit before he ruined a life and no, not her own.
Cassandra D: Fair enough I guess. I got the email with the snippet from the chapter you are featured in, Jonathon told me to make you aware of it. When I saw the coverless book, you were reading, I figured someone had beat me to it. Please remind Luke of his Interview date about his book with me, that man of yours, is so damn busy.
Sophie says will do and their shopping trip ends when one of the female STOP team members walks into the dressing room and asks that the Ivey / Davenport party please follow her out of the rear exit. The women follow her, and Sophie asks what is going on as they get in a Hummer limo different from the one they came in. Joy asked the same question. The woman says the other limo was compromised and she was instructed by Field Commander Robert Hawk-Ivey himself, to get them out of the mall and to safety. Joy gets on her phone and speaks to Bobby. She then pulls up a live stream of someone riding up on a motor bike and shooting up the lead STOP team vehicle that was parked in the parking space next to the first limo which was now trashed. The mall was now surrounded and the gunman was at large. There was an APB put out on the bike and the rider.
"Fuck, I thought Ivey Shield was bulletproof." Bobby says the outside of the limo was trashed but the interior wasn't harmed, he points out that even with that much firepower the windows were still intact. Joy asked Bobby who was driving lead car, and if the Agent was ok? Bobby says he was arriving on scene right now and the Agent wasn't in the car when it happened. Which is why the shooter remains at large. "Yeah, I was wondering how a shooter got to shoot at your guys and still be breathing."
With only hearing Joy's side of the conversation Cassandra says "Okay, verbal foreplay later, what the hell is going on?" Sophie hands her phone to Cass and says they were in deep shit by the looks of it. Joy explains what Bobby just told her. Alice asked was this publicity stunt just like the one with the other limo crash that involved Sophie Elaine? Sophie puts in her earbuds. With outrage in her gaze, Angel opens her mouth to say something but is cut off by Cassandra. Cassandra says "Alice, your dumb bitch is showing, that wasn't a stunt I should fucking know, I am head of our audio-visual relations department. You were doing so well this last couple of hours." Alice says she is afraid. "If you think we aren't your fucking insane. Please just stop talking until we get to the house, then you can go back to Amy or Chase's place. My recommendation still stands that you skip the dinner, because if you say any shit like that to Chase or Bobby, or my brother Joshua we may have to peel them off you. Everyone in this fucking limo thought the bad guy had won that night thanks for the terrible reminder."
Over at Chase's private hanger, Jonathon waits for Gloria to get off the plane. When inside the confines of his Range Rover she looks around, as they exit the garage of the hanger. "Ok John, why is there a convoy of STOP team professionals following us?" He tells her of the attempt that was made on his life at LEGNA. "Oh my god, when did this happen? Have they caught her?" He answers a few weeks ago and no they had not. "I remember that day, you said everything was ok? Why did you lie to me?" He had no answer that would calm her, only that he didn't want her to be across the sea worrying about him. "So, did you not think I would notice people we have met at your daughter's home following you?" He says he didn't ask for them to follow him, but he was glad they were, since it seems someone or a few people are targeting their family on the road. "You think it's her?" John shakes his head and says one of the people have been identified as Joshua's father. "Why would Michael be targeting anyone?" John says not that father. "Did you ever tell him what you found when you looked him up?" John shakes his head and says he didn't think that would make things any better. "John, he deserves to know what you found." He says it's not a matter of deserving to know. He wanted to protect his son from another line of bullshit that would do nothing to help him. John says he was thinking of just offering the man money to just stay away. "Well then, it is settled I guess. Chase didn't even have to pay you to stay away now did he?" The look he threw her way, could have melted her where she sat. "All I'm saying, is that Joshua is a grown man and he deserves to know the truth. He could be good for him or are you jealous of a man you have never met because Joshua looks at you as a father figure?" They ride in a strained silence with John looking out the window. Thinking that she may have overstepped her bounds, she apologizes but tacks on what if for all this time the man had no clue he had a son.
"I'll tell Joshua, but just so you know. Until three days ago, I didn't say anything because I didn't have a name. At the start of this week, that changed, the man searched for help from meh." The look of smugness as she said just like he and Chase came to an agreement it could happen. "That man and I are not comparable. He does know. Alex Knight, knew when Joshua, was born, he just didn't feel like taking on a kid at his age, and was bummed when as he called him Boy was taken away. I asked him how he knew about the name change since thank heavens, Joshua looks nothing like the photos of Boy Smyth from when his case was first open. Alex told me, that he didn't want to complicate Brenda's already shaky marriage. Brenda kept him informed on the progress of the case. Here is a little tidbit that Alex told me, and I had to check for myself, for almost killing their son the Smyth couple spent 4 only months in jail, and then was free. Now that Joshua's original songs are making more than local money, and their 3rd album has hit the charts. He wants me to arrange a meeting. If he really wanted a reunion with his son do you really think in your heart that he would seek me out to accomplish it?" She says maybe Joshua's number isn't published." It is, that's how I found him before I even knew he was a friend of Angel's. It's on his business card for the pub they run Joshua sent the mixed tape for us to review and sent along his business card." Gloria says he should at the very least not make it harder for another father to get to know his son. "Gloria, I won't do it. From your earlier statement, you may not approve of how I handled things, but I did my fucking best. I will never deny it that, yes Chase helped keep the lines of communication open for me and my baby girl. If you can't see the difference maybe you don't know me as well as ya think." They arrive at home, John gets out of the car, and leaves her sitting in their garage, as he thundered up the steps, and into the house, slamming the door behind him.
That afternoon John Cena approaches Mark's home he is pleasantly surprised to be invited in. He knew he had showboated at the signing and wanted to make good on his promise if and only, if Mark was willing to play along. After he greets Mark and Mark grunts at him, and asks what he wanted as he turns to walk back into the living room. John asks "So where is your family? I hope they're not still thinking that photo shit was real." Mark says Paula isn't talking to him. His former friend looked bummed, He's seen that look before on Mark's face, when they were friends before Mark ended it by dumping his cousin Racheal then getting her into trouble with the law. John smiles to himself. As Mark says how those videos and the pictures were ruining his life personal and business. Served him right John thinks as he pulls a concerned face as Mark speaks. Hell, this was the most Taker had ever said to him even when they were friends. "Well Mark, I came here to say, I realize my mistake I tried to show off in front of the fans and that was wrong. I wanted to say look I talked Vince into giving you your spot back at mania. You and Randy will have a nice long match, and then you can throw it. Mark seems to lose some of the sadness and gets angry as he asked and if he didn't throw the match. "Look, if you don't agree to job to Randy, he's says he's going to make sure you regret it." Mark gets in his face and asked and how was Randy planning on doing that. John didn't backdown he stood ram rod still. "Mark, you know Randy isn't above breaking script to get what he wants." Mark asked did he think Randy fucked with his food the night at the arena. "I think I know where you're going with this, and no he didn't. Randy is a lot of things but a chemist ain't one of them."
Mark could hardly can contain his anger as he tilts his head to the side and asks. "Was it you John? I just want to know who is responsible for this shit."
John backs up Mark follows, John steps back again, but before Mark can step forward, John draws a 9mm Beretta and points it at Mark's chest as he says "This isn't a ring and we aren't on TV. I didn't come here for a fight. You make a move towards me, and they will be cleaning you up off the floor. Now Mark we have worked together for a long time. Sit down." Mark lifts an eye brow. John smirks and clicks off the safety. "Unless you are bulletproof, or want out of your second marriage the hard way, I said, sit down." John says in a conversational tone. Mark looks behind him and sits on the counter that borders his den. He tells John he has his full attention. Mark asked John what was his plan if he didn't come here to get his ass beat. "I heard you been asking questions to Ambrose and that he told you about that night. Well let me clear up the air Taker. I drugged you. I got Nikki to get the girl in your room. She enlisted help which you are going to pay for. If you don't, you'll find that your little jog into the middle of the busy street was child's play. Speaking of which, if you think about calling the cops after I leave, think on this: I know who robbed your wife's bar last year and I know he still needs money, I know where Bloke lives with her husband. I also know one of the people employed at Janet's school that owes me a huge favor. Now what's going to happen, is you are going to JOB to Randy at Mania, and just to keep you honest, starting tonight you will pay me 5,000 a night for protection of your little family and the lives of your talent agent and her husband."
Trying to keep his tone calm, Mark asks "John, what dose Randy have on you that would make you do this?" John's next statement floored him.
