Sector 4, Bus Station

"David Sawyer"
I kept looking over my shoulder. I kept expecting Chloe, Riley or Jenna to follow me, but they didn't. I can't believe how readily they were willing to put all the horrible things I had done as the Renegade behind them. I mean, I made their lives a living hell for weeks, but yet they acted like nothing ever happened. I don't understand. I don't deserve to be in their presence, I deserve to be back in jail.
Ever since I found that stupid codec, I've been on the run. It's funny, I was arrested for something I didn't do, but wasn't arrested for the things I did as the Renegade. If the police caught me now, they'd actually have a reason to put me behind bars.
How was I supposed to know that medicine I bought for Ellie was stolen? I didn't steal it, and there was no way I could have known that it was stolen. Even if I did know, I probably still would've bought it. Even though it didn't work and she still died, I have no regrets because at least I didn't sit on my ass and watch her die like my parents.
I had come to the bus station with the intention of hopping on a bus and leaving all the atrocities that the Renegade had committed behind. I didn't care where it was heading at this point, as long as it was away from Metro City, I was on it.
"Where are you going?" asked the Ticket Seller.
"Um," I said, "I'm not sure, actually."
I turned around to see that I was holding up the line. I stepped out of it and grabbed the bus schedule for today.
"You all go ahead," I said, "I'll get back in line later."
"In the meantime," said a voice, "I'd like a word."
It was Silver. He must have taken a different route to get here. He was saving me a seat on the only available bench left. I didn't really want to talk to him, but it seemed that I didn't really have much of a choice.
"I didn't expect it to be you," I said, "I figured it would be Riley or Jenna."
"Riley volunteered," said Silver, "But I came instead because I wanted to meet you."
"Why?"
"Your codec saw something special inside you," he said, "That's why it chose you to bond with. I just thought that maybe if I met you, I'd get a chance to see the same thing."
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Even though you might have stumbled upon your codec," he said, "It was no accident that it chose you to bond with."
"I don't really believe in destiny." I said.
"Why not?" asked Silver.
"Because I don't like the thought that I'm not in control of my own life." I said.
"You still are," said Silver, "I'm not talking about the cosmic forces."
"I didn't realize there was more than one kind of destiny." I said.
"You can do whatever you want with your life," said Silver, "But the fact that your codec chose you means that you are destined for greatness."
"Like having to fight against a homicidal maniac for control of my body?" I asked.
"That was an unfortunate turn of events," said Silver, "But now that you're free, you have a second chance."
"It's too risky," I said, "The Renegade could come back."
"But he won't," said Silver, "As long as you always wear your Digitizer."
"If I leave my codec with you, then I won't have to worry about it." I said.
"True," he said, "But your codec is still bound to your DNA."
"I'm just not ranger material." I said.
"You're not even listening," he said, "If you weren't ranger material, none of this would've happened."
"Then the codec made a mistake."
"I seriously doubt it."
"I'm sorry Silver," I said, "But I've made up my mind."
"Very well," he said, "But before you go, I'd like you to have this."
He handed me a small box. It looked like it was a pocket sized computer tower.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Think of it as a parting gift," said Silver, "I created it just for you."
"Yeah," I said, "But what is it?"
"It's a multifunctional device," he said, "It works as a Radio, MP3 player, or walkie-talkie."
"Thanks..." I said, "I guess it will help pass the time on the bus."
"Don't mention it," said Silver, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be heading back to Headquarters. I know a lost cause when I see one."
He got up and walked away without saying another word. I looked back down at the device Silver gave me. It was made of metal that was painted black. There were a bunch of knobs and dials on the back end, as well as various ports so that you can plug things into it. On the front was a series of blinking lights. But the sides were completely smooth.
"Stephen "Silver" Silverstone"
Little did Sawyer know, I had brought the silver codec with me. It was the only way I could have beaten him to the bus station. If I had taken my car, there was a chance that he might have recognized me. So, teleporting was the only way I could think of.
Once I was back in Headquarters, I saw that everyone else had left. Jenna was still hard at work. This was the last thing there was that needed fixing. As much as I like having her here, she would be going home once the Mainframe was back to the way it was before the time bomb exploded. She told me this before she even got here.
Unlike me, Jenna was still the President of her company. We are both the owners of our companies, but I retired as the President of Silversoft after Aaron Kingsley was successfully banished to Cyberspace.
"Where did they all go?" I asked.
