Remus looked out of the window, sighing. "Why does it have to rain cats and dogs just when we're going to have the most important Quidditch game of the school year? Let's just hope that we're going to win the Quidditch cup for Gryffindor for the first time in years."
"Anyway, we should go and change. Let's fight for the cup; afterwards we'll have a big party here in front of the fireplace and forget about the weather," James tried to reassure his team.
"Wait," Harry spoke up, suddenly remembering something. "Did you all put a water repelling spell on your glasses?"
"A what?"
"A water repelling spell." Harry took off his glasses and pointed his wand at them, incanting, "Impervius."
James looked at him in surprise. "Does that really work?"
Harry grinned. "Of course it works," he said, pointing his wand at James' glasses. "Impervius."
The match was hard, since the Ravenclaws played well, even if much fairer than the Slytherins had played. However, it was absolutely annoying to play in the everlasting rain. Harry could barely see the Snitch between the dark grey clouds, and in the end, it took him nearly three hours to catch the Snitch, only one arm's length ahead of the Ravenclaw Seeker. The final score was 320 – 280 for Gryffindor.
The cheering Gryffindor team landed in a circle around Harry, happily patting his shoulder. They weren't able to claim the Quidditch cup yet, because the final match Slytherin versus Hufflepuff still had to be played. However, since Slytherin would have to score 460 points more than Hufflepuff in order to win the cup, which was more than unlikely, the cup was practically Gryffindor's already.
The team went to take a shower and change, while their housemates began to prepare the common room for the victory party.

One day, when the Marauders spent their free time after lunch sitting near the lake, Harry engrossed himself into reading the Slytherin diary, when a sudden thought crossed his mind. Holding out the book to Severus, he enquired, "Are you able to read Parselscript?"
"Hmm, show me your book." Severus glanced at the title with interest. "No, I can't read that. Maybe if I'm a snake I'll be able to read, but in my snake form I can't write, so it's not very useful in any case."
From that time onwards, Harry used every free minute translating the book. 'I'll try to finish it as soon as possible; it seems to be quite interesting,' he thought. Slytherin wrote a lot about himself and the life at Hogwarts at the time of the four Founders. However, so far Harry had not found any information about the Chamber of Secrets.
"Look, this is really good," Harry said, holding out the translation for Severus.
"Yes, it seems very interesting, and I think you should publish it when you're done with it," Severus suggested. "By the way, I can open the Chamber. While you were busy translating the diary, Lily, James and I went there in the afternoon. We continued your work in the library for two or three hours, and we found three more books written in Parselscript. Here, in case you need more work." He placed three books on the table in front of Harry.
Harry thanked his friend profusely and said, "This is going to be a busy time. Wow, these are potions recipes. I bet there are many long lost potions in it."
"Oh well, at least you can't say your sixth year is boring. You can have lots of fun here with old potions," Severus replied, smirking.
His great grandfather was equally interested in Slytherin's diary.
"So far, I've translated the first two chapters. Slytherin describes the life here at Hogwarts, his family, his studies and so on. I still have two other books to translate; this one", he showed him a thin, smaller booklet, "is about 'Secret Places within Hogwarts'. Maybe I can find details about the Chamber in it. This will be the next one I'm going to translate."
Dumbledore's eyes were twinkling with joy, as he suggested, "Harry, you should publish your translation when it's finished."
"Severus already said so, too, but I'm not sure about it," Harry replied, yawning. "If you'd like to read it, you may keep the first two chapters here for the time being," he offered, smiling at his great grandfather.
"Yes, I'd love to read the chapters, and I promise to return them to you tomorrow morning. Thank you, my boy," Dumbledore replied, seemingly contented. "Now however, I believe that it's time for you to go to bed," he added, smiling.
"All right, good night, Granddad," Harry replied and left the office, only to transform into his phoenix form and flash right into his dormitory.

A few weeks later, Harry finished the second book, in which he learned everything about the Chamber of Secrets. According to the book, the fireplace in the living room of the Chamber was called 'The Snakes Den' and was one of the normal fireplaces that were connected to the Hogwarts internal Floo Network.
On Friday evening, he handed the translation to his great grandparents, and Dumbledore promised to try travelling to the fireplace in the morning together with Harry and Severus.
Suddenly Harry hesitantly addressed his great grandfather. "Great Granddad, I'd like to ask you something. The school year ends in about four weeks' time or so, doesn't it? And I thought about, you know, we once talked about when I should go back to the future, and you told me it didn't matter as long as I went back before I'll be born, so… I thought, maybe I could stay another year until the end of seventh year and then go back. Would that be possible?" he asked, pleadingly.
McGonagall cast a questioning look at Dumbledore, who smiled fondly at Harry and replied, "Of course my dear boy, we'd love to have you here for another year, wouldn't we, Severus?"
"Yes, of course, Harry, that would be great," Severus said eagerly.
"The only problem is," Harry said pensively, "where could I go during the summer holidays?"
"You can, of course, stay with us, either at Hogwarts or at Dumbledore manor, wherever we'll be staying."
Dumbledore nodded agreeably and said, "And maybe Severus and your other friends could stay with you for a while. We'll make plans as soon as possible."