John smirks and says, "You think this" John waves his gun around, then back at Mark "is about Randy? This has nothing to do with Randy, and everything to do with what you did to my cousin Racheal. You knew it was a set up, you knew who did what, and you still made her turn herself in. A part of my family is behind bars because Mark Undertaker Callaway couldn't take a fucking joke." Mark says she hurt his little girl, that was no prank. "Did you just raise your voice at me? Get up, walk in there." Mark stares at him. John fires his gun and breaks one of the computer monitors inches from Mark. Mark gets up and walks towards Paula's desk in her home office. He tells John that Racheal hurt Janet, and could have killed her during her prank, and when she was beating on her while she had her. "That's all very unfortunate, maybe you should have taught Janet how to fight Undertaker. It could have been fixed if you had of just told Racheal that you wanted her back. She tested you on April Fool's Day two years ago, and you failed. You really thought she wanted to date me. I'm her cousin. She told the truth. But you weren't having any of that. I really wanted you to get wiped out in that street. We can't all get what we want. I'm going to get what I need. I bet against you to a bookie that thinks he has the writers in his fucking pocket. That is why I need you to job for Randy. "You lose and all is forgiven between us, and the best part is, I get 7 million, and you retire knowing that I'm the man." Mark goes back over the terms and says he doesn't keep 5 grand just lying around the house. "I thought you would say that. So, I took it upon myself to bring you a present." John pulls his phone and says into it. "Bring it in." Nikki Bella walks in with a laptop. "Set it in front of Mark and leave." Nikki says Yes John. "Good Girl" John watches as Nikki leaves, Mark gets up. John raise his gun at Mark's head and ask in that conversational tone. "Are you faster than a speeding bullet, I didn't so, sit down." Mark sits at Paula's desk. "John Cena is holding a sale on one night of protection 5 grand via wire transfer, tonight only. All other payments are to be paid in cash." John shows Mark the account information and says "If it's not in my account in the next 12 minutes I'll shoot you. If I am feeling sadistic, I may just shoot to wound. Then I may be so angry that I just end you, and drag your lifeless body into your bedroom, to be found by your wife, your child, or the help. The clock is ticking. This choice is yours." John's phone pings to alert him of something he looks at his phone and smiles. "Wise decision, good doing business with you, until tomorrow, see in you in the ring Mark." John backs out of the house jumps in his Purple Lamborghini and floors it, leaving the property.
Upon hearing the car speed off Mark yells a long string off obscenities and trashed the office. He knew John was coming that's why he stayed here to be easy to find but not near his family. Finding out that his family, and Stacy and her husband's lives were in danger was setting fire to a fuse that was already lit. After he cleans up and takes note of the damage he's done to Paula's office, he goes to his war room and pulls up the video. When he opened the door, he didn't think he would need this, but after having a fucking gun waved in his face by a nut in his own damn house, a dark thought crossed his mind, in the event John really shot him there would have been proof. Pulling up the video and running it alongside the live feed of what was happening presently in all areas of the house, he called Harold, when Harold started yelling at him asking him why he let John leave. Mark went off on him.
Harold went so quiet after listening to what Mark said. he had to reassure Mark he was still on the line. "Yeah. Look your system for outside was running, I need the plate number. If you have all of what you just said, I can move with what I have. I'll put a team on the Blokes, Mark asks about the person inside Janet's school. After completing the data transfer that Harold asked for, Mark looks at the clock and calls Sophie with Harold on the line. Sophie pulls up Janet's file and says that Janet had 36 hours of non-work time saved up since she attended a few academic competition field trips and says that it could be extended if need be. Mark thanks Sophie, she says for him to thank Janet for attending and winning most of the competitions. His girl was safe. That eased some of the total trepidation that was cursing through Mark's system. Harold got on the phone with Bobby and had him put a team on Paula and her bar. After getting off the phone with Bobby, Harold says to Mark. "Okay Mark now that protection is in place, I don't need to tell you not to let him or Randy back on the property. I'm putting a team on you. Since John Cena was dumb enough to come to your all to recordable house, and say, and threaten all this shit, I don't put it pass him to try to make a play at you again. He thinks he wants to see you for payment. Wait until my men are in position before you leave your dressing room. Please tell me you are traveling by car?" Mark says he hadn't planned on it since the show was local. "You're too open on that damn bike."
Though Mark wanted to use one of his stress relivers of riding his bike he chose to stay home. Heading to bed he set the alarms and laid down in their massive bed. Looking at the ceiling he couldn't sleep. He calls Paula "Hey there darlin, how is everything going at the bar tonight?" She quickly picked up on something in his tone that something was up. He tells her what was going on. "No honey, she is not to go to school and Harold has a team on you and the bar. No, Janet hasn't said anything more about the woman she drove around. Last I heard, she don't work there anymore." They finish their conversation on a lighter note and Mark goes to sleep since he had a flight in the morning.
Earlier that night Sophie, Angel, Joy, and Cassandra arrive home after dropping off Alice and Amy. Bobby, Luke, Rapture, along with Joshua greets them at the door of the garage of Ivey Mansion. Sophie asks what was going on since the incident had been fully reported and everyone knew that no one was harmed within minutes of the mall shut down. The guys say they just wanted to be here when the girls got back. Sophie says fair enough and asks Bobby had they caught the shooter. Bobby says no one had been reported to him yet. Angel asks what everyone had thought but had not said, as she wondered aloud who the person was after. Everyone was very vocal about their speculations that it was someone else from Joshua's bloodline. All except Joshua and Cassandra who said that the image of the rider even covered from head to toe, looked too small to be Patrick or James Smyth. Sophie asks could it have been Brenda. Joshua shrugged and excused himself. Candy entered the conversation and says the rider was too thin to be Brenda as she recounted pulling the rather large woman off Joshua at the hospital. After a few more speculations everyone disbursed into different parts of the house.
Angel walks into JC's room to find Joshua playing his guitar for their son who lay happily swinging his arms at the mobile above him on the play mat. As she watches him and JC interact she gets a phone call and slips back out of the room to take the call. It was Logan which was kind of a surprise. "Hello, yeah we are fine. No, they haven't found the biker or even the bike yet. Oh, sure I can watch him. A date huh, yeah, I agree that you should be careful it's best you go alone a few times before subjecting Glenny to anyone new. No, we don't start practice again until Thursday. Yeah, Josh is feeling much better. No, I think you should still go. You deserve to be happy Logan, just be careful, is all I'm saying."
After dropping off Glenny up at Angel's place, Logan calls his date. He'd spoken to the woman a lot in the past few weeks but really wanted to play it safe as he could, as to not end up in any of the situations that arose last year with people bringing new people into the fold. Though he trusted Tracy's judgement she herself had a few hurdles in the relationship area here lately. Frank wanted to take her son on a fishing trip, it would be the longest Frank and Tony would be in each other's presence without others around. and Tracy refused saying she didn't want Tony out on the water. Logan knew the real reason. He really couldn't throw any stones into that glass house, he was doing the same thing, keeping his child separate from his adult personal life until trust was reached. The what if Tango was playing strong in Logan's head, as he drove up to the apartment that housed his date. Dammit it, he was early and didn't want to appear too excited. He drives to the station to get gas and mints. He wished they steal sold the breath spray he liked.