"I gave them a long needed vacation," said Jenna, "I figured you'd do the same."
"You're right," I said, "You know me so well."
"What do you expect?" she said, "We dated in college."
"Yes," I said, "But we were twelve."
"Anyway," she said, "How did it go?"
"As expected," I said, "He's scared and isn't willing to accept the responsibility of his codec."
"That's too bad," she said, "He could've helped so many people."
"He still can," I said, "He just has to believe in himself."
"Riley Bishop"
"I have absolutely no threes." said Marcus, "Go fish."
"Dude, we're playing gin." I said.
"Oh," he said, laying down all his cards in groups, "Well, in that case, gin."
"What do you say?" asked Oz, "Best 5 out of 7?"
"Call me crazy," said Chloe, "But I'd rather be fighting viruses."
"You don't really mean that, do you?" asked Marcus.
"I'm not sure... I guess I'm just bored." said Chloe.
"I'm still amazed you agreed to skip class." said Rachel.
"What can I say?" I asked, "I like to live on the edge. Besides, we finally stopped the Renegade after all this time. I think we deserve a real vacation."
"If you want to make this more interesting, we can always play strip poker." said Oz.
"What the hell... I'm down," said Chloe, "What about you Rachel?"
"No!" she said, defensively, "There's gotta be some middle ground here."
"Okay, then how about spin the bottle?" suggested Oz.
"Alright," said Rachel, "Let's do it."
"What have we become?" asked Marcus, "Grade schoolers at their first boy/girl party?"
"Mock it if you will," said Oz, "But I believe it's a timeless game."
"You also believe in aliens." I said.
"So, what's your point?" asked Oz.
"Nevermind."
He reached behind him and grabbed his empty soda bottle. He put the lid on it and then set it on the ground in front of us.
"Isn't it supposed to be a glass bottle?" asked Rachel.
"Beggars can't be choosers," said Oz, "This will still work fine."
Oz spun the bottle like a pro. It was going for a good 20 seconds before it started to slow down. When it finally came to a stop, it was pointing at Rachel.
"It's all in the wrist." he said.
They both got on their hands and knees and approached each other, but before they got too far, all five of our Digitizers went off.
"Rangers," said Silver, "I know you're on vacation, but we have a situation."
"Nice going Silver," said Oz, "You just cock-blocked me again."
Silver didn't respond. He had probably already hung up already.
"Cock-block?" asked Rachel.
"Figure of speech." said Oz.
"But you're not supposed to use it if you're just talking about a kiss." she said.
"Which you still owe me, by the way."
Rachel rolled her eyes at him and left. We all followed her. She led us out of the school and into the back alley across the street. This is the same alley where Oz was attacked by the Television Virus all those months ago. We like to use it to morph and teleport because it's so close to the school and conceals us perfectly.
We all pressed and held the smallest button on our Digitizers and immediately appeared in Headquarters.
"What's the situation?" I asked.
"See for yourself." said Silver.
On one of the monitors was a feed from the local news channel. Up on the Sectional Overpass, the police were hot in pursuit of a school bus that was speeding and swerving in and out of traffic.
"Who's driving the school bus?" asked Oz.
"No one," said Jenna, "The police are baffled."
"Well if there's no driver, then there's probably no kids either." said Marcus.
The news feed cut to a different angle and we could see, plain as day, that the bus was actually packed full of kids. They can't be any older than 9. The bus was probably taking them somewhere for a field trip, but got hijacked by someone or something.
"Could a virus even do that?" asked Chloe, "Control a vehicle like that?"
"Definitely," said Silver, "If I had to guess, we're dealing with something that can turn itself invisible. Or maybe it can disguise itself as one of the children and still control the bus. Or, perhaps, it's taken the place of a component in the bus. It might not even be on the bus at all and is controlling from afar."
"Okay," said Chloe, "I get it."
"But shouldn't we make sure there's a virus before we rush in?" asked Oz.
"Normally that's exactly what we'd do," said Jenna, "But we're going to make an exception this time."
"I want you five to get down there right away," said Silver, "Do whatever you can to help the police and save those children."
We all nodded.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Ready!" said the others.
"CYBER POWER, ACTIVATE!" we shouted together.
Now fully clad in our ranger suits, we all stood in our trademark "V" formation and teleported. We were going to attempt to arrive in the middle of the overpass, but further along it than the school bus was right now. This would hopefully give us an opportunity to get on top of it.