When they spent some time in Slytherin's library the following day, they found many more books written in Parselscript. "They all seem to be about potions. I know that Slytherin was the Potions Master of his time, but did he have to write seven books about potions?" Harry asked in annoyance.
"Oh, well, he was a brilliant Potions Master," Severus replied, chuckling. "Anyway, I'd like you to translate them all for me; if you don't know what certain ingredients are, just ask me, and I'll help you with the English text. Maybe we can find useful recipes of long lost potions. Perhaps, you could first just translate the titles and let me check if there's anything that promises to be interesting," he added, smirking.
"I'll do that," Harry promised, inwardly groaning.

A few days later, Harry addressed Severus with excitment. "Severus, look what I've found. This seems to be a cure for lycanthropy," he said and showed his friend the pages, which he had just translated the evening before.
Severus read the text and the ingredients with excitement. Raising an eyebrow at his friend, he said, "I think you're right; it seems to be what it says. I'll brew it, and we can ask Remus to try it out. He has to take it within a week before the full moon; do you have any idea when that is?"
"I'm not sure, but maybe in about ten days," Harry replied, questioningly.
"Well, that's not too bad; the potion will take three days to brew, and Remus needs to drink it on three consecutive days, so if I commence with the brewing tomorrow, we should be right on time."
"I hope it'll work," Harry said excitedly. "When are you going to tell him?"
"I'd prefer if you told him, considering that you're the one who found the cure," Severus replied in a firm voice.
"Oh well, let's go and tell him together," Harry decided, and the two friends went to look for their werewolf friend, hoping that they would find him in the library.
The Mediwitch gave him an enthusiastic look. "A cure? Oh Severus, I'd be so happy for Remus. The poor child is suffering so much. Well, at least I know that if anyone was able to brew it, you would manage as well. Harry's condition has improved so much that I'm considering releasing him; however, I'm very reluctant about allowing him to return to his dormitory," she added, pensively.
"Did the potion that I brewed for him help a little?" Severus enquired in a soft voice.
"Hi Remus," Harry addressed the boy, eagerly. "Do you know what we found?"
"No," Remus replied, smiling at his excited friend. "What is it?" he queried, curiously.
"We've found a recipe that seems to be a cure for lycanthropy. I only discovered it last night, and Severus said he could begin brewing the potion tomorrow, provided that you want to try it. I don't know if it's going to work of course, but you could try. What do you think?"
Remus stared from Harry to Severus, wide-eyed. "That's impossible," he thought aloud. He was stunned. "So many years, I had hoped for a cure when I was a small child. However, a few years ago, I've given up all hopes of a cure. Harry, Severus, I… I just don't know what to say. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but of course I'd like to ask you to try whatever you can."
Harry reached out for his friend's hand, noticing that the boy's eyes were swimming in tears. "Remus, it's all right," he said in a soft voice. "Of course we can't promise anything, and I can't do anything for you anyway. However, if anyone is able to brew such a potion, it'll be Severus. He is the best Potions Master you can find."
Severus rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Harry, you're very welcome to assist," he replied, before turning to Remus. "It'll take three days to brew, but I've already received the permission from the headmaster to skip classes tomorrow and on Friday, so that I should be able to finish the potion on Saturday. You need to take the potion on three successive days, which would be Saturday, Sunday and Monday. During the night of the full moon, which is on Thursday I believe, we'll all go into the forest together, or maybe better into the Shrieking Shack, and see if it works. I can't promise anything either, so we'll just have to try and see. Don't get your hopes up too much."
Remus fiercely squeezed Severus' hand and said sincerely, "Thank you so much, you two. You can't believe how much that means to me."
"Remus, you're very welcome," Harry replied, smiling. "Believe me, if this doesn't work, Severus and I won't stop until we find a cure or at least something to help with your problem. Promise."
"I think it would be better for Remus to take the potion in the hospital wing," Severus added, pensively. "Since I don't have any experience with the potion, I don't know anything about possible side effects. If you had any problems, it would be good if Pomfrey could help you immediately."
To Harry's surprise, Remus agreed immediately. 'Well, I'd never go there willingly,' Harry thought, smirking.
"Can anything happen to Remus when he drinks it?" he asked in concern, when they accompanied .
"No Harry, the potion is fairly harmless. I merely suggested that he should take it in the hospital wing, so that the two of us could participate in the big event of Remus drinking the potion," Severus replied, chuckling. "Pomfrey is not stupid, and of course she knew, but she didn't want to take all the fun away from us."
"Ah all right," Harry said, sighing in relief. Nevertheless, he was very worried about his friend.
However, as Severus had foreseen, nothing happened to Remus while he had to take the potion, and everyone was eagerly awaiting the night of the full moon.
"I can't wait," Harry said to the Marauders on Thursday, when they were having lunch together, causing his friends to nod, eagerly.
By the time Pomfrey had to accompany Remus to the Shrieking Shack, Harry, Severus, Lily, James and Sirius were already waiting for them on the grounds and followed them to the Shrieking Shack in their Animagus forms.