Mia Farrah, a Pyramid resident that worked at the local Granville South Auto shop, had a date with the owner of Conner Construction. He was so shy when he finally asked her out. She thought it cute at first, he'd come in to get his work trucks serviced, and she would input all the repairs on screen and they would talk for the entire two hours it took to get everything done. The first time he came in when he leaned in to her to see the screen, she thought he was about to grab her ass or something and ruin the magic shining in her eyes with everything she saw in him, Mia knew she fell hard for guys and made sure not to repeat any of her own bad habits, but when she glanced down at his hands they were practically behind his back. She had her own secrets that she wanted to share but was afraid to. What owner of a business would really want to go with a girl like her that had changed jobs three times in the last 7 years. But according to the letter he left today with his number, the personal one, not the business one. Logan Conner liked her, and wanted to take her out for drinks. His country drawl, and that dark hair did it for her. Mia had done her homework, she checked out his name on a few sites, what good was being able to look up people for work as a hiring manager, if you couldn't use it for personal reasons, to keep yourself safe? Looking in the mirror of her top floor apartment she finished her hair. If she was going to do this, she had better do it right the first time. Most of the time when he saw her, her long curly hair was up in a bun. Looking at her contact case she wondered if she should wear her glasses since that was the side of her he saw and liked at work. She calls a friend after her shower, and applying her makeup. Le Anna was her best friend and little sister. "Hey, girl I'm going to send you a pic, tell me what you think, about the look not about the guy, I've heard all the crap." Le Anna gave her a thumbs-up emoticon, and still told Mia that she was venturing into dangerous territory. "Look, he is a contractor not a cop. I learned my lesson going down that road. Anyway, so hair up or down? Also, is this too much makeup? At work, I'm hardly wearing any. I don't want to come off as looking like a crazy diva by any means." Le Anna jokes with her asking was she really giving this dude this much over thought even before their first date. "I'm asking because, I'd like there to be a follow up date." Le Anna says for her to breathe and that she looked great. When she said her usual line about if he didn't like her his loss. That was easy for her baby sister to say, she had a thinner frame, with long bone straight hair, blue eyes, and she was a perfect 6 feet tall, that dated football players. Mia wasn't fat but she wasn't thin either and height was not on her side. "Stop right there, little sis, I don't want to find out if he doesn't like me." She suddenly hears a buzzing on her intercom. "OMG he's here." Le Anna's words were lost as Mia hangs up. Upon charging to the door to press the button, the sofa walked out into her path, and tripped her, or at least that was what she told herself, as she got up and finished her sprint to the front door. The buzzing stops seconds before she hits the button to let him in. That was something else she would have to get used to, he didn't just lay on the button, he pressed a few times and she just hoped she could catch him before he left the hallway. "Logan?" she winced at the sound of her own voice. Oh, damn her voice was so squeaky when she was like this. He answered and she let him in. Depending on how fast he walked she had two minutes tops to make sure her homestead was presentable. Turning around, she gasps at the thong on the back of her couch. So much for disrobing as she came in to hit the shower. Running over and grabbing the intimate apparel and shoving it in the back pocket of her jeans, she breathes a sigh just as a light knock is heard on the door. Not wanting to risk further injury by dashing to the door again, she walks to the door takes a deep breath, unlinks the chain and opens the door. "Oh damn, he is even sexier than when he is at work." Her inner freak screamed out in her head. "Down girl, don't scare him off." She berates herself. He was winning points all over the place tonight and had not did or said anything but yes it was only him, when she'd said his name over the intercom. He didn't just call and say he was here, expecting her to run outside in the middle of the night. He came in clean smelling clothes. Though his hands were still behind his back. She just stared at him. "Talk dumbass before your resting bitch face sets in, and he runs away."
Logan couldn't believe there was an even prettier Mia under her no-nonsense work attire. He walks in when she invites him in, and handed her the rose he'd made in his glass shop. Most of his regular customers knew why his glass handles and advanced moldings were pricy, the reason you didn't have to wait a long time depending on what kind of design, you selected was because most things Logan could make himself. As she looked at the handblown and stained pink crystal rose she looked like she was going to cry. Her next words made him wish he'd made more of them.
When he took his hand from behind his back, Mia was not expecting him to produce a gift. Mia held the little pink glass rose and whispers "Thank you, I've never even been given a flower before," she says on a hesitant chuckle, "thank you so very much, it's so beautiful." He froze at her words just stopped moving. "Um, that came out wrong, or something, sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Logan put his finger to her lips and says in a soft tone that she had nothing to be sorry for. Then he showed a part of him that she suspected was there, but from the looks of him, you wouldn't expect. He commented on his color choice and how he would have made her a white one but ran out of white stain, and he didn't want to make her a red one because bought red roses were a symbol of love and he wasn't trying to freak her out.
Logan knew he should shut up. Why the hell did this woman make him so talkative? He wasn't even this talkative with… Stopping that train of thought, he clears his throat, and apologizes for rambling. They soon head out. In the elevator, she asked him where he was taking her. "That depends on you, if you have already eaten since I really didn't clarify that I'd provide dinner along with those drinks, then I have a small club that I frequent where we can have a few drinks or I also know one of the best late-night eateries around town. She admits that she had not eaten but figured she would buy herself a snack for the drinks to have something to feast on besides her good sense. Her cheeky comments were back, he smiled down at her and says. "Well then, it's settled I'm feeding us so we both don't have a case of the munchies later. I don't think my son would be happy with me going home later and eating up his all corndogs." She stopped walking as she shoots him a surprised look, and asked him was he planning on doing drugs or something, because if so that wasn't her scene. Thinking about what he'd just said. he laughs, "Huh, oh no, I meant the fact that we both had not had dinner, and would be snacking all night. I don't know about you, but I know my appetite is usually not sated with pretzels in place of a meal." She seemed to relax a little, which made him quicker on his feet about saying things that could be taken the wrong way. When he gets on the highway towards Grandville South she says they didn't have to go anywhere swanky. He smirked and says. "I was thinking of taking us to Ivey Rotating Grill." She paled and said she couldn't afford anything like that. "Ok, let's get something straight, before we continue, I'm kind of old fashion, and well I intended on paying, I have no problem with the Woman's Movement, but since I asked you out, it's only fair that I intend on paying for this night." She says ok and admitted she had a fear of heights. "So, being 196 floors above ground might not work in my favor on getting you on another date, is what you're saying? Ok, there's a bar that serves food, and rock music, and it's only two levels high. Would that make you feel better?" She nodded as her cheeks flamed red. They head to The Davenport.
As they enter, Larry greets them and tells him that Josh is in the back. "Wow doesn't he ever go home?" The ex-marine just shrugged and took their orders. When they are seated at a table near the stage, Mia asked was Josh a friend of his. "Yeah, he owns this place." Mia looks around and says that it changed since she was last here. "That, I can believe. Our company renovated this place not too long ago." The band that was playing did a cover of one of Personal Touch's newest songs. Mia frowned and said she liked the original better than…. Her words died on her lips as she looked behind him. "What's wrong?" Logan looked behind him and saw Joshua walking towards the booth. Logan looked back at Mia, the smile she was trying to hide was obvious. "You want to meet him?" She nods and says yes that would be great but only if it wouldn't bug him. Logan gets to his feet and waves at Joshua, when Josh walks over he stopped and stared at Mia. "Joshua Davenport, this is Mia Farrah my date." Joshua says hey and asked did he know her. Logan says, "She lives in Pyramid."
Mia says. "I recently moved there like a year ago. Maybe you have seen me at a show or, I used to work for Phillip's Car Repair."
Joshua says "Um, I don't think I have seen you at any of our shows. Most of the time with the lights I can hardly see the first few rows." It then hit him where he'd seen her before. "I remember you now, well at least you clean up well." Logan gave him a look. Joshua drives his hand through his hair. "Ok that came out wrong. What I meant to say is the last time I saw her. She was covered from head to toe in grime from being under my wife's truck." Mia asked was it the huge black one on the LEGNA cover. "Yeah" Mia asked could she get a picture with him. "If it's ok with Logan, it's fine with me." Logan says sure. Mia gets to her feet and they all stand together with Logan in the middle, Josh has one of the passing waitresses take the pic. "Ok guys, I really need to get this sound dealt with for the next set. Have a great night."
After a nice meal and plenty of good conversation, Logan and Mia agree to go on another date. As he is driving her home. They talk about what brought them to the areas they live in now and how different the neighborhoods are from where they are from. Mia falls quiet when it is her turn to speak. His moving was transitional, he'd moved a total of three times including childhood. Where most of what he said was public record, that left her with revealing too much too soon. Where to start? When he glances in her direction with question in his gaze. She figured might as well tell him now. "I can't even count how many different living situations I have been in. I moved around Dallas with my parents about 8 times, I moved from Dallas when I was 19. I had a child while going through the police academy. My step-father offered to watch my son while I took an exam, and I like a fool let him, he said he lost my child in a grocery store. He claimed someone walked up said how cute my son was and when he turned around to speak to them, my son was gone. Mind you, I contacted the store. There was no footage of my son even being with my step-father on the day this happened. My stepfather more than likely left my son in the car alone at three weeks. He used to leave me and my little sister in the car all the time. My baby's father blamed me and made my life in the academy a living hell, to the point that I dropped out. When he started getting physically abusive to the point he put me in the hospital, I left him. I pressed charges and nothing was done. By this time Jerry, my ex, had gained rank. I moved to Grandville North because it was what I could afford outside of his judication, and he'd threaten to hurt my parents and my younger sister the next time he saw me running to them for help. Phillip in Grandville South saw that I could do more than change my tires, and he gave me a job. I worked there a few years. I moved in with Phillip and his wife in Glenview, it wasn't romantic, I was trying to stay off Jerry's radar. Last year, Jerry found me and got me fired and kicked out. I don't blame Phillip, business is business. I was driving a Camaro to make sure we had fixed the engine problem before we returned it to the owner. Jerry ran me off the road, I had no idea that he was now a state cop until he arrested me, if you can call it that. He claimed I resisted arrest and that I was on drugs. Phillip gave the names of a some really good lawyers which is why I'm not behind bars right now. Before you ask, I don't do drugs I was lethargic when Jerry took me in because I had a concussion from him yanking me out of the window and slamming me into his squad car." He asked a few more questions and then asked why she stayed in Texas since she now knows her ex is a state policeman. "I moved to Pyramid because once again I'm trying to save up enough money so that I can pay another private investigator to find my son. I can't give up on him like that."