"David Sawyer"
I had decided to go to Edmonton. I've always wanted to go there. The bus I would be taking was on a direct route. No stops or transfers. This would work out well because I'd have time to reflect on everything that's happened and decide what I was going to do next before the bus even got to the station.
But first, I wanted to figure out what Silver had given me. So I plugged in my headphones and put them on. Immediately, I could hear something:
"Hang on, Blue!" called Riley's voice.
"What does it look like I'm doing!?" shouted Rachel.
"Man, that bus is really burning rubber!" panted Oz.
"Just sit tight kids, we'll get you out of there!" called Marcus.
"Guys, look alive, we've got Replicators!" said Chloe, "And they're wearing jetpacks!"
"Okay, I'm good!" called Rachel, "I'm on top of the bus!"
"Orange says there are Replicators with jetpacks headed our way," said Riley, "Don't let them knock you down, Blue!"
"Wasn't planning on it." said Rachel.
"Rachel Parker"
The bus was speeding along so fast that I couldn't even hear the sirens anymore. I needed to concentrate on keeping my balance. If I fell, it wouldn't really hurt me, but it would be a major setback.
We didn't know whether or not the kids on the bus where hostages or if they just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, they were our first priority. We needed to get them to safety!
Six Replicators were hovering in a circle around me, so I pulled out my blaster and started shooting at them. They started spiralling around me to disorient me, and it was working, but I did manage to get a few shots on them.
"Hey you faceless freaks," hollered Orange, "Have some of this!"
She was standing on top of a car that was travelling in the same direction as the bus. It looked like whoever was driving wanted to help, so they were speeding too, this allowed Orange to jump and swing her flail right into the swirling ring of flying Replicators. She knocked at least three of them away and then landed on top of the bus with me. The Replicators lost control of their jetpacks and crashed into the Overpass, which caused the driver of the car Orange had been riding to swerve out of the way. The Replicators that crashed were destroyed in the explosion from their jetpacks, which just left three more.
However, one of those three had already duplicated, so it was now four. I took aim and fired a barrage from my blaster, which destroyed another Replicator.
Meanwhile, I could see that Red and Green were trying to enter the bus through the emergency windows, which the kids inside the bus had opened to try and help. Yellow was standing on the hood of the bus, likely in an attempt to get in through the windshield.
"David Sawyer"
I turned off the device, but it turned itself right back on again.
"WHOA!" screamed Rachel.
There was a high pitched screeching noise. Probably the brakes of the bus. Whatever was controlling it was probably trying to throw them off.
"BLUE!" screamed Chloe, "Take my hand!"
Now there was the sound of an engine revving. It probably accelerated extremely fast to throw the rest of them off. I heard a series of thuds, then honking horns, brakes squealing, sirens and screaming.
"You can do whatever you want with your life."
"The fact that your codec chose you means that you are destined for greatness."
"Your codec saw something special inside you. That's why it chose you to bond with."
"Even though you might have stumbled upon your codec, it was no accident that it chose you to bond with."
Silver's words echoed in my head, but I could still hear the rangers as they struggled to stop the bus and save the kids. I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth to try and block out the noise. I needed to someplace quiet where I could think.
"What's with all this noise?" asked a voice.
"Ellie?" I asked.
"Glad you haven't forgotten the sound of my voice." she said.
I must have dozed off, because now I was in Ellie's hospital room. She was out of bed, but still wearing a hospital gown. In spite of this, she looked healthy and radiant, still just as beautiful as ever.
"Never." I said.
"I've been watching you," said Ellie, "You really stepped in it, huh?"
"Yeah..." I said, "Everything comes back to the codec I found."
"From what I understand," said Ellie, "It found you."
"Not more of this destiny stuff." I said.
"I know you think it's a load of crap," she said, "But trust me, it's not."
"I don't want to believe in destiny," I sobbed, "It's the thing that killed you!"
"Destiny didn't kill me," said Ellie, "Ebola did."
"You were a nurse! You caught it at work, there was nothing anybody could do to help you!" I sobbed, "It was your destiny, I suppose."
"My destiny wasn't to die from Ebola, David," said Ellie, "My destiny was to be a nurse and help people, and I fulfilled it."
"Watching you die was the worst thing I've ever gone though." I sobbed.
"I have no regrets," said Ellie, "And do you want to know why?"
"Why?"
"Because I made the most of the life I was given." she said.
"You were always smiling... I still remember your smile," I sobbed, "I miss it so much."
