"Kevin!" I scream from my lungs. I glance back at the screen and see his picture still up on the screen. "That guy, the guy that I punched in the face today, was Kevin?"

Ana, looking scared shitless, nods her head slowly. "He works downtown. Not close to you, though. He must have come down to check up on you or something."

My blood boils with pure rage. The fucking man who has abused my Ana has now come down to my office to "check me out." I'm beyond furious. If I had known that was him, I would have done a lot more than just give the fucker a bloody nose. I'd make sure he'd end up apart of the pavement. I stalk over to the couch and grab the remote to turn off the TV. "That's it. This has gone way too far."

"What can we do though, Christian? It's not like we can just go to his place and beat him up or something. You'd go to jail for sure…" Ana says quietly from her place next to the coffee table. She has a point, I'll admit. As much as I'd love to go beat the living shit out of him, I can't risk getting caught or him not doing something stupid.

I take a deep breath and fall onto the couch. "I could get a restraining order."

"Yeah, but do you honestly believe that he'll actually follow it?" Ana sits down next to me. "I don't think you know Kevin as well as I do, Christian. He's not going to stop until he gets to me and even then I don't know what he wants." I take a deep breath and let it out in a huff. My head is throbbing and my entire body is on edge. "I'm sorry." I hear her sigh. "I should have just let you leave that night and none of this would be happening."

"Are you serious right now?" I turn so I'm toward her. "If I didn't step in when I did, then that fucking bastard would have probably beaten you to death by now!" My voice came out a little stronger than I intended it to. I watch her flinch away from me and I immediately regret my choice of words. "Ana, I-"

"No. It's fine. You're right. You're always right." She gets up and begins walking towards the door. Oh, no. This was the last thing I wanted. I get up and follow behind her.

"Ana, you know I didn't mean anything by it."

She swings around and her angry eyes meet mine. "No, you're right. Without you I'd most likely be dead right now! Beaten into a pulp because I either looked at him the wrong way or I said something stupid! So thank you! Thank you, Christian for doing me the favor and coming to rescue me like a damsel in distress!" Her face turns beet red from all her screaming. I'm frozen in place, not knowing what to do. She's mad I can see that, but I'm not sure why exactly.

"Anastasia, you know that I would never-" She turns her back to me and storms out before I have the chance to finish my sentence. Damn woman. "Ana!" I chance after her. She heads into the bedroom and begins to throw a bunch of things into a large duffle bag that's been placed on the bed. "Oh, no." I say and come around to stand in front of her. She doesn't stop what she's doing to look at me, but I know she can hear me. "You are not leaving, Anastasia! I'm not letting you step one foot out of this apartment so just get that through your head right now!"

"You don't get to tell me what to do!" She roars as she throws a pile of clothes into the bag. "You obviously don't want me here anyway so let me just pick up my pieces and get out of your life so you don't end up in jail because of me!"

"Are you kidding me right now, Ana!" I run my hands through my hair in frustration. This woman, this woman that I would do absolutely anything for, is the only person that can get on my last nerve before I lose it. "Do you honestly believe that I would be doing all this for you, if I didn't want you? Do you think I just go around doing this for everyone? No, I don't!"

That got her attention. She stops what she's doing and makes a fist around the clothes that are in her hands. "Then why are you doing it, huh? Are you hoping that I'll repay you and become your little sex slave after this? That I'll get down on my hands and knees for you and then you'll kick me out like you did all the others?"

I see red at that point. I ball up my fists at my side and try my best to keep my body from shaking. "Shut up, Ana. You have no idea what you're talking about." I hiss through my teeth. How dare she use my past against me? I know she must be hurting right now and using me as a punching bag, but this tantrum of hers has got to stop.

"Why?" She asks. "Why should I stop? What are you going to do to me, Christian?" She walks up to me until her head is tilted back to look up at me. We're standing so close that I can feel her hot breathes on my face. "Are you going to hit me?" She whispers the last part.

I rear my head back as if I just got slapped. Hit her? Hit her? As if I would ever lay a hand on her out of anger! I'm about read to tell her how absurd she's being when all of a sudden there's a loud knock that sounds throughout the apartment. It's coming from the elevator doors.

A cold sweat breaks out on my neck. Something isn't right. "Stay here." I bark out at Ana while I forget about our fight and leave the room. The apartment looks normal and nothing is out of place. Then a slight movement out of the corner of my eye catches my attention. A shadow comes out from behind me at the same time a hard, sharp pain radiates through my head and down my spine. The last thing I see before I hit the ground is Kevin's face smiling down at me.