Logan was pissed and he tried for a calm tone but must have failed because when he spoke again she jumped. "What's Jerry's last name? I have a few family members in the state department that can keep him away from you." When she said the man's real name, Logan felt sick to his stomach. Chief Jeromy Miller was Homer's boss and friend. Mia asked did he know Jerry. "I know of him." They ride in silence. When he pulls up to her apartment she reaches to grab the handle and he quickly gets out of the truck and runs to her side to open her door. He offers to walk her back up to her apartment. She seemed surprised. "I walked you out and I'd just like to make sure you get back in the confines of your home safely." He walks her to her door and she kisses him on the cheek, thanks him for a great date, then walks inside her apartment. As Logan gets back on the elevator the smirk would not leave his lips.
The next morning, Bradley checks in at the Glenview site and his men all ask is he okay and offer up "I got your back Foreman" statements. "Yup, now let's get these houses up, before Logan has all our asses in the unemployment line, shall we?" The group agrees, and heads off in their assigned locations. Bradley noticed something that had not been on site before, this site was now fenced off, considering they would not be working on any structure higher than 3 stories high it was not necessary, but if it gave his boss a sense of helping him out. Bradley knew when he wasn't going to win with Logan. Being able to wear his hardhat and shades on this job, was better than walking around looking like he lost a fight with Mike Tyson. Candy's application of the facial medical cream that Middlebrooks prescribed for him, was clearing up his face rapidly so in a few weeks he would be back to his former ugly self. Bradley needed this, without something to do with his time, as he waited on word on the rest of his life. Was he sacred of the court proceeding sure, but he had a good lawyer, and the truth, it was all he had, and he just hoped it was enough. Jazz called his phone on his break. Candy asked him if he thought Jazz had anything to do with what happened to him. Bradley tried not to think bad about Jazz she'd done nothing that even hinted at a motive to set him up. She wanted him to do her repairs to the store he couldn't do that from behind bars. The latter part of that statement made him shudder. Prison was way different than the rehab he'd been in until the court date that set him free. He answers the phone right before it hits voicemail. "This is Brad." Jazz was clearly upset about something. "No, I'm on site right now, but I can stop over after work is that ok?"
Hours later, after calling Candy and telling her that he was stopping over to Jazz's place, he sits in Jazz's living room. At least it didn't stink anymore. She'd needed help painting her house and writing down stuff that she was selling and things she would need for the store. When she asked about club stuff, he had to stop her. "No. I'm not kidding Jazz, my little brother and sister run The Davenport. They would be better at telling you what you would need to turn the store into an eatery, not me." Jazz asked him didn't he own part of it since it bared his last name. Bradley laughs "Hell no, I didn't even work at the place when it was my dad's." She says yeah, he just used to get stoned and fix shit while he was high. Bradley laughed it off, she had been throwing his past back in his face for an hour now. It was getting beyond tired. Anytime he would defend himself, she would sling more mud, or tell him he's being too sensitive. "Look, it's getting late I need to get going." She says it just 6pm and she then hit him with the saddest expression he'd ever seen on her face. She was lonely and he understood and felt like a real shitty person for attempting to leave her like this. She stops verbally slamming him for a while and he relaxed. They finish painting, compile a list of supplies, she pulls out a photo album, and they reminisce while waiting for the first coat to dry. This was the side of her that no one else saw. She orders food for them and even orders Candy a meal for him to take with him. After eating he felt like he was drunk, looking at the cup of Pepsi he was alarmed when it slid out of his hand. Jazz asked him was he ok. When he looked in her direction, he must have moved his head too fast because the room spun. "I don't know, I feel..." He could hear his words in his head but couldn't remember what he was about to say as he rode the wave. He suddenly felt warm all over, "oh shit" this was too familiar, he wasn't drunk. She spoke and his anxiety skyrocketed, she was too close he tries to speak but nothing comes out. She thinks I'd set her store on fire was the last thought he had before sleep swallowed him whole.
"SO, Brad the BAD, why did you set my aunt's store on fire, stealing from me, wasn't enough for you?" He opens his mouth but no words came out, as his facial expressions played over his face. Until his eyes flutter and close on their own. Getting up she takes his phone when it rings she hit ignore with a smile on her face. "Not tonight Candy, he's a lot trashed right now. Just when I thought I didn't give him enough." She then calls her new boyfriend Benjamin Valentin. She knew Ben would love her even more if she could deliver his high school punching bag. After getting off the phone with Ben she kind of felt that she had went too far, but it was too late to turn back now. At first, she didn't believe Brad set her aunt's store on fire but as Ben pointed out, Brad did steal her money card when they went together in CO to support his filthy drug habit, before he went ape shit on his old man, and got busted. He'd apologized to her only because it was a part of his rehab, Ben had told her how it works, and she accepted the apology and money Brad sent her. Ben loved her, and was going to divorce his wife for her. Bradley is who she wanted, but he wanted some rich Granville South bitch now. "We'll see if she still wants you, after I'm done with you no one will want you. You stole from the wrong starving artist." She says as she slaps his sweaty, unconscious, face. She wasn't starving anymore. "Oh my god, you had such a stupid nickname back then." She giggles at his initials and then says, "I get it now, Bradley A. Davenport, B.A.D, you were so lame."
Benjamin Valentin hated that he had a new partner but at lease the guy was just as dirty as him. Detective Kevin Kincaid was a very quiet man. That made Ben nervous the Lieutenant Deceive Homer Kincaid his old partner, was a straight shooter, Ben wondered how someone's son could fall so far from the good cop tree. After getting Jazz's text message, a plan formed in Ben's head. If Kevin Kincaid wanted into the dirty State Cop Clan, what better way to prove himself? If he tried to stop Ben, that would prove his suspicion that it was all a hoax and that Kevin was a plant. If that was so, his family better gets his dress blues ready. Ben had read the guy's sheet, and some things just didn't click. "Hey, Kevin I looked up your name, man, you must be one spoiled son of a bitch to still have a job with the state P.D." They were on a stake out and Lt. Homer Kincaid had put them together to clean up each other's act.
Kevin knew what was expected of him in the role, and delivered his lineage to back his fucked up storied past. "Why because my father is our boss?" Kevin smirks and continues his list of dirty work. Ben asked him why he stopped him then when he was arresting the Davenport kid he got put on probation for. Kevin knew the Davenport case was going to come up. "What was I supposed to do let some other cop see me helping you? I'm loyal to dead important white men on green paper, if you catch my drift." Kevin dose a move he saw on a movie as he does the sign for "Make It Rain" (It means to throw money into the air and let it fall in a motion that mimics the rain) "No one was paying me to beat up anyone."
Ben smirks "Loyal to cash, good to know. I got a side job for you. That is if you don't mind a couple hundred grand in your hand." Kevin asked when "You'll find out oh but let me make myself very clear, you try to bust me again, and I put a bullet where your vest don't hide you, are we clear?" Kevin says in a calm even tone if Ben threatens him again he'd blow his fucking head off, and would get away with it, since he is the son of the L.t. Detective. The intensity and the fact that the guy didn't even lose any color took Ben by surprise. "I'll ask you before I stop the car are you in or out? This isn't the heavy job but it pays $2,000. It's a trial run before I hook you up with my other boss if you catch my drift."
"A test, well let me see the money, then 'I'll give you my answer." As they stop at a red light, Ben quickly reached for his waist, Kevin pulled his weapon, and told him. "Slow that shit down, unless you want a new hole in your head." Ben slowly pulled his wallet and pulled out a stack of money, counted off two grand and hands it to Kevin. Kevin pockets the cash and says "Okay, I'm in what do you want done?" When Benjamin finished speaking Kevin got an idea. He now knew more of the puzzle about the case his dad wanted him to close concerning one Bradley A. Davenport. So, the Jazz woman they were going to meet up with was who Benjamin got to set up Logan's employee. Finding out it was also Ben that ordered the attack from other cops made Kevin feel like shit for thinking that Logan was just blindly defending his friend's innocence. Kevin watched the interview with Davenport, and his answers never changed. Kevin had thought it was just well practiced by a seasoned criminal. Kevin read Brad the BAD's file, and a few of the charges if it wasn't for his dad catching him Kevin knows he could have been the one strung out. He remembered his first year as an undercover detective, and cringes at what could have happened when he got hooked on Opium while trying to prove he was a big-time user trying to get next to bigger dealer. Homer covered his ass and sent him to rehab. He wondered was that why Logan had said that Bradley could be any of them. Did his Squeaky-clean cousin know about his past?