"It's never far away," said Ellie, "All you have to do is think about me."
"I did so many horrible things as the Renegade Ranger," I said, "You must be so ashamed of me."
"No," she said, "I'm not."
"But why?"
"Because I know who really are," said Ellie, "You're the person that almost lost your fingers to frostbite because you went out looking for my dog in 30 below weather after he ran away while you were walking him. You're the person that gave up everything you had and fought for me when everyone else had given up. You're the person that bought stolen medicine and got arrested while trying to help me. But most importantly, you're my little brother."
"Ellie..." I mumbled, running over to her with my arms outstretched.
She gave me a big hug and I burst into tears. I had never really been able to say goodbye to her.
"I believe in you," she said, "And I know you'll do the right thing. You just need to believe in yourself."
"Make the most of the life I'm given?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said, "Don't let fear get in your way."
"I understand," I said, "I know what I have to do."
"Remember," said Ellie, "I'm always here if you need me."
"I know," I said, "Thanks, sis."
I opened my eyes and she was gone. All the noise came back. I took my headphones out of my ears and stood up. I tried to turn off the device again, but it still didn't seem to work. The sounds stopped, but the device was still on. Just then, a small compartment opened up, and inside was my codec, the new Digitizer Silver had made for me and the key that went along with it.
"He planned this from the beginning..." I chuckled.
I inserted the codec into the slot Jenna had showed me and locked it into place. Then I put the Digitizer around my wrist and fastened it. The effects were instantaneous. I felt a brief surge radiate through my body, starting at the right wrist. As the strange sensation went away, I felt stronger. This must be what having a codec is supposed to feel like.
"Riley Bishop"
When we got flown from the bus, we crashed into the police cars and sent them rolling away. Luckily, both officers crawled out of the wreckage and got to their feet quickly, so they weren't hurt.
"Please stay back!" I called, "We'll handle this!"
There wasn't much they could do. With their cars totalled, they were stuck on the Overpass until reinforcements showed up, but hopefully, by then, we'll have rescued the kids.
We had developed a new ability that made chasing the bus much easier. All we had to do was keep teleporting over and over again. The idea was that we would teleport so that we were within spitting distance of the bus, try to grab it and then repeat this process indefinitely. Because we never touched the ground and never lost the momentum, it allowed us to keep up with the bus and not be on the pavement of the Overpass at the same time.
Because all of us were morphed, we could see each other while we were teleporting. To everyone else, it probably looked like there was five coloured blurs following the bus, but to us, there was five rangers appearing and disappearing in rapid succession. We were even taking turns trying to grab the bus so that we wouldn't bump into each other.
The bus sped up again, now it was moving too fast. Our teleporting strategy wouldn't work anymore. The others knew it too, but we didn't stop. We kept going, keeping in mind that we would need to recalculate our teleporting to try and keep up for as long as we could. Then, from up above, a purple streak of binary flew in. Sawyer had landed on the bus.
"It's Sawyer!" I exclaimed.
"Thought you guys could use some help!" he said, pumping the clutch on his Digitizer.
"RENEGADE, POWER UP!" shouted Sawyer.
The morphing action that he had created for himself was to thrust out his right arm and then with a flourish of his wrist, make the key appear out of thin air. Then brought his arm back as if he was pulling something. The key was poking out of his fist where the middle finger would be, so he held up his left arm and brought the right one in to put the key into the ignition slot. Finally, he turned the key while keeping his arms held up.
When he turned the key, he leapt high into the air, he hovered up there momentarily as swirling tornado of 0s and 1s came from out of his codec and encircled him. Then from midair, he somehow jumped again, as the tornado kept swirling faster and faster becoming more and more, narrow as it did so until it collided with him in a small explosion. He was wearing the purple ranger suit now. He dove face first towards the ground, but flipped over at the last second to land on his feet and when he stood up, he had his helmet on too.
"Welcome to the team!" I said, "But what do we call you? Renegade, or Purple?"
"Purple," he said, "I'm only using 'Renegade' as part of my morphing call. I thought it would sound cooler."
"It kind of does." said Green.
"I have a plan," said Purple, "I'm going to cut my way in, and then I'll let you in through the back. Then you can take the kids and teleport them to safety while I try to stop the bus!"
"David Sawyer"
Since I was already on top of the bus, all I needed to do was get inside of it.
"Download weapon!" I called.
