Harry slipped into the seat next to Severus, casting a wandless silencing spell around them. "Severus, I need to ask you about something. I'd like you to be my co-captain for the Quidditch team. You don't have to do anything; it's just in case I'm not available or something happens, I need someone who can take over or help me if necessary. I know that you're very busy with the Potions Mastery and so on, but would you be willing to be my co-captain?"
A small smile played on Severus' lips as he replied, "Harry, thank you so much for asking; this really means a lot to me. I wouldn't be your co-captain but only your deputy captain though; is that all right with you?"
Harry slowly exhaled the air that he had not even noticed that he had been holding it and relaxed. "Of course, Severus, thank you so much," he breathed, gratefully. "I'm very glad to be able to work together with you. Then I'd like you to come over to the Gryffindor table after dinner as well." With that he cancelled the silencing spell and glanced at the teacher's table, where Slughorn had arrived in the meantime.

After dinner, the captains of the three other Quidditch teams and Severus gathered around Harry and James at the Gryffindor table. Harry immediately began to speak. "Thanks for coming. First of all, I've decided to make Severus my deputy captain, and I hope that you can all live with this decision. We know each other very well in spite of being in different houses, and I want the Hogwarts team to be a team of all houses. As captains we're on the team anyway, Severus as Chaser and I as Seeker. Therefore, we need five people for the first and seven people for the second team, which makes three people from each house. Please tell me whom you want for the respective positions." He took quill and parchment and made a list containing the positions along with empty spaces for the names and the house of the players.
Soon it became clear that they would not be able to avoid tryouts for Chasers and Beaters, because it was difficult to compare the abilities of the own teammates to those of the other teams, except for the positions of the Seekers or Keepers.

On Saturday morning, James whispered to Harry, "Tomorrow's the full moon; are we going to the forest tomorrow night?"
Harry grinned at his father, before he simply said, "Of course."

The Quidditch tryouts lasted until lunchtime. Almost all members of the house teams came to try getting into the Hogwarts team, and they all did their best, so that it was not an easy decision for Harry and Severus.
"The problem was," Harry explained to his grandparents later, "that we didn't only have to find the best players, but they also had to come equally from all four houses. We could have set up the team only from Slytherin and Gryffindor players, but we wanted to have at least one Hufflepuff player in the first team and accordingly two in the second team. But now I think we have a good team and a good reserve team. We're going to have practise every Sunday morning, and I'll have both teams play against each other. I'm also going to meet with the house team captains once a month to get their advice, because they have more experience with tactics etc." He slowly trailed off, unsurely looking at his great grandparents.
"Harry, this sounds very good; maybe I should award points to Gryffindor for such a brilliant idea," his great grandmother said, smiling at him.
"I'll do that," Dumbledore agreed immediately. "100 points to Gryffindor for a wonderful idea, which implies that all houses work together for our school. Well done Harry."
Harry felt himself blush at the unexpected praise. "Thank you, Professors. By the way, can we fix a date for a friendship match between teachers and students? If you don't mind, we could have two matches, one in October and a revenge match maybe at the very end of the school year," he hesitantly suggested, looking at his great grandparents in expectation.
"That sounds good, but do you think we'll get a team together, Minerva?" Dumbledore said gently.
McGonagall frowned. "I'd think so Albus. You, me, Pomona, Poppy, Filius…"
"Madam Hooch and Professor Slughorn, or maybe better Professor Sinistra," Harry added.
"Oh very well then, that should work out. If not, our head boy and head girl have to play with the teachers," Dumbledore said jokingly, causing Harry to contradict immediately.
"No no, Severus is my deputy captain and is not available, and Lily..." He let out a snort. "If you want to lose the match in any case, be my guest."
Harry and his great grandparents finally decided to hold the matches teachers versus students on the first Sunday in October and the last Sunday before the end of the school year, and Harry happily left the room.

Later that night, he flashed into the forest to meet with the Marauders. As usual, they spent the night playing and talking, and like always, Harry went for a flight around Hogsmeade with Lily. It was near dawn when James and Sirius transformed back and produced six bottles of butterbeer, causing Harry to enquire, "Is there any special reason for the butterbeer today?"
"No", Sirius said, smirking.
Harry chuckled. "Oh well, then let's just enjoy it," he said and made himself comfortable with his bottle, sitting with his back against a tree trunk.
The six friends cuddled close together, because it was very cold now that they were lacking the thick fur of their animal forms and talked animatedly for another hour.
"By the way", Harry spoke up, deep in thoughts, "when are we going to do some more exploring for the map? I think we should work on it during the nights, when we're undisturbed. During the holidays, I did some research and found a few charms that might come useful."
Severus glanced at his watch and said, "We should discuss it later today. We need to go back now. Maybe we can meet right after lunch beside the lake?"
Everyone agreed, and they quickly returned to their dormitories to get at least an hour sleep before classes. When they met at the lake after a very short lunch, Harry showed the others the charm to make all people visible on the map; however, unbeknownst to everyone but Severus, he had put a hidden charm on the map to never to show Harry Potter, but to show him as Harry Pane. He had also discovered a charm with that he could search people on the map only by saying their name.