Over in Grandville South, Sophie walks into a bistro at the bottom of the LEGNA building. After reading the book from cover to cover with Luke, Sophie had lots to say to Sebastien. She'd sent Luke a text when the meeting was set up. Digesting the 485-page biography was a roller-coaster ride. Considering 5 of those pages was a letter to her, just gave her a headache. Yes, Sebastien was a former lover, yes, she had feelings for him, but after reevaluating what was really going on. He was a rebound from one of her first of many breaks ups with Julius. She was in college, abroad in Paris, France for a photo shoot, and to start the ground work for one of her clothing magazines, and along the way, she fell hard for Sebastien. Though his words were beautifully put to paper, and painted a picture, there was always another side to the fantasy. The truth was, yes most of the photos depicted what their life was like, for a time. It neglected to tell truthfully what broke them up. Luke asked just that, among other questions, and Sophie told him. Sophie remembers the day her world got turned on its ear. Sebastien Chabal walked into their flat and confessed to her that on one of his last tours, he had impregnated a female and was going to marry her. Luke pointed out something that Sophie had not realized or had not ever admitted to herself or her therapist. Her engagement to Julius when she returned to the states, had more to do with wanting to get married, and shut up her mother for the litany of verbal shots that her mother liked to rain down on her. Sophie guessed though she thought she had repelled all of Sophia's words like a good rain coat, she guessed if she was honest with herself some of her mother's relationship paranoia seeped in. It felt good to shut up her mother until Julius stopped the progression of their engagement like hitting a brick wall. Sophie was glad she broke the promises she made to herself after the engagement went south about never seriously dating locally again. Her therapist had told her that her many promises were an emotional survival tactic that people that have been hurt like she had, set for themselves. She honestly believed that the reason it did not work out with Julius, or even Sebastien, was because she was supposed to be where she is now, with Luke. As if on cue, Luke walks into the bistro. Sophie raises her glass to let him know she had already arrived. He was wearing what he considered casual. He comes over and sits with her. If he sat any closer she would be sitting in his lap. They talk for a time as they wait for Sebastien to arrive.
Up several floors, Personal Touch rehearses after their set is recorded and played back. They do it one more time. Joshua felt great no pain, not even a twinge. As Personal Touch stops the song and starts shutting down for the night, Gloria walks into the studio when the recording light goes off. Jonathon had been very adamant about finally admitting that he still had not told Joshua of his birth father Alex Knight's existence. John had told her to drop the topic. She had just stopped talking to him about it. She'd met Alex and she did not get the negative vibe from him that apparently her mate had. Jonathon would thank her later. "Joshua, a word please?"
Down stairs at the LEGNA bistro Sebastien Chabal walks in with his hair blown out creating a halo like affect around his head. Sophie had once said she liked the look on him. Now that he was off due to injury, he had lots of time to think about her and where they could be by now. If he had not fallen for his ex-wife Margorie's lies. He'd believed that he had given her a child. His one and only son. To find out during a fight that Kent was not his, was a painful emotional blow. He'd wrecked his life over a lie. How Margorie could lie to him for 5 years. Thinking of what lead to his breaking it off with Sophie and the look on her face as he told her of his side trip while on tour. He'd lied to Sophie, he told her that his accidental cheating had led to an accidental baby, and that he would not let the woman that carried his seed suffer the hardship of caring for his child alone. The truth was yes, Margorie was pregnant and yes, he married her. He didn't have the courage to tell Sophie that the marriage wasn't his idea. With Margorie lust and the thrill of being worshiped turned into self-loathing and a feeling of obligation. When Sophie asked him how could he cheat on her like they meant nothing, and was he even sure that the child was his before he ran off and married the first female to wave a pregnancy test in his face. He had been cruel and accused her of being jealous. Which was insane, she had not been saying it out of jealousy, even after him telling her in detail of his infidelity, Sophie remained eerily calm as she spoke and packed her things. He should have listened. Sophie walked out of his life in Paris with a very pronounced strut. When Ivey Trends by Sophie Ivey hit the shelves and she returned to her homeland, though he was a newly married man with a child, he still wanted Sophie. He bought every copy she released in France. Margorie had been his biggest fan. When Sophie spoke to him with no fan worship in her tone it made him feel so much more than a branded rugby player. Getting Sophie and some male by the name of Julius's wedding invite two years ago, drove him to make a rash decision to ask Margorie for another child. Margorie was furious at him when she found his mountains of pictures of Sophie and his relationship, and screamed that he was not Kent's father. He demanded and received proof that Kent was in fact not of his blood. He got angry at her but she threw cold water on his anger with a question. She asked how he could be so mad at her when all he did was turn his mistress into his wife. While he sat at the doctors' offices on his road to recovery he began writing the book when his agent told him the publisher would be Ivey Print Network the pages came easier. He'd heard about the massive breakup and how her wedding had basically sent his Sophie into hiding for a year. Sophie two years ago had a huge wedding planned and reported to all the major networks then she canceled it, and disappeared for a year, just went ghost as she used to say. Last year she came back better than ever as an owner of the same companies she worked for with her father. When he reaches the table Sophie is seated at, he sizes up her newest mate before extending his hand in greeting. Sebastien looks Sophie over before he speaks. "I see you have not changed from the lovely sight you have always been to me." She reminds him of why she is here as she holds out the copy of his book." When she put out her hand to shake his, he noticed the ring on her finger, so the tabloids were correct. He lifted her hand and gently caresses it a moment longer than necessary with his lips. The fellow that stood to her side clears his throat, Sophie pulled her hand from his loose grasps and introduced her mate by title and name. "Hello doctor Sheldon I am the rugby player Sebastien Chabal." Standing the male, was not what he would have imagined Sophie's type to be. He was a local Sebastien had done his research and it seemed odd that a man that was rumored to be a lone wolf would set his sights on someone as far out of his league as Sophie E. Ivey. The man looked like a Ken doll. In his native tongue of French, Sebastien speaks to Sophie who glares at him. "I see, you have found someone to play dress up with. Was it hard dressing him?"
Luke eyes the rather roguish looking man with a smirk that held no humor. Adina and Gregory had prepared him well for this meeting without even knowing it. Between Adina's visit and their stay at Adina and Gregory's home French was so fluently used that he took an interest. Though he would not embarrass himself with trying to speak the language, he wanted the rugby player to know he that he understood what was said. "I would imagine that is some type of crack at my clothing choice. I'm fully capable of dressing myself thanks for your concern. Now shall we sit, or are we to continue standing here drawing undo attention to ourselves?"
As they sit with the couple sitting across from him Sebastien says. "Well since it seems we are here for business more than pleasure. You agreed to meet with me about my book?"
"Yes, I have a few reservations about you moving forward with it as is. As you know my company is publishing it. Sebastien, you really should rethink publishing that book that could potentially destroy your son's life." Sebastien sits back in his seat and asks did this have anything to do with them. Sophie smirks and says, "There is no us, there was once, but there is no more Sophie and Sebastian." Sebastien goes on and on about how he is just putting the truth out there for the world to see. "You don't even believe that." Sebastien asked her what is her problem. "My problem is that you want to publish a book that will put the same negative self-image and look on your son's face as it did to a few people I know. Look If you want to wait 18 years and then tell him hey by the way I'm not your dad, that's on you it also looks cheap in print. Your first 30 chapters is nothing special. Your story telling skills need a lot of work. In chapters 19-30 you name-dropped so many names that I thought you were Kevin Hart on a late-night show promoting a movie. My editors are not going to let half of what you wrote slide and you can write all the fantasy you want but when you try to market it as nonfiction and you have as much inconclusive information as you have I will not put my name behind that." Sebastien accuses her being jealous. He then asked could he speak to her alone. "Jealous of what?" He says well something is preventing her from moving forward and he just wants to make sure if this is just business it remains so and does not become blurry. "What we had, was good while it lasted. We both moved on. Your using your child or the fact that he is not yours by blood as a sword to swing at your ex-wife and as a cheap draw to sell the book is the wrong approach." He says but his leaked chapters are already getting plenty of views. "It's free smut, and if I find out you are the leak you'll have to find another company I won't blackball you but I will not go down with that sinking ship." Sebastien gets to his feet and says he always adored her more when she was bossy.
Luke rises to his feet and gets in real close as to not be overheard. "Sebastien this conversation is over. Walk away."