My scythe materialized in my hand. I wasted no time and drove the blade of it into the roof of the bus. It felt as though I was trying to cut through metal that was ten times stronger than it should be. I would guess that was the virus, trying to keep me out.
What the virus didn't anticipate was that I'm still a bit stronger and faster than the other rangers, and if I wasn't, I probably wouldn't have been able to make so much as a dent in the bus.
Finally, there was a hole large enough for me to fit through. I jumped inside quickly, as I didn't know whether or not it would stay open for long.
When I landed on the inside, all the children ran away from me and cowered in fear.
"Oh no!" sobbed one of them, "The Renegade Ranger is here to kill us!"
"No, no, no," I sighed, "Kids, I'm here to help you."
"His voice..." said a different kid, "It sounds different."
"Yeah," I said, "That's because I'm not evil anymore."
"I believe him." said the girl that was nearest to me.
"Thank you," I said, "Now let's get you out of here."
I headed for the back of the bus. The kids stopped cowering and let me pass, but when I put my hand on the handle, the bus accelerated hard, I lost my footing and was almost sent flying into the windshield, but the kids grabbed my arms and kept me grounded.
"You can do it!" said another kid.
Instead of trying to open the back door manually, I kicked it as hard as I could, and it went flying.
"Come on in, guys!" I hollered to the others, who were still doing that teleport maneuver they came up with in order to keep up with the bus.
Red and Blue made it inside first, followed by Yellow. After that, Green and Orange. Now there all six of us were inside the bus.
Blue started doing a head count. There was twenty kids. The most each of us could carry at a time was two, so they would have to make multiple trips.
The virus seemed to sense that we were going to take the kids away, because in the empty driver's seat, something emerged. It looked like humanoid monster. It has parts from inside a bus growing out it like cancerous tumours.
"Where do you think you're going with my passengers!?" it snarled.
"Rangers!" said Silver's voice in my head, "The virus has assumed it's true form, but be warned, it can still control the bus!"
"I think you mean hostages," I said, "And they're coming with us!"
The virus lunged at me, holding what looked like tire irons in each hand. I held up my scythe and blocked it's attack.
"Go Renegade Ranger!" cheered the kids.
"Can you handle him, Purple?" asked Red.
"I think so," I said, "Get the kids out of here!"
Yellow was the first to grab some of the kids. He had them take his hands, and then teleported away with them in tow. After that, the others did the same. Now there was only ten kids left.
The hard part about this rescue mission was that although we could teleport ourselves off of the bus, we couldn't teleport ourselves back into it because it was still moving. If I could defeat the virus, it would solve everything, but it was a powerful opponent and could attack incredibly fast.
The virus seemed to know that half of the kids were gone, because it made the bus accelerate even faster. Now we were going more than double what the posted speed limit was. It was hard to stand up because of how fast the bus was moving. I heard a bunch of voices coming from my helmet.
"It's moving too fast!" snapped Red, "We can't get back inside!"
"And I have no weapons that could help." groaned Silver.
"What about the EMP you were working on?" asked Jenna.
"The one responsible for you getting kidnapped and tortured!?" asked Silver.
"Yeah," said Jenna, "That one."
"It needs to drain energy from nearby power sources in order to produce the EMP blast," said Silver, "And with the bus constantly moving, there wouldn't be enough time for it drain anything."
"I guess the only thing you can do now is try and stop that bus!" said Jenna.
"I'm a little preoccupied right now!" I snapped.
The virus swung at me with its left arm, but I dodged it, then I attacked it, but it blocked me with its right arm. We kept exchanging blows for a while, but the fight was still a stalemate. I kicked the virus in the chest, and it stumbled backwards, towards the front of the bus. I followed it, swinging my scythe at it wildly. That's when the metaphorical light bulb appeared above my head. We were close enough to the driver's seat now that I could see that the wheel was still being moved. It looked like there was an invisible person driving the bus, when in reality, the virus was probably controlling it with its mind. But it still needed to use the actual controls of the bus.
This seemed to indicate that if someone was to press the brake pedal, the bus would slow down until the virus used its mind to release the pedal. But would it still be able to concentrate on controlling the bus while fighting with me?
"Kids!" I groaned, straining as I tried to hold off the virus, "I need you to help me!"
"How?" asked the girl nearest to me.
The virus pushed me back towards the middle of the bus.
"Try and slow the bus down!" I grunted, "Stomp on the brake pedal or pull the emergency brake! I'll keep him busy for as long as I can."
