Chapter 15: Redemption and Death. (Final Chapter)

The battle was long and hard and many of the Metkayina were killed. It was devastating but Tuk fought hard and strong besides her mother. Kiri had called upon Eywa for help but it still wasn't enough. The Kutawato were ruthless. Jake and Lo'ak led the hunters whilst Tonowari defended his land. Tuk couldn't find Kauri and it was beginning to worry her. The village wasn't all the large, even in this mess she would be able to find him.

Engi had seen Tuk and smirked as she and Neytiri got separated. "If it isn't the traitor." He smirked.

Tuk hissed and clenched her grip on her knife. "I warned you what would happen if I saw you again…" She hissed.

"Let's see what you have got." He smirked, before running towards her. The pair ended up in a vicious brawl and Tuk was left bleeding at the end of it but very well…Engi however, was left with a knife in his chest killing him almost instantly. She was no murderer but she had no qualms in killing to defend her own. Looking up and letting out a gasp she finally saw Kauri, surrounded by a few. "Kauri!" She called out, running to him, to defend him.

"You're bleeding!" He said to her.

"Less of that." She said firmly.

"It's too dangerous!" Kauri told her.

"Us against the world!" She told him firmly. "Now shut up and help me fight." She said simply, before they attacked. After the fight, which tired them out, Kauri instantly grabbed her.

"You're hurt." He said to her, holding her close and looking at her arm.

"It's nothing and this isn't over with yet."

"No, you've done enough. Please go…go and stay with the other mothers and children." Kauri begged.

"I do not hide…I fight, nothing will change that." Tuk told him.

"Tuk I…" Kauri was cut off by Ronal's screaming.

"Tonowari!" She yelled. The young couple saw Tonowari being dragged off by a number of Kutawato, beaten badly. They just looked at each other before running in Tonowari's direction, fighting off anyone who got in their way. Many of the Metakyina including Jake and Neytiri were rushing to Tonowari's aid - he was the Olo'eyktan after all. Jake got their first, fighting off the Kutawato, then Neytiri and a few other hunters and huntresses. Lo'ak after and Tuk next. Kauri fought off some of his former brothers before reaching Tonowari.

"Sir…I got you." He said quickly untying him.

"Kauri?!" Tonowari asked in a daze. "The people…are they safe?" He asked.

"They will be." Kauri said simply, going as fast as he could to untie him. Tuk came over too as her parents and other members of the clan fought off the Kutawato.

"Are you hurt?" She asked Tonowari.

"A little, but I will be okay." He told her. "This has to end now."

"I know. We will do everything we can." Kauri said simply, before being pulled back by a Kutawato.

"Kauri!" Tuk called.

"Untie him!" Kauri called to her, fighting off the male. Jake came in to help him and Kauri went back to helping Tuk and Tonowari.

"Done!" Tuk said simply, helping Tonowari up with him. "Get him to safety…go!" Kauri told her.

"What about you?!" She asked.

"I will be right behind you." He promised her. "Go." He said moving his hand to her cheek. Tuk nodded her head before leading the way. Kauri followed her the best he could without losing her, but it was difficult at times. Thankfully, the rain was beginning to put out the fires but it meant that large mists of smoke were being left behind. Another positive was that the Kutawato had been surrounded on the beach and the Metkayina had the waters on their side - they were winning.

"We're nearly there." Tuk told him, holding up as much weight as possible.

"You hold great pride in your family, Tuk." Tonowari whispered, trying his best to walk. Tuk was about to reply when Kutawato charged at them. Instantly grabbing her bow, she dodged the throw of the spear and fired two arrows at him, killing him instantly. "Come on!" She said, grabbing Tonowari again.

It wasn't long until Tonowari was close to safety but Tuk had been dragged back by a female member of the Kutawato and could no longer keep Tonowari safe. Kauri saw and his eyes widened as he ran instantly over, defending his wife and the Olo'eyktan. "Go. Go." Kauri said, lifting them both up. Neither of them saw the Male Kutawato with a spear.

"Spear…" Tonowari whispered out, catching him from the corner of his eye. Kauri didn't even think just leapt straight in front of the pair of them.

The war was long and it was hard and many were lost but it was over. Jake and the hunters had managed to drive the rest of the clan away and they claimed their victory. Whilst many of the Metkayina mourned their home, the loss of their loved ones. Tuk mourned in the rain as Kauri, her one true mate lay in her arms…a spear in his chest. "Kauri…" She cried holding onto him tightly. Tonowari by her side.

"It is okay…" Kauri whispered, looking up at her with a smile. Jake and Neytiri run over to them.

"Oh no…" Neytiri whispered as Jake bent down to see if he could do anything for them. Ronal following then Lo'ak and Kiri and Tsireya. His family. His true family though they may not have realized that yet.

"Please don't leave me…please." Tuk begged him, through her tears. She couldn't even remove the spear because it would cause more damage to her.

"I love you so much, Tuk…" He whispered, moving his hand to her cheek. "I see you…" he whispered, a tear falling down his cheek.