Sebastien leans back and looks around Luke at Sophie. He then looks back at Luke. He says "Make me doctor. Or just move out of my way." as he puts his hand in the middle of Luke's chest. He instantly found that to be a fool's move as the doctor grabbed his hand and twisted it behind his back telling him if he touched him again he'd break the offending appendage. The torque on his wrist was painful but he fought the edge to wince. Sophie tells Luke his Texas is showing. The doctor let him go with a shove. Before the shock wears off they were gone.
Luke turns to Sophie and says, "We came, we met, it's time to go." Sophie says ok, Luke makes sure to pull Sophie securely into his side as they exit the bistro.
Over in Glenview at Jazz's home Bradley starts to come awake. He must have not done any shit lately since he was just waking up. She'd only given him 5 Xanax and a weed edible. Hell, he used to put them away like candy back in the day. The latter part of her thought gave her another idea. Pointing his phone's camera at him she says. "See Candy, a tiger can't change his stripes, I'm doing you a favor girl. He stole money from me I'm sure you have a lot more than I do. I'm just looking out for a fellow woman." She ends the video and hits send.
Hot shame and anger at himself floods him, as he says, "You… forgave…. me. Why?" He asks as he wrapped his arms around his middle. The room was spinning and he felt like shit.
"Well Brad the Bad, I lied, see it doesn't feel too hot when someone dose it to you, do it?" Bradley tries to get up off her sofa. He was clearly having a hard time. "You might want to stay seated." He was sweating out his clothing, and her damn couch. He just kept asking her why. "Why not you stole from me. I am stealing from you. Only unlike you I'll get away with it." She walks over towards him and pushed him backwards as he tried to get up again. A knock sounds on her door. "We have company finally; all this will be settled." Jazz walks out into her atrium to let in Ben. There was a guy with him. Ben walks in before she can even invite him in. He told her good work. "Yeah thanks, come on in, love you too." A question started to form in her head. "Hey, you said he was still using, and that's why he fucked up my aunt's store. I don't know, he crashed hard from the small amount of shit I gave him." Where only a year ago Bradley would have been up fixing shit around her house or at least talking shit or being goofy, seeing him hardly able to string words together gave her pause. Ben got mad at her, and told her if she didn't give Brad all the shit he gave her where was the rest of it? The other guy was quiet. "Hey is he ok?" The guy says since Ben's money isn't funny he didn't care what she did. Ben asked where the unused shit is. She hands him the other packets. "Ben can we talk alone, maybe I fucked up." Ben starts towards her living room. "Hey, I still have questions." Ben turns around and grabs her by the shirt pulling her to him, and says trust him. "I do but somethings just don't add up." He accused her of calling him a liar. "No, it's not like that." Ben reminds her that Brad stole from her and then accused her of falling for his bullshit. She'd spent hours in Bradley's presence and before she doped him up, he was old Brad before he started using drugs at the end of high school, talkative, and funny, and fixing her problems. She was kind of hoping he would talk to her while stoned, but he was out of it. She realized while she was calling him and reeling him for this set up, that she wasn't over Bradley. She wanted Candy's Bradley, the one that wasn't high 24 hours day, the one that pridefully held down a job. "So, since we know it wasn't me who really saw him burn down my aunt's store did you guys find any real evidence?" Ben then flipped out on her and pinned her to the wall by the throat. When he said Bradley is the real perp, and for her to repeat it she did. He lets her go and storms into her living room. He promised that he would not bring his childish dislike into this set up. But from the way he just body slammed her ass, she once again had second thoughts on doing this. She also once again realized it was too late to show doubt now. If she was completely honest with herself she no longer thought Bradley had anything to do with it. The only reason she went along as far as she did was because she wanted what she could not have. Ben's partner asked her was she ok. Wincing where she hit the wall she says "Yeah, it's just I went into this for the wrong reasons. He said he was over the high school rivalry he had and that this was business. What if Brad is what he has been saying to me since I contacted him?" The guy asks her if they let this Bradley fish off the hook who was going down for the murder of her aunt since they had to wrap this case. "You think the person who burned down my aunt's store had something to do with her accident? Even when Bradley was using heavy he wasn't violent to the point of killing anyone." The guy reminded her that Bradley beat up his own father. "Yeah, and from what I gathered from talking to Bradley sober. I think that was his breaking point."
Kevin had to stop talking to this woman, though he wanted enough to pin them both, he couldn't risk her getting suspicious of why a dirty cop would talk to her with his partner out of the room. "Well, what's done is done. The boating accident was ruled as a homicide I'm surprised Ben didn't tell you." Kevin walked away from the hurt and shocked expression that landed on the woman's face. She was a tool. That was clear. As he enters the living room he hoped his camera picked up the sight before him. He had enough micro audio-visual equipment on his person to stock a fucking electronics department. What he saw made him want to stop this now. He was wondering when the boys out in the Hummer parked a block over would stop this shit.
Moments earlier before Jazz and Kevin entered the room, Ben walked into the living room and is met with the sight of his high school punchbag also known as Brad the B.A.D trying to get to his feet. "Stop and put your hands up." He watched as Bradley put his hands up over his head and slumped back down on the sofa. "Good, get on the ground." Davenport was so tanked right now he was very slow in his movement. When he looked up and recognition dawned on him on who was talking, he asked why. Ben helped Bradley to the ground, via walking over, grabbing him by the front of his shirt and dragging him to the floor. Bradley landed in a heap with his hands in front of his face to prevent a total face plant. "Let me see your hands I know you like to carry." Ben knew that Jazz had taken his gun if he wore it in here, she wasn't stupid. Bradley slurs that he's out on bond not allowed to carry heat. "That's never stopped you before Brad the B.A.D"
For some reason as he lay on Jazz's floor Bradley wanted to know why Ben hated him so much. "Why don't you like me?" he knew he was talking slowly but couldn't help that. "I did not do anything to you. You know that nickname came from when I played basketball in middle school because Davenport was already taken by a kid in a higher grade than us." Ben told him he didn't like the fact that a rich kid moved into his subdivision here in Glenview. "We weren't rich man. My dad spent over 18 hours a day at his bar. My mother worked until the school system forced her into retirement." Ben says he tried to fuck Cassandra's fat ass and she turned him down. "That my little sister you're bashing man." Ben asked him and what was he going to do about it. Bradley starts laughing, it just came out of nowhere. "You have a gun pointed at my head, I'm not doing shit. Cass was not even in our grade. If you didn't like how she looked why were you trying to fuck an underclassman, woman, girl, whatever? Is that why you beat the shit out of me my whole last years of high school all because my baby sister who was a middle schooler at the time didn't want to fuck a senior? That can't be what this has all been about. Dude, you married the prom queen. You won in life a long time ago. If anybody should be jealous, it should be me, you live in Grandville South along with some of the richest people in Texas and you are seriously mad at me for what trying not be a complete fuck up for the rest of my life?" Ben talks about how he lives in Gardnerville South in the largest estate in the fucking state. "Nope, that's where you are wrong, I don't live there." Ben says he's watched Bradley walk into that house without even stopping at security, so don't pretend that he's not rich now. "Dude that's my brother and sister's house." Ben asks wasn't that the same little brother he used to brag about beating up back in the day. "I only have one brother. You've met him and beat on him. So, is it that you just don't like Davenports, or do you have a problem with any people you think have more than you?" Ben puts his gun on the table behind him and tells Bradley to get up, they are going to settle this once and for all. Bradley yawns and sleepily says "What so you can try to beat my ass? I know your type. The minute I take a swing, or try to defend myself, you'll shoot my ass. No thanks, I'll stay right here." Bradley was getting sleepy again. The carpeted floor was cool on his overheated skin. Ben said fine, and left Bradley's field of vision. Bradley lifted his head to look for the cop and was sucker punched in the side of the head. That rung his bell. He was going to pass out didn't want to with this nut standing over him but he knew the signs. Someone else came into the room. Hope surged through the foggy brain he was experiencing, as he recognized Logan's cousin Keyon, Kevin that was it, Kevin. This guy was a good cop. "Help me…"
Ben was livid this rich prick thought he knew everything, Ben would teach him. As Kevin and Jazz enter the room Ben grabs his gun and hits Bradley hard enough this time to knock him out. Brad the B.A.D, had asked his partner for help. "Let's get him out of here." Bradley's phone starts ringing. Ben grabs it off the coffee table where Jazz had left it, and answers it. "Yeah," it was a woman. She sounded batshit crazy demanding to talk to Bradley. "Shut Up bitch, next time you see him he'll be wearing orange." He then hits end and tosses the phone to Jazz. "Keep it, trash it, I don't care he won't need it where he's going." Noticing Kevin's lack of movement from where he stood upon entering the room he raises an eyes brow and says. 'Get over, here and help me get this dumb ass in the car." Kincaid picked now to tell him he out ranked him so if that was a question he should reword it quickly. "Look you know what I meant, if that bitch knows where her boyfriend is, we got to get lost like yesterday." Kevin finally stops pretending he is a statue and helps Ben pick up the heavy son of bitch. They manage to get Bradley into the back of their ride and drive off.