"Which one is the brake pedal?" asked one of the kids.
"Wait," said the girl nearest to me, "My daddy is a mechanic. I've seen him work on cars before. I think I know what he's talking about!"
The kids were small enough that they could hop over the seats freely. The virus was already busy fighting with me and using its mind to tell the bus to go as fast as it could that it wouldn't notice what the kids were doing.
I looked out through the back door of the bus and saw that the others were doing everything they could to keep up with the bus. If my plan worked, in a matter of seconds, the bus would very suddenly slow down. I would just have to hope that it would slow down enough for them to get on and rescue the remaining kids.
"Okay, now on the count of three, you grab that thing and pull down on it as hard as you can!" said the girl whose father was a mechanic, "Then you need to press down as hard as you can on that pedal right there!"
"One! Two! Three!" shouted all the kids in unison.
We started slowing down rapidly. The others seized this opportunity and jumped inside the bus. The virus collapsed to its knees and clutched at it forehead. The kids cheered and applauded as each of the others took hold of them, two at a time and teleported away.
"NOOOOO!" snarled the Virus, making the bus accelerate hard again.
But it didn't matter. The kids were already safely off the bus. It took me a while to realize it, but the virus wasn't steering the bus anymore. It veered right off the road and drove right through the barriers and off a cliff. I let go of the virus and teleported myself onto the beach below so that I could watch as the bus collided nose first with the rocks and sand.
There was a sizable explosion, from which the virus was thrown. It landed right in front me, where it writhed in pain on the ground.
"You'll pay for this!" it wheezed, getting to its feet.
"I doubt it." I said.
Silver definitely did something to my codec before giving it back to me. I could see what looked like words appear in front of me. I think my helmet was displaying them for me. I read them and learned that I had the ability to transform my scythe into a small cannon called the Virus Reaper XS
"Transform weapon!" I called, "Cannon mode!"
The bladed piece of my scythe came off then I felt my blaster float up and out of my holster. The blade merged together with my blaster and I grabbed it.
I took aim and fired right at the virus. The shot looked like a lethal purple arrow made of binary. The virus was too weak to try and avoid the shot, so it just stood there and glared at me until the shot pierced right through its chest. The virus fell backward and exploded, sending binary code flying in all directions.
My blaster returned to normal, so I holstered it again.
"Guys," I said, "The virus has been destroyed. What's your status?"
"We're back at the police barricade with the kids," said Red, "Feel free to join us."
I proceeded to teleport back to nearest entrance to the Sectional Overpass and saw that several police cars had made a barricade to stop anyone from entering from that point. There was also a bunch of reporters and curious civilians.
One of the reporters fought her way over to me and shoved her microphone in my face.
"Renegade Ranger, I'm Carrie Keegan with Channel 7 News," she said, "Up until now we were all under the impression that you were not associated with the Power Rangers and that you planned to take over Metro City. Care to tell us what brought about your sudden change of heart?"
"Well Carrie, it's actually quite simple," I said, "For the past few weeks, my homicidal twin brother had been masquerading around as the Renegade Ranger. However, recently he was arrested and brought back to jail, so I reclaimed my stolen suit and became the second Renegade Ranger, which is what I planned to do before he stole my suit."
"So you're saying that you never intended to be evil?" asked Carrie.
"Yes, that's correct," I said, "In fact, I was originally going to call myself the Violet Avenger before my brother stole the suit and started calling himself the Renegade Ranger."
Carrie took the microphone away and stood back so that her cameraman could center his shot on her.
"That's right, you heard it here first, folks!" said Carrie, "The Renegade Ranger has officially switched sides and is now an ally of the Power Rangers! Reporting live for Channel 7 News, I'm Carrie Keegan."
"And we're clear." said her cameraman.
"Thanks for the interview." said Carrie.
"Anytime." I said.
I went back over to the other rangers. None of them were being interviewed. The main focus seemed to be on my sudden shift from being evil to being a hero.
"Feels good, doesn't it?" asked Red, "Knowing that these people all look up to us?"
"Yeah." I said.
"Just wait," said Yellow, "Now that you're one of us, it only gets better from here."
"You are one of us, right?" asked Green.
"Definitely," I said, "I've decided to make the most of the live I've been given."
I looked up at the clouds and I could have sworn that I saw Ellie looking down at me and smiling. So I stared back at her and smiled back. Thinking back, I can't believe that I almost got on a bus and turned my back on this opportunity.