At the Quidditch captains' meeting that was taking place at nine o'clock that evening, Harry handed each of the captains a plan of the first and second team to put up in their common rooms. He also informed them about the dates for the matches against the teachers, before he proceeded to discuss tactics with them and asked if they had any advice for him considering that he had no experience as a captain yet."

A few days later, the Marauders decided to go to Hogsmeade all together for their Hogsmeade visit, which was a promise for great fun.
"Harry," James addressed him, causing Harry to wince, as he had been completely absent and missed everything his friends had said.
"Sorry, what did you say?" Harry queried, casting James an apologetic look.
"Now Harry, listen, we've been planning a prank for our Hogsmeade visit tomorrow," James said urgently. "You're capable of wandless magic, aren't you?"
Harry let out a long sigh. 'Oh no; how come that they know about that?' he thought in annoyance. "More or less yes," he said slowly, "but I really don't want people to know."
"Ah, don't worry; they won't know," Remus replied soothingly. "There's a charm to turn people's hair green, and we thought that maybe you could change everybody's hair green in Hogsmeade. Just the hair of random people that we meet. It has to be with wandless magic though, so that no one will know that it was us. Do you think you could do that?"
Harry sighed again, uncomfortably shifting in his seat. "I can try, but I can't promise anything. What's the incantation, and what is the counter spell?"
James chuckled. "The spell is 'Capillus veridis' and you can counter it with 'Finite Incantatum', although that's not something which you need to do anyway," he explained, pleasantly.
Harry looked at Sirius, imagining his hair to be pink, and as soon as he sent a little magic to strengthen his Transfiguration wish, Sirius' hair turned pink. Harry grinned. "I don't need a spell; I can do it with wish magic. Do you also want me to turn the students' hair green?"
"Of course," Lily said and giggled.
Harry grudgingly agreed, and while they were in Hogsmeade, he was outright busy. He changed everyone's hair just by using wish magic, but he felt his magic reserves weaken, and when they arrived back at Hogwarts, he was so tired that he went straight to bed and missed an exciting dinner with almost all students from third year upwards wearing green hair. The Marauders were still laughing when the Hogwarts Quidditch teams met the next morning for their first Quidditch practice.

Nearly half the school gathered around the Quidditch pitch, when it was time for the Hogwarts teams to practise. The team members used the changing rooms of their respective houses, and the teams met on the pitch. Harry motioned the starting team to gather on his right side and the reserve team on the left, before he looked at the first team, using some magic to dye their hair neon green; afterwards he repeated the same with the reserve team, turning their hair neon orange. Then he addressed the two teams. "Welcome to our first practice. Don't worry about the colours of your hair; it has nothing to do with your houses or anything else but is just for distinguishing team mate and opponent during the practice. Since many people are watching, even spies for the teachers, who will be our opponents in three weeks' time, we won't show anything special today but just play a usual Quidditch game with our starting team versus the reserve team." With that, he finally released the Snitch.
He caught the Snitch after only fifteen minutes and released it again immediately for another game. This time it took him a little more than an hour to catch it, and he released it a third time. Two hours later, Harry finally released his team colleagues. "All right, everyone; thanks for a nice, friendly game. We'll meet again next Sunday, and I hope that everyone watching us today will be getting tired of watching Quidditch practice every Sunday morning; otherwise I'll feel forced to change our practice time to an unknown time on an unknown day very early in the morning. Try to practise a lot with your house teams and remember that we have only practice twice before our match against the teachers, which we really want to win."

When they headed off to the changing rooms, Severus asked Harry, "Are we resuming our Potions tutoring on Sundays as well?"
They already had resumed their lessons together with Lily on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings, and Harry was a bit surprised by the sudden question. "Of course, why not? Or don't you want to?" he countered the enquiry.
"Of course I want to; I just didn't know if you were too busy," Severus replied, rolling his eyes.
"No, I'd love to," Harry said, smiling.
After lunch, they headed to the Potions classroom, and Severus queried, "Harry, is there anything special you want us to brew?"
Harry only shrugged, before he said, "I don't mind; you certainly have something you want to brew don't you?"
"I have several healing potions to make for Madam Pomfrey. Will you assist me? Alternatively, maybe you can try something on your own, for example this headache potion. This is quite easy."
"All right, then I'll try to brew it," Harry decided and immediately set to work.
Severus closely observed Harry's every move; however, he did not have to correct him at all, and after almost two hours, a perfect potion was simmering in Harry's cauldron.
"Now, leave it for exactly five minutes; then you can bottle it in the small glass phials over there," Severus instructed and Harry obliged.
"Thank you Harry," Severus finally said, before he stated, "It's time for dinner."

At dinner, James asked, "When are we going to go on a night trip for you-know-what? I've seen something interesting the other day."
Harry eyed his father in amusement. "Any time, why not tonight?" he replied, grinning.
"All right, tonight then," James said, contentedly. "Where and when will we meet?"
"I'll flash into your dormitory together with Lily and Severus at midnight," Harry promised, inwardly grinning at the prospect of having fun together with the Marauders.