Inside her home, Jazz watches the two cops take Bradley away in their car. She'd thought that at worse Ben would slap him around mess with him for bit like she did, but the way Ben hit him with no hold back in his stance just leveled another person like he meant nothing to no one. Bradley's phone rung. Jazz looks at Candy's picture dance across his screen. But it didn't say Candy her name in his phone is babe. "Babe" She repeats it she looked for her number she just wanted to know what Bradley called her. She waited until the phone stopped ringing, she could have hit the x but why? She had no idea what was going to happen. Ben didn't arrest Bradley, he knocked him out and just took him. After the phone stopped ringing and probably dumped Candy into the voice mail void. Jazz looked for her name. It would make her feel a little better if he gave her a really mean name like the ex bitch. When she found her picture, reading what he'd assigned her as a name was even worse than what she thought, tears stung her eyes, she didn't deserve it. In Bradley's world, she was Fav Artist. All the ill things that Ben had told her about how Bradley never really liked her, and how his whole not knowing that her aunt's place burned to the ground, how he was a good actor when he saw it. Bradley was a lot of things, but an actor wasn't one of them. Candy called again. "Hello, Candy this is Jazz you don't know me but…." Candy was clearly upset. "Look, I fucked up. He's not here damnit. Listen to me. I set him up." Candy started screaming again. Jazz put the phone away from her ear. When Candy went quiet and asked was she still there. Jazz told her what she meant by she fucked up, all of it. The plan, the execution of the plan, step by step. Candy is crying and asks her if Jazz was his friend why she would do something like this. Jazz tried the he stole from me thing and it died on her lips. When Candy shot it down so thoroughly all she could say was "You're right. I wanted him, couldn't have him like he is now with you, I got the drug addict, it's not fair."
Candy was wrenched away from the phone, as Joshua who had been about to leave the studio after getting some shocking news from Gloria heard Candy screaming at someone and came in to ask what was wrong. After getting a total information overload in ten seconds flat, he got on the phone with his brother's ex. "Bitch life isn't fair. He attempted to steal from you but who was giving him the drugs in the first place?" She didn't know that Bradley had told him the truth behind that night. "You got pissed off at him that night and cut him off. He waited until you went to the bathroom and stole a plastic card that you got turned off the minute you figured out, it was gone with him. Did he beat your fucking ass, no he roughed up my mother, and put my father in the fucking hospital fighting for his life all because you two got into a fight and you told him no more drugs. Yeah, he tried to make a purchase using what was your money, you stopped him. Why all the bullshit?" She said one more thing about how she deserved the new Bradley. "You deserve to be surrounded by a coffin. You never had to speak to him ever again. He was doing just fine without you, once again. You gloomy loves company stupid bitch." She screams it was Joshua's fought that Bradley did drugs. "Wrong Bradley was doing drugs way before I even moved in. Okay STOP this isn't doing anything but pissing me off more, now who took him, and where, and don't say you don't know." When she told him who had his brother, a chill ran down his spine. and her parts of a plan that could possibly end in Bradley being killed, threw Joshua into action. Joshua hung up and told Candy they were heading back to the house, and he was telling Chase what was going on. Candy asked what would that do. She said they needed to go to Glenview that's where Bradley was last. He hated to see his friend upset but his anger overrode his mouth. "Candy, don't you get it. This isn't some street gang that has my brother's life in their hands, this is the fucking state cops. One State cop, that has proved to me that, he didn't give a shit about his badge. Ben is a loose cannon on a nuclear level, and he has Bradley." As they get in the truck with the STOP team behind them. He was glad Angel left right after rehearsal. She already called him, telling him she'd made it home. With the news he got from Gloria, on the back burner of his mind, and now this, he was a little nuclear himself right now. Candy sobbingly asked could they at least go to Glenview and see if they could find him on their own. What if the Jazz chick was lying. "Of course, I'd love for her to be lying. But listen to what you want us to do. You want to go driving through my old hood at night, knowing that we have three strikes against success right off the bat. One, he may be with at least two dirty cops. Two, my fucking bloodline and James Smyth, are still in that area and would love if I just drove my overly noticeable truck into the old hood. Three I tried running headlong into a situation to save someone and, if it weren't for Bobby's tactical planning it would have got me killed. if he we get killed game over, that won't help Bradley. That won't help anyone." Candy picks up on the James Smyth thing. "Later, much later" they get to the house and Candy runs into her chosen bedroom. Joshua hits the stairs two at a time, and goes into his music room. He'd managed to control his tone while talking to his best friend. Here in the solitude of his quiet space the fear and anger of the past hour of his day poured from his, fingers as he played the most shredded song in his skill set. Candy had shown him the video, Bradley was in bad shape where ever he was. Joshua just prayed that Chase's team could save him. Angel walked in and says she just spoke to Candy and then asked was he going to be ok. He put down the guitar when she approached him he hugged her hard, she hugged him back just as tightly. With his face buried in her shirt he broke down crying repeating over and over. "I can't lose him, not like this."
Kevin insisted on driving telling Ben he was not in the right head space from what he'd just witnessed. Pulling rank in a situation like this, was dangerous, but Kevin didn't want the impulsive nut job driving them off the road. Where was the flashing lights? Had his signal fried or something? What was taking the guys so long? Hell, they would be in Grandville South soon. They'd been driving for 30 plus minutes. Looking in the rearview mirror Kevin sees Bradley open one swollen eye. Nice to know their charge was still alive. Kevin didn't want Davenport to start speaking, so he starts talking to Ben. "So, since I take it we aren't arresting him, what are we doing?" Ben told him to turn left at the next street. They were getting closer to the higher dollar homes. They hit a dirt road, and drive on to a ramp that leads through a spiraling three story abandon garage in Grandville South "What the fuck is this place?" Kevin was on high alert, if this went south, Ben could kill him and Davenport, and no one would be the wiser until their bodies were found since apparently his team, hadn't seen, or heard shit. Suddenly the headlights hit a person Kevin slams on the brakes. The screeching tires echo off the run-down graffiti filled walls. "What hell is…" Ben jumps out of the car and opens the back door. He starts yelling at the man that Kevin had almost creamed with the car. The guy ran off. Ben grabs Davenport and slings him out of the car, and starts kicking the shit out of him. Kevin put the car in park and gets out when Ben pulled his gun and points at Davenport screaming at him to get up and walk towards the edge of this floor. Ben yells for him to stay back. Kevin gets an idea. "Ben, you paid me for a job, right? So far, all I've done is drive you around, you could have got a cab for that shit." Ben says he going to make Davenport jump then they are done for the night. Kevin starts to speak but Davenport beat him to the punch.
Bradley looked at the man speaking, then back to Ben. "With my hands cuffed like this, no one will believe… I jumped on my own." Ben tells Kevin to pick him up. Kevin tells Bradley if he tries anything he'd toss him over the wall. "I thought you were." Kevin grabs him by the hair and tells him to shut his fucking mouth before he shuts it for him. Ben gets a call and walks away from them. Bradley is even more confused when Kevin loosens the grip on his hair, and quietly asked him could he stand.
Off in the corner, Ben speaks to one of his mob family contacts that Informs him of a federal level search for him and Davenport. "What about my partner?" The person says that the witness did not know the other abductor's name, just that he was with another guy that had dark hair. "That fucking bitch ratted me out to the feds?" His aunt called him he puts his informant on hold and answers. Henriette was furious as she demanded he let the new guy do the job and get his ass back to the hideout pronto. She said if the new guy he was vetting to be a part of the family didn't do this job they would end him. "I'll let him know." Ben hated to do this but he had bigger spaces to fill within the family, and he couldn't be the new Don if he was taken down by the fucking feds. He was setting a lot of shit into motion his aunt was going down, he'd talked her into believing that his botched attempt to get her caught at LEGNA was just a smokescreen for her to get away. Bradley Davenport was right in his assumption that this was bigger than their high school bullshit. If the Deon punk thought he was going to fuck his way into the Don position he had another thing coming. He was Henriette's new puppy just like her husband was. Ben was the next Don no matter who or what Henriette fucked. Ben walks back over to his partner and says "Get him on his feet." Kevin muscles Bradley into a standing position. "Hey, Brad the B.A.D you asked why I did this. The name Deon ring any bells." He then rears back and punches Bradley in the face, Brad crumples to the ground like a broken doll out cold. Ben meets Kevin's eyes and says, "If you don't take him out my boss will order a hit out on you." Ben turns and starts walking towards the car. Suddenly a shot rang out and Ben is shot in the back. Kevin turns around and comes face to face, with the business end of a Desert Eagle, putting his hands up so the older man can see them he says, "I'm a cop."
