I've just seen a rat! A wild rat! In the Hogwarts grounds of all places! I know that the school is still being rebuilt, but surely there are wards or spells to keep such filthy creatures out? It's just…horrible.
One of the younger students, a boy in the year below me I think used a freezing charm on it and removed it. Give me house politics any day!
Oh, I looked up the Schmitt family name. Apparently they're an extinct family line who was related to the Smiths over here. There are too many such occurrences, with all the infighting with the Dark Lord and Grindelwald. At this rate, there won't be any pureblood witches and wizards left and the glory and glamour of the old ways will be nothing more than a memory and what then will be wizarding culture? I know he was wrong, that there's nothing wrong with being muggle-born, but surely we should like SOMETHING to be just ours? Something not derived from muggles? Or else the remains of our culture and ways will disappear to be dashed over by the dregs and rats.
Oh I hope it doesn't come to that.