"I see you…" She whispered back, through her tears, holding him close to her body. Tonowari clenched his jaw.

"I was wrong about you, Kauri…" Tonowari whispered. "You are no demon of the shadows…but a son of Eywa. A hero." he added. Jake's ears dropped as she knew he was dying. Kauri looked at Tonowari.

"Thank you…sir." he whispered, before looking back at Tuk, giving her a soft smile and then becoming lifeless in her arms.

"No…no no no no." She whimpered out. "Kauri!" She yelled, shaking him slightly. "Kauri!" She yelled again through her tears. Neytiri's lip quivered and tears streamed for her daughter's pain. "Ronal, do something! Ronal! Please!" Tuk yelled to her in pain.

"Tuk….it's too late." Jake whispered, going over to comfort his daughter. "He's gone baby…" He whispered.

"No!" Tuk cried, she screamed in agony at this loss. This was her soulmate, they were bonded before Eywa. No one ever spoke about the loss of a mate within the Na'vi - the pain it can cause. It was like losing yourself. Was there anything else to live for? "Kauri…" Tuk cried before resting her forehead on her his lifeless body. The family mourned around him as their heart broke for their daughter, their sister, their aunt. All of this was too much.

The funeral within the Metkayina was heartbreaking - it wasn't just for Kauri but for the dozens of other clan members who had lost their lives. Tuk felt like she could hardly breathe and was so tired of crying but she couldn't stop. She physically couldn't do anything else. His heart was shattered. She had cried most nights in her mothers arms. Her fathers arms. Even her brother's arms. This was too much for her.

"Who are you?" Kauri asked, looking around as he was surrounded by light.

"You're brother in law." The male said with a big smile.

"Neteyam?" Kauri asked, confused, he knew of him because Tuk told him many stories about him.

"It's nice to finally meet you. Maybe not in these circumstances." Neteyam said with a small smile.

"I hate to leave her." Kauri admitted, swallowing hard.

"It was Eywa's plan. We must not lack trust in the great mother." Neteyam told him.

"I know…" He whispered. "Still, I feel her pain."

"That will never go away…" He whispered. "Not until you reunite again."

"I hope that isn't for many years to come. She deserves to live a long, healthy and happy life." Kauri told him.

"And she will." Neteyam reassured him. "Are you ready?" He asked.

"I think so…" Kauri said, taking a deep breath. Neteyam smiled and then guided him through the light as he found his place within Eywa. "Neteyam?" Kauri asked, as he found himself alone.

"Oh my sweet boy…" He heard a woman's voice appearing from behind him.

"Mother?" He asked, arching his brow.

"Hi my child." She whispered, approaching him. Kauri just broke down.

"Mom!" He cried out before hugging her tightly. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you too..but I am so proud of you." she told him, holding onto him tightly.

"Did I make the right choice mom? Leaving her? Is this right?" He asked, looking at his mother.

"Take a look and see." She told him, turning to point in a direction. Kauri could see it all and the smile on his face grew so big that his cheeks began to hurt.

Tuk was living her life happily - missing Kauri every single day. So much so that she was even wearing his purple clothing. She was on a beach, at the Metkayina village, chasing an infant. No older than 2. "I'm going to get you." She teased, chasing the toddler.

"Mama no!" The toddler giggled as they ran around the sand, dodging their mother. Tuk grabbed her child and fell to the ground with them, laughing and giggling.

"Oh Tayn-Kauri te Rawiri…my sweet child. You are the love of my life." She whispered to her son. Kauri's eyes watched in happiness, as they filled with happy tears. "It is us against the world my sweet boy." Tuk whispered, nuzzling his nose with hers.

"I have a son…" Kauri whispered happily, bittersweet but so happy. "My boy.." He whispered once more.

"You live on through him and she knows it. Though she mourns you, your son fills her heart. Your son is her destiny and her being." His mother whispered to him. "Now you must guide them from a distance, until Eywa sees it right to reunite you with your family." she added. Kauri just smiled big, before letting out a little sob but a happy sob, moving his hand to his mouth.

"I see you…" He whispered, to Tuk. Not actually saying it to her but as he said it, he watched Tuk's ears flinch slightly.

"I see you…" She whispered back. Moving her hand to her son's head with a small smile.

Tuk wanted more from life, than to be a Tsahik or a mother. She wanted to explore her beautiful home planet, meet new clans, and experience Eywa like never before. She never wished to be a wife or a mother. Not until her senior years. Not until she met him. Not until the shadows had plagued her life with her biggest blessing and her greatest heartache. Now her whole outlook had changed. Her son had changed her whole outlook on life. Tayn-Kauri, the perfect combination of both his mother and father. The light of her whole being. The heart of her whole world. She wanted to explore her beautiful home planet, meet new clans, and experience Eywa like never before and she would continue to do so. With her son. Her reason for living. Her reason for loving. Her family of 2 may not be the most traditional family but it would remain that way for the rest of their lives, because Kauri was her heart, was her mate for life and she would never and could never replace him. No, where Tuk was once happy living independently. She was now happy living as a mother, a wife…a huntress and nothing could change that.