Harold points his weapon at Kevin Kincaid that had just been ordered to kill their charge. "So is he. I'm going to tell you the best way for you to live through the night is to do exactly what I say. If you move, my team will blow you away. I'm going to pat you down. My team is then going to take you to my car." Harold uses his other hand to wave a few of his men to get Benjamin Valentin off the ground and in to cuffs in the back of a sedan, his team had hit Ben with a tranquilizer, because he was of no use to them dead.
Davenport was not responding, Harold clears the med crew to come on to his scene and take Davenport to the Sheldon Medical Center Upper Grandville South Campus. One of the techs asks if he meant Grandville South Memorial. As the kid shows him an outdated manifest on an iPad. Harold was in no mood to be nice. "That building was reopened under the Sheldon Network almost a year ago you must be new, or a damn idiot which is it?" The med crew member admits that he just transferred here to Grandville. "Welcome to Grandville South, do what I say and your transition will go a lot smoother." The crew puts Bradley into the ambulance and leaves. Harold calls Bobby to check on Mark's situation. Bobby informs him that John Cena was in custody but Randy Orton nor his wife showed tonight. "Okay keep a team on Mark and get back to me. Oh, and Hawk, call Ivey and tell him we found Bradley A. Davenport. Yeah, I sent him to Sheldon Medical Center Upper Grandville South campus it's the closest to this scene. I know this was your case but from what I saw tonight you would not have got back to this area in time. I'll send you note of progress and you do the same." Bobby says will do they close the call and Harold walks over to where his team had put Kevin in the back of his vehicle. After Interviewing Kevin, reviewing the audio, visual, and physical, evidence on scene, he calls the hospital and tells them what is allegedly in Bradley Davenport's system.
Over at an arena in Dallas, Mark is waiting on the STOP team to clear the area so that he could leave for the night. He'd played his part and paid John Cena. Watching the STOP team bust Cena, felt like progress. The fact that Randy had went missing tonight, was why Mark had to stay under Harold's Dallas STOP team's surveillance. It was almost his birthday, and he was given it and the following day off. He'd been asked by his wife to come up to Ivey Mansion. "As soon as the team clears the way, I'll be on my way darlin."
Inside the Sheldon Medical Center Upper Grandville South Campus ER, before they can transfer Bradley from the ambulance cot he starts having a seizure. The lead ER doctor orders the med crew to roll him on his side, as she sticks him with med to stop it. She shouts orders at her crew trying to keep him on the bed. If this went on any longer his brain would overheat. The violent movement subsides, as she is about to have him transferred to a proper bed his pulse drops and he stops breathing. She gets a message delivered to her telling her what drugs her patient had in his system. That along with the blunt trauma to his head, cleared up in her mind why he'd went into a seizer, and why their med had not worked properly. She orders an intubation, she hadn't lost a patient since her retraining under the Sheldon Medical brand, and she didn't want to start now with some drug addict. She manually squeezes oxygen into his lungs from the bag attached to the tube she's had run down his throat, as her team continues to work on him. The doctor, never in her life, thought she would be so glad to have the owner of this network briskly walk into her ER.
20 minutes before Luke arrived at his newest center, the former site of Grandville Memorial South, he was having a meeting via web conference from his home when he got called to this campus. As he'd drove towards the center. Chase called him to tell him Bradley had been found. "Yea, word travel's fast. I'm on my way he's at the Sheldon Medical Center Upper Grandville South Campus." Chase said that was the old Granville Memorial building, asked why they didn't just take him to Sheldon Medical. If I had to guess, where ever they found him, that was the closest hospital." Luke heard the concern in the older man's voice. He reminds Chase that it was no longer the Grandville Memorial South Campus that he was mistreated in, and that the location had been shut down, upgraded, and was now a part of his network. "I'm here now." Luke ends his call and ran into the hospital, scrubbed, up and into the chaos of his newest location. What was left of the original Granville Memorial staff had undergone mandatory retraining.
Luke quickly assessed the situation, and most of it, pissed him off. He noticed the head of ER squeezing the bag instead of putting him on a proper breathing machine, and not working on Bradley herself. As the med crew tried to move him onto a bed with alarms still sounding, Luke had to straighten this out and quickly. He points at the head ER doctor's hands, and says "That'd be protocol, if we were having a power failure, since we aren't, get him on the machine." He orders a different med to help bring Bradley's heart rate back up. When he attaches monitors the screen lights up like a fucking Christmas tree. "Shit, he's still seizing let's get him cooled off people." The ER head seemed to want to argue with him.
Mark heads into Grandville South with Bobby and his STOP team behind him. As he arrives he is met with Angel, and Joshua heading out. He hardly got a wave off, before they zoomed passed him. Standing at the front door, he watches as Bobby and his men file in behind Joshua's truck. Heading into the house he is met with Paula who ran to him happy that he made it here safely. He asked where Angel and Josh were off to in such a hurry. Paula tells him that Candy was with them, and then tells him about Bradley. She asks how he was doing. "I'm fine honey, they picked up John Cena and his woman, but Randy didn't show tonight. At first, they only had John from when I handed him the money, then as we were leaving Nikki Bella decided she wanted to try to rescue her man by blocking the entrance, so that the car John was in couldn't leave. That ended quickly, as Bobby plucked her out of her rental. I must admit it felt good watching them both do the perp walk." They talk about lighter topics, just as Mark was about to ask about the girls, Janet came in from the kitchen with bottles for the twins. Mark had not seen his girls in over a week. Janet greets him with a hug. He hugs his oldest to him, and then tells her he will go up and feed the twins. Paula follows him upstairs.
Sophie is in JC's room playing with him. Her phone rings. It wasn't a number that was on her list. Her general ringtone startles JC who showed his auntie his displeasure by screaming to the top of his lungs while shaking his little fist. Knowing she would not be able to hear the person anyway she mutes the ringing. After getting JC calmed down, she feeds him and he finally tuckers out. After turning on the baby monitor and leaving JC's room, out in the main hall she opens her call log. She knew it wasn't any of the prefixes of Luke's hospital, it was local though. She sees that the person left a voice mail. This told her that it wasn't someone that she did business with, because not many of her clients would call this late. Listening to the message it was Julius's mother asking to take her to lunch. "Nope" Sophie says to no one as she deletes the message.
Bobby arrives at the federal compound near Grandville South, Harold took part of his team and leaves, Ben was now awake. Bobby had been briefed on what had happened and Kevin Kincaid would be spending the night at the compound as well since letting him free to move on his own could be dangerous or stupid on their part. Kincaid's captain had not returned any calls. Kevin asked them to call his father Detective L. T. Homer Kinkaid. They told him that the relation was too close to him even though his father out ranked him.
Luke's breaking point came as they were getting the seizures under control via him having to drain blood off of Bradley's brain. Bradley's eyes pop open, the fear in his gaze stopped the female doctor in her tracks. As the crew tries to keep him from ripping the breathing tube out. Before Luke can speak to Bradley. The female doctor tells Bradley to stop reaching for the damn tube and stuck him with a needle. Bradley gags and goes still. One of the nurses announce that the patient is under. That was it, Luke dismissed the ER head and told her to go wait in his office. He'd heard about some terrible bed side manners, but the ER doctor's behavior was downright unacceptable. After a nurse says the flush of Bradley's system is complete, Luke stitched up the incision he'd made, all Bradley's vital signs were normal. Luke checks Bradley's brain stem activity, that was back to normal as well, but Bradley was still unconscious. That puzzled, and worried Luke.
Out in the waiting room, Candy, Angel, and Joshua sit together Cassandra walks in with Rapture who is followed closely by Sally and Michael. Andrew and his team sit and stand in and around the private waiting room. Sally remembers when this place was Grandville Memorial South. Out of the blue she says "Bradley was born at this location. It wasn't a Sheldon Med Center then." Mike speaks about how he'd been at the club right down the street when he got the call from Sally's teacher's aide that his wife was in labor. Luke walks in and everyone stands up asking questions. Closing the door behind him to the private waiting area. Luke says "We found out quickly, what was in his system, No broken bones. He has a lot of skin surface scaring. We were able to flush the drugs out of his system. We stopped the internal bleeding in his brain that was sending him in to seizures. There has been no more seizure activity along his brain stem in the past hour." Joshua asks him what isn't he saying. Firming his lips, trying to not be alarmist, Luke says "He's still unconscious."
